The app works flawlessly with my IPhone 11 and I enjoyed taking pics of my receipts. It lets you write the amount in as well then, you can print a report. You choose how you want the report to come out. I liked it and was going to buy it but saw you could only buy a subscription at $11/year. I have to be honest and say I don’t like subscriptions. I prefer to buy the app outright. It enabled me to print a report to another app. The pics did not come out too clear but were still readable. If the developer could make the pics clearer it would be good. The camera on my iPhone does take very clear pictures so it was the app that did not focus on the receipts enough to produce clear pics.
Works great for tracking receipts and categorizing expenses immediately. Offers the ability to run multiple expense reports at once so I am able to track my receipts for consumables in one report and each depreciation schedule in separate reports. This makes tax season a breeze. The only issue is this year I had a large amount of receipts into the app and when the report was exported the pictures of the receipts were pixelated from the size being dropped. The app needs to have to ability to save the receipt photos at their full pixel value and then have the ability to export the reports by either logging into an online drive or send the report to the iCloud. This would allow you to receive your full report on your computer where you need it without losing the picture value of your receipts by having to send them report in an email with limited space.

Owning a business can stress and add taxes to that it can be even more stressful! This app really takes the stress and work out of organizing all your receipts and tracking your mileage! I love that I can create a pdf for each month and come tax season I just hand it all over to my CPA! Keeps me and him all organized! The yearly fee is a great price as well! Customer service is amazing! I had a question on how to renew and they were so polite and then even offered to update when another issue was resolved and they actually remembered to update it! Highly recommend!!!
I am self-employed and have to track all of my expenses. This app is very customizable, incredibly easy to use, and for $10 a year a screaming hot deal. Sure there are a few little annoying bugs but the benefits dramatically outweigh those little issues. Tech support is very responsive and respond quickly. You really can’t go wrong if you are looking for an easy, efficient app to track expenses.
I was excited about this app because it’s so easy to use and has the metadata recognition that actually works for once, but then I realized the year I paid for still didn’t give unlimited receipts! The pricing is burried in the app description but doesn’t show up clearly when you upgrade. It gives you only a certain number of scans for $9.99 and then you have to buy more but it doesn’t clearly say how many for how much. It just happens. Worst of all, if makes you sign in and when you do, it crashes immediately after you reopen and try to add scans. Worthless and now I’ve scanned all these receipts and will have to integrate them into a new app. I want a refund!!!
This app has greatly reduced the time involved in getting my expense reporting done. However, there are some areas where improvements are desperately needed. The buttons on some screens are invisible and you have to just poke around and hope you find them. Sharing the full pdf report is also problematic, and it would help if the created pdf would automatically be named with the name given to the report. I hope you can implement these changes and then I will update the review to 5 stars!
I’ve been using Smart Receipts for 3 years and have loved being able to get rid of paper receipts. I use the paid version for their backup feature. But I also manually back it up each month as a safety net. I wish they would make it possible to backup and print all my folders, rather than having to do them all individually.
I had a simple question and at the bottom of the instruction document was an email address. I sent my question and received a personal response very quickly with my answer. Also, when I sent my app-generated expense report to my employer for reimbursement, she told me she was very impressed with the format.
I used to used another bookkeeping app but they recently stopped the free option so I was looking for a free app. This app won't OCR anything when taking a photo of a receipt. Everytime I have to type the price, make sure the date, and change the categories, payment methods, etc. But it's free and I'm using this app to keep my receipts record which is helpful when I want to return something. For my purpose this app is good enough.
The app works to keep track of stuff from my mobile welding business. It’s way more convenient than my mess of papers. It is hard to actually figure out how to get an expense report printed out. Those of y’all in tech support wouldn’t have a problem but for those of us who don’t even have a smartphone it’s pretty challenging. (The app is for an iPad I only use for business)
I downloaded this app because my company got rid of our expense tracking system and went back to excel and paper receipts. I wanted something free just to organize my receipts separately from all my other photos. I was immediately given a warning to setup automatic backups (in beta). Yet when I click this it automatically charged 10 dollars. If you are going to charge for a feature, it should not be in beta. Also, a warning indicating that a charge will occur should be required. I won’t use this app, despite its otherwise favorable reviews.
I have been using this app for two years with no issues until today. For some reason my expense report is not being received when emailed. I have tried sending it to three different email accounts with no luck. When trying to contact support, I receive a message 403 Forbidden - We are sorry. You have been restricted from accessing this helpdesk page.
If you travel and you need to keep track of receipts, this is by far the best app. I’ve tried a few, to me this one has it all. Not only that, but it gets regular updates and developer actually listens and responds to comments. Definitely one of the most valued productivity apps on my phone.
This app is great! Specially for my business. It helps you keep track of all your receipts and allows you to log all of your expenses. The best part it allows you to turn in for your company's taxes on a spreadsheet for easy calculations when doing write offs. The only problem I have with this app is that it doesn't allow you title the receipt the way you need to. But still an awesome app!!!!!
Tried to save a back-up file. When I export it and choose a location in my Files, there is no button available to enable you to “save” to the specific file of your choice. You are just left scrolling through different files, with no way to select one. I have to close the app and reopen it to get back to the main screen. Need to fix this bug. I’m using an iPhone 12 mini.
Great app for tracking receipts, saves time compared to taping and scanning. Loses a star for obnoxious video game type ads that last several seconds when you submit a report (I’m fine with having ads on a free app but those are annoying and incongruous with a professional type app).
One of the few apps thats actually usable as the free version and worth it. The features with the paid version are also worth it, makes life easier. Definitely recommend to give it a try, its free after all.
I’ve been using Smart Receipts for a couple of years now, and really like it. I was previously using an app that cost multiples and had only limited additional functionality. Smart Receipts does everything I need just fine!
You guys are phenomenal; this is so easy to use! You can even add your own categories! I had tried many other apps and this one to me is the best, and thank you so much for letting us people use it for free!
It's a pretty good app, but I paid for 50 OCR scans that is supposed to scan the receipt and look for vendor, pricing, etc. It scans it every time and has yet find any relevant data so I have to manually put in the info. Totally useless. I also paid for the premium and haven't needed that yet, but probably will. I'd definitely start off with the free version and absolutely recommend against buying OCR scans. It's a useless feature that's never worked.
I just purchased this app for $9.99 to find out, I just paid $10 to back up to my own drive. I still have to pay 10 cents per receipt in order for the OCR to recognize the receipt. I would like a refund. Don’t get duped. Just export the file. Do not. Pay $10 just to give smart receipts access to your cloud drive. I am writing this review approximately 10 minutes after paying $10 for a partially useless app.
I can say with a 100% confidence that I’ve never used an app that’s so unresponsive! It takes forever for the app to import an image/pdf from cloud. And then after creating the receipt, the app goes into a thinking mode which lasts at least a minute. Many times I force-kill the app while its thinking, fully knowing that the app still thinks even after processing my receipt.. I reopen the app and the receipt will be there saved!
I love this app! Would give 5 starts but the yearly subscription doesn’t give unlimited smart scanning of the receipts, you have to continue to buy, which is why I bought the app in the first place. To have to now enter all the info after take the picture is annoying! Other than that the app is fabulous.
For me, this app needs one improvement to be a 5 star—the ability to edit an entry. If that ability is currently available, I can’t find it, so it should be easier to find. Otherwise, I think this is a great app.
I love the app but can’t seem to get it to email my reports, which makes it useless if all the data is stuck on my phone. I have tried many times to email it to myself, and I never receive the email. What am I doing wrong?
I’ve tried several receipt apps while out here on the road trucking, this one is hands down the best I’ve used. Even without the auto scan function it’s terrific, but having the app auto read and fill in the data for you is a real time saver! Has a wonderful graph for each month, with a breakdown of all expenses. And the Smart Receipts app has many options for printing out monthly summaries, exactly what you need for end of year tax preparations. Class of 2005 Scott A.
I tried many that weren’t user friendly, limited the inputs I could make, or weren’t practical. This one is just what I was looking for, easy to use, not fancy, let’s me input with no limits and tells me my total amount spent and daily expenses.
I use both the expense & mileage .. Really wish I could sync them, easier to fill Mileage out on IPad. Also, need to be able to create shortcuts on the Mileage side.. I have a set call schedule every month.. Would be nice not have to retype it in all the time.. Would be a 5 star if these things happened..
All in all it’s a good app. Could use a little improvement like not paying to auto generate data on a receipt. Would also like the capability to send as an Excel document or have the capability to group/sort categories on the PDF. The app is easy to use and I would recommend it.
See title! I never miss a receipt because I capture the pic instantly. Also the report that is generated is helpful and all in one document making it very easy to send in one email with very few attachments. I really love it 😊

This is great for when you travel for work. It’s very easy to use, and keeps you really organized without having to keep up with receipts! My favorite app on my phone at this moment!
It would be move if the main screen of each invoices organized the expenses chronologically and by expenses category. For example, the main screen works show the airfare, meals, rental cart... and then each entry within each category sold Vert chronologically posted.
It’s a good f th issues are addressed: BACKUP: it’s linked to Google drive and it might be backing up, but the auto backup date does not update. So I’m never sure if it actually backed up or not. In general the auto backup needs to be fixed Date Stamp: receipts are uploaded with a certain date but for some odd reason sometimes the dates show up as one day before or one day after, no matter how much we try to edit or fix it. Moving items up and down: This feature sometimes does not work. No matter how many times we try, for some items it doesn’t work.
You cannot allocate expenses to a specific project. If you work on several projects simultaneously you have to download to a CSV file and reorganize manually which is frankly a little waste of time. This would be a huge help if this could be considered especially since I had purchased the premium version for this reason…..
Love this app. Makes expense reporting so much simpler. I used to cut, paste, scan receipts and spent countless hours organizing and submitting at the end of the week. Now I take a picture when I’m done eating and organize on the fly. Must have for road warriors.
I was really hoping that this app would help me save time on my trips. But I just spent nearly 2 hours working to get four images uploaded. Uploading files doesn’t work at all. Only uploading images. Based on how many hours I just lost in my first expense report I can tell you this app has now been deleted, and I encourage you to find another solution.
I purchased the paid version of this app. I started recording all my receipts for a project I was doing and it has deleted all of my receipts!! And if I want to back up my receipts to their cloud services it’s going to cost another $10! On top of that there is no support, if you press to their “email for support” button in the app, it doesn’t work! What am I supposed to do now that all my receipts have been deleted???? I want my money back!
This is a great all but I am still using expensify (unfortunately). This all is missing personal credit card integration which is a deal breaker for me. I have been told that this ability is very very expensive. I think it is worth the investment and the only way take out the big E

Not only is the app excellent for tracking expenses, but they responded to my email inquiry very quickly and stayed with me to help me get my settings just where I need them.
Gets the job done but is not very user friendly if you are 1/2 tech savvy then you can make it work, wish they did not charge for each receipt and just made it a monthly price of like 4.99

I don’t like the fact that when you generate a report to send to your email address it takes you to some third-party app and won’t let you get back to the original app so you have to close it out.
Very intuitive and flexible app. Does what it advertises. Like the product very much. 4 stars However, Had billing inquiry/question on auto-renewal and received little help with support and no resolution. Left frustrated after several circular emails. Based on this, not worth the frustration and my time supporting this platform.
