If you have ever experienced the hostels, the app is no exception. You can plan ahead your activities the place offers you & even do an early check in with all the information so you can enjoy more your stay. You can also see who is staying at the hostel the same dates you are so it’s easier to connect with others. Anything you need, is on the app and if not, the front desk is always happy to assist!! Also, you can keep up with all your past stays. I love it!
I love the community here. They are accommodating and just plain friendly and good people! I love every time I come hand how accommodating they are. I made some life long friends doing the activities the hotel pits together.
On the one hand, after multiple stays and interactions at multiple locations across Israel, Selina has an amazing staff and beautiful properties. It all just feels right. On the other hand the technology needs a huge upgrade - website pages slow to load, reservations do not link or sync over to the app, reservation modifications and cancellations are torturous and always give me a huge headache. It’s like two totally different companies / experiences :(.
App and hostel were okay for the most part. However, they should have clear pricing and self service for reservation modifications. I changed dates by chat in the app (pushed the stay by one day) because there isn’t a self service option. They raised the rate on me without informing me and refused to honor the quoted rates. They should improve their customer service or at least improve this app to inform customers of pricing if their staff is incapable of it.
I have used Selina to travel through multiple countries in the past. I ran into a canceled flight which led me not to be able to go into the country of Portugal. I understood it was last minute to do much but to not even provide CREDIT/VOUCHER to be used at a later date is ridiculous. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED IN SELINA! I would have thought they have better customer service. I’ve stayed in well over 10+ Selina’s but not anymore.
I used the app to ask for help with my booking, it was the worst idea ever, they changed my booking payment and charge to my card when I chose to pay at the hotel. Nobody seemed to care in helping me. Everything was “it is fixed” but it wasn’t, “contact this email”, “contact the hotel” I literally was without money because they charge me more than 2k before the date I agreed. Be aware!
Somehow the app booked me twice at a Selina and the workers acted like I needed to figure out how to delete it. They don’t even know how to use the app. There was no option to delete the second booking on the app. Why? I also went in to book airport transportation to no avail. They tell you directly after “booking” that you need to do it on their website. What’s the point of the app??? I’ll continue using HostelWorld.
I love the idea of this app. So convenient and kinda fun, but it really doesn’t list all of the things that would be helpful to know before hand. I feel like there’s so much more offered at the locations and it could be better advertised
Very simple and user friendly app. The apps has all the info you need about the stay, the trip, the price and experiences. I actually love the app; I booked two stay back to back already!
Love using it to book – but if you make any changes to your reservation it does not get reflects on the app which can cause confusion and potential error. Also the chat support function was helpful but not as quickly accessible as could be.
WAY different than any other hostel. Love the coworking environment they set up in multiple countries! The vibes are always the same! I have met some great life long friends & love the energy.
We visited a bunch of Selina hostels when traveling Central America. It’s a completely different experience than most hostels. Never a dull moment and always a great place to meet other like-minded travelers.
There’s some features that don’t work properly. And when you update a booking with a rep, it doesn’t update on the app or the website. Otherwise it’s a good app and I recommend Selina all the time to people.
Received a Text on whatsapp the day before check-in saying I was forced to download the app in order “complete the check-in process”. This is incredibly inconvenient, suspicious, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they sold your number and whatever date they collect from your account
I stayed at their hostels in Manuel Antonio and Jaco, Costa Rica. Both had an excellent combination of prime location, fun/social atmosphere, and the ability to escape loud party noises if you need to. Booking with the app saved me 10% 👌🏼
Downloaded the app to redeem a free nights stay that I earned via the loyalty program tokens. Can’t seem to apply that “free night” to any time or place and the customer support is nonexistent. Would rather book via other avenues that provide any amount of customer service.
The app told me I had enough points to book a room when in actuality I didn’t. What is the point of telling me that if I don’t even have 10% of what I need? It makes no sense.
I loaded the app on my iPad and all I could do was research destinations. There was no access to my account, trips, etc. I then loaded it on my iPhone and it worked fine. I have a 6th gen iPad mini running OS 16.2. It's probably just a setting I need to tweak.
This is very invasive breach of my privacy. It should be my choice if I want to download an app or not. It should be my choice if I give away private information or not. Its ridiculous to make it mandetory to download an app in order to stay at a hostel.
I made a reservation that needed to be changed and this seems impossible to do easily. I would not bother. These issues make me apprehensive with using it. Just book direct.
Please fix the iPad app, when you open it it doesn’t give you any option except to choose destination and when you do it just opens grey screen and that is it.
It appears the app is not working. It is not performing as the description states. The only thing this app is successfully doing is providing photos. It is no more than a photo album.
Way too much info to put in. I hoped that registration using booking.com should cover it all. I ended up pretty annoyed filling up 5pages and creating account I will never use again
Changed the app for the iPad to only pretty pictures. I can no longer view my trips, view my points or easily make a reservation. Disappointed in you decision to change this. May have to go back to booking.com to make a reservation.
The app is broken and says invalid code no matter how many times I try. It also tries to paste from your clipboard over and over no matter what's there. How are you going to force people to use it to check in when it simply does not work? The positive reviews are clearly fake. The app is not functional, just look at the real reviews.
