What have you done?
First I don’t care about pictures as a face of the app. No matter how pretty it is if it does not work it’s useless. Ever since I was forced to download this new version, the app will not work. I finally was able to “set up my account” and get it to at least let me see a dashboard. That’s all I can do. I cannot get transaction info on my account or do anything else. It just keeps giving me the gray dots and never delivers contents. SECU has always been terrible about communication, has limited in person hours, and yet I still pay monthly fees. I’m going to close this account due to the overall bad service and move my money to my other checking account at a different bank that offers better hours and an app that works! Bonus: there I get free checking with direct deposit too. I rely 100% on the app as I travel all the time and having to painfully navigate a browser on my iPhone for this is unacceptable in 2017. If the app is not ready do not release it. There is no excuse for it not to work!

Touch ID
The older version of the app used to have Touch ID for easy login. Can’t find it anywhere in this new app. Please bring Touch ID back. Update: SECU developers responded to my review about no Touch ID. They indicated I should be seeing both a PIN and Touch ID option on the logon screen. Those two options were not appearing on my login screen. But I logged in and then logged out and then they showed up. I think the issue was that the very first time I logged in I chose the REMEMBER MY USER ID option but NOT the PIN or Touch ID options. From that point forward those options didn’t appear on the logon screen until I used the LOGOUT option. It’s all good now. I always liked the SECU app. Used it often in the past and now that my Touch ID issue is solved, I’m happy. Thank you SECU.

Needs better security!!!
First of all the app doesn’t even let you lock your card from your phone! Like tons of banks allow you to lock your card from the app but this one doesn’t. You guys are suppose to be a credit union. Where is your security for your customers? I called customer service and asked them how could I make sure my money is safe if I can’t lock my card or what happens if I get robbed and lose my cards and people steal my money and they told me that I’ll have to wait for 30 to 90 days for an fraud investigation. So I’m supposed to wait almost 3 months and still can’t lock my card? That’s the biggest downfall for this bank. Honestly I don’t feel safe with this bank no more now that I see that I can’t lock my debit card from my app. I do a lot of traveling always gone and anything can happen. If they don’t give us this feature soon I’m closing my account with them!!! I need a bank where I can lock and unlock my card from my app!!!!

Almost there
The app is pretty good for now. I don’t use a whole lot of it so I can’t say just how great it is, however, what I do know is I’m terrible about remembering what I wrote a check for and then taking it into consideration with the current balance. I know not much can be helped by that, but one thing they can do to help me keep track of what the actual balance is, cause at times it takes a day or two before it even shows up in pending, is a notification setting for amounts spent. Me, I’d use it for every purchase placed on the pending list and/or one that goes through. I’d imagine some people would only want it for when checks clear, or when large payment go through, or those auto pays for their bills. Giving them those choices for purchase notifications would make things a lot easier for some.

Only one thing..... well, maybe two.... OK, three
I like the new app. My one thing (the for-sure one) is that I would like to see the Log Off link more accessible. Currently I have to tap the menu icon, scroll down to the bottom, and then tap Log Off. The second (maybe) item is that formerly customers with free business checking accounts could not use Mobile Deposit. Since I just downloaded this version today, I’m not sure about this. Finally, item three is that the app is in landscape format. I don’t see anything in here that requires the wider format, and all of my other apps are portrait, but this is just a minor inconvenience and I can live with it. Overall, good job, SECU!

I love this App (Ann)
I love this app and I love my bank (SECU). I have been a member under my mom since age 12. I am now 28yrs old and still a member. I am a lifetime member without any doubts. I like the ease of the app and all its features. I use this app daily. Yes! there are at times some functionality issues or glitches but I am in tech so I find it minute and irrelevant. These issues usually are resolved in a timely manner. When I go inside t the bank I feel like I am at my second home. Great customer service and employees willing to help. They have knowledgeable financial advisors who have been impactful in my financial growth. Thank you SECU for all you do for your members.

Bring back Touch ID!!!
So this has been through soooo much in the past two years with banking with SECU, needless to say, I am beyond upset with the changes and wish they had better functionality for people who trust them with their money! It's so frustrating to be going through all these changes and glitches and you expect for people to not complain? Come on please do better! I need something that makes me feel secure when I am logging and trust that will work when I need it. I get it, it's technology but in the day and age you have to be on point with these type of things 😐

Chain reaction fees. Steal your money
Had a issue between paychecks were I was low on funds. I had a issue with a autodrawed credit card payment going out a day earlier then expected. I made sure I had enough money in the banked based on the transactions that showed pending from weekend. CC payment wasn’t showing but to my surprise in the morning that’s the first thing taken out leaving me close to negative. Meanwhile I am getting charged a uncollected funds charge for each card now. I am sure people can related to this. Talked to customer service and they basically give me a blanket statement that we are sorry for the inconvenience and they decide the forgiving two fees out of 10 is sufficient enough. Thank you for stealing my money. You don’t help your customers this way. Charging 30 for each transaction is ludicrous. Your crooks.

Forced upgrade that doesn’t work
The old app worked great. The new one doesn’t even work. I was forced to upgrade but the new app forces you to choose 3 security questions, after you choose 2 it stops giving you choices. So essentially you are stuck without an app to access SECU. Definitely not ready for the public and really inconvenient for anyone that needs to use their phone for banking. SWITCHING my banking is now an appealing option as I need to use my phone more than I need to stay with SECU. Wish zero stars was an option

Faithful customer
SECU strive to improve in every aspect of the way sometimes I do things backwards and dumb on my account and if I reach out to them they’ll assist me as best they know how and they’ll try to work with you want to you can get it I love the new banking system that they have I love the online banking I also love the app that you can put on your phone everything is so fluent in easy to access long-time customer 42 years of age and I’ve been with them probably well over 15 years or more thanks

Great app
I’ve been a customer for almost 30 years. I have not lived in Maryland for 25 of those years. It was always a hassle moving money around into this account until this app came along I can deposit checks check my balances transfer funds all in the click of a button. It’s honestly the most useful app on my phone. And I love staying with the credit union. That makes me happy. Down with the big banks.

I want to pay what I want - no option
I want to pay a bill such as my auto loan with a Transfer from savings or checking. Unfortunately, the same bank who cannot figure out how to apply an extra $2.74 to my auto loan payment, and then charges a $20+ late fee, brings an app that doesn’t allow you to “pay a different amount.” For instance, I want to pay $2.74 -not that plus the late fee. That way I can call and have the late fee removed. The options include pay the regular bill, pay the amount due, pay the past amount due and pay off the loan. Bad app and worse bank. No wonder they are closing branches. It is nice that finger prints are a log in option though.

Miss seeing my checking transactions and bill pay on one screen
I miss seeing my checking transactions on one screen i have to go into my checking and search line item by line item for the little green color to know something was withdrawn wish it was more obvious when the last time you paid bills it would show your history you could see all payments under a certain vendor now have to dig endlessly thru debit transactions to find the last time you paid on a particular vendor

Best Banking Ever with this Credit Union
I appreciate this credit Union so much that I’m slowly transitioning myself out of my other accounts (Bank of America and Capital One) just to have better banking. I wish I had known about this credit union when I was buying a house and am considering refinancing my vehicle with SECU when I’ve had it for a little longer. It’s that great!

I have not noticed any problems in the general functionality of the app. However, because the title of the app is “SECU (Maryland)”, if you have the app installed on an iOS device, “(Maryland)” is added to your dictionary. As a result, any time you try to type “Maryland”, it autocorrects to “(Maryland)”. As most if not all of your customers are Marylanders, this creates a huge problem. It is something that has plagued me for years. Today, I found a Reddit forum that described the issue and linked it to your app. I just uninstalled the app and restarted my phone...problem solved! I honestly don’t know if this is a SECU app developer issue or Apple issue, I am submitting feedback in both places.

Satisfied but not amazed
I enjoy my last bank because of their cash back rewards, easy to navigate app links, applying for out of country travel or credit cards through the app. The SECU app is easy to navigate but doesn’t have many features. I also would like my savings account to be listed under my checking account on the main screens. Finally, the accounts do not update automatically. Especially on the weekends there’s a huge delay in transactions shown which has caused me multiple overdrafts.

Inconsistent performance
This app works ok on my iPhone, but is terrible on my iPad. From the screen not loading when I switch from transfers to all accounts to the remote check deposit not allowing me to select the account to deposit into. The app is in serious need for some QA work. This app used to be solid, but with the recent updates features are no longer consistently working.

I have been a member of SECU for many years and I can honestly say I trust them, very professional throughout the years and they listen, and communicate with their customers, I feel confident if there is a problem it will be resolved. I can’t and won’t bank anywhere else. Thank you SECU for staying connected and consistent.

Great Until Last Update
For the most part, the app still is functional. After this last update though, I’m unable to make a payment on my SECU credit card. It is not an option when choosing to “make a transfer”, and the “make a payment” option just sends you back to the transfer page. Hopefully this will get fixed soon. It would be a hassle to have to call customer service just to pay a bill instead of being able to utilize the app.

Locking your bank cards
The secu app is good for a few things. Some things that also matters aren’t available on here. Say I lose my wallet—I can’t go to the app and lock my cards until I find it. Can’t report it lost or stolen via app. I would have to call the 24hour service line and you can’t reach a representative. You’re on hold waiting at least an hour for someone to answer. It’s crazy to think the app could do it? No it’s not because various bank apps have the ability to lock your cards.

Great, but...
My fingerprint login option does not show up anymore. I don’t know if I did something to turn it off or if it’s an update that turned it off. I have always liked SECU’s app, although the new fancy one takes longer I think to load with all of its graphics and incomprehensible choice to “redirect” me to my accounts. I would rather go straight to my accounts.

New SECU APP
I have access to some widgets on my iPhone but not on my iPad. Don’t understand when a credit card charge is complete, it remains ‘pending’ for days on the website. I have Checking/Savings/Mortgage/SECU Visa accounts. The mortgage payments are not broken down in detail like on the old website. I also cannot access the VISA Rewards. Hoping some of these glitches will be fixed.

Review
I live out of town and rely solely on the mobile app. SECU has always been reliable and accurate. I’ve also used and benefited from wire transfers, including property sales, paying off a mortgage, car loan, etc. without any problems or delays. Thank you again for the excellent online and customer support service.

I need run reports...
The export feature doesn’t work. Previously, a user could create a create a bill pay report. What happened to that feature? Instead, I stumbled into the accounts section and filtered the data. But, the export feature kept saying no results in excel when there were clearly results received on the main screen.

SECU’s Greatness!
Friendly and easy sign on, just be able to handle the User Name and Password you created. Easy to move money from one type of account to another, and very easy to understand the transactions that have taken place. YOU DUPLICATED MY TRANSACTIONS!!!
I use budgeting software that I’ve linked to my account and I noticed a huge bump in imported transactions. The purchases and amounts looked correct at first glance but I saw that the newer debits are duplicated versions and now say Point of Sale or External Withdrawal/Deposit!!! THIS IS CAUSING ME TO REDO WORK THAT I’VE ALREADY DONE!! But the app looks good & clearly that’s all that matters, right?? I’m not happy with this...”update” at all and it has nothing to do with change because change is going to happen. To be clear, this is forcing me to drop everything in my life to fix what you broke!

App needs work
Often, the app does not connect with the server and an error messages ensues. Use of Touch ID is then not possible at this point and the app has no ability in “Settings” to re-enable Touch id. This has been true since the first version. No updates have addressed this issue.

Banking with Ease
I have been a SECU customer for 15+ yrs. I opened my account close to work. I am now retired, the ATM in the area was removed a few years ago and I moved just over the state line. With the on line banking I did not need to find a new bank and open new accounts. It is easy to use 24/7.

Overall good virtual experience
Have been a member for 10+ years and love the service I have received. Moved from the areas and have been doing all of my banking virtually and it has been great overall. Sometimes the mobile app will crash or have log-in issues but this has only happened a handful of times. Overall I’m happy with the changed and love the new app!

I love the quickness & really no need to run to the bank unless depositing money in. I do think SECU can work on the outside teller ATM . Most of the time we I do need to deposit money it’s always temporarily out of service (Most of the time) otherwise than that keep up the good customer service!!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Very good. Few suggestions for next version
I love accessing SECU on my phone - especially mobile deposits. Transfers between accounts is a nice time saver too. Zelle is very nice, but could be easier to navigate. Few suggestions for the future. It would be nice to categorize transactions and have them applied to future transactions- like BGE to learn its utilities and Giant is groceries.

Kicks me off when I try to deposit a check
The camera is buggy AF. Have tried to deposit a check 6 times now. Even with full signal bars, app takes a pic of the FRONT of the check...then kicks me off before I get a pic of the back! When it’s not telling me to flip the check...no wait, flip the check the other way... no, flip it back the way you originally had it before...*app croaks* Another “quirk” is when the front/back pics work, then app croaks during “depositing mode”. SECU, fix this!!! Remote check deposit is the key reason I use your app.

SECU your are the best Credit Union. I have 2 credit union accounts and I have 1 bank account. I’m not able to pay my line of credit right due to our current state coronavirus pandemic (COVID 19) and you all have shown me grace in how you treat your members. I have been currently using SECU Mobile Banking for 2 plus years. They always update my account and send out my withdrawals in a timely manner. Transfers are quick and easy as well as taking pictures of checks. They’ve updated the mobile site which looks great. I recommend SECU Mobile Banking and SECU as a bank.

On my last nerve
Due to the app’s name being “SECU (Maryland),” the iPhone now glitches every time I type the word Maryland to automatically add the unwanted parentheses. I understand that I am considers dramatic, but I am close to changing banks simply to eliminate this continuous annoyance. Living and working in this state, I type the word a lot and am truly losing my patience at the lack of option to change or fix this. I have found threads online spanning years back which indicate that the problem has existed for far too long.

It used to be a great app
This app worked really well until recently when a Clouflare check box was added to the login page. I pretty consistently receive an error message which prevents me from logging into the app. I can access my account through a web browser, but then I cannot deposit checks. Please fix this issue!

Mobile banking
As a SECU member I enjoy using mobile banking I just wish that everything could be mobile I would like stop receiving paper bills coming in the mail so often, I rather have paperless. To cut back on so much clutter. But so far mobile is a 5 star . Kevin Jones.

Love it
I love SECU noble banking because I can check my account any time. t’s easy to navigate, make payments and even transfer funds to and from outside accounts. Because of this ease I am planning on opening more accounts at some point. …… SECU should have a “Refer A friend” link.

Application update
Tried to update the new application but every time I press update it keeps asking my password and can’t update the new version. When I select update later it won’t allow me. This is really frustrating.

Better than before
I started using this app when it first came out and it was painfully simple and not very useful. This one has lots of features, and now I can deposit check through my phone. It’s intuitive and easy to use. Good job this time around.

Do better
I very rarely write reviews. But this is well deserved. I am over seas in the US military and for some reason the SECU app or website is always undergoing some type of maintenance consistently. It makes it very hard to use when you are 6+ hours ahead of time. In a time crunch to move money quickly is becoming very frustrating. Or the app will work occasionally throughout the day…. Please fix this

Old app back please
Within the first 20 minutes of using it... it took me 6 tries to deposit a check. It used to be such a quick and easy process. On the new app, first it gave me an error message 3 times so i couldnt even try to deposit. And then after i got passed that, it was telling me the header was wrong? Like what... not to mention, with the old app the deposit would show in my account immediately. Still no sign of the check actually being deposited on this one. And that was hours ago.

Improvements
Please move the log off so it’s at the top of the menu or an icon now buried as it is now. Fix mobile deposits! Every time I take a picture of a check I get an error message and the app closes, very frustrating. I called about this and was promised a return the next day, no return call and the app still won’t let me take a picture without closing.

Touch ID
Touch ID is not working properly. Never had a problem with the prior version. It’ll work for a brief moment and then afterwards an error message pop up appears and then the Touch ID option disappears completely. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still keeps happening! Very frustrating!

From awesome to awful
I used to love this app, but now everytime I use it I have to enter password and log in. I have lost count on how many times I have remembered and named my device. No luck, it does not use biometrics or Face ID anymore even though they are checked off. Very frustrating when they take a working app and enhance it to be useless.

The old app was better.
Every time I log in I have to update. I cannot tell that the update does anything but still must go through this and log in twice. Bill pay is much more inconvenient and worked better on the old app

Switch banks
This app annoys me so much it makes me want to change banks. Every single time you close the app, even if it’s just for a second to change a song playing or something like that, it logs you out. I was trying to link bank accounts to pay rent and had to exit the app so many times I got locked out of my account and couldn’t pay on time. Customer service was already closed at this point. This app makes me want to tear my hair out. 0/10 would not recommend.
