Usually pretty happy with the services
I’ve been a member of ncsecu since my parent created an account for me when I was a baby. Everything has always been great until I came in to creat a checking account for one of my children. Ryan little was the loan specialist who assisted us, he somehow attached the debit card Ive had forever to my sons new checking account which had little money in it because it was just created. I didn’t not realize his mistake until…. I used my debit card a few times since coming into the branch… pumped gas and my card was declined.. had to wait for someone to come with another card to pay for my gas… how embarrassing.. so very frustrated as this branch is never busy. He maybe “maybe” assisted 2 or 3 days ther customers that day as the other branch is much busier. When I called I spoke with mr little to ask him what happens he never apologized for his oversight, he actually said it was impossible that he had done this… continually spoke over me as he did when I came into his office the day before . very disappointed. Sad we don’t have the officers there we use to. Miss Jan Ellison 😔

My favorite bank
When I was in my 20s and being trampled by an abuser and ruin my credit, but I had to fight so hard for my daughter that I ran out of my nails and headed home just spent a long long time. My future husband came along the right time this time, and helped me get my checking account back since then I am here to see Maggie, and I have spent a fortune since I never had a pin in my life and I am certain living happily ever after with state employees credit union. Every bank employee is so nice to me. I’ve never had a bad situation and I love them when I work for the state at 10 and I miss them so much for so long that I would highly recommend my bank and it is the BEST

Behind the times
NCSECU needs to modernize their entire “banking” process. You never get answers, only transferred to someone with a different title behind their name and then all you get out of them is “we’re sorry…we appreciate the feedback…” is that so? Not to mention they refuse to allow any third party application connect via PLAID! I know, in my heart of hearts, it’s because of whatever relationship they have with Quicken. If I choose to give permission to whomever to access my bank account, is that not my right? I love the folks at my local branch, but the decision makers, well, that’s another thing. My husband and I couldn’t even apply for a loan until he joined NCSECU? What kind of nonsense is that? Like I said, behind the times. Credit Unions like this are the reason so many people are going to online banking. Where the make the decisions, they’re not made for them. god bless it. I will say, killer rates for car loans. I’m just so confused as to why they deny their members access to extra funds when they need it. Especially since you have to wait to open a SALO account AN ENTIRE YEAR after you’ve closed yours. Behind the times.

Always wrong answer why?
No matter what happens after each update for this app it will not let my son log in. Wrong answer but never changes the question so you can try again. I know the answers are correct because it’s written down and he’s using exact spelling, upper and lower case letters to no avail. Sadly it updates too often and now he can’t get into his account because it says his answer is wrong🤦🏼‍♀️ Nothing has changed as of yet due to not having the app working properly after updating. It’s sad that it won’t change the question after 1 try but locks you out after 3 tries. Please try to fix this issue as it’s daunting to have to call every few days to ask for it to be unlocked. Thank you P.S. I will update stars as it improves but not until then. Also I am not updated to the 16.4 beta I’m on 16.3.1 and the app worked when I first updated iOS but as above it just doesn’t seem to know the correct answers people put.

Unable to process
I am not able to make transfers across accounts. When I try, I get a message that says “unable to process, try again later.” This has gone on for months. I’ve called customer service and they tell me there is nothing wrong with my account and they make the transfer for me but the point of having the app is to do it myself. It’s inconvenient having to call and wait on hold while being connected to a customer service rep., explain everything (again) and then they offer to do it for me. I can do it myself faster, that’s the purpose of having the app. Who can fix my account?

User friendly is the most important thing. With banking I don’t need speed per say when using the app (LOVE speed when calculating my finances electronically with every withdrawal so that I don’t have to use a transaction book every time I get back to the car) or time sensitive commands; I need details and instructions with clarity, this app provides that comfortability. I like pop up features that tell me the exact meaning of each selection if needed, yay! I actually really really like this app❣️It offers the best of all the features I just don’t have time to explain and type them all—but it definitely get a 👍🏽👍🏽

Generally good.
This has been an improving app, especially with the new check deposit feature. Update to issue below: Issue was resolved and I don’t have any issues with this app now. Seems to do all it needs to do. Previous issue: for the past few months it’s been unusable on my phone because when I log in the app jumps up about half the screen and I can’t see anything above the middle of the app. I couldn’t even get to the “Feedback” option because of the glitch. I’ve deleted and redownloaded multiple times, turned my phone off an on again. Still no luck. Hopefully it’s not something widespread, but until this is resolved, it’s useable for me.

Checking & savings
Need a refresh button to see updated balance instead of logging out and logging back in to see new balance after a live deposit……. Would be nice to see a lists of detail pending transactions that’s trying to clear especially after you receive a 2nd chance text, instead of making a phone call to find out, this would eliminate a call to customer service if we can view the pending transactions in real-time… cutoff time for deposits at the ATM should be expanded to 8pm…..hard trying to beat the 530 closing time.

Highly functional
I’ve been a NCSECU member for over fifty years and have seen them use technology many times before the larger banks-ie chipped debit and credit cards. This app is yet another example of that practice. It is very intuitive and the programmers are extremely receptive to suggestions and requests. The ability to access funds and transfer between accounts is a real help. The bill pay access is also a tremendous help especially when a desk or laptop computer isn’t readily available. I appreciate the continuous updates and accesses. Great job!

Banking Made Easy SECU
I have done my home loan , car loans and checking and savings with SECU for over 30 years. I have had no problems or glitches with anything that I have done with this credit union. They are on task with the ever changing systems of mobile deposit and calling to report a misplaced card, or turning your card off until it’s found. The associates are always helpful and friendly. The safety deposit boxes are quite nice to store valuables and family heirlooms. They are easily accessible and usually not a long wait to get into.

Trouble with mobile deposit
I’m so glad they finally implemented mobile deposit on this app, but it doesn’t like to register that I have flipped my check to take a picture of the back side with certain checks. It takes several tries to get it to capture, and usually will only capture if my fingers are in the pic, so I’m always worried my check might get rejected. (It’s only with checks from certain banks like Navy Federal, so I know it’s not me) I’ve submitted bug reports so I hope they fix this soon! Hopefully you will have better luck.

Excellent Customer Service
I have been with SECU for about 4 years and every one I have come in contact with has been very helpful. They have the best customer service and always have a great attitude. I have never seen anyone complain or was disrespectful towards any members. I have been to several different branches and have did business over the phone and I can’t express the exceptional customer service I have received from the staff. I want to give the ladies in the Rocky Mount branch off Fairview Rd a shout out as well as the staff in Wilson off Nash/ Hwy 42.

Just joined and it’s already a poor experience
My dad has been with this financial institution since I was a kid. He convinced me to leave behind WellsFargo to join SECU. It’s $25 to open an account correct? Well I opened the account with $25. So tell me where my $25 disappeared to? It’s not in my checking. Now, I went to the physical branch to deposit over 2k in savings same day the lady miscounted by hand $200. I informed her that her count was off and she apologized and recounted by hand and realized her mistake. I then realized my mistake as well was listening to my dad. I wonder how many times his money was miscounted. My $25 is still missing SECU. Would love to have that back. Actually I would love to just take it all out and stay with WellsFargo and Navy Federal never had any issues with either financial institution.

My favorite Credit Union
I have been a member of NCSECU for almost 15 years now and this credit union is my all time favorite of any credit union I have ever been a member of and I’m proud to share this statement with anyone! NCSECU may be old school in some of its way of operating however, I love this about them because they meticulously look after the overall welfare of protecting their members from problems that could easily arise from outside businesses and transactions with these sources. Thank you NCSECU for taking great care of your members!

I have been associated with SECU for many years. As a customer and an advisory board/loan review member for the last 30+ years, I have seen tremendous growth in infrastructure, services, professional strength, etc. While I was still a state employee I enjoyed telling my new employees one of the benefits was their chance to join SECU and to enjoy the many available resources it has to offer. This app is a great example: moving funds around, bill pay, check deposits, etc. Overall a great institution that I am proud to be a member.

Confusing app
The transactions listed in the app are often out of order which makes it hard to balance my checkbook. Sometimes an item will clear the bank so I’ll check it off in my checkbook, but then a week or so later that same item will be charged again on “Today”s activities and at first I think I’ve been charged twice by the merchant, but when I search the SECU app for the original charge it is no longer there. What in the world is causing that? It totally messes me up when trying to balance my checkbook. These issues seem to be getting worse. What is going on?

Money transfer comments section
Would like to suggest the ability to add comments or notes when money is moved around (similar to venmo). This will allow folks who like to budget to understand where monies are going and why. I personally have wished this was a feature many times to better track my monthly spending and on what. This would be leading in innovation as my other bank account does not offer this either, could give SECU an edge to consumers.

Great app!!!
Super easy to use and understand! The app is super user friendly and you can transfer money from account to account anytime you need. You can also always check your history and it will show when you have gained interest or payed a fee, as well as what dates your transferred funds and how much. I highly recommend this app with zero reservations. It’s super secure and reliable. I have had no issues with it so far and I’ve been using it around a year now.

Excellent S&L with Great Customer Services
I’ve been with SECU for several years and their customer service is better than anyone I’ve banked with. I’ve been slowly transferring my business with other banks here. Why? Less time on the phone to get to a person, zero issues with my transactions (not so with Truist or WF) and their rates are more than reasonable. I also prefer them to another credit union I use. This is the only bank/financial institution I could honestly recommend to anyone.

Great but needs landscape mode
This app is great! It does everything I want it to do, with minimal taps, and an elegance of design that I appreciate. It lost 1 star because it lacks a true landscape mode. Almost all tablet hardware keyboards are attached to the long edge of the tablet, so that means that the keyboard is awkwardly hanging off the edge of the tablet when I rotate the tablet to use the SECU app in forced portrait mode. The orientation modes exist for the app to respond, that is, for the app to adjust the app’s displays to that of the tablet’s current orientation, NOT for the tablet user to adjust the orientation to that of the app.

A GREAT PLACE TO BANK WITH
I recently bought a new car and went through SECU for the financing. The entire loan process was extremely easy and the loan officer was so pleasant to work with!! I have banked with SECU for several years and always feel like I am a part of their family and not just a number or dollar sign!!! SECU has the best rates above anyone and I would highly recommend them to everyone!! Thank you SECU for being a part of my community and for setting a standard that beats ANY BANK around!!!!

Best bank app ever!
I use the app many many times a day for transfers, deposits, bill pay etc. It is very simple to use and offers every service. I would give it a 10 star review if there was one! Kudos to customer service too. When I use the message system I always get an accurate prompt report. It keeps getting better and better. Feels very personal and professional. Thank you for all the support and hard work. I am one happy member.

App seems to work well now.
Deposit works now. This seems like a workable app. Keep updating it and I’ll keep using it. Thanks I wanted this app to work so bad. There are some serious issues with the app. I can’t get signed in, and the screen shows about three-quarters of it. The part you need to enter data in does not display. It has worked in the past, and when it did, the app was useable, but know it is total toast! I don’t think they are trying to fix it?

The BEST Bank app online!
After using a few other banks (3) and trying to use their apps, the SECU apps come out on top. Moving funds, checking balances real-time and many more functions are available instantly. The only real drawback is that there isn’t a real-time VISA charge card update. You have to wait one business day for that balance. I hope that they can get that real-time soon. Otherwise it gets an A+ for function and ease of use.

Bug
1)Your mobile app is improving overall. However, i had a bug yesterday which caused an $8 overdraft using debit cards. The available funds is either no longer accurate or not clear enough. You must know there was a glitch because I was not charged a fee for these. Thank you. 2)I wish you would restore your off site link to NADA. The publicly available link subjects people to junk mail and provides personal information about your customers to the provider.

NEEDED TEXT MESSAGE CHANGE
For several years I have asked for a change to be made in your text message notification to a member who has an alert sent to make a deposit by 5:30pm to prevent an overdraft from occurring on an account. We have more than one account. The message only reads, please make a deposit for whatever amount and doesn’t identify the account. It would be simple to list the last 4 digits on the account so we don’t need to contact the call center or branch to ask which account needs funds. Please consider adding this feature ASAP!

Easy and Convenient!
Downloaded the State Employees’ Credit Union app as soon as it was available. Never thought I’d use it much, but it has become my goto way to interact with my SECU accounts including great features like viewing account balances, seeing transaction histories, funds transfer, including making payments to loan accounts and, of course, mobile check deposit. Looking forward to the great things that are added in future releases. Thanks SECU!

Terrific customer service
I got a call from SECU on a Christmas morning asking me if I was in London as someone was using my account. I wasn’t. This person took care of the issue and I was off the phone shortly. Second example- got a Covid check made out to me and separated-from husband who lives out of state. I took it to the branch and asked if they could help me split the check. The teller was very helpful. I got out of the branch with my check divided in 10 minutes. I love SECU!

AMAZING BANK
I have been with them for about five years the most amazingly comfortable Staff, before I bankwd with them I had very poor credit they have help me get to good credit.. I recommend this Bank to everyone I would never consider another Bank I have so much trust in them no matter what branch I go to the results are the same I’m treated with extreme respect they always go well and beyond to assist me in my needs keep up the good work I’m a forever customer.. ❤️

Credit union
We have been in North Carolina for 5 years and used the credit union for a couple years. My Wife and I are 75 and 73 , and used several banks in our home state in 50 years of marriage. Your team and leadership beat all the banks, that we had. We both feel very blessed, that we were referred to you. Please continue in the direction , you are going. When anybody asks me or my wife, where is a good place to bank, the answer is SECU.

100 % the people’s bank!!
I 100% believe that state employees create union is the People’s Bank. They are so helpful and always trying to make sure things are OK with my accoun! I absolutely love state employee!!! I’ve I had quite a few banks in my lifetime but ever since I started with state employees iv been 100% satisfied!! I couldn’t ask for better bank. I can’t thank them enough thank them enough for all that they do!! you guys are such a blessing!!!

Great banking institution
I have been with the credit union for years. Super kind. Don’t nickel and dime you. They personally call me if I forget to make a credit card payment and they are understanding and thankful. I don’t think I’ve ever been charged a late fee and the interest rate is the lowest I’ve ever seen on a credit card. You are definitely not just another account with them. They make you feel like a human not a number.

SECU has been like family to four generations of our own family. The representatives are always so helpful and knowledgeable whenever we have questions. Whether by phone or in person, they have taken their time to explain things and answer questions. We couldn’t appreciate them more. Notes, reoccurring & transfer to other SECU
I really wish the app had more features lik the website. For instance I would like to setup and discontinue automatic transfers from the app and I would like to be able to add a brief comment to any or ever transaction so I do not have to keep a separate log of why I did what. The last thing I wish I could do on the app would be to directly transfer money to another SECU account directly.

Unable to open the App
I have had the app ever since it came out. At first everything was working fine but a couple of months ago the app completely stopped working for me. When I click it the screen is black then the app closes but the black screen is still open in my running apps. I have tried deleting and redownloading the app multiple times with no success.

I am extremely satisfied this app is not only help me manage and budget line bills but also build my credit. I highly recommend for anybody that is new to working your own finances to do your own research but this app definitely guide’s you in the right direction! Amazing 🤩
I am a customer for life. I’ve been with my Credit Union for over 25 years, and I’m never leaving. The Customer Service Department goes above and beyond their job descriptions. I have told many people about my Credit Union, especially those that have suggested that I find a bank in the state that I live in lol No, no, no! I’ll never leave my Credit Union. I am a very customer service oriented person. If a company displays any indifference concerning customer service I quickly look for another company to do business with. I have banked with SECU for many years and have never been disappointed. I was grateful when I moved from North Carolina to Arkansas that I did not have to find a new bank. I have never been treated more like a real person than I have by SECU, you’re the best!

Issues with messaging and depositing
I’ve used other apps for banking, and while I do see your attempts at trying to make this app better, there are still some issues. Messaging within the app shows that it’ll accept and send up to 2,000 characters, yet it refuses to send, displaying only “Message not delivered” and “try again” I tried again REPEATEDLY and was well within the supposed 2,000 characters, and it still refused to send, displaying the same “Message not delivered…etc.” ONLY when I deleted most of the message that I needed to send would it actually send! Absolutely frustrating 🤬 Also, your check deposit is not at all clear as to how to do it - even after reading the “tutorial”…I tried to deposit several ways, with no success. 3 stars because you’re trying, but app just doesn’t seem to be ready for prime time.

Saves time and provides reliable account info/access
App saves so much time- basically eliminates most trips to the bank. Useful for checking your balances, transferring $ between accounts, depositing checks, performing advances, etc. Simple layout makes things intuitive to use. It also requires fairly regular updates, which is a good indicator that security is a priority ✅ Recommended.

1 Oak Plaza in Asheville helped me!
The staff on site at closing time today were super kind as I ruffled through papers to find the three checks I needed to deposit for my mom’s estate. They demonstrated courtesy and patiently did not rush me though closing time came and went while I finished the last transaction. A blessing after a very long workday and a four hour car ride to pick up the checks along the way.

The North Carolina Employee Credit Union is great
I’ve been banking at the credit union for ~40 years. Everything about it is great. Far better than a traditional bank. Much lower fees, no gouging, better loans, good service, helpful people, etc. But the best part is the people. It’s packed with good people who are there to actually help you. It’s great when the bank is on your side trying to help you. Joining is a no brainer.

Bank teller in my pocket
At my finger tips, the ability to deposit a check, transfer funds to my teenager, see my pay deposit, lock down my debit card until I find it, make a car payment, pay my bills, check on my different accounts, or borrow instantly from my next paycheck. I have the power! It’s easy to navigate and lovely to have.

Thanks for the convenience of making banking work within MY schedule. I feel safe using the bank app. and can get a lot of information on my accounts without having to go through a lot of different files. Thanks for making banking come to me! Thank you for a program that allows easy use.

App keeps crashing
I have been trying to open the app for the last couple of weeks and it just keeps crashing. I’ve done a hard reset, deleted the app and loaded it again. I’ve also tried on other people’s phones and there is no change. I really wish it will start working. The app is usually excellent.

No problems thus far for 3 years
I’ve been using the mobile version for 3 years. I appreciate the convenience of the app. The only thing to be mindful of is the app undergoes nightly maintenance between the hours of 2-3a so you won’t be able to check anything during that time. It’s back up and running by 3:01 though. Will continue to use

Can’t get mobile deposit to work
I continue to input the check amount and as soon as I hit done, it changes the amount to a super long number. I will not take my exact check amount and it’s less than $100. I have rebooted my phone. Deleted and reinstalled the app. Have the latest version and it’s still doing this. Please help!

My review is about the app NOT the Credit Union!!
This app needs to developed by a REAL DEVELOPER. The app crashes and does not perform. I downloaded the app a year ago but it had so many problems that I deleted it off my iPhone within a few days. 2 days ago, I decided to give the app another chance.. . Please don’t waste your time! This app should NOT have a 4.9 rating on the app store! The people writing “high” reviews on this app should really be rating the credit union and NOT the app! Those “high” reviews are misleading and do not represent the app! Please STOP MISLEADING US! I wish I could give negative stars instead 1 star.
