We used this app recently on our Florence trip to follow the Grand Depart of the 2024 Tour de France. It is an awesome app that makes finding trains very easy! (I used it in conjunction with the Eurail Rail Planner app because it is much more accurate) Just always double check the platform screens when you are about to leave, the app was late changing platforms for us on a couple of occasions, causing us to really have to hustle to the right one.
I would be lost without this app during my trip to Italy. It was reliable, easy to use and has all of the features in one place (tracking schedules, mapping, buying tickets, and getting real-time notifications of updates). Highly recommend if you’re planning a trip to Italy!
Using the app was easy and straight forward at first with just a few learning curve hiccups. However, trying to actually make a purchase was a horror. Picked our desired train and time. Went to pay and the app refused to take my email. I kept getting “invalid field”. I tried my alternate emails and received updates from Trenitalia that my email was changed but when I tried the new email to purchase my tickets— “invalid field”. Apps are meant to be useful and the help the user in having a good experience. This app does neither. So disappointed!
Hands down the best and easiest to use train app by a mile and it’s not even close. I just may appreciate this app more than any app I’ve ever used. Standing ovation to the creators and developers.
We used Trenìt! to plan our Italy trip both before and while we were in Italy. It worked perfectly! The Followed Trip feature is fantastic, I'd often update a trip as we were on the train so we'd know when our stop was coming. This feature also informs you of any delays (or early arrival) of your train. That's so useful when you're waiting at the station since the only way you know your train is by time and track. Speaking of track, the app knows which track your train will be on, a fantastic feature at any station. When planning, you enter your start, destination and time and the app accurately shows your choices with price, time and transfers. One time, the app showed a better and cheaper train than the Trentalia ticket machine at the station, so we went to the agent, showed him the listing in the app and were able to purchase the ticket through him We never used the purchase ticket feature (preferring paper tickets) so I can't comment on that. The ads shown were unobtrusive and easily ignored. Great app, a must for train travelers in Italy!
