Service good, app improvement over previous versions - but still needs work
The actual mailbox service is good. Quick scans, reasonable fees (compared to competitors), quick customer service. Also like the added touch of mailing out letters (it means little things like being able to print out a federal form, fill it out/sign electronically, and submit through the mail like so many federal applications require). App is a little more polished then previous versions and crashes less. However, still I find the website to be a much better experience on an iPhone. In the app you can’t add tags, or create folders. Also now way to submit letters for print and mail in the app.
The app needs work that’s for sure. It’s not great. But I’ve been a happy customer of Traveling Mailbox for two years and it’s fantastic! Contrary to the negative review, the customer service is very good. They’re available instantly by chat. Also, the negative review mentions hidden fees. How can a few be hidden if it’s published in their fee schedule? That’s not a hidden fee, that’s a fee for a service. And after I compared their fees to about a dozen equivalent service providers I realized that each of these services has optimized their fee schedule for a specific customer in mind. Anyway, Traveling Mailbox is awesome. The app can use a lot more love but the underlying service is great.
As a traveler and business owner, I highly recommend Traveling Mailbox for their exceptional virtual mailbox services. With their user-friendly app, I can easily manage my postal mail online no matter where I am in the world. Their mail scanning service is incredibly helpful as I can receive important documents and letters right on my phone or computer. The scans are always clear and easy to read. And if I need a physical copy, their mail forwarding service is quick and reliable. The security measures they have in place to protect my sensitive information are top-notch, which gives me peace of mind when it comes to handling important documents. The customer support team is also fantastic. They are always prompt and helpful with any questions or concerns I have. Overall, Traveling Mailbox has been an absolute lifesaver for me and my business. I would give them a 5-star rating and highly recommend their services to anyone in need of a virtual mailbox solution.
Not only is the App generally buggy but the notifications just don’t work…even after an uninstall and reinstall; truly disappointing. It’s also worth noting that the App is missing a key function available on the website—the option to deposit a check. The overall service is a great value compared to its competitors but the App needs significant improvements for true digital nomads. As a retiree, I can go for days or weeks without checking my mail; but if I were running a business or waiting for important documents from an employer, I’d have to reconsider…
I appreciate the new update, but why did you take away my address in the app? I like being able to double check the address to know it’s correct and now it’s not visible in the app anymore.
I’ve used Traveling Mailbox for more than 5 years and I am very happy with it. I love that I can have them deposit checks I receive directly into my bank. I currently live outside the US and if I receive , for example, a new credit card, they will FEDEX it to me for a very reasonable fee. I think their customer service is excellent. When they do updates or maintenance to their computer system they alert me and do so, periodically, throughout the day. I highly recommend.
Service - I cant say enough about how easy this service has made the hassle of dealing with bills and documents if you are living outside the US. They are quick at responding to scan and forward requests and the rates they charge are very reasonable compared to other services or even just maintaining a PO Box. App - It is not fancy but it is easy to navigate and select what action you want them to perform. I have been using the service for 2 years now and have not had any issues with the app.
This review is to balance the off base one star reviews on here. Traveling Mailbix is an outstanding company with A+ support. Been using their service for 4+ years and will use them as long as they are in business. :) Over had zero issues with mail forwarding to family. Done it dozens of times and only takes a few days. The app started off very poor and happy to see they have improved it to a solid B. Just getting the notifications alone for new mail makes the app worth it as I'm nearly 100% guaranteed to see that vs an email. Agree with other reviews would be nice to see native iOS app instead of this one that is just mobile site in a framework but as a marketer and someone who has worked in product development I get the business decision.
Maybe the App wasn’t good in the past. I’m a customer only since half a year now with them. The app is clear, easy to handle, gives you all the options for action with your mail, works well, the actions I request were always completed quickly. What else would I wish. Great App five stars.
You want to have this type of service for it’s convenience but if it takes 35 hours for them to open your letter and scan it, it’s not just worthless but it’s a headache to switch to a better company! They are also advertising that the support is available 6am to 12am EST Mon thru Fri on the FAQ page. I called them at 11:30pm EST and automated answer said they are not in operational hours. Called them the following day, they said “we are sorry! We are in tax season and busy! Also our operational hours on the website is wrong!” Dear developer: You already lost a potential long term client because if a business doesn’t know when they get busy so they can have more staff, is not a quality service. You create more headache rather than offering a good service. Users who want to get this service: This was an honest review. If you don’t care much about your mails, go with this company since they’re cheap.
The logo makes me feel happy and I get excited when I have a mail notification. The app is decent, I would like to see a redesigned menu when you select a mail item it’s quite bulky. Also, you can’t pan around in a scan photo (think pinch to zoom). Fix these two things and the app will be excellent !!!
Been a subscriber since 2013 and have always had excellent service & communication from TM. While this app is really just a simplified version of the web interface, the push notifications for new mail arrival are why you want this on your phone!
Scans appear quickly and all the different actions I’ve requested have been done promptly. Props! I like the recent change to a tab bar format, but I think you should go all the way and make them true tabs. It’s out of place on iOS for tab bar buttons to push a screen onto a navigation stack.
I have notifications for this app turned all the way on on my iPhone. Every possible option for notification is turned on. But zero notifications come through, no banners no sounds no badges no nothing, so hence no evidence of new mail coming in. The result being that sometimes I don’t see there is mail waiting in there before it expires. Unacceptable. Please fix this.
While I love this service, the app lets it down. It re-downloads opened mail every time I load the app (why not store a local copy in the phone?!). Also shifting between scanned images isn’t functional until it’s re-downloaded pictures, which you won’t know when since there’s no progress bar indication. Basically quite frustrating to use...
“Completer overhaul of app” the description read of version 4+ How about complete overhaul of your developer and test/QA teams? The app wasn’t top quality before and this just proves nothing has really changed. 4.0.1 release: Like many other users, notifications for this app stopped working months ago and it is no different with this latest version. Adjusting the notification settings has no impact. Only recourse is to rely on email notifications. 4.0 release: Cannot even log in because the “complete overhaul” has omitted the ability to enter 2FA details and after user name / password entry the error is ‘Need 2FA’. Yes we know!
I really love the service and I’ve been a happy customer for 3+ years. The app needs some work to make it feel like a modern app. Better than it used to be though, so I hope they are able to make some UX improvements.
This app does everything you need it to do. It is rock solid and simple to use. Great companion to a service that meets my needs. Their service is a time saver to me daily.
While it’s nice to be able to select stored forwarding addresses, the app needs an easy to use default address. Additionally, it is way too easy to send a shipment to the wrong stored address, especially after creating a new address.
I was so excited that Traveling Mailbox now had an iPhone app, but it is pretty disappointing what they came up with. While it is better than using their website in a mobile browser, it still feels like they just wrapped their website in an app with minor improvements for mobile use. They really need to rewrite it from the ground up and think about it from a mobile perspective and use mobile controls like swiping, pinching, and modern authentication integration. Traveling Mailbox, hire a real mobile developer, not someone who is just a web dev from 1995 who wants to try making an iOS app.
If you like waiting a week for an overnight shipment or days or weeks to resolve a ticket I know just the service for you. Good luck ever getting two factor removed from your account if you need to. Watch them shred all your mail piece by piece while you wait for them to do that.
Outstanding service and outstanding app until I got an iPhone 15 Pro. Now the app crashes as soon as it’s opened. Even after reinstalling, it just crashes. Hopefully they’re aware of this and will promptly issue a fix.
Travelling Mailbox is a great product, at least after my first 90 days of use. And although the app works, it does very little. Hopefully this first attempt will soon be upgraded. Come on Travelling Mailbox! Don't disappoint us!
Looks like a poorly hacked together job by people who don't know the first thing about native IOS programming. Just taking a look at this is making me wonder whether I can really trust the people behind Traveling Mailbox to have the technical knowledge necessary to protect all of the very private info they process from hackers and the like. Also, the rampant self-promotion gets a little old sometimes - I mean, it's so totally obvious that the one positive review put up before this one was written by one of the owners/employees, just from the tone alone. Not a very upstanding or trustworthy outfit here guys....
Traveling mailbox has employees like Mike and Travis Poole who have some seriously unethical business practices. Be very careful in handing over your mail to these guys. They will charge extra fees $25 reactivation fee and monthly charges even after you don't want their service and dont authorize the card . Extremely shady business. I am reporting them to BBB to open an investigation.
What the hell? No way to know what to do with the new interface. Not remotely intuitive. Come on, it was fine before. Now I'm afraid to do anything thinking it might delete my mail before I download it. Go back to the old version. Even if it worked, and I knew what to do with it, this new one is nothing to write home about.
With the old version of the app, I used to be able to view the scanned images of my mail. I can't figure out if that's even possible with the new app. That's THE #1 reason for paying for the service: viewing mail online! Please fix, or go back to the old version of the UI.
App could use an overhaul. Firstly, not having it auto save credentials or use Face ID or some sort of auto log in system at this point is antiquated. Having to repeatedly enter credentials is annoying. Scan time is LONG after request. I’m going on over a day. Request was made 12/30/19, and its 1/2/2020 and still not done. That being said, time stamp of request should dictate when scans are deducted from allotment, not when scans are completed. Received email that my FL address would have to change to a new one as they lost a contract with a UPS store (these are all UPS store addresses) so now have to notify everyone all over again about new address. Feel like for the trouble, we should’ve been given a discounted service of some sort. Changing addresses on 100+ accounts is not easy. New address also is so long that some of the companies are having difficulty addressing properly. What a pain! Lately, I’ve noticed that it’s taken over a day extra for mail to be added to my account. I’ve sent myself a letter just to verify, and sure enough, a day and a half after it arrived, I was finally notified of “new mail.” Very Disappointed in the service lately. Emailed them about the above issues and received a “We’re sorry” canned response.
The service is amazing and highly recommended. The 2FA is great. I’d suggest adding something that allows you to (optionally) save the device for 30 days or authenticate through Face ID or Touch ID. It’s a little bit cumbersome to have to enter the 2FA code every time you use the app.
