This app, just like others, had us skeptical but the interactions are real and genuine. Using the app has also been an easy experience. Only issue we’ve come across as paying members is the “viewed us” tab doesn’t show us who’s browsed our profile even though we get messages of people saying they have. Not the biggest issue but still would like to know these things.
This has been a great app that complements the website very well. It is easy to navigate and you can tell with each up date they are working hard to fix the small bugs that happen every so often. I have three issues or I would have give it five stars. 1. When the app auto renews the monthly subscription it does not update on the website. You become an unpaid member and can not see pictures that have been unlocked to you by other members. That leads me into number two. 2. You can not see or manage your private or personal photos. If we could do that it would help some of problem in number 1. And 3. You can not see as many profiles on the app as you can on the website. This must be due to some type of inappropriate pictures. But the only way to see some profiles is to search for them, if they message you or you made them a “friend” on the website and they show up in your favorites. I have noticed i have more people that have viewed on the website than the app. So as I said the app complements the website very well if you use them both together, but hopefully they are working to make it so the app can work independently from the site.
Great app but we got a few things we need to discuss
Yes this app is great love the people Ive me. Why is that if I'm listening to music and I go open the SLS app the music pauses. I play it again , I go back to the app the music stop. The only time the music will stay playing is after the app has loaded and it's the home page. But just cause you go into a different app the music in the background shouldn't just stop on its own. I would like if I'm signed into the safari, when I click save password, SAVE THE LOGIN INFO. Why do I gotta keep logging in and closing save the login info? If I blocked somebody, when I log in I shouldn't see their profile under my viewed me or who's near me. If you're blocked there shouldn't be anymore or any kind of interaction between the parties. There's this glitch with the app connection or software where outta nowhere the app will crash and nothing will load, " server error no connection retry". I got T-Mobile so I know it ain't me. When I'm searching for new people what ever filter I used I want it to stay the same when I'm going back and forth between profiles. Y'all need to update ALOT !
This app is functional… mostly… the rating is reflective of the app and not the website or services they provide there. We are paid members. Pros: the services provided by this company are very good on the whole and the user experience on the website is great (but not the app). Cons: searching on the app is terrible and preferences for it are ignored by the app, app will discontinue music being played if app is opened, favorites are unavailable, private galleries are default unlocked on the app to other paying members but not on the website, The ‘who viewed me’ section is broken and push notifications don’t work at all. If I was using the app on vacation, it would be almost entirely worthless away from my laptop. Would be nice: a way for the two people that share the account to log on individually so that a chat can be had amongst all parties. Though one person may be the communicator, this is not always the case. This app has potential, but as it stands there are many ways for it to improve. For a paid service, I would expect a polished app and not something like this. It needs major improvements. I will gladly change my rating if it is repaired and improved.
People on the app are amazing. The app, not so much
It’s really difficult to load photos, depending on when you try to do so. Sometimes it takes weeks. Updating your profile can take days. You are constantly matched to your own profile especially if you search by distance. The messaging server is constantly down which requires an additional form of communication. So more often than not, you express your interest in a person or couple or event and then have to exchange other contact info because it takes forever to communicate through the app. That being said, the search bar is amazing, you can adjust just about anything your into while searching. The connections are great, and other than what’s stated above the match feature is awesome. This app feels like it’s straight out of 1997, but the SLS community is full of understanding people that genuinely love to make connections. How about making it easier for us to do so?
Was an SLS member for nearly a decade...but a recent security issue prompted us to terminate our membership. Yes, the mobile site is different from the website, but the data security is the same. The SLS site has long been considered “antiquated”, but the app was an improvement on the approach. Obviously the drawbacks of the iOS environment (specifically with pictures) are not the fault of SLS. That said, a “virus” prompted SLS to take the entire service down for several days. With no legitimate explanation (aside from a canned response), one should seriously consider the privacy of their information. Discretion in the lifestyle is utmost importance and, unfortunately, I don’t believe that SLS takes this matter seriously. Before downloading this app, visit the website and determine if you feel comfortable that it conveys confidence in security. I would imagine that it will not.
Ok but Application Issues - Development/staffing issues maybe?
I like 75% of the app as it does give some nice features to compliment the website…. But let’s go through these issues: 1) our last viewed only shows single guys. Advised support. Was told to use the website until this is fixed. Issue was reported in May. Now I have to use the website on the mobile even though there is an app. 2).pictures that you have permission to view on a profile will ask you if you want to request per Is soon to view. See comment about the website thing above. 3) no way to view or control extra galleries. 4) I am not seeing how I can access groups. 5).I have had issues where the message types and I click on send. The message never appears. So now I send messages in “chunks” and try to get off the SLS message system as soon as I can. I stopped reporting these because getting the “our developer is working on it” over a 5-6 month period makes me thing the development is on a part time basis or there are deeper issues and reporting more bugs is just going to fall into “fez release”.
This platform was created in 2001 and it feels like it hasn’t made may advances in technology since then. The app is laggy. The app does not reflect the same information that the website does. For instance, the website generally shows way more people who have viewed your profile or newest matches compared to the app, which does not show nearly as many views. You cannot use the chat room feature from the app like you can on the website. The filters for searing for other users are not very specific. When using the app often times when you press the back button from a users profile for pictures it will bring you all the way back to your homepage. Then you have to start all over.
The app’s sole purpose is to facilitate communication and aside from having a good population base that uses it, this platform is terrible to operate. The messages tab doesn’t notify you that you have messages, half the time you have to refresh the page just so you’re able to send a response, and the app itself isn’t even working. I have to use the web-based login to access my account. Even the search features are awful. To top it off, there are notifications to upgrade to a lifetime membership because their monthly recurring rates are going up. I hope all the additional income goes directly into fixing these issues because it’s not even worth the rates they’re currently charging. All I do know is it won’t be my money. I cancelled my account. Definitely not worth it.
One of the issues in the lifestyle! Issss It feels stuck in the 80s ... improvement to apps like this is a much need ! The more people who have a positive experience . The app & website is good, yet people need to be more specific.
I wish people are more open to whom they would like to enjoy more than another in a relationship, as us I have a hall pass. Yet, if someone wanted her, then okay. This app is loaded with technical issues and does not work. It constantly has errors and can’t do its basic functions like open, show messages, add photos, and report technical issues. YET it somehow manages to collect your monthly payment! It just doesn’t provide what it claims it will once it collects your $20. I’m not sure what the point is in paying for it since the money seems to go only to someone’s pocket and not to operating this stupid thing. Obviously I’m requesting a refund, but I doubt I will receive it. Don’t download it!! Don’t pay for a subscription!! It can’t deliver any services and you’re just putting money into some selfish person’s pocket. Such a disappointment. Feeld and OKCupid are much better apps that actually work and cater to the Lifestyle as well.
Here is one example , who viewed me , every time I have to change the setting to say any on pictures to see who all looked , don’t know why it’s not a setting that is saved once you select it. Second , if I sign in on the app it might say nobody sent a message , if I turn around and sign in on the laptop I might have 2 messages that the app didn’t see , not sure why that is but 30 seconds later there on the laptop and not on the app and I checked the app first kinda odd But I like the fast look on the app , but there fixing stuff on it every week I think so maybe it will get fixed soon
I like the style of this site. It allows me to display any pictures that I choose for my profile. It also allows me to be clear about who I am and what are my interests. I recommend it for anyone that wants to meet new people. Like any other website, it has its “bad apples” and “spoilers” like people that are hacking and even phishing for scams. I would not let that prevent me from exploring this site. I always get to know the person in order to have a meaningful and productive dialogue. Like any other task it is a “trial and error” learning experience.
It’s very buggy. Doesn’t sync well with website in many areas. Instead of trying to continually introduce new features maybe consider overhauling the app and making sure what you have currently actually works. Their updates take forever between releases and even the feedback and support functionality crashes lol. The main site is archaic and the app has potential but the execution is garbage. There are much better, smoother and more modern platforms out there. I think many are getting fed up with the constant problems, which is sad considering we are lifetime members.
As a single young man myself I haven’t been dating since my house burned down from the camp fire in California back in 2018. So I’ve decided to use this site just to get back out there and have fun. It’s 100% legit and worth the price but there’s one problem. Single men you’re gonna struggle finding women or couples to have fun with because legit people who are on this site are extremely picky and once they add you on social media they unfriend or block you in 2 days when you didn’t do anything wrong. I bet it’s a fun site for women and couples out there. But for single men you’re gonna rough a rough time finding fun unless if you’re over 35.
Let’s face it, finding new friends in the lifestyle is like dating. SLS gives us a chance to “vet” people before we commit time and effort to meet them. We have had great... and not some not so great, experiences but the great always outweigh the not so. SLS connects us to what is happening in our local area and when we travel, it connects us there too! (We’ve had some awesome vacation hook ups!) I know this sounds like a fake, promo review but it’s not. It’s real and we’re really happy that SLS is here each and everyday! Great job and keep it up!!!
I am on a X ios 14.5.1. It's a good app for "on-the-go". I have found some gaps versus the website. Such as, I was given access to private pics, which I can view on the website, but not the app. However, this is not the case for all profiles. In my experience, some profiles DO allow private pics to be viewed on the app. Also, my Favorites list is blank. The good news is: If you allow notifications, it will tell you when you have a birdie (new mail). It's also "one button", to log into your account and see who's on. A good, handy app! Just not a replacement, yet IMO.
We’ve been using (on) one month. The profiles, unless it’s an usual poser/scammer/obvi, are detailed. Pictures are clear. Messaging is easy. Occasionally the app I’m inundated with masses causing a virtual wait-in-line while the system catches up. Within a few minutes, however, the profiles return to normal run time. We’ve met some friends. Enjoyed fabulous conversations. For those to whom we’ve responded with a “no thank you,” deleting and/or blocking is as easy as tapping a button. Piece of cake.
The site itself is not bad at all compared to other sites we’ve visited. And when the app works it’s not bad. But I’m am having constant log in issues. Often when I attempt log in I will get an error message about a server error and the request timed out. Once or twice a week I have this issue and I can’t log in. It’s incredibly frustrating especially since I have the paid membership. Other people who I have talked to have the same issue. What’s the problem? This app could be awesome but this issue makes it ok at best.
In the last month, I signed up for this app, it’s been a complete horror. The app does not work as it is designed, and the flaws are exposed by hackers and evil people who use your information to blackmail you. I’m currently involved with a police report and contacted the FBI to report the hack and attempted extortion by a paid member against me. The individuals contacted me by text and a third-party app to arrange a meeting, and instead took my photos and threatened to share them with the public and my family and Facebook and Instagram followers. They demanded $500. And are continuing to demand money. if you’re going to join the site, be aware that it’s been infiltrated by criminals.
"Hi there, apologies for the inconvenience. The website was undergoing maintenance during the time of your review". - that's their only response to the many many legit complaints. Anyone with half a technical brain knows this is ridiculous. Don't give them your money. The minute another site gets any kind of membership momentum, these clowns are done. They are scraping every penny they can and putting NOTHING back into the site. Go elsewhere. Edit: Resist the temptation to pay them any money at all. At least a month in (read complaints below) and STILL no resolution to a totally non functional app. But they're still taking in the money...
I can’t believe how awful this app is. For being a major lifestyle site that people pay $100 a year for a subscription, they need to pay for a team of app developers to completely redo this app from scratch. Absolutely nothing works at all. It’s so buggy and glitchy I can’t even use the menus at all because they are cut off from the screen. For people that have a new iPhone 14 pro, the screen resolution is way off and the menus are cut off a the top of the screen making them unusable. I have to click on something at least 10-15 times before it actually loads. This app is a waste of time. Don’t download it.
Where do I start? First of all, we’ve met a few good people on here. That not withstanding, the app never or hardly ever updates, I’ve had a lot of missed messages, that never came through until long after it was sent. I’m having billing issues that are not getting resolved where I’m charged twice the monthly amount and instead of refunding my money they just credit extra months. However, today I was charged five times the normal amount cleaning out my bank account. Thus, having my bank reps seeing my lifestyle choices in my bank statement. Now, here again, I get no response from calling or emailing anyone. Not happy with it. Be Leary of using the recurring billing.
The interface is absolute trash, but more importantly there are hardly any users. And even less attractive users. It maybe shows less than 5 couples in my area. 10 years ago it would show well over 100 and new people joined all of the time. Day after day you will see same 5. They also have a dumb picture rule that requires that you show your face if you want it to populate. In other words, people browsing can’t see your profile picture unless they click on your profile. Why would anyone click on your profile unless they see a picture that makes them want to? I canceled after two weeks. They can keep the money.
UPDATE I’ve used this app for about 6 months now off and on. I think for younger users (21- mid 30s) singles, and Black males it will disappoint. Most of the users in the lifestyle from my experience are older. Late 30s and up. I wouldn’t recommend the paid version just to communicate with people on here, especially for singles. From my experience there is very little communication going on in the DMs. You also cannot like or comment on pictures. A lot of people may view a profile and never say anything lol. Also this site caters more to married couples who swing, who tend to look for other couples who swing and occasionally, and very rarely, play with singles or solos especially during these COVID times. This however is a good resource for newbies like myself to see what couples in the lifestyle look for in potential playmates and places to meet other like minded individuals in the lifestyle.
Let’s face it: the SLS website is garbage, but at least it has more features than this craptacular app. This is a beta version of the software at best and a complete waste of bandwidth at worst. Missing features abound and the dated design of the website has not been addressed at all in this app. If you’re hoping for a polished, finished, full-featured app that is worthy of the iOS platform, look elsewhere. By the way, if you’re hoping to meet the people pictured in the screenshots for this app, or even people who might look remotely that good, think again. The people who actually use the service look just like everyone else you know. Except older.
This app started out fantastic. About a week in it started having issue with loading to doing basic functions. Now it won’t load at all, I have tried several times and even removed and reinstalled, it’s getting hung up on load screen and won’t go further. I also noticed that it’s very sluggish on the load in screen from when it was working due to the video that runs at the start. I would hope for some advice or help to get the app running again so I can add more stars because I don’t care for the web version as much given that it’s harder to see events.
The website Certainly is better for now, but the app has made progress in terms of keeping up with bandwith. However, it’s not perfect but workable, there are still server related issues I see often on the app, and bug issues that need to be addresssed by software engineers.. regardless of the bugs I was still able to meet people, this is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5
This app hasn’t had a significant update in like 4-5 YEARS! All the same glitches reported and complained about are still in the app with no hope of them being fixed. No email, can’t see event attendees, Home Screen show all single males, who viewed me is entirely different from the browser version, still flooded with fake scammer profiles, can’t report them because error, no message push notifications still! Really? AIM had this in 1998??!! Don’t waste time or effort on the app. Just use the browser version. After all, that’s what support has been telling people for years anyway!
I submitted feedback through the app about there only being a man and woman option, no nonbinary option and the fact that if you are trans and select your gender, the app will reverse it within a days time to the gender assigned at birth. This is what their response was: (this app is so poorly made that I couldn’t copy the text without it crashing several times) “Your gender/sex is determined at birth. It has nothing to do with feelings or how you identify. This has nothing to do “with the times”. It is a fact of nature. “Phobia” mean fear. There is not fear here. It is just about being honest and telling the truth”
Getting rid of all the fake people on this site, that’s one, then I would add a “hell no” button where u hit it if you don’t ever what to see a profile come up on ur profile again! Also I would add a rating / scoring system where if ur an 8 u can to the 8 group and find a date or play! Because People on this site think their 10’s when there 2’s! 10’s don’t have anything less! Well if ur a 7 u don’t want a 2-3-4 Etc u may take a 6 but no lower! Hire me I can make this site 10X’s better then it is!
Well, I have been a member for several years, and sometimes run into the a potential chance to download the app. I am always disappointed that the app fails to load (even after another fresh install). There has been no update in over 6 months. When I contacted support, they were blunt an honest that I should not use the app, but the web version. I appreciated that. I understand that updates do happen from time to time to keep up with things, however I have not seen anything changing on the app. It does not load for me. I am an Unlimited Lifetime member, so I feel I can shoot my mouth off about the app. The website running via the phone is clunky - but does work. I would guess that with a working app, data would be not as seriously used due to compression and other programming nuances. Please invest some resources into this or fire the team that is not making progress that I can see.
Been on the site a few years now I guess. Pretty good layout, haven’t had the chance really to meet people from here due to COVID and just life in general, plus now I’m going solo since the other half left. The support responses could use some overhauling and shorter wait times. The app otherwise, has a good platform and it’s smooth to operate. 4 Stars and a smile from me..
Been attempting to use this app for 2 years. Website is robust in comparison. Been waiting and hoping updates would correct the deficiencies that are blatantly obvious. “Who viewed me” does not update for months on the mobile app. Picture upload has many issues. At the present time I am not sure why I even bother to check my account from the app. Good idea but it lacks so much!! Don’t bother installing until MAJOR updates are done.
Well I would like to have a relationship like I once did with a bi or straight woman. Not so much so that I could fool around with other women but so that I could have someone to hang with and share my life with. So it leads to this when I write someone to try and strike up a conversation most people don’t even reply. The least someone could is be polite and say sorry I’m just not interested. The app has a lot of good features that are similar to the website and looks more modern than the website. I have noticed that every now and then the app goes very slow and has server issues here and there. Also, the events never load when you tap on them. The people on the loading screen just keep dancing and dancing.
Was a little behind for the times when I first got the app. Gets better and easier and more user friendly with updates. Has updated since i last used it and it’s definitely coming along nicely. Still some things that could be improved but they seem to be making progress pretty quickly. Soooo much better than using a mobile browser.
The user base on this app is amazing. It’s great to find people locally, see the events, clubs and other features. However, with that same comment, it is shocking to see the app development be so bad with the messaging and errors that happen daily. Hoping the creators will take some of the feedback and problems that have been there for years and fix them.
I only gave it 4 stars bc there’s no way to search profiles of single men and women if your interests are only marked for couples. We don’t want a bunch of single people seeing our profile and messaging us thinking we want that all the time. But we aren’t always looking for a couple and would prefer to be able to save search settings without changing our profile settings.
We have met a select few of great people on this site. We love looking and reading profiles. The only two things that I would say this site needs is. Being able to post videos and having a better way to live video chat. I wouldn’t need or use other site’s.
I am poly and I like to watch… While I am new to using this site…. The lifetime membership fee WAS HUGELY ATTRACTIVE to me… I know that a fair amount of accidental poly happens when play partners catch feels and the history and the consumer base is both wider and well established… the chats the webcamming… this is an improvement on any poly dating app there is… I am hoping we LS mates can be a co-community of open minded, emotionally mature ppl.
We have had success on find matches as a paid member. But the app needs improvement. It does not sync with what is going on with the web version of the service. Many matches and profiles that view us do not show up on the app that can be seen on the web version. So you are totally depending the app version, you may be missing out on a lot of possibilities.
The app works great! Talking about the lifestyle I would say that more young (age) but mature (mentally) people should be in the lifestyle but otherwise the app works greats the site is really good and overall the experience has been all positive and mostly everybody is very warm, mature, respectful and very clear with their desires what the app helps to share for everybody to see and be able to connect.
Has problems signing in. And will not let you use some of the features that are on the regular side. Once those things are corrected do you have a good thing here. Also you can’t see some of the things that on the regular side. Good move though
I’ve downloaded this app multiple times and I can’t log in. I just get a loading screen. I can close app and then I open it and it’s still loading. I can completely exit and open and it’s still loading. Turn my phone off and back on and it’s still loading and uninstall and reinstall and it’s still loading. Nothing wrong with internet or data. The website works but the app will not. I have no idea if it’s an iPhone 14 problem or iOS 17 but I’m frustrated
I like the community on this site, I’ve been able to meet some excellent people, which is the only reason I keep trying with the app. There’s a major flaw where my paid membership keeps wrongly reverting to a free one, disabling the features that make the app viable for meeting others. If it was a one-time glitch, fine, but it’s ongoing. Support hasn’t actually helped but they keep closing the tickets I submit. Very disappointed.
Update Jan 2021 It’s the only APP I’ve found to meet respectful LS members for the most part. But the app is soooo slow. Even support takes DAYS to message back and cryptically! NEEDS BUG FIX UPDATE BAAAAAY. SPRING 2020 Couldn’t upload profile pics for 4 hours even after signing up to be a new Paid member. Strange. Lost my confidence after awhile. App developer should look at lead times for profile pic to go public Especially with a Paid member. So far I like the profiles I’ve seen on site.
I thought this might be a good addition to my phone, but apparently I was mistaken. I managed to successfully log in once, but kept receiving the “server error” message any time I tried to do anything. Yes, my connection to the Internet is working just fine. Additionally, using Touch ID doesn’t work much better. I still have to scroll through a list of my passwords, find the SLS password, select it, and then tap LOG IN. A good app only requires a person to use their Touch ID and then it automatically fills in the correct UID and Password and logs you in. Maybe V.7.10 will work better!
Been using the app for 1.5 years and they still can’t figure out how to send you message notifications. I lose interest pretty quick because I have no way of knowing without opening the app over and over to check messages. Hire a decent developer already. Other top complaint, support will bully you to death if you dare share a link with a friend to a party. Zero tolerance if you take anyone’s attention from their app or site.
