Viking Voyager

There truly isn’t anything to add to my five star rating other than to say that I don’t ever give them. It seems as though there is always room for improvement … however, there’s always a first time. The Viking Cruise line gets my highest rating available because they deserve it. Full Stop! From the seemingly 1:1 ratio of staff to guests that allow them to meet every little desire - they go out of the way to make sure that each and every day of your cruise is better than the day before! Staff are smiling and attentive, happy and extremely willing to go any extra mile you’d like (and it is amazing what they can do!) And the food? Specialty restaurants highlighting local fresh ingredients and even opportunities to go shopping with a chef and then a chance to return to the kitchen on the ship and cook alongside -preparing what was just locally purchased. The opportunities for the daily experiences are wonderful and there’s almost always something to find to do at the right fitness level and just full of new and interesting experiences! Brand new ships, younger and talented ( musically) many of the staff also play music in various areas on the ship. Attention has been paid for to every little detail - want something more or different? Just ask:) Do yourself a favor and book a Viking Cruise - you will treasure it’s memories forever

We had an outstanding experience in our first Viking ocean cruise. The ship was magnificent, the stateroom was spacious, great shower, larger balcony, incredible service from crew, interesting lecturers, wonderfully relaxing events, enjoyable musical entertainment, and food was a whole next level. We were very impressed and we are experienced cruisers who have been on many different cruise lines. This was a luxury cruise at a very reasonable price with all the extras included: very enjoyable excursions, afternoon teas with amazing finger sandwiches and delights, etc. They gave us a very memorable week that we truly treasured. We can easily brag on Viking for the cruising experience they provided. Thank you so much.

I love the idea of the app and it worked, but I think they need to make a lot more changes. It seemed super easy to navigate, but I wasn’t able to do a whole lot with it and I’m pretty tech savvy. I tried booking reservations at a specialty restaurant and it only allowed me to book for Saturday & Sunday which both days didn’t really work with our schedule. Went down to the restaurant to ask about reservations for Tuesday & the person at the desk automatically made our reservations. Doesn’t do a good job of showing your schedule days in advance, and don’t bother booking excursions through it because it won’t give you all of the options. It gave me notifications about my excursions every day 30 minutes before the start time, BUT that was pretty much useless because by that time I was already on the tender boat going to the excursion. I did an ocean cruise so not sure if the results would be different with a river cruise.

The dumbest thing about this app, it that it only works while on the ship, apparently the info is fully maintained by the actual ship you are in. That’s fine, but there are times you’d like to check something while out.. Nope. And such an easy thing to do, to push the info out to the WEB. It’s like they knew they needed an app to be relevant to some, but they didn’t complete it. Second, even while on the ship, only about 50% of the available features actually worked. They either came back with no info (my calendar was empty the whole trip), or it was wrong beginning and ending destinies the same… and it wasn’t). The in room TV channel seemed OK, so not sure how they set it up such that the same database didn’t drive both consuming platforms. Seems ill implemented or managed.

We made a short trip by car from La Jolla California to the Port of Los Angeles/San Pedro to begin our Journey January 6th. First Port of Call a short run up the coast to Santa Barbara… a walking tour of the Fig District and a meeting with the architect most influential in the gentrification of this district was just what we needed to christen our voyage. Some world challenges and weather have altered our course to date. This is a journey. We roll with the swells. Recognizing: >Staff and command = 5 Stars >Lectures and Port Calls = 5 Stars >Variety of Cuisine/ quality and plating = 5 Stars >Cruise Director = absolutely over the top. Bruce is a gem >Salute to Captain Fredrick Nilsson for his secure hand on the helm and the surgical precision he performed threading the needle into Nelson (and out )… quite an experience. This is a top of the chart Cruise Company. An excellent investment for a priceless experience. While this app has a few bugs, it definitely outshines other cruise line’s apps. You can see what is on your daily schedule, pull up menus from the restaurants, and read the daily summary of all activities on the ship. It gives you information on each destination. You can also easily scroll through your future days’ activities so you know what you have already booked. As far as bugs, the app does not always allow you to book new activities. Even when you clearly have no conflicts, it may prohibit you from booking something on a particular day. Overall, however, far superior to other apps that I have used on cruise ships.

This app is well organized and gives plenty of details on all the activities available each day. It’s great to check up on all your own bookings. Since coming onboard the ship, which is the first time you can actually launch the app, I’ve used it frequently as well to navigate to all the different sections of the ship. Another great function is the ability to view the menus from all the different dining options. Overall, the navigation and organization warrants giving the app a 5-star rating.

This app has improved so much from its debut days. It almost could replace the viking daily paper we receive each evening. It does a good job of giving us the itinerary for the current day, the menu for the restaurants, and the calendar for current days. When they think to use it, it is fantastic at sending updated information such as a change of time for an event. It would be great if it would accurately show your excursions and let you add more. It would also be great if it showed you the open/close times for the restaurants and other venues. I look forward to seeing these features in the future.

Overall the app is very good. It proves information for my excursions and on ship bookings. Info is also provided as to what is happening each day, but only 1-2 days in advance. Something that can be improved upon would the the length of time for the excursions. I can see what time it leaves, but not the length. Yes, Viking does provide the info on the tickets. But having the info in one place on the app would be helpful. Also, having the info as to when shuttle bus or water shuttles are coming/going would also be helpful for those who want to stay ashore after the excursions. I highly recommend Viking Cruises and the Viking App.

A great app to use on our Ocean trip. As always people use apps different ways and there can always be a few tweaks. Dinner and excursions updated quickly when there were changes. Not all excursions are listed so be sure to check the port talks. We average 2 Viking trips a year and this was the first time we tried the app (Ocean) so I can’t comment on the River version. Great Videos!! Some suggestions; 1. Under the “My Account” add a “Notes” page or section to keep personal notations. Accessible off trip. 2. Add the city maps to a section. Granted confirmed docking location might not be available but generic city maps would be helpful. 3. Allow some app access prior to trip, city maps, scheduled itinerary, ship information, cabin info. Until the ships manifest is uploaded not everything could be available but it would be nice for trip planning to have some information.

The app works great on board but you must turn off VPN if you have it on! Does not work when VPN is on. I learned this from IT tech support on my ship. Once I turned off my VPN everything worked as expected. Updates frequently, has all our info, can make reservations and everything else you need on board. By the way, you can always turn VPN back on to send any sensitive info after using the app. No problem.

You can view everything you need to know about the cruise that you are enjoying. The itinerary, the dining options and menus, the floor plans, lecture schedules- everything! It is wonderfully organized. I have suggested to the company they provide a chat function or the very least a billboard type function. That would help cruisers find like-minded cruisers. I think it would be invaluable for cruisers to connect to one another. Why not? We are using our smartphones to connect to our Viking Voyage.

Room was spacious and well maintained. Food was of excellent quality. Could have used more seasoning but that’s just my personal preference. Tours and transportation were well organized and extremely educational, the tour guides were all experts. The only problem we encountered was with the Viking rep at our beginning hotel (Hilton Venice) she was not helpful. Overall an excellent experience and I plan to travel with Viking again.

Handy for tracking your scheduled excursions and the daily menu. The problem is that tickets will appear and disappear as you approach the day of an excursion (the front desk told us this happens when they actually create the tickets). If your tour includes days off the boat before or after the River portion, none of those will appear in the app… in fact it will act as if your tour is complete even if those days are part of the base package! The questionnaire portion repeated some questions and had no options to leave comments. There’s potential here but some glaring flaws need to be fixed.

The app is a nice complement to the paper Viking daily. My only reasons for giving it 4 not 5 stars are that you can only use it onboard and not while you are out on excursions and the inability to review previous days. It would be nice to be able to check reservation times and other activities while away from the ship. The other issue is that once a day has passed you cannot go back and review the activities from a previous day.

Overall it was a good app on the cruise, but it seemed to have glitches where words in the daily schedule were jibberish and don’t know if that is the person typing in or the app. Some confusion between daily schedule and calendar that seemed to overlap but then it did not. I would ask some people on one of your cruises to test it while underway and not report at the end of the cruise as we can’t remember by then! On app feedback from a screen snapshot would be easiest

Viking is by far the best cruise available. The ship itself is beautiful and well designed. Everything from the port selections, the available excursions, to the guest lecturers, is designed to enhance the experience. It is so much more than just a cruise. And there is plenty to just enjoy - infinity pool, live entertainment, various musical venues. After just one cruise, we decided to always choose Viking for our vacations, river or ocean.

The app is good when it works but it often closes as soon as it opens. I’ve had to delete and reload the app each day of the cruise. An added bonus would be to include where the excursions are meeting each day so that everything you needed were in one place. As it stands, some info is on the app, some info is in the daily news, and yet other info is on the room TV. Viking is a top notch crusade line though. This is our 3rd with Viking and we have one more booked with two more we hope to book soon.

The app is poorly design with limited functionality. It’s hard to find your plan excursions and doesn’t seem let look at previous excursions on the current cruise. Although it hints at letting you look at the Viking daily newsletter that feature does not work or is poorly implemented. Overall the app is of limited value so it’s good that it’s free. Also remember it’s only useable while you are on your cruise don’t expect use it to show friends and family after you get home.

This app proved to be a great way to conveniently find any information we wanted when on our cruise. Easily find the local weather forecast, get tour information, make reservations at the restaurants or spa, book tours, get information about your shipboard account, and much more. We found it to be extremely easy to use and very intuitive. As with anything Viking does, a truly first rate experience.

Unfortunately, the app isn’t very useful. The information isn’t kept up-to-date (the paper bulletin is more current) and the information that is available is limited. For example, the start times for shore excursions that have been booked are in the app, but no information on expected duration. One would expect to be able to check that online, perhaps? Ah no, the myjourney pages are not available during a cruise.

This is our 5th Viking Cruise. It’s our second ocean cruise. We are both loving it. The BEST in service, staterooms, restaurants and incredible excursions. We took a Royal Caribbean Cruise this past March. The ship was Symphony of the Seas, a beautiful ship, but way too big & way too many passengers. We prefer Viking’s Small Ocean ships by far. Our 3 River Cruises were good, too, but nothing like the amenities offered here. Way to go Viking

Words cannot describe our experience on this ship, with this crew, on this continent; but I will try. Amazing. Professional caring crew from the captain to the behind the scenes staff. Impeccable service. Immaculate environment onboard. Truly a fun, educational, and enjoyable cruise. The onboard communications were timely and fully informative and the Viking Voyager app kept us in the loop at all times. Very helpful and well executed!

The App is fine. No problem with it. It’s actually very useful. The only thing I might suggest is adding current weather and sailing conditions. We awoke in the middle of the night during a storm and would have found it comforting to read something about the current weather and the ship’s capacity to handle it. Otherwise top notch ship, crew and app. OMG, don’t even get me started about the food! Ok, I’ll keep it to one word: Magnificent!

The Viking app used to function as a guide for the art on board their ships. With its latest updates, it’s a nearly full service concierge for Viking’s cruises. I open it many times a day when I’m on board and couldn’t complete a Viking itinerary without it. I like that it easily connects once you’re on board the ship you’re booked on.

What else to say about perfection?! The Viking staff truly understand service and hospitality!! The smallest details have been anticipated, all we guests need do is relax into their plans. Their guest lecturers and onboard specialists are outstanding, the entertainment professionals tops in their class!! You deserve this opportunity to be pampered and appreciated! Enjoy, luxuriate and transcend!! We do, and treasure every moment!!

This is our third trip with Viking and I find the app very easy to use. The only issues I had were operator error and getting used to it. It is a great quick reference for the daily plan, dining reservations, excursions and on board activities. The cruise itself was great even with the Covid restrictions. We felt very safe throughout and the restrictions were not onerous.

I am on my first Viking cruise and enjoying every minute of it. The staff have been friendly and quick to fulfill any request. The food is amazing. The entertainment is wonderful whether you enjoy classical, pop, individual players or a rocking band. I fully expect to be a passenger on several more cruises with Viking.

I’ve had to uninstall and reload the app everyday. When it is working it’s great. Giving you daily information, allowing you to schedule excursions, spa and dinner reservations directly through the app. You can find out what the menus are, what you have on your calendar and check your onboard account activity directly through the app; I just hope they get that crashing and needing to reload fixed!

This app will allow you to link (transfer to Siri) to the Viking Cruise website so you can view cruises that are offered. But as far as managing your cruise data and itinerary, it does not work for their river cruises, only for ocean cruises at this time. And that only works when you are using their onboard WiFi. So it’s not for logging in, viewing, or updating your cruise data as you would on the computer prior to your arrival. This app is only useful while you are onboard a Viking Ocean Cruise ship, not a Viking River Cruise ship.

The app is great for knowing what is going on that day on the ship. I would like to be able to know the times if the dining options. The app tells you to look at the hard copy daily, but who wants to carry that around. Also someplace to see the arrival and departure times for each day on the ship ahead of the current day would be a nice add to the app.

We did experience some confusion at the airport in San Juan meeting up with our transport, but once together they were friendly and helpful. The ship is beautiful and comfortable, easy to get around. Excursions have been fun. The food is over the top and plentiful. Best part is the staff their friendliness and superb help with everything!

I would. Never properly loaded despite my efforts and the team at Viking. When it did give you a chance to set it up it said there was no record of my booking - after I had checked in and was onboard the ship!! Even more interesting was it loaded perfectly for my wife - we have the same phones!! Tried using the website from Viking that we had used prior to the cruise. When we tried to log in it said we had sailed-yes we were on the ship!! But it wouldn’t let us in - useless!!

We have been on board for but a few hours, but this is IMPRESSIVE! The Viking app is fabulous, full of up to the minute informstion about the cruise, our shore excursions, etc. The modernity and technical features are tops. We are many times cruisers on lines such as Oceania (13 times) and Regent (several), among others. We have two more booked on Viking and they won’t be the last.

Being able to check the menus for each venue for the next evening makes dinner plans go smoother. And being able to check other cruise details on my phone or tablet makes the excellent Viking experience even better. Thank you Viking.

It’s helpful to have the app available on my phone but there was a rather big problem because we could only see one person’s schedule (my husband’s). We didn’t always have the same excursions so that is a feature that needs to be fixed. I clicked on my name, but nothing displayed. If we both had the same excursions both our names displayed. I reported and showed guest services the display and they said it would be reported.

This app was a good idea; however not being able to log in until the ship and then having most of the information not provided or inaccurate was frustrating. Our Viking daily was never there, the excursions were wrong, the menu was incomplete, FAQ were not included. Would be nice to use the app for the whole trip and all info to be included. Easily could do the trip without the app with how useless it was.

Liked the app and inboard wi-fi was much better than expected. Would recommend having the excursion and experience feedback as part of the app, and more real-time booking capabilities for dining and spa reservations. Not all the spa treatments were visible in the app. Also, would like to track onboard account charges through the app and get a notification when something was charged.

Accessing the daily itinerary and event info is very useful and keeps me from keeping to-do lists on paper. I would recommend one thing (not a complaint) and that is to provide a virtual Viking Daily rather than downloading the pdf to my device.

App works great when it has the information, unfortunately on our latest trip on the Mississippi, the app was in constant conflict with the actual and correct excursion information. Other than the excursion information, it works great.

Would like to see the app offer times that the various dining venues are open, rather than requiring us to review the paper version of the Viking daily. Also, it would be great if it could provide the ship’s time, which would help us ensure our phones were accurately set.

The Grand European trip has been our first river cruise. It exceeded our expectations and we’d plan another River cruise in the future. Viking did an exemplary job with their selection tour guide companies. In addition, the program director, Kane, knew as much if not more history regarding each excursion and location. The food, rooms and staff were terrific. Many thanks to Viking for a great 14 days.

I can’t imagine anything that Viking could do to make this trip any better! The rooms, the dining, the food, the staff, the entertainment couldn’t be more enjoyable. This is our second Viking cruise and we are already set up next week to meet to discuss another one.

We are first time Viking cruiser . Been cruising but kept hearing about how great Viking was . It is true indeed , it’s a feat Viking experience ! The ocean ship is immaculately clean and beautiful. Entertainment is superb . Restaurants served great tasty extraordinary presentation of dishes. It was a wonderful experience ! Next for us will be river cruises. Can’t wait. Thanks Viking for the experience !

The app is a good idea if it actually did anything for you. There is a calendar for your own excursions and activities but frequently it does not list ALL your activities or does not update when changes are made. Dining hours are not listed on app. Making reservations for anything - restaurants, excursions, lectures etc is non- existent. So many things have improvements are needed.

This app is very much better than the old one. We had an issue with all of our restaurant reservations not showing up, I haven’t been able to bring up the Viking Daily and couldn’t find the services for nails in the app. Over all though it is much better.

I want to know when the fitness center opens and the hours it is open. Also fitness classes and other group fitness activities... I wish that info was in the app, otherwise well organized and very useful:) I found the opening time.... buried pretty deep though:)

Fantastic app makes it so easy to find activities and menus. Would be greatly improved if it allowed you to tag activities of interest and generate a personal schedule for each day. Another improvement would be ability to connect with others with messages and sharing activities.

This is my third Viking cruise/river and needless to say the staff crew were excellent!! Always a smile! My only complaint is the internet has not been the best. Not sure why but has really caused some problems with communicating with our crew of 14 on the ship, and also my family at home.. But yes I will be planning another journey with VIKING!

My husband and I have cruised with Viking two times and they have never disappointed us! They take very good care of their customers and they make sure all the details are in place for an exceptional experience!
