Amazing app!
This is an amazing app, and I really enjoy it, but I was kind of disappointed when I hopped on ready to draw, and then it said I had to pay to draw, and don’t get me wrong. I know this probably was gonna happen because you guys work hard on this app and you don’t deserve to not get paid, but I enjoy drawing animals and the free daily drawing helps a lot but I would appreciate it if you get like gems every time you complete a a drawing based on its difficulty so like two gems if it’s easy five gems if it’s medium and eight gems if it’s hard and like it could cost 10 gems 20 gems to buy a medium drawing and 30 gems to buy a hard drawing or like 100 to buy one set or 200 to buy a medium one and 300 to buy a heart set and I’m not saying the gems have to be easy. They should be kind of hard because you guys work pretty hard on this app I bet, and you could have a gem shop whenever somebody wants to buy a few gems it costs money, and then you could keep your plans to get access to every single plan is just remove gems for the people that have the premium plan or the monthly plan. Anyways, I think this app is really great. I enjoy the free daily drawings that you get my favorite is the owl, the wolf and the dragon queen, I was also wondering if there was a way to post your own drawings make your own tutorials?

Has potential
The app is a good start, and can be fun, especially with more artists added. I have two suggestions to make it more useful. First, when starting a new drawing, it is imperative to have a faint outline of the actual finished drawing in the background. I just spent like 10 minutes drawing the squirrel, except for most of it, I was just scribbling circles and lines without knowing how they related to the final product. To learn to sketch, I need to know how to look at an image and break it down into those lines and circles. Just blindly scribbling doesn’t help a lot. Also, with the more complex drawings, at times, the artist’s next line is a dot somewhere on the page of scribbles and I can’t find where to make the next line, so I have to just randomly draw until I find out where the dot was, as the drawing won’t continue until you match the artists lines.

THE BEST APP TO LEARN HOW TO DRAW PERIOD!!!
Stop looking for other drawing apps because you just found the best drawing app there is PERIOD. This is by FAR the definitive, must have, absolute winner of the drawing apps. Not only is there so, SO much content to learn how to draw, the way in which the tutorials work are intuitive. If I can draw using this app, trust me you can too! Step by step tracing instructions, abilities to alter the canvas and zoom in and out to better see the strokes and the endless amount of subjects to draw! You want to learn how to draw faces better? They got it, Male and female faces. You wanna draw horses better? They got it! You wanna learn how to draw mountains, trees, bushes, landscapes, portraits, THEY GOT IT! If they don’t have it, message their team. I have never had customer support like this. These people actually do care, I know that makes you uncomfortable thinking that they actually do care. But they do so get over it! I love this app. It will never get old. Even when I become a professional artist! I’ll know where to hone my skills. Man I am thirsty. Gotta go! Download this app now! You won’t regret it!

Its ok but theres some things that need improvement
I would love the game if you could draw more pictures without it asking you for a trial. The only thing i can draw is the starters drawing which is only one picture. I wanted to draw a horse and a dog but it asked me for a trial. If you can, please make more things free, it wont only help me but it will you and your game to get more people to play on it. If you don’t want to that’s totally ok 👍. But it would make me and a lot other people happy. Anyways, what i like about it is that it helps you draw and trace the lines. Unlike other games like this, if you don't go across the lines perfectly then they will restart you, but! You guys made it so if we made a mistake that its ok and we can always fix it or learn from your mistakes. Thank you for making this game even though it needs some improvements. I looked at the other reviews and it seems like this is a good game. Does everyone else pay for the trial or is that just me? Because everyone else seems to be drawing a lot of pictures. Anyways, thats the end of my review for this game. If i hurt you feelings at all i am sorry. Please change it to free for the games

Absolutely the best drawing app in the store.
There are over 2,000 drawing lessons you can do on your iPad. (Perhaps on your phone, I don’t know about that.) I LOVE THIS APP! When I started, I couldn’t even draw a straight line. There’s a game called Pictionary (sp?) that my husband and I used to play with friends. My poor husband…all he could come up with when I tried to draw anything, was “An ant?” Now I am confident that I can draw a recognisable sketch of pretty much anything. I do a lesson or two every day. I’ve tried every app that has to do with learning how to draw, and in my opinion, there’s nothing that can top this app. Besides enjoying drawing so much—I think it’s a lot like my meditations—the customer service is awesome. I highly recommend it. A lot of people have written not-so-great reviews, because they have to buy a subscription to get more than the daily drawing. I think that’s idiotic. Would they go to work everyday if they didn’t get a paycheque? I think not.

Great app for people with little experience drawing!
I really enjoy using this app. I love how we can follow the lines one by one with the option to see the finished version any time, so I know what the lines are supposed to be. There are a couple of things I would suggest to the dev. One is to make it easy to find all the pieces I purchased so I don’t have to remember which ones are available for me to start drawing. The other one, which is even more important to me, is fixing how the eraser interacts with the coloring tool. The coloring tool allows you to fill in behind the lines you make with color. If you’re like me and erase a ton while sketching, this coloring tool basically doesn’t work properly. It won’t fill color behind the areas that you previously erased. This makes me feel like the eraser tool was implemented as a white marker instead of actually erasing. The app still gets five stars because I love it for learning how to sketch, but please fix the ability to color the areas where I erase.

Has potential to be great.
I saw this on the Today page when I was looking for something relevant to drawing. I don’t mean my three-star rating as necessarily being bad, but there are just some features I wish were available. One of the problems with sketching for me is that my hands shake, so it was hard for me to sketch out and follow the lines. If this app had some of the simple features like in Procreate, where I can easily create a straight line, a curved line, a circle, etc. all with ease, one of the other small but slightly frustrating problems was that as I followed the guided lines, it would often skip to the next step before I was even finished. On a positive note, I saw that you could purchase a monthly or yearly plan, which I think is a reasonable price for getting access to thousands of lessons. In conclusion, I think the concept is great and can make for an enjoyable app, but I need a few add-ons/features before I’ll come back.

Great concept but needs improvements
Great idea, but need some work. The major issue is in the teaching methodology and how to do the underlying sketch- because there is no continuity, you do a part here, add a line there, then the next line is somewhere else, so you don't understand how to bring up the sketch and the proportions. Instead, what would help is how to do the sketch , where to draw lines and circles of the sketch in relation to the final drawing (for example having a light version of the final drawing on top and a GRID with possibility of toggling them on/off). This way you'd know where a line representing a leg goes, how long it has to be and how to connect it to adjacent parts. As it is now you just mindlessly copy the lines and it becomes boring very quickly. Another problem is that in many instances details are added very early which is not a good learning methodology I'll stick with this app and hope to see good improvements, because it has potential and I really want to like it.

Game Changer for Learning to Draw
I’ve been using this app with a subscription for a few months now, and I love it. As other reviewers have stated, this has helped my drawing OUTSIDE of the app, as well. I work a full time job, and this lets me get my daily “reps” in. Using my Apple pencil, I treat it like a Fitbit for drawing, and the steady progress feels great. The developers are also pushing updates regularly. I also enjoy the stylistic difference between the contributors. In future versions I would like to see more tips and text instruction along with new drawings to practice, with a focus on fundamentals (such as with figure drawing). A few drawings in the app already do this. I think this will really help those of us who also like to understand the process. Bring even more artists in from different fields, too, as you continue to grow. Keep up the great work!

Only one major caveat
Pretty good app. Most of the time it works well, but my problem with this app is that sometimes when you are following along the steps of a sketch; it will skip ahead when you haven’t even finished all the lines in a step. Doing small lines or dots is the worst. Sometimes it will show several small dots for you to do, and as soon as you put one down it moves on before letting you do the rest. It will skip to the point of real annoyance and I’ll end up 3 or more steps behind just because it thinks if I touch my pen to the screen it’s enough. I’ve even drawn lines completely away from where the step will show intentionally, and it still moves to the next step! This is really frustrating and I’ve ditched drawings because of it. If this issue was addressed my review would be higher, but this flaw is really detrimental to the app and also is what keeps me from going premium.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!MONEY MIGHT BE NEEDED!!!
If you are wondering, “Should I get this app?” I honestly think you should….. IF your willing to spend some money! The app gives you some basics to start out with, and I was happy with them. They were pleasant, but when I went to try and test my abilities it said I’d need to buy the course for it. When I went to try other drawings it did the same thing! This ofcourse enraged me as I am trying to learn how to draw better and I THOUGHT IT COULD HELP ME. IT PROVED ME WRONG! I GUESS NOTHING IS FREE. <:C (lol losing my rage) but overall it is a great app, but add an ad break to buy courses, or maybe a time period that you have to play for to unlock a course would be much better. That would FINALLY please me. Thank you over all!

A Dream Come True
Even with a deep desire to learn how to draw and a lot of attempts and sincere effort in the past, I’ve never moved past stick men. I’m simply not able to understand it with conventional teaching methods. But this? This app is helping me by leaps and bounds. Finally after 30+ years of being stuck, I’m starting to find my drawing wings! This is precisely the way I personally needed to learn how to draw. It is actively helping me move past the mindset that I can’t do any visual art, and lifting a dark weight in me that I didn’t realize I had been carrying in relation to this. Even in the seemingly superficial world we live in, there are still surprising ways in which things can pop through that bring deeper meaning back into our lives, and this is one of those things for me.

I m addicted to this app
This is a really good app. I personally am addicted to it and can’t stay calm without at least once entering the app and drawing. It just needs more free drawings. I think that the free drawings are less harder that the ones outside which I think should be changed. Either that or make the whole app free with no in app purchases. I love ShadowDraw and I’ve read that harsh reviews hurt ur app. This is not what I am meaning right do. I just want to get the best out of this amazing app. *****update. By the way, the person who is responding to these reviews is awesome. I am glad you answer so quickly!!! I would like at least 5 more pieces of free art. Could you maybe have more related to star wars ? Or the profiles? Those ones are really improving my techniques.

So far so good!
Haven’t completed too many drawings yet but needed to give kudos, I had been looking for an app almost exactly like this! As for the reviewer complaining that this isn’t how you learn to draw, speak for yourself. There are plenty of different ways to learn how to draw, and ultimately muscle-memory is a big factor as well, and I like that they guide you step-by-step how another animator would draw, it’s a perfectly suitable way to learn to draw (and yes, I’ve taken sketch courses before, many many many years ago, hence why I was looking for an app like this). So far can’t really say anything negative, it works perfectly smooth; the user interface could use some livening up but that’s just cosmetic junk, it works and is easy to navigate and use.

By far the best value for your money and time (even the free version)
The amount of dedication and detail the developers have poured into this app is very evident (and appreciated)— there is simply no comparison when it comes to someone wanting to seriously develop their skills and pursue a drawing hobby! Despite spending years trying to find a competitive alternative, I’ve kept coming back to this app, and have determined that I’m more than happy giving up a cup of coffee or two a month for hours of creative output and guidance. The support staff is also incredible and very responsive, and it’s clear they’re very passionate about what they’re building and teaching. Happy to make this my first and only subscription!

Great but annoying
First of all this game is super good and fun when bored I really recommend to get this but a lot of the stuff u need to pay for. Second of all some drawings take FOREVER it took me like 15 mins to get 50% of the way there on the Saint Bernard drawing profile I like the and kinda don’t like that I like it to play so you can kill some time but I don’t like that because I got a headache. Third of all I had a little bug twice and I hated it so much when I was drawing my Saint Bernard I was further than half way but that’s when my screen rotated and my drawing disappeared and I didn’t throw a fit but I got quite mad so I left it alone than I came back tried it again and the same thing happened and here I am writing this review so please fix the bug PS: I don’t know if the problem is I’m on iPad.

Absolutely Love It
Downloaded ShadowDraw a few days ago and fell in love. I’ve always wanted to learn how to draw, but never knew how to start or what I even wanted to draw! I know some people are skeptical of tracing as a way to learn how to draw, but honestly I feel myself starting to learn (not a whole lot yet because I’ve just started days ago), but a little bit each day! Right now I’m only using the free lesson of the day, and eventually I want to get the subscription, but the free lesson of the day is a great starting point. I see a lot of reviews on here complaining about having to pay, but that’s literally how the company will be able to pay their artists for their work?? Again, they have a free lesson of the day you’re able to take advantage of - many other apps put a paywall up right away or only have free content that doesn’t change, so you’re stuck with the same lesson until you pay up. I really really like that this is different and with patience, you’re able to learn to draw without paying money. Overall love the app so far and I highly recommend it!

Perfect for us wannabe artists!
As I hit 50 years old, I have given in the thought that I will never will never be able to be an artist. I can't sketch, draw as and barelyscratch my name in the ground with a stick. Then I came across Shadow Draw. I quitklydonated all of my "how to draw" books and bought a large tablet and apple pen. In the last few months of drawing with Shadow Draw, I can actually sketch a discernable character or random image without the app. The app gave me the fundamentals of drawing by allowing me to pick out easy sketches or difficult sketchs to test my abilities and stretch my skills. It's only taken 50 years to get this far, but it wouldn't be possible without Shadow Draw. Great app, and I am very appreciative of all I have learned!

Great app for artistic journey
I came cross to this app, and i really enjoying the potential and richness of variety of drawings provided, also support is very good, very quick response and always listening to suggestion. I wish to have canvas rotating as mentioned to technical support team. I noticed some difficulties with canvas not rotating with some drawings and shapes i had to rotate the whole iPad to draw which is looks inconvenient with the flow, so i hope to see it in next release. But overall i can tell that’s a hard work is being done. Team needs encouragement and support i see that will have a potential to be one of top apple apps in near future.

Best app of its kind with one major complaint
I really enjoy this app. I do feel like I have learned a few things as a beginner who has never really drawn anything. And if nothing else it’s incredibly relaxing. It almost reminds me of coloring books but instead of coloring you are following lines and it ends up turning into a really cool drawing. By following the lines you really gain some understanding of the process. My only complaint is that I pay $7.99 for a money prescription and u would think u have full access to everything available. However, there are many drawings u can’t access unless u pay $2.99 for each one. I feel as though it should be either a monthly subscription or in app purchases. Not both.

More Variety please
Overall very impressed with the app and feel like my drawing skills are actually improving! I pay for premium and have enjoyed the benefits thus far …. HOWEVER I feel like I’ve gone through every option twice through in the one month of having premium so I will most likely cancel subscription unless more options are added in both courses and settings. I believe this app has the potential to top the charts and have more premium subscribers if there were frequent updates.

Has to be the greatest tutorial App!
I’ve gone through a lot of “Teach You How To Draw” apps out there and all of them have either been unstable, overpriced subscriptions, or just flat out didn’t work. This app works, it’s stable and is fairly priced. Paying $2 to $5 for a professional tutorial that you can practice however you want and whenever is something that I am totally down for! I totally recommend checking this app out as there is a vast variety of free tutorials out there and even more become available on their signature “Free Art Friday” Overall this app has an amazing user experience an amazing staff and is an incredible way to learn how to draw!

I can’t say it’s the best
So as A artist it’s important to sketch properly, so I’m like ok ok this looks good, I down load the app, really professional looking so when I click on a subject I want to learn, HUH you want me to PAY to get this, and even some really simple subjects cost more money. And one more thing, so one day I get my Apple Pencil, it wasn’t charged, I was like oh well I can just use my fingers, I get in the app go the the subject, click art teacher mode and then when I try to draw it sets my line a few INCHES away from the real line I tried to draw, WHAT!!! I was so mad, those are the only two things so far I’ve had problems with. But overall if you don’t have a lot of money and don’t like begging to your parents, then I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

AMAZING APP! I love all the cool drawings you can make. Star Wars, Animals, and so many more themes! And than there’s the ever-helpful Marty (Thank you Marty!) who can carry on your requests for drawings to the SD team and look into glitches! This app is AMAZING and you should totally purchase it! Most of these drawings (okay, almost all of them) need an Apple Pencil or a stylus, so that’s something you shouldn’t blame the SD team on. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this app, and I hope you love it too! —The person who talked to Marty about the glitch of the lined pages and kinda caused writing party to happen and also kinda sorta maybe caused lined paper to temporarily leave SD

Its okay…
The app is great for people with money and are learning to draw but I am young and don't have my own money. The app is great but you have to pay for literally every single course. Sometimes you get to draw things for free once a day but sometimes you want to draw that the next day but guess what? Unless you pay you can’t drawing that exact drawing ever again. Sometimes its something boring that you don’t want to draw and the app would be better if you didn’t have to pay for every course. I downloaded this app so I could become a better artist, not so that way they could attempt to take my money. I believe art should be free but this app obviously doesn’t. Unless you are willing to pay to draw, Do Not Get This App.

Love this app. Minor suggestions
I love this app’s courses. Courses cover a wide range and the guidances is very intuitive. Learning a little everyday helps me concentrate in this fierce pandemic. The chat responds are quite kind and nice. I can see their enthusiasm and perseverance in the developers’ response. And I bought the yearly subscription. But I still hope you can add the feature that allows user to save their courses, so that I can pick up the course easier next time I open the app without searching or discovering. Cheers man, hope you getting better and better. Edited: Yeah, I really wanted to give a 4.5 stars rather than 4 stars, so now I change it to 5 stars ;). I found something miracle these days that I can draw a human face quite accurate without thinking too much about practical skills or professional advice. This really inspired me and now I’m revising these courses everyday. Wish I could be able to create my own character in the future.

Great great app that has you drawing in no time!
I’ve always wanted to draw even taken art classes but nothing has ever taken. Until ShadowDraw. I’ve been using it for only 2 weeks and I’m already enhancing the sketches in the app, drawing the sketches on my own and even making up some of my own. It’s not always good but I’ve managed one or two that I’m happy with. This app works! And it has so many sketches and color, you will be sketching for months before you even exhaust it. And with the updates they are working on I doubt that will happen. Thanks guys! Well done and keep up the good work.

Love this App!
I decided to try ShadowDraw after the NYTimes gave it a good review. It is a great app that really works for me, especially because it does not require physical prep! I can just open the app anytime I feel like drawing and can start right away! I use it almost daily. The app has helped me to practice curves, straight line, anything that my heart is set to do. The more I draw, the more natural it feels. The courses provided in app are great guides and there’s no pressure if my lines are not perfect. It was a great decision to download ShadowDraw. I would never know that I enjoy drawing so much.

The best learn to draw app in App Store or any store for that matter
It really is the best out there. And trust me,I've tried them all. Rotating the canvas Would be a nice feature to have though also if there is a way to ween the user off of the shadow guide gradually so we can start drawing from scratch confidently would be so amazing. But if you’re at all serious about learning to draw this is the only app worth using. It is packed full of different subject matter with step by step courses. It’s really incredible and I can’t stop using it

I absolutely love this app. There is a ton of content and you do actually learn to draw from it. The only problem I've had lately is the app has been crashing on me. I do pay for it and I know sometimes there are bugs. I'm wondering if maybe I have too many saved drawings? Other than that I know the app is up to date. I definitely still highly recommend this app. I've genuinely become a better artist since I started using it. Thank you to the creators chartists that provide the material for us to learn.

Sketching technique
I agree with one of the previous reviews. The app has so much potential but the way the sketching works is very haphazard. There is a tracing here then there but it doesn’t always make sense how it happened. It would be helpful to be able to understand the whole process instead of bouncing all around. Would also be nice to have a little instruction here and there to explain what is happening. I really like it but don’t feel like it gives a good feel for what you are drawing. When I finish I might have a great sketch but have no idea how to recreate it because it was so disorganized in the sketching process.

Well
I am just a 12 year old trying to learn how to draw because k don’t know how to draw very well. But there is one small problem. I was trying to look up how to draw a female body and the proportions of a female body. But when I tried to do the lesson, I had to pay. So I thought that it maybe was just a few of the lessons so I looked up how to draw hands. But then when I pressed on a lesson, it told me to pay again. I am a little upset about this but that’s okay. I still like this app and I think that I will find my way around this problem 🙂

This is TRULY the best drawing app I’ve ever seen, or have had myself. I found it by looking for apps that taught me new dragons, instead I found the in-app purchase for the dragon sketches. I got hooked on the app, and have learned how to draw many things already! They are unlike any other drawing app, because you trace over 1 line at a time, making it easy to remember, and improving your overall hand movements. Over all it gets a 11/10 in my book. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn to draw, or just a relaxing pastime. Incredible work!

Very good and therapeutic for me.
I have tested a lot of drawing related apps. I am not an artist, but this helps me make creations I do enjoy. Free is ok depending on how hard core you are. But at this point I do subscribe because I’m using the app more to help reduce stress during this pandemic and racial issues in USA. I have to focus on what I’m doing so it serves as a distraction so to speak. The reason I give this 4 stars is because I need a feature. Sometimes I cannot tell where to draw next, I can’t find the next tracing step. I would like shadow draw to add an option/setting to make the trace ghost more obvious temporarily. Like with a soft yellow highlight. It is frustrating getting lost and having to hit back-forward skip steps to figure it out. This is why it is 4 stars for me. 5 stars if they can help me not lose the trace. It’s frustrating so you lose a star. But out of all the drawing apps like this, I keep coming back to this one.

Awesome if you just like to trace
I really love most of this app. The choices of drawings are fantastic. As far as actually teaching you how to draw, it needs some work. The shadow aspect is great for giving you a feel for the different strokes, but it would help considerably if you would give some kind of written instructions. It would also help to know when you are changing pencils (what they are changing to and why). I would also like to have the option as you advance to be able to see how the do the drawing up in a corner so you can practice along with the instructor without tracing. This would truly let you see how your skills are advancing.

AMAZING APP!!
I personally love art, and am always open to learning new things to improve my art skills. If you are like me, then this the perfect app for you. The tutorials are very easy to follow, because you actually get to trace over the guideline yourself, so that you can experience how to draw it instead of just staring at a picture and trying to copy it. I highly recommend this app to anyone who enjoys art, and/or wants or is willing to learn new skills. By far the best art app that I have downloaded. ShadowDraw developers, keep up the good work!!!

Great tool to dabble into the art of drawing
I think this is an awesome way to learn how to draw as a beginner. I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time and I’m happy I finally found it! It has many free drawings to try out and it’s super easy to use and understand. Props also to the customer support service, they’re very polite and respond quickly to any problem the users may have. It has a small team behind it but as many others have said, this app has great potential. It’s definitely worth a try!

I love this app.
I am not an artist. I am a ESL teacher. I like this because the lesson is easy to follow, there is a variety of lessons ie..eyes, cat and dog shapes, just to name a few. There are colors that let you shade and blend. I want to keep practicing the drawing. There are free lessons. It is a very calming exercise. Why 4 out of 5 stars because I am cheap and cannot afford to pay for the lessons so I wanted more FREE lessons. Although I can’t pay, that doesn’t mean that these lessons aren’t worth it. They would be very helpful for anyone who loves to draw or who enjoys expressing themselves artistically.

Trouble with the guided steps
I really love this app, and I definitely find it useful, the most useful I gotta say. But it’s really frustrating sometimes to complete the guided steps because it will send me to the next step when I haven’t finished drawing the previous step, and that can make you loss all progress, if you’re not careful so it’ll be nice if developers made an option to switch to the next step manually once you’re done drawing, to avoid interruptions. Unless they fix that part I can’t really recommend paying for the subscription

I am new to drawing and LOVE this app
I am completely new to drawing and have learned an enormous amount from ShadowDraw. I have been learning to draw for about two months now and use this app every day to both practice drawing exercises, but to learn new forms to draw with pencil and paper. I highly recommend this app for both beginners who want to learn how to draw and have an easy way to practice, and to intermediate levels who want an easy way to practice their fundamentals.

You have to pay to do anything past the tutorial
Listen, I understand nothing in life can be free, but there was no warning or way of knowing none of the courses are free past the tutorial and the daily free sketch. And if there are any, there's no way of sorting out the free ones. I was promised (or at least lead to believe) I could spend at least 10 minutes drawing and learning. Lots of potential but there's nothing to do in the app if you are on a budget or just can't afford monthly payments. Maybe if you chose to watch an ad to open a course or something? Anything other than paying money, please

Great Product and Great Service!
I tried this on a whim having some curiosity about drawing and having taken other online courses in the past. Frankly, it feels like having fun with the learning just happening as you follow along. But, in that process of following along, you get used to the movements, proportions, shading and concepts in a very unobtrusive manner. I Really like what they are doing here and am excited to see where they can take this. This is a great course for most levels or ages. It’s a great summer drawing course for kids. Here’s the cherry on top. I had a small issue which I reached out about via their in app chat function. Amazingly I got a quick response and resolution. It’s wonderful seeing a small local group of people doing their best. Real people doing real things. Love it and Happy To Support.

Useful
I use it every morning to basically just keep me drawing in any way possible. I agree with others that it really doesn’t teach you how to draw. To be fair I just to the daily lesson for free, but it teaches you how to trace. Which is fine, I started with tracing when I was a kid and it’s a valid method to learn some things. I mostly use it to practice inking, honestly. I hit “add personal touches” after the drawing, then ink it, using the delete objects eraser when I’m done to get rid of the guidelines. So, it’s a useful tool for beginners and a useful tool for inking.

Great app
ShadowDraw is an amazing app and I LOVE the setup for the different lessons. It’s really easy to use and extremely helpful. The only problem is that I can only do one or two lessons a day without having to pay. You need to purchase the subscription to get any lessons that aren’t the free daily one or any of the basic “getting started” lessons. I understand that you need a way to make money, but you should unlock at least like three lessons a day so we can actually do them.

Finally a drawing app that really help!
I tried almost all learn to draw apps in the app store. Most of them don’t really do much, Have poor art...etc. this app really in the beginning in terms of variety of courses but it really works. I always wanted a step by step walk through with a real artist feel and here it is. So glad i found this app. It’s great for beginners and would love to give it a try with my kids and see how it works for them !

Good over all app
I like this app. The in app purchases are good and fair prices. I am excited to see what I can learn and how I can improve on my drawing techniques. I feel though that heir should be more options for the different books, but the ones that are included are solid and can be a great starting point. Over all the pencil and interface is smooth and streamlined. I think it would please a lot of people. This app is worth the download.

Doesn’t actually teach you to draw
I went into this app with excitement to refine my skills and try out new techniques and subjects I don’t normally draw but the app unfortunately doesn’t teach you how to draw. It’s basically a tracing app, all you do is trace over what the “artist” has already drawn. There’s no option to draw on your own without guidelines or any way to learn the fundamentals of shapes and practice them within the sketch. So while at the end you end up copying the example that’s all you do, just copy. This app would be amazing if it had the tools to truly instruct.

VERY disappointed
The reason why I’m disappointed in this app game is cause I liked it at first it was good but the. I starting scrolling down to see all the other stuff and you don’t know how excited I was that I saw how to draw cats I clicked on it and my face DROPPED into a confused and sad face so I went to smth and it said I could play it but there’s only a few things to play I just want a app game that can help me draw cats and bodies better so I could but I guess it is to hard thank you very much I can come back if you let more to the ones who don’t subscribe do stuff.

This app is really helping me
My hand eye coordination isn’t very good. The “see then follow” method this app uses is helping me gain control over some of the involuntary jerkiness I have. Marty, the developer is extremely responsive to comments and even looked into a style of drawing I’d like to learn. I was thoroughly amazed at how quickly he acknowledged my messages and then asked me what I was looking for. I’m looking forward to improving my drawing skills using the Shadow Draw app.

Great for aspiring artists!
As someone who has just recently begun to draw from reference images on Pinterest and is looking to actually learn how to draw, this app is perfect. I learn best from the step by step process and ShadowDraw is right up my alley. I asked if they had a free draw section where I could put what I’ve learned into my own works, and was reassured that the update was coming, so I can’t wait to use that part of the app.
