I don’t understand how this credit union can’t get this app correct still. Literally tried for 30 min to pay my bills through the app and received endless error messages. So now I have no clue if my payments were taken or not. Last time this happened my bills were double paid due to the App’s errors and Southland CU won’t cancel payments if they’ve screwed up.
What can I say? As a banker of 20 years, I am impressed both with SCU's ability to deliver and their app offering. It is functional, easy to use and simple. My only knock is that they are very restrictive on their mobile deposit policy, which is understandable given the risks, but if someone has a loan and is keeping 20x the deposit amount on hand, it probably is low risk to accept.
Feels like family. My only ask is that when the representative has to speak to a coworker about a situation related to MY account is that the conversation be in English. Talking about MY account in front of me in Spanish is not good!!!!! Somewhat rude and annoying. Thank you
A full service credit union with a great mobile app
I've been a member of SCU for 30 years. I love the new mobile app: easy to use and good security. Plus you can track your credit score. Thank you for continuing to improve the customer experience.
I’ve been with SCU for about 15 years and have never had a problem that wasn’t resolved (in my favor). I only wish they had more branches that were easy to get to, especially in LA. Besides that it’s a cool bank. App is easy to use & you can do most transactions on it.
The app keeps getting a renewed ui which is just difficult to deal with and try to find everything again. Also mobile deposits arent much helpful since they hardly work. You have to get the “perfect” lighting and wont deposit my checks even tho i have signed off on the back.
I updated the App and online website yesterday. I like the new look and easy to use the applications for BillPay and like that Zelle is now added. Real happy and easy to use for this old lady. LOL!
Overall, this is a great update. I especially love the access to Zelle. I sent money to a family member who has Zelle and it was in his account in minutes.
4 stars for new version. Re-enrollment wasn’t a hassle. Tried the snapshot thing but didn’t like that it’s automatic, so it’s disabled. Would greatly prefer a widget with snapshot info on my leftmost screen like the navy federal credit Union app.
I visit the Carson Branch. My heart is full of gratitude for the employees of this branch. They are kind, professional, and patient. I feel the island vibe and it feels like home at this beach.
It's taken them a while but it's finally here! This app is amazing, it's worked perfectly for me. I've been using this for about a week now and I haven't had a single problem. I would highly recommend this app for any southland member it's a quick, secure, and efficient to handle banking quickly and check your balance. More over I would recommend southland credit union as a whole. It is a wonderful financial institution, with great rates, and the best member service. Whenever I walk I into one of their branches, I am taken care of and feel as if I am really a valued customer instead of just another account. Join this credit union and get this app!!
Making Progress But Still Major Design Improvements Needed
The app has sort of improved over time but it is still a very poorly designed iPhone app. The interface hasn’t been updated for larger iPhone screens so everything feels shrunk down for a smaller phone which leaves these big black boxes around the edges. The screenshots for the app are totally not what the app looks like on an iPhone X. Sometimes Face ID activates but usually I have to enter my password. It’s difficult to navigate the application. I have banking apps from many different banks and Southland is the only banking app I have seen where you can’t see your balance when you login. It’s ironic that I have to select “Quick Account View” just to see my balance! There is no cohesive navigation and I often find myself lost in the menu options trying to figure out where something might be. My hope is that Southland brings their iOS app into the modern age ASAP. They’re a fantastic credit union and am eager for an application to match.
