As a musician and voice actor who records in a home studio, I have found this app invaluable for ear training and help with troubleshooting. Especially, when you’re learning how to mix, if you have a troublesome frequency that you have difficulty finding. I’ve used this app to replicate the tone by ear then I use the data from this app to find that frequency on the EQ and adjust it. Unless your a seasoned pro with golden ears, this app will save you time and headaches. It’s also useful for testing audio gear and microphones. On occasion, I’ve also used it to make my dog stop barking. LOL! The dogs hate it around 2.5kHz. If this app was lost or stolen, I’d get it again immediately. LOL!
I like how simple and effective this tone generator app is. I already purchased White Noise from this company and use it regularly to create a tranquil atmosphere at home or in the office. I’d love to have some additional features in this tone generator app. 1. Pulse - the user can have the tone pulse on and off automatically. Allow the user to select the length of “on” time and “off” time. 2. Audio Channel - the user can select which audio channel(s) the tone is sent through. Allow the user to select an option to alternate sending the tone to the left and right audio channels. Allow the user to set the switching speed to control how often the tone switches between the left and right audio channels. The audio channel options could be: - Stereo - Left Channel - Right Channel - Alternate Channels (with speed selection of “Alternate ____ times per minute”) Thanks for great apps!
I love that it’s simple, but it’s a little bit too simple. Its almost impossible to choose a specific frequency on the high end. There’s a plus and minus button that moves up or down one single hz, which is practical at 60 hz, but silly at 16,237. You can also drag the slider but its nearly impossible to set it to 16,000 or 18,000 or 15,500, or anything specific. You have to settle for 18,342 and be grateful that you got that close, or maybe if you really want push the minus button 342 times to get to your goal frequency. Also it doesn’t make sounds while you’re sliding the slider. Perhaps being able to zoom in on the frequency spectrum to get to specific spots, or as Apple does, a low speed scrub as you move your finger further from the slider. Idk, but it needs something. Almost a great app, but falls short of being useful.
The app does exactly what you want it to do it perfectly It dabbles into “theoretical” science behind frequencies but there is more science to theorize through a harmonization function or a echo chamber function with headphones and most crucial to me is a two frequency function to have headphones and have one side one frequency and the other another one I hope I can indulge in these functions so I can get some longevity out of the experimental aspect of this app
I’ve only been using this app for about a week or two. However I think I’m getting some benefits. I have a brain injury caused by a medicine that was not nearly as safe as I hoped it might be. When I use the 40hz tone...turned up pretty loud and with a lot of bass... I seem to be able to do things better. I’m very happy to see ANY improvements at all. I’ll keep using it. Maybe I’ll get even better! Thanks very much for this app!
I would give it 0 stars if I could. I downloaded this app a while ago. I intended to use to as a tuning app for my cello. I played a few frequencies and apparently they didn't turn off. I recently reopened the app, only to hear 2 notes playing at once, but it said it was paused. I could unpause it at a different frequency, and it showed a play button. I muted it, and tried swiping up to pause it through the iPhone menu, but that did not work either. It showed "not playing." I deleted it immediately. I still hear it in the way that you can see stuff when you close your eyes.
After quite some time of using this application without a means of typing in an exact desired frequency, the developer has enhanced the app by adding such functionality. This makes the application one of the cleanest and easiest ones to use in its class. I'd highly recommend Tone Gen if all you need is a simple frequency generator.
I like 38 hz find the one that is good for you. It worked for me. Read about Tesla.
I like 38 hz it works for me find the one that works for you. Read about Tesla. I started about 3 weeks ago and I have been reading about light frequency and power. This application is great I donated for further research. You don’t have to donate anything only if you wish.
Fun app. Got it in spring 2017 when I was an incredibly awkward high schooler. Played with it a couple times, and then… It’s fun that you can test how low and how high your ears can hear. And then of course actually using it for what you’re supposed to. But for board ninth graders with ear buds, maybe have a countdown from 20 Hz to 1 Hz. no humans can’t generally hear below 20 Hz. Or above 20 kHz. And this app goes to 22 kHz. So…
This is a great app to test speakers and equipment! And no in app purchases or subscriptions like other apps. I just think maybe in a future update you should make there still be sound while moving the frequency bar but other than great!
I downloaded a couple of these wave/frequency noise apps, but by the time I went to use them I had forgotten why I wanted them and am probably not using them for what they are for, because I don’t know what that is. BUT they sure are fun and sometimes LOUD
Great app. I sleep with a 40 Hz tone playing for 6 hours. Minor issue: duration isn’t saved in presets. It would be convenient to have the duration, frequency, and volume all controlled by sliders on the main screen and all saved in the presets.
I like this app. It’s quick and easy. I do have some suggestions... The slider makes it a little difficult to hone in on a freq. In addition to the plus/minus buttons for incremental adjustment, maybe a 20 Hz jump button to get you close faster? Also, an octave jump button would be cool.
The sound output drops out while dragging the frequency slider, instead of producing a continuous tone. The frequency slider is also a bit unstable, swishing the frequency up/down by occasionally significant amounts when my finger lifts off the control, which requires using the fine-tuner to restore the desired setting. If you want to dial in a frequency to match another source, this tool will not be precise enough for you.
Need a straight sine wave generator for testing guitar amplifiers. Downloaded the app and in 5 minutes had it hooked up to my oscilloscope. Great signal selectable In 1 hz increments from 20 hz to 20 khz. I’m an old guy and couldn’t believe how much my hearing had degraded. Great app for what I needed. Simple to use. Keep up the great work.
I really wish this came with a timer! If I could set timers so I can meditate or fall asleep to these tons and then have them automatically shut off, that would be perfect. PLEASE ADD THIS!!!
1) I wish I could pay money to get rid of these stupid ads. 2) I wish you had more options for changing the frequency: just type it in, or add 10 or 25 at a time, not just one. The slider is way too coarse.
Only way to get to a certain frequency is using a slider or a plus and minus button you can’t hold down. Can take a little too long to get the frequency you are looking for using just the slider and individually pressing plus and minus each time, many apps like this in the store, recommend any other one
It does what it’s supposed to and the screen can be off what more can you ask for :) I’d pay for an EQ on an app like this you could really make some complex tones and explore the frequencies better
It would be nice if you could drag the side for a continuous frequency, but it stops and clicks every time you change it, making a frequency sweep impossible. But what do you want for free?
The app is fine and works as advertised. However, there should be a way to jump by increments larger than 1 (I.e. a 10x and 100x button) since trying to dial in a specific frequency via the slider is nearly impossible.
It’s a greater overall I mean doing research and great frequencies on it. You could set the frequency between 20 and 20,000 Hz. I love it it’s one of the big times.
This app will not perform automatic sweeps. It won’t even let you do manual sweeps. When you switch from one frequency to another it takes several seconds for the app to respond. It’s not terrible, it’s just not what I was looking for.
I downloaded this app to generate tones to help me locate sources of vibration in my car. Lots of vibration when the subwoofer is active between 20-70 Hz. Works well! Simple, clean interface.
VERY difficult to dial-in a frequency - only jump-jump FFW/FRW style scrubbing - no slow-scrub available and no number input. Too difficult to get an exact frequency. And the +/- would be nice if could scrub to a +/-10, 100 etc. would even be nice if scrubber bar had stop points at every 1000.
Does exactly what it says. I use it for checking the frequency of the ringing in my ears due to tinnitus. Put in a set of headphones, adjust volume and center frequency until they match.
Still loving this app. Complaints are mostly user inconvenience but I had no troubles. Very easy and loud /vibrates enough to use as treatment for pains and ailments. Tesla would be proud 🙏🏼
Annoying to set desired frequency as slider is imprecise and +/- buttons neither repeat nor accelerate. App shows ads, first for company’s own White Noise app (unobjectionable), then animated random ads by Google (inexcusable). Deleted after one use.
The same only thing I don’t like is the way Frequency is selected. This is difficult and time consuming. There should be a fine tuning option, or even better, a manual entry.
This would be so much improved by a more sensitive slider or ability to type in a frequency. Too sloppy to give the precision required to cancel noise from tinnitus.
It was fine when I downloaded it, but now there’s no sound and when I try and up the volume on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, it just goes to alarm, setting up volume doesn’t even show up? so basically it’s worthless without sound.
The app worked great until they did an update that took away the visual for volume display. Now you are unable to know what volume percent you are at when increasing it.
Generate pure sine wave tones at frequencies from 20hz to 22,000hz. Tone generation is useful in tuning instruments, hearing tests, science experiments, and testing audio equipment. Tone Generator has many uses: - Hearing Test: What is the lowest/highest frequency you can hear in each ear? - Tuning Instruments: Does your top guitar string match Low E at 440 Hz? - Science Experiments: What is the resonant frequency of your wine glass? - Audio System Test: What frequencies does your subwoofer support? Directions: Adjust audio frequency by dragging the slider or tapping the plus/minus buttons. Adjust device volume using the on-screen volume slider. You can also specify to play audio to any AirPlay supported device. Toggle audio playback using the Play/Pause button.
