It takes forever to upload. Edit
Hi, I’m a regular user of splice and I loved this app and used it for almost 8 month now. I liked this app so much that I purchased yearly subscription but I’m really disappointed 🙁cause its not working fast and efficiently anymore. Media files I want to work on, they take forever to upload to splice from gallery to work on. It’s happening for past month now. Earlier I was able to quickly transfer large files ,more than 30 min clips within seconds to splice and edit them. Now even if I make 5-10 min videos and try to transfer them to app for editing they just don’t transfer… Secondly I was able to edit my iPhone 13 pro max 4K video earlier now after editing I have to reduce quality to 1080p so I can save my edited video to upload on my socials. Kindly fix these issues… guide me or I’ll have to cancel my yearly subscription. For all these reasons I would give Splice ⭐️⭐️ Thank you splice for resolving the matter. I feel splice has become better in past 2 months and I’m seeing some new features and music that i love. AI feature is Also great although i prefer to edit manually but hopefully I’ll get better with AI one day. Please increase music library and songs up to 3,4 minutes long. And make sure they can be used without any copyright infringements on all social media platforms.

Great features especially to animate photos except for music
I especially liked using the Ken Burns effect on still photos which worked much, much better - is far more versatile - and easier than its counterpart in iMovie. It’s relatively also easy to splice film clips together, too. Biggest complaint with upgrades made since summer 2019 is the loss of some of the holiday music (I had a hard time doing holiday video last Christmas) and other suitable music to use, and the loss of the feature which let you splice the free music together easily with fade-out options available at beginning and end. Also, most music supplied is too short (less than a minute) - my videos typically are 1-1/2 to 2-3/4 minutes in length. I now rarely use Splice’s music and have to import video clips I do here into iMovie or some other program to finish. Other complaint is not having special features with how text or titles displays such as the ability to have letters dropping down, or fading in and out, etc., like text features available on iMovie. However, I do like the colored text/type choices which can make text much easier to read on bright backgrounds. I also like the ease in selecting aspect ratio although it is limited to only 3 choices. Overall this is a nice, fairly easy to use editing package. I use it the most for animating static photos so they zoom in or out, move from side to side or even - on rare occasion - rotate, which is especially cool if done right.

Nearly perfect video editor!
This is a pretty amazing professional video editing app that has many of the features that you would expect from a professional video editing app! Even better, the app is so intuitive and so easy to use that you will feel like you are an expert of this app within just a few minutes of using it! It’s truly amazing! There is simply no comparison between this app and Apple’s iMovie. However, it could use a few small improvements, including more responsive technical support. We sent a few emails to technical support 4 or 5 days ago, and still haven’t heard back from them yet. Furthermore, the program makes some things more difficult than they need to be — for example, when you insert text onto a video clip, it ALWAYS makes the length of the text the ENTIRE LENGTH OF YOUR VIDEO CLIP with no quick way to change it. Other video editing apps insert text at just 5 seconds, and then you can quickly change it from there. There is also no way to pull the audio from a video clip and just use that audio as a narration track for other video clips. We also have continual difficulty trying to trim the end of a video clip by dragging the end of the video — this app often things that we are trying to MOVE the video clip. (We end up splitting and deleting to prevent this from happening.) Hopefully the team behind this app is listening and will continue to improve this app! It’s already an excellent app! :)

Includes MUSIC!!!!
So I got in a fight with my husband. I needed a gesture to say “sorry.” I wanted to do something that was easy because I wasn’t that sorry… so I thought it would be really cool to do a video of our life together and pictures set to music. I looked up a few of the apps in my App Store download it about six of them that were free (including this one). I figured I would go into each one of them after they were through downloading and see which one would be the easiest to use so I could throw something together…Well three of them made me put in my credit card information to open the app and wanted me to subscribe… Guess what, that’s not free!! But I finally opened SPLICE and it was AWESOME! It had songs, literally thousands, to choose from and the songs were free!!! It was so easy to understand how to do it and it had everything you could want as far as effects and editing capabilities…The only complaint I have is that while putting together my video and watching the pictures of me and my husband float across the screen, to music I absolutely loved, I started feeling more sorry. Thank goodness that even though this was an easy project to do it looks like it took a long time and a lot of effort, so It will convey the appropriate amount of “sorry.” GET THIS APP!!!!!!!

Love it, one major problem
I love this app. It is so easy and fun to use and I have been using it to make edits to keep for myself and share with my friends. I do not have a Splice Pro (the premium version you need to pay for) because I can’t exactly afford it. The last time I used this app was a few months ago, and I had no problems with it, and it was perfect. Today I decided I wanted to use it again, and made an edit, but then I came across a huge problem. The app doesn’t even let you save the video you made to your photo library unless you have Splice Pro. I tried to navigate this problem by screen recording, but it puts watermarks all over the video, making it really annoying to watch. I am very disappointed with this update to the app, and I understand that the developers need to make money, but the fact that we can’t even save our edits without paying is going too far in my opinion. This just made it so I can’t share the edit with anyone unless I show them in person (or pay the subscription). The subscription is usually around 5 dollars a week or so, and I don’t think I would be willing to pay 20 dollars a month for an app I don’t use that often. To the developers: I would recommend making certain filters and transitions and other things only available to premium members in return for making it so anyone can save their edits. Please consider it, sorry this paragraph is so long.

Splice has become a cash cow
I downloaded this app 7 years ago and fell in love with video production and editing because of it. At the time, Splice had pretty much anything you needed without any subscriptions or purchases. Over the years there have been updates that have significantly improved the app and added features like chroma key. The app was in a constant rate of improvement up until i think 2021 or 2022. Up until then I used the app very frequently and made many projects but I eventually stopped using it. I would go on every couple months but rarely made projects. At some point I realized they added a subscription for the app but since I already had the app installed everything was available for me. I was happy about that since I felt that made sense. I went on the app recently to make a video for a friend and was pretty shocked to see how the app looked like an advertisement explosion for a pro subscription. Pop ups everywhere and limited features. I realized I had the base subscription which I was fine with since I assumed you would still be able to use the app. Almost all the important features now require the pro subscription. Transitions, Music, Captions all require the pro subscription. The worst part, you can’t even export your videos anymore. You need the pro subscription to even save the video you made. It’s sad since I really loved this app in its prime and hate to see it become this. Download capcut or adobe rush

The tiniest bug literally makes the app unusable.
Compared to all the other editing apps on the market for IPhones, this one was seemingly the best editing app BY FAR in terms of subscription pricing and efficiency. The app never crashed, the layout is very simple to understand, and it’s easy to get the hang of...but there’s a bug that literally made me go back to my original review and lower the amount of stars I gave it from 5 to 2. I’ve only been using this app for a couple of hours and I began to edit pretty large media files on it. Everything was going perfectly well and I was happy, but I soon realized that what I thought was my mistake was a bigger problem than it appeared to be. Whenever I add an audio clip over a video clip, the audio clip just remains at 100% volume no matter what I do and it’s so frustrating because there’s no reason why it should be doing that. I’ve checked that I lowered the volume, I’ve deleted the audio clip and replaced it, and still the audio was at 100% blasting volume, completely ruining hours of hard work. I can’t add in background music because of it. It’s so annoying because I spent so much time perfecting every little detail of the video but when I went to add in music or sound, there was nothing I could do. It’s very disappointing because this app is great and I really like it, but I’m definitely going to cancel my subscription after I finish writing this review.

The BEST iPhone video producer ever
I’ve invested 17 years into video production beginning on Sony Vegas while my go to is always Adobe Premier. I’ve never been able to spend much time using Final Cut but that’s just it, they are limiting their reach and that limits the creative content ability on a global basis! Splice has been top tier FIRST CLASS easy to use enabling anyone with extensive or limited experience to build masterpieces! I accidentally paid for a year on a trial and at first I was upset because i hasn’t even had a chance to use it yet. Once I had been charged it coerced my mind to try it now because I didn’t want to pay I think maybe $60 or something maybe $100 I can’t remember but I was happy as ever and I’ll be backing these engineers for life. As long as they don’t support Mark Zuckerberg or Jeff Dean or David Nasser Basset and Department of Defense! Evil those people are and be careful as they will image your drive and replace your drive with their manipulated copy so keep a pixel encryption and close attention on Cloned signals like files out of place and file permissions and best thing is to keep it where they can’t even mess with it after they image it. They will almost always find ways to image it. So the trick is keeping it on lock down after imaging. Practice like that and they toast!

Absolutely great aside for a couple of minor inconveniences!
I am absolutely LOVING all of the new features, especially the fact that I can now use the text to make subtitles!! The design is sleek and modern, the view screen is bigger, there are more sound effects, I can crop it down to square size for Instagram, etc. I’m loving it! My only issues thus far have been with editing the music. I’m working on my big ‘ol iPad, yet I nonetheless have a reeeeeeeally hard time finding the hit box for the slide bar that’s supposed to help me “crop” the music. I end up just awkwardly moving it to the side instead of shortening or lengthening the clip, and it gets very frustrating. I had to get out my Apple Pencil in order to get the job done. The other thing I’m struggling with is that, with my projects, I usually work with small music segments. In the most recent one, I’m using only five seconds of the provided music. To do that, I unfortunately have to go aaaaaaaaall the way to the end of the video and drag it down to size little by little. Then again, I’m not sure if that’s because this app was made for bigger videos. Thus far, those are the only things I would change! This app is the greatest video editing app I’ve found up to date. I’ve been using it for about two years now. Thank you so much for providing this app!

Subscription
**EDIT** I was looking through the app and realized you can adjust the quality of the video to 1080p and the app allows you to download your video for free! Anything with the blue crown next to it means you need the subscription! Sorry for the confusion and very glad I can continue to use the app! I really enjoy this app. Simple and easy to use. I don’t use filter or adjustment on my videos. I just like to edit out clips that are kind of long. Mostly stuff of my family to share with them. I remove anything that’s not needed like if the camera pans to the floor or something. I haven’t used the app in a couple months and went to save a video I edited but unfortunately now that app has you pay for a weekly subscription of $4.99 or $9.99 a week. At this time it’s not something I can justify paying. I understand and absolutely agree creators should be payed for what they make. It would be nice if there was the option for the bare minimum of split, delete, speed up options for free and the subscription included their others affects and abilities the app has to offer. For now I’ll be on the lookout for another app to use, but if you have the ability to fit their subscription into your budget I fully believe this app is worth it.

Don’t use!!
I use this app so much this app I use more than any other app I use because I’m a YouTuber and so this is my main editing app next to CapCut CapCut my second one but looks like it’s gonna be my first one because this app totally makes me mad now that it has like a subscription and every time I try to export my video it keeps on telling me to get the subscription subscription it asked me three times to get the subscription pack when I was trying to export it I had to press export three times. I am more than mad. I’m furious because this was my favorite rap ever and I was able to use music and I was able to do a bunch of stuff that I could do in CapCut without a subscription. CapCut has extra cool stuff that I need a subscription for what this just put the subscription on completely random useful things just to get you to subscribe to the app, please do not get this app because it just cuts off everything you can do from Music all the way to like switching up the transitions and all you can do is put together simple video with no music no nothing and just added it basically just put some videos together and then export it after three times pressing the export button and waiting for the suggestions to end. You don’t get a free app unless you wanna pay $10 every month then yeah you could totally get it but I wouldn’t if you’re looking for a free app it used to be completely free thanks a lot splice you ruined my total career on being a YouTuber thanks a lot. 😡😠

READ THIS BEFORE DOWNLOADING 😤
I was VERY disappointed with this app. And the main reason is that you have to have a subscription for basically everything. You can’t use transitions without a subscription, you can’t use the audio that comes with the app without a subscription, YOU CANT HAVE MORE THAN 2 VIDEOS WITHOUT A SUBSCRIPTION. I tried to use green screen and guess what? I needed a subscription. We as the app users need wiggle room to let our creativity flow. All I can. Make are crappy little videos because I need a subscription for every little thing. This is not a very good app and if you think it’s a good app for all my fellow video creators, guess what? No. I suggest other apps like CapCut. Even the little starter IMovie is better than this app. Sure it’s review is 4.6, but please read this before you waste memory on an app that is not worth it! And if you do download it, I hope you learn a big fat lesson. I don’t want the developer to just say “So sorry for the inconvenience, thank you for leaving review”, or something, don’t say something, actually fix it because some people like me DONT want to pay a subscription, and rubbing a subscription in our faces isn’t going to help either. Please, see this, and fix it. 😡

What’s not to love with Splice?
Splice is so incredibly cool. As a long time TV news professional, working with top editors at network level, and in stations in major markets, I have an immense appreciation for editing, which creates the magic of video. I have and do use Final Cut Pro X, v.2. But when shooting video on my iPhone I prefer the simplicity and speed with which I can get video edited and online. Clean, quick, solid stuff. When I first wrote about Splice months ago, I wanted more features, but doubted single timeline editing could provide it. Now Splice has cleverly created other ways for me to use sound from one bit of video with the natural sound that is tied to the main video I’m editing. Until recently, I couldn’t separate video and sound, but in fact I now can by lifting sound and moving it around beneath another. This sounds more complex than it actually is. Overall, Splice is simply brilliant. And really, I learned quickly how to use it, intuitively. Just by trying it. Now there are tons of tutorials and it’s easier than ever. With continued development I think Splice could replace more complex editing systems. TV news is going to love it. -Don Knapp

Great app but only works for those who pay membership
So I’ve been using this app since 2016. I started video editing as a hobby after a school assignment. After that, I used splice daily to edit the videos I recorded of myself playing a variety of mobile games and to make family videos. Unfortunately, as years go by, even though Splice has acquired some very cool new features, I can now barely use it without paying something. Today I entered the app and found out that the crop and adjust features are now part of the app’s membership package. This was one of the things I liked most about Splice, that I could edit my videos using these features without having to pay. It’s still a great app though, but people like me, that can’t pay a membership, are continuously being affected by this nonstop economic interest that results in forcing us to stop doing what we love, which is video editing, and search for another and more suitable video editing app that doesn’t exists for free. Video editing apps shouldn’t be only for people that look forward to make money through them. There should also be apps for people that are just looking for a way to do what they like and feel satisfied with their own work. Splice is a great, very complete video editing app, but it is not for everyone apparently.

Splice please help me
Hi, I am Owen Walker and I am a young filmmaker. I'm 12 years old, and work hard on making movies. I like splice because it's fun and easy to use, but I'm having trouble with it. Sometimes when I edit it kicks me out of it, but That's not my main concern. As a filmmaker I never get around to making full movies so I kind of just make videos, But I kind a got real into a movie that's almost an hour long. I edited the entire movie with splice. But one day splice wouldn't let me in. It let me in the other projects but it didn't let me into that one movie, the only movie that I cared about. The movie is called secret kill, and I've been working on it and editing it and filming it for over a year. I've tried restarting my phone, but nothing works. It will kick me out 2 ways. One of the ways when it all started, it would load in now to get into it but then every time I got into it it kicked me out. And the other scenario is it would all the way get to loading it but at the last little area of the S it wouldn't load it would just stay there for hours and it never got there. In one day when it did get there, it just kicked me out of the app again. It makes me very stressed out because I don't wanna lose a project that I put a lot of my time into. Anytime I would just be having a normal day, I wanted to film because that's all I cared about. Please help.

Terrible Since Newest Update - 10/10 DO NOT Recommend
Newest update has made app glitchier and laggy (likely to force loyal users to upgrade to Pro for the ripoff price of $119/year), and as of this morning, the developers have now made simple features like reversing a video or exporting a video only accessible with a “Pro,” as well. For the exact same cost, you could just buy Canva Pro (which has 100x the design and media format capabilities of Splice and is mobile friendly), or for double, you could pay for Premiere Pro (which also has far more sophisticated editing tools AND integrates with other Adobe programs). It’s really shameful and disturbing that Splice is exploiting and manipulating a really loyal user base (in my case for 7-8 years) of content creators, social managers, and editing enthusiasts who have been grateful to have a product to accomplish simple but detailed editing without exorbitant costs. I’m guessing the new force on its long term subscribers to upgrade to Pro is to fund the developing/maintenance costs of this poor quality, irrelevant AI editor that literally no one asked for (and that could be offered in a separate app or plan tier). If you are looking for a solid, accessible video editor with functionalities like music extraction, clip reverse, speed controls, volume controls, and decent transitions at a reasonable price, I’d recommend switching to CapCut, Wondershare/Filmora, or basic Canva. RIP Splice.

Get capcut instead
Ok, so I’ve resorted to using my computer to edit. But if you want to use mobile to edit you should use capcut, capcut is 100% free and you can buy a subscription, but the subscription only gives you more effects. While splice pro gives you more effects, AND PLASTERS 200 GIANT WATERMARKS ON YOUR SCREEN AFTER YOU PUT WORK INTO THE EDIT! I spent hours working on a project, and sadly after I finished I realized It was covered in a trillion splice watermarks. This is one of those apps that is completely unusable unless you give them money. Also, capcut has free templetes for business, memes, cool edits, sad edits, literally whatever you want. The templates let you take a video or some photos and it will edit them with the edit the template is for, so you dont have to work. Oh also may I mention, THERE ISNT A WATERMARK! There is a watermark but they keep it small in the corner and also for some reason it doesnt even export the video with the watermark. Get a different software if ur on mobile, if not get something like premier pro(not free) or something like davinci resolve(free) if there is a software that makes the watermark completely ruin your videos, that is how you know they are money hogs. So DONT GET SPLICE. Ps: I would do 1 star but the editing is kinda good, its still absolute buttcheeks compared to every other software though. Like unity compared to scratch. -tony

Please fix!
I love Splice and everything about it, but there’s a problem with it. Maybe this might be my iPad or something to do with settings but if there’s anything you can do please take action - I was going all well with my animations that took hours to make individually. All of a sudden it said that Splice needed access to my photos (which I gave access to AAAAGEES ago). It said that the footage in my videos needed to be restored because somehow it got deleted but I checked multiple times that the footage I had in the videos was the exact same, and it was in my camera roll for certain. I deleted splice and downloaded it again, hoping it would do something. Now, my animations are gone, I don’t have access to premium features and it is still asking for access to my photos. I went to settings, went to splice but there was no button for ‘allowing access to photos’. This happened to all of my apps. I’m really devastated that this happened to Ibis Paint X because 2 years worth of drawings are gone so I can’t see my progress. I completely understand if this is an issue that you have no control over and if it is just my iPad or setting malfunctioning, but if there’s anything you can do/ anything I could do to solve this, PLEASE let me know! Thank you. (But when this is fixed I will continue using your amazing app!)

Thanks for update
The recent update displays the text font size. This is great! Thanks for taking the feedbacks. Could you please make further enhancement as well? (1) add a subtitle feature. Instead of click “text” to add text, add another “subtitle” button for user to add subtitles. There should also be a setting for user to sync the setting (such as horizontal/vertical position, font, font size, text alignments, etc) of all subtitles or select-subtitles in the video, without having to adjust each subtitle individually. I see that you uses “T” for text in the timeline, you can use “S” or “C” for subtitle. The difference is for subtitles, user can sync the setting or adjust them in groups. This will really save a lot of time. You can consider using separate timeline for subtitle as well. With separate timeline, user can set default setting for subtitle timeline. New subtitle automatically have correct font setting, and placed in correct horizontal/vertical position without any adjustment. Should have auto sync option so when user adjust font size of one subtitle, it adjusts all. When user moves one subtitle up or down, it moves all, etc.

App has become unusable
I loved the app for its straightforward and intuitive video editing interface—enough that, for years, I overlooked issues like slow uploads and frequent errors forcing restarting the app. However, now it has become entirely unusable. I have spent hours over the last several days attempting to upload media to a new project, and the app continually gets stuck on a loading screen, never actually allowing me to select media to upload. This step was always slow and frequently required restarting the app before it worked, but now I let it sit for half an hour at a time and it still never loads. The two or three times my camera roll did actually load and I thought it might be working, I ran into an error once I selected media and could never successfully load it into a new project (and upon restarting the app, I was back to a never-ending loading screen). I attempted to contact support and received an automatically generated reply about app crashes that was not relevant to the issue I was having. I followed the instructions to supply a video of the issue I was having, and got no reply (which was no surprise, as past outreach to support has gone unanswered). At this point, after hours of wasted time, I have to conclude that this app is no longer just glitchy with poor support, but entirely unusable and a waste of time and money.

Good video editing app but can scam you on price
So i was this app in an ad and happen to looking for a video edit app for my new iphone 12 pro. One similar to the default video edit on the galaxy note 10 which i came from. The i phone has no real default editing app. So I decided to give this one a try was kind of skeptical at first because of the seven day trial and the price saying it was $70 a year. Even ran into a glitch at first where it kept crashing inches which is why the four stars. But after resetting the app it’s been fine. The app itself is very similar to most editing apps on PC or mobile and it is very similar to the one on galaxy but has a lot more features. It’s really easy to use actually I tend to use it more than I use my Mac For editing now. Found out though that the company is kind of ripping people off because if you go to the subscriptions in the App Store you can lower the price from $60 to 10 for a year which is kind of a scam and they charge different people a different price and that you have the option to choose in the settings. Right either way it is a very good app and the person must’ve put a lot of effort into it so it is worth some money.

It’s great, but I do miss the old version
As one of your previous users of the app, I quite liked the older version. It was simple and easy to use, especially for someone that doesn’t really like to put too much time and effort into figuring out how to simply adjust the crop of the video and all. In the old one, everything was easy to figure out, but all of these new features and this new format is a bit overwhelming. I mean, I swear I’m not as lazy as I sound, but the simplicity of the last version and its ability to still make high quality videos were probably the greatest things I loved about the app. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the new features and effects, but I also wish it was easier to maneuver around the app and whatnot. Maybe it’s just because I’m used to the old version, but maybe it isn’t ??? Also, I wish you guys would add a feature where you could detach audio from one video and put it under another. I can’t seem to figure out how to do that with this app, but I was able to do it with iMovie when iMovie was free a long time ago, so it would be cool if you add that feature. I soooo love your app though and will continue to use it because it’s still by far the best app I can find for video editing that’s free.

Thank you, Splice!
I’ve had Splice for three years, and I can say with certainty that this is an amazing movie/video making app. It is so easy to choose the pictures and videos you want and arrange them. There are a good number of transitions as well, and if you choose to use Ken Burns on your pictures, you can select the start and finish positions. I also enjoy the ability to trim videos in the app instead of having to trim them in Photos. You can also apply filters to videos and pictures in the app, as well as add text. The sleek design and user-friendliness only add to the appeal. But of course, easily one of the best things about Splice is the audio options. To start, there is a HUGE selection of music and the option to fade in and out. You can play as many tracks at a time as you want and precisely edit how long you want the music to play. On top of this, you can also record audio for voiceovers and narration, which is great for making stop-motion movies. I have used Splice on multiple projects and it has yet to disappoint me. The best part is that it is FREE! I know that there is an extension, but even without it, this app is truly amazing. Thank you, Splice!

I just got this app a couple of hours ago and I rlly want to become a YouTuber and I was looking for apps to edit my videos but iMovie I need to pay for a lot of things and it was just too much. So I was looking for apps and found this......OMG it is the best and I just tried it right now, the music choice is great the transitions are great and the way u can put a filter on ur pictures and right whatever u wanna right and u have a choice of what font u want. I personally might use this a lot it’s a really easy quick way to edit a couple of pictures and turn it into a nice video and I made my first video like 6 min ago and it turned out so good. Everything is so easy to understand and use and that makes this app AMAZING. Anyone who likes to edit!!!, I suggest u get this app it is also free so u don’t have to pay to get this app and I love it already❤️keep it up guys! The only thing I would suggest is if u could put in music with the actually people singing and music that is in trend! But other than that this is a great app and I’m loving it a lot!!! Thank you guys for making this app simple, fun, cool, and quick, with many options (for free) and easy to make a really good video!!

3 stars because it used to be so great / 5 because it’s perfect now
Updating this review because all the former issues were fixed. Great app, love it! Former review: The old version of splice was perfect, this new one is expensive, glitchy and minimalist to a fault. Here’s the glitch I encountered: I tried creating a video on my husband’s phone and it never would export, I kept getting a notice saying “uh oh! Something went wrong! Try again?” And after 3-4 tries I gave up. so I had to transfer all the videos to my phone and remake it and finally it exported. The lack of buttons and options is actually very confusing. It looks sharp but isn’t super functional. As to the expense, $104 a year is kind of pricy and there aren’t lower levels for those of us who use the app less often than once a week. It was a great app before the update and I would have been willing to pay a lower usage tier to continue to access it. It’s probably still a great app if you make videos professionally several times a day, but if you’re just an average person making like 1-3 videos a month or less, this app is no longer for you (or me).

Love this app but…
I use this app all the time and have for several years. I’ve made whole 30 minute sections for documentary movies using my iPhone. It’s complicated and takes multiple steps, but when I’m remote, it’s incredibly useful. I’ll continue using it because it’s easy to use for short pieces but there is so much potential with this I feel like it could be so much more. The biggest feature I wish it had was a 9mm filter to make it look like a more sophisticated film technique. Additional ambiance and stylized elements would be a fantastic addition to the app. There are also some basic editing aspects still missing from the design, things which would take it to a whole new level. I’m so adept in the Splice editing environment, I have found work-around for things like positionable color borders, and micro-blurring pixels. My point is these are basic editing elements and should be a part of an any filmmaking app. If there was an expansion pack with additional advanced features, accessible for a monthly fee or an annual fee, I’d pay it and I’m sure there are other creators who would as well. Thanks for an extremely useful app! Keep those developments coming.

Sis has glowed up! Easy, free, and fun to use!
This new and improved update/ version of splice is so much better! It’s way different from the last version but in a good way. I’m still trying to get used to it but so far is a BIG, FAT, thumbs 👍🏼 up 👆🏼. And I really like the layout out of it. The only thing is that the way you add text is kinda messed up. Whenever I try to add text or a title it allways adds a extra little clip to the front and I can’t find a way to remove it. But overall, this app is really good. I really recommend this app and personally I think it the best mobile editing app out there. Believe me, I’ve basically tried all the editing apps there is and all of them haven’t really “clicked” for me I guess. this one is really easy to use and always has been. Unlike the other editing apps, this app doesn’t need you to put any information of yours like your email and snap chat or stuff like that. Some of the apps I have tried before in the past have only let you use it unless you had like a snap chat or something and that’s really annoying!!! Like I have to get an app to use another app???? But anyways, I really like this app.

I’m confused why I have to pay to export a video-
Don’t get me wrong! This app has been super useful, and has be easy to use, but when I wanted to take my work out of the app and move it over I have to pay to do that. I understand it for all the other special features, but why to export it? I would screen record it but then the watermark is smack dab in the middle of the video 3 times all over the screen! I get the reson for the watermark but now I’m stuck with something I’m proud of and can’t move it anywhere! Not even to my photo library! All those hours of hard work, with all respect in my heart I don’t want to pay to export it. I’ll give the app credit for when I use it in my credits of a series I’m doing. And I know there’s a 7 free day trial… but how in the world am I able to work In 7 days just to be told I have to pay. Maybe I’m being over dermatic and I apologize. But seriously besides that the app is wonderful- easy to understand and use which I deeply appreciate- I was originally using iMovie because it was free and “easy” to use but it deleted all my work! So I went over to this app! It’s great to practice and use for long term projects! Definitely recommend.

Paid for the full version, still a mess
It’s barely worth continuing to use this app since I started my project here and all the data and edits are loaded into it. It randomly skips back to the beginning of a video with no warning, resulting in minutes of wasted scrubbing to get back to wherever I was editing. The drag and drop items take multiple tries to select and it’s almost impossible to distinguish between the part of the clip that results in a drag and the part that trims. Tonight I spent an hour moving captions back to their intended clips after they all ended up at a much later part of the video despite my never having put them there. There’s also no way to couple a sound effect to a clip, meaning you can’t add any sounds until all the video edits are done to avoid them happening at the wrong times as a result of moving, trimming or deleting clips. I never know whether my masks will result in complete obfuscation of the intended portion or a gradual translucent fade. Also you can’t make chapters. If you’re doing a video that’s several minutes long you have to scrub all the way to the part you’re editing from the very beginning every time you open the app. Once my project is complete I’ll rejoice in never having to use this paid app again.

Best Editor on the App Store
I love Splice. I’ve been using it for about a year, and I’m loving all the improvements they’ve been making. I remember the old version where I could see the sound waves for any audio I picked out (back when you could only use music available on the app or bought in iTunes... a worthy trade off imo). I don’t know when the update that requires payment for colored text backgrounds came out, but I do know I never had to pay for it previously. I didn’t have to until I upgraded my phone and had to download Splice again. For some reason, I think the devs graciously allowed me to use the paid upgrade for free because I’ve been using it for a long time... and I am very glad they did :) Thank You so much! Unfortunately, I haven’t connected any money to my account yet, so I don’t think I’ll be able to purchase the upgrade for a while. Hopefully it’ll be soon, but until then, thank you devs for continuing to make this app better and better. It never crashes like it used to, and I can do all kinds of neat stuff for free (more than any other app I’ve seen), and even more once I buy the upgrade!

I loved using this app. I was spending a few hours on editing a video, and I loved the selection of tools. It was very easy to use. I definitely recommend it to beginners who want to edit. Although a subscription is needed for a few features. When I went to export the video, turns out you have to pay for a subscription to be able to export it. Now, I get that’s how they make money. But it was very frustrating, that other apps will allow you to with a watermark and a couple of adds. When I went to screen record the video, they put watermarks. Which I would be totally fine with. IF IT WASNT THREE OF THEM. BLOCKING 1/3 OF THE SCREEN. It’s also very inconvenient that they make any text in that area almost impossible to see. Now again, I completely understand the trying to promote and make money. I would suggest, like I said earlier, to allow non subscribers to export videos With an add and watermark. And I would say the best watermark is one, that is NOT obstructing the entirety of the video. Maybe one big one in the middle. That is a bit more transparent then the ones you guys have now. Thank you so much for reading this. And for making a dope app.

A few problems
Hey, so basically the app and really amazing easy to work with and I really really love it I got the app a day ago so obviously it is the next day right, and I go to edit and finish my video I made but it says “Project Not Readable” which made me confused and thought oh it probably just because I have so many apps open right so I close ALL of my apps and go back into splice... it didn’t work so I clicked the three dots in/on my video mind you I worked really hard on it so if it was deleted I’d be VERY VERY MAD 😡 so I clicked the three dots right thinking it would give me an option of something that could help but no it had “rename duplicate or delete” but rename and duplicate were gray as in the able to be processed the only one that was working was delete obviously I was not clicking that, Duh 🙄😑 so to this point I’m aggravated to the point I wanna smash my phone...so if you can fix that unless it’s just me because I have a really old phone so it would make sense you know but I do wanna make sure it’s not a bug or anything and if you can work or check in on that, it would be very appreciated so Thank you all for your time and have a great rest or your day evening or night😊 your all beautiful bye!!♥️🌸✨🥰

I’m only giving this 5 stars so it can get some attention
This app S U C K S. The customer service S U C K S. I’ve spent over a month on editing a video that I cut down from an hour to 20 minutes and it will not upload. No matter what I do, no matter what I’ve tried, no matter how much more I keep editing out, no matter what I delete in my photo gallery, no matter what advice they give on the website. Nothing works. I’ve sent an email almost 2 days ago now and no answer. I’ve tried to go on the website to access my account. I cant. I tried having a password reset sent to my email, wasn’t sent- no matter how many times I kept trying to get it to send. I can’t access my account, I can’t upload my video I spent SO long on, the app just keeps crashing no matter how many times I’ve closed the app and updated it. Nothing is working and now I fear I’m going to have to give up, get another editing app and start from scratch. Save yourself the pain and heartache of getting such an unreliable app. DO NOT GET THIS APP. ITS A WASTE OF MONEY AND IT’LL WASTE YOUT TIME WITH HOW GLITCHY AND UNUSABLE IT IS.

Doesn’t Export!!
This is the worst app in existence. My video that’s been two years in the making and almost 40 mins long keeps getting export errors. At first upon googling the error, a possible fix is to remove all the audio and reupload. Then I read that videos in the app that are in the cloud will also cause export errors and that I’d have to redownload them all. Redownload 40 mins and 4 years worth of video clips?! When you open the app, it takes several minutes for the app to download the clips from the cloud so why on earth can’t it export after it finishes loading? I also experienced the video freezing in the middle of the video while the audio remained playing. This was particularly frustrating when I was left to screen record the video after numerous export attempts. Once I finally got the video to play straight through for a decent screen record, I reploaded that to the app in hopes I can now crop the video to screen size and export with brand new videos not on the cloud. WRONG! Now I’m getting the error that there isn’t enough storage in my phone when I have well over 30GB available. I normally wouldn’t even bother with a review like this for a phone app, but this video is extremely special and important to me and now it’s just living in this app forever with nowhere to go.

Quite Useful
I was scrolling through the App Store looking for a video editor that allowed me to piece together pictures into my own video. When I stumbled across this, I was a bit scared to try it out. Never the less, I downloaded it and gave it a shot. This app had everything I was looking for. I could piece together pictures as I created subtitles and tweaked how long it would be. Not only can photos be put together, but videos as well. You can also add sound effects, background music, and almost whatever noise you need to add that little something to your video. I did come across an issue with the subtitles where they don’t change the length at the same time as the photo or video, so you will have to do that yourself, but that isn’t a huge issue. I do wish the transitions between videos and/or photos were quicker, but overall this is a great app to use. It’s compatible with other editing apps, so if you want different transitions, subtitles or sounds, just download what you have so far to your device and input it into a different app. All in all, if your looking for an app that’ll allow you to do all of the above, I would suggest none other than Splice.

Definitely recommend
I would highly recommend using splice for making videos and clips. I downloaded it and had to tell my friends about it because it worked so well. There was one thing though, several times I would go into the app to make something and after working hard to epics clips together I exited out of the app for only a few minutes and when I came reopened the app and went into my project it said several clips are missing and that clip would be black with an error sign on it. I could easily replace it and it didn’t bother me until once I worked long and took many pictures that I made a splice project with, and right after finishing I deleted the pictures I fully created on another app entirely off my phone then went into the app and it had the several missing clips alert, and all of them were gone. I was too frustrated to recreate all of them. This happened twice each time on a different device. Though this was frustrating I have made various splice project and out of all of them only two were ruined, so I would still recommend splice for your editing app.

Back to its former glory
This is a follow up on my last review: This app is now the best video editing app in the App Store with a well deserved 5 stars. Here’s why: I am so happy that the new version brought back the tools that had been removed and even added more features including: Transitions such as Fade to black, Blur, Crossfade, Zoom In, zoom out, etc. Default settings controls are back: Picture duration, transition duration, aspect ratio, background color and music can now be set all at once (as opposed to doing one by one). You can adjust the sound in the videos for instance: you could lower or mute the volume in a video if you don’t want it to interfere with the background music. Perhaps my favorite new tool that has been added is that you are now able to extract the audio of a video and move it around, this is very helpful when you want to add picture overlays over video without messing up the sound sequence. I love the simplicity of the apps interface and the layout of editing tools is very easy to use. I’d like to thank the developers for providing such a great useful app for free for creators like me.

Hands Down The Best Video Editing App for IPhone
I have the subscription version and originally intended to use it for a couple of weeks and go back to lugging my laptop for edits but ended up sticking with it. There are no gimmick features with this app. All the features work to the extent you expect from a professional desktop app yet it’s still intuitive and fast to use. I love that you can control the output quality, and now that they have added layers and masking, the possibilities have multiplied. I also see they announced the upcoming release of a key frames feature which will, again, multiply the possibilities. The pre-set transitions are also notably better than I have found in most apps. The only thing that frustrates me at the moment is that the effects you layer over your video (essentially dynamic filters) and masks, don’t benefit from allowing you to fade those effects in or out so you really have to hide the start and finish in a transition. However, It sounds like the key frames feature might help solve that if it can be applied to the top layer. Don’t know how I lived without this app!

Great for any level
I have zero knowledge behind video editing, other than trying to find a user friendly app. I’ve used this app on and off for a long time and recently “came back” after I noticed a lot of updates that made it even more user friendly. It is great for super simple editing as well as getting down and fancy with it. One gripe: One thing that does make me still look around for other options is that - part of why I use this app is to transcribe(text) paranormal EVP’s onto the video for the audience. Having to pull the text all the way from the beginning and from the ending - all the way to where I need that text for that couple of seconds takes longer than reviewing the EVP’s themselves. This is a tedious process that really seems like there would be an easier way to put the text where I need it, and be able to move along. It really is a slllooowwwwwwwwww process and this is the part I actually hate (yes, hate; I’m sorry...) about doing it. Other than that I really do love using this app. I just work through that annoying process, because I love the app.

Amazing but with frustrating glitches
I’ve been using this app for almost a year now and I absolutely love everything I’m able to do with it! I’ve searched through several other video making apps and this one is easily my personal favorite. Unfortunately, after I updated it last night, numerous bugs have appeared and have made it almost impossible to do anything. It’s a 50/50 chance whether or not I’ll get to hear the audio clips, scrolling through and adjusting the length of clips and pictures is extremely jerky, my device overheats to near burning within minutes and shuts down the app, and all the audio clips from my previous videos have been deleted after the update. I don’t know if it’s on my end or a major bug in the new coding, but it’s extremely frustrating to work with and I have to give up on the videos I was working on as I can’t actually get anything done. I don’t want to delete the app because it’s always been so amazing to work with but I really hope whatever went wrong gets fixed soon or I won’t be able to do anything with it anymore.

Really great for quickly cutting videos
Yeah I love this app. I do my heavy video editing/production on FCPX on the Mac. But when I just need/want to cut a video fast that doesn’t require a ton of production, Splice has become my go-to. It’s very easy to use, very intuitive, and the features are dang near perfect. I needed something better for the quick cuts than iMovie for iPhone as it doesn’t do the things that Splice does. Splice operates quickly and exports quickly, which is important. I like the audio features - particularly what you can do with the audio track of video with volume, fades, etc… and I like how easy it is to add audio and music from Apple Music (if you purchase a track from iTunes). The preset project sizes are great. This app really excels and positions itself well for social media video creation. I haven’t used all the features, so I can’t really give feedback on what I’d change. So far, it does everything I need it to. Most importantly, I allows me to create quickly and doesn’t bottleneck creativity trying to learn the app. VERY GOOD!! Thanks, Splice!

Wow! New Design way More Efficient
The time it took me to create a video is now cut in half. I made a 3 minute video a few days ago using the older version and it took me 8 hours. Tonight I made another 3 minute video and it took me about 4 hours. I use a combination of videos and images. The efficiency of an app is always half my battle. The only issue I had using the new version, which was also an issue with the old version is freezing. In the 4 hours that I was on the app, it froze 3 times. Just a minor annoyance. I usually just close the app and reopen it. It’s pretty good at preserving my work. I’ve never lost edits or a project even when it freezes and I have to close out the app. I also like that I can do a lot of my editing and preview edits in the same window. Adding music and SPX and editing these layers is so much easier now with the slide bar feature. I will update this review later after I’ve used the new version a few more times. For now, this is my primary app because It preserves the full size of my images. Other apps I use are to restrictive with image sizes.

Yo I hope you guys read this
Ok so I’ve been trying to find an app to make some funny memes for AGES all of them either require some ridiculously over expensive trial to use or give you the most bare-bones useless amount of features-pretty much forcing you to upgrade if you actually want to do anything. When I stumbled onto splice I was shocked-what? I can put MORE THAN ONE LAYER TOGETHER WITHOUT UPGRADING? I CAN PUT MUSIC IN WITHOUT PAYING?! I CAN IMPORT FILES AND TEXT IS ACTUALLY EASY TO USE AND MOVE! NO! I CAN PUT IN BACKGROUNDS AND CHANGE FONTS! You guys are great. I see there’s a trial for video editing, which is paid for more features-but I’m fine with that-thank you guys for bringing an amazing editing app to the store without locking 99% behind a paywall-keep on doing you-loving the app EDIT: one thing I have noticed when using the app is that even for pictures that have had their background removed-it still shows when putting the picture into a video, which is annoying- there should be an easy way to remove the background for images you are adding on top of another layer

Dissatisfied and disappointed
I have been using splice for many years as my main video editing software. I have loved it for so long because it was so easy to use and it was so convenient being on my phone. After the new update, they changed a lot of things that made editing more complicated. But that wasn’t the worst part. After another update, they added a pro version in which you would have to buy in order to use some of the features and worst of all, to even export your projects. You now have to pay weekly to export your projects. I am very disappointed that I won’t be using splice any longer and that I have to find a new video editing software. I am dissatisfied that they went down this path after all those years of being the best and pulling such a wide fan base. Hopefully they undo this so they can go back to being the best editing software and we all can go back to making the projects we love. Edit: you can export now with minimal settings but you can’t even use simple things that are necessary for video editing like transitions without paying for the pro that’s subscription based and not a 1 time purchase. By now I think it’s safe to say after all these years that if you want to edit on your phone, just use CapCut. 👋

Not worth the money
The app functions great out of all the ones of used, easy to learn and if you are struggling the tutorials are great. The free version of the app is all you need to make a video and learn how to create something unique. Even then the app usually crashes on me when trying to load the video created so as great as the app is w/ it’s easy learning curve and functionality the way they want to force you into paying for it is just overkill. If we like the product we most likely will purchase it or return to use it again and again. It bothers me that it was you as a subscriber so they get month from you monthly instead of a one time purchase. Even w/ the negatives I’ve listed I’ll rate it a 5 purely off the fact the the user interface is pretty much perfect on a mobile device. The only thing I would change is the cost and make it a one time Payment. The app should get support and I’m glad there is a free version but even w/ Roth the free version you can never send or finish a video without purchase

Great app
It’s a great app I’ve been looking for something I can make edits for Instagram on that’s free and this is the one it’s amazing I recommend this to anyone who needs something for pictures to video editing cuz it’s great you can use your own music and your own pics and it’s free what else could you want the transition selection is a little small but I don’t mind for how good it turned out I’m gonna recommend this to my sister who also makes edit but ever since I got an iPhone I can’t transfer vids from my laptop so all my edits can’t be posted but this allows me to make save and post easily, edit: I've been using is for over a year now and i must say its my holy grail for editing apps this is the only one i use, i would like if there was more transportations and if u could make the pics or video less the a second long becuz i am still an editer amd some music beats are less then a second long so that would be cool it would be so cool if it had effects like a glitch and like effects kinda like the app crazy video maker 2 those are awesome but i sadly can't use that app

Incredibly disappointing :(
ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW. Updating my review now, as I have just seen the response from tech-support. I reached out requesting the refund and offered to provide proof that the account has an actually been used, as I have been billed about 10 minutes into a seven day free trial. Tech-support states that because I had already used the free trial once, (even though it was advertised to me to try again) that The free trial that I was offered is invalid and so the billing is valid. I downloaded Splice a while ago, and made one video, features were nice and it was super easy to navigate as someone who doesn’t video at it ever. I ended up uninstalling because I just didn’t get to use it much, but I recently have been trying to up my REELS content on Instagram, as that is best for the algorithm now.I went ahead and gave another go at all again-it popped up at seven day trial, and I picked the yearly sub as it seemed like the best deal. I’ve spent two or three days messing with it now and really liked the couple videos I made, except I just realized that they billed me the whole $70 or somthing even though I have several days left on my seven day free trial. SUPER SHADY. Canceling i’m trying to figure out how to get a refund now, bummed because I would really like to use this app.

Good base but much more potential
It would be amazing if you could highlight multiple clips/ sound clips at a time because as it stands if you want to move multiple clips and keep them in the same order, you face the tedious task of moving them one by one, and on top of that you have to try and synch everything with the music again. Right now the best way to do this is to save the whole project, and then create a new project so all of the clips are together already as one video. Another complaint is the sound effects library. It would be great if you were able to import sounds or if they partnered with and app or website with an array of sounds to use. Another thing that is hard to get around is doing text effects and making text/ pictures move during the video. Also it would be cool if they added more effects or added away you could import effects (anime speed lines and such). But overall this app is fun to use and it doesn’t take long to learn at all, if you get a little creative the aforementioned problems won’t cause you too much grief.

Good for doing anything u wanna do
I’ve been using this for everything from short memes to long YT videos. It also has a whole lot of features including (for free) no watermark, sound effects, cutting and deleting parts of text you don’t want, text to put into the video, voice overs, volume, speed, filters, different s saturation and sharpness stuff like that, cropping, flipping the video or image left right up or down, getting a background (not sure what this does), switching media from one video to a different one or duplicating anything that’s already there. (For premium) animation, effects, and music which can be from iTunes or imported. But if u don’t want to pay for the music if you have a second device just play music and hit the voiceover button to record the music. Also right now the app closes but saves most of what you did. But anyway that’s my review of this app I think it’s great and u should use it. If you’re looking for an example of the editing u can go to my channel on YT called “Harry Pokemon” I would appreciate it if u checked it out :).
