I don’t usually review apps, but I’ve never had an easier time with check in than with Viva Aerobús. I have flown with Aeromexico for years but honestly they are not very nice and they create a lot of extra bureaucracy to do very simple processes—Viva Aerobús isn’t like that. Yes there isn’t first class or premium economy on their flights, but the process of check in couldn’t be easier because the app works like every airline app should—it saves your information and only takes 15 seconds to check in. If only every airline’s app worked as well as this one!
1. Booked a flight tried to cancel within 24hours, but due to 2 HOURS ON HOLD they did not honor the 24 limit for full refund instead gave me a certificate. 2. Took 2 days to receive certificate via email, the instructions tell you to book online, click payment options then enter certificate number. THERE IS NO SUCH OPTION! 3. Show up to airport 1 hr early, there was no one in the booth… i could not check in online so I could get my boarding pass. By the time I walked to the other side of the airport where they had another booth, they said my flight was closed (45 min til flights) and we couldn’t board. Moved to next flight. 3. Certificate was only honored for 1 person Same passengers, but they said since it was under my name they couldn’t give it to the other passenger. Took 1 1/2 hrs to book flight on phone. 4. Been on hold over an hour trying to add baggage cause the rep gave me the wrong package. NEVER AGAIN. I THOUGHT THE OTHER AIRLINES WERE BAD… this takes the cake. I rarely write reviews but i had to here. Wasting hours s of my life to reedem my certificate and lost money bc i will not be able to use the full balance.
Terrible airline & app to avoid if at all possible
This ‘budget’ airline excels and adding charges and inconveniences. Don’t be fooled by the fictitious and deceptive published fares. And, avoid my mistake by reading all the fine print VERY closely. Their web site pushed a ticket i mistakenly confirmed resulted in my paying 3x the published fare I originally purchased to ultimately arrive much later than needed for a business trip. This included their forcing me to buy a premium seat that I never wanted. To resolve their booking mistake, they did not allow me to make correction via web site or app. I spent 3x more time, 6 hours, on the phone waiting to speak w customer service representatives to correct their mistake than the actual time on the flight. I had to call more than 5 times to start anew w their call center rep because when we were approaching a solution, the phone line ‘mysteriously’ disconnected repeatedly! So i had to start over w online waits as much as 1 hour to speak w a rep. The app follows the attitude of the company to focus on upselling while not attending to basic service like using the app to inform of gate arrival/departure or updates on flight status. I will be deleting the app as they had obliged me to download it to board the plane. In closing, this is a terrible airline that I recommend avoiding if at all possible.
I read many negative reviews but thought I would give Vivaaerobus a try. I went light but didn’t select my seat. I had an Osprey Fairview 55L for my carryon and the detachable backpack for my personal item. I was assigned a great seat which was very comfortable and in zone 2 so I boarded the plane very early. The airline personnel were very friendly. I’m a repeat customer already!
It would be helpful, if when someone chooses English, that the entire process be written in English. I have bought two tickets this week and I will choose English, and it continually goes back to Spanish. Which is very frustrating, I have to copy and paste every section into a translation app. Then I have to go back to the app and start the entire process again. Your app has a major glitch, every time I open it, I have to update the app. Even after I update it, and I have to leave the app to translate, what is now in Spanish to the English language. And I have to update the app again, again, and again!
The last few times I’ve flown with viva and I fly with viva often , when I’ve wanted to add baggage on the app it’s quite difficult and as a customer who uses viva often it makes me upset when I get to the airport and have to pay more for baggie because the app isn’t working properly. I’ve over paid for the baggage the last few times and it’s very frustrating and it makes me the customer upset. I would suggest working on receiving payment for baggage on the app. As a repeat customer of viva the last few times I’ve flown with you due to the baggage situation I have not had a good experience with your airline , I hope you can fix this soon because I do enjoy flying viva. Complicated no reimbursement and terrible servicio
When deciding on an airline let Viva be your last choice. I am still waiting after a whole year to be compensated for a luggage they stole and now ignore my request and calls. They have delayed my plane 2 twice from LA and from Tijuana, they do it without consideration or a care to their customers. They have lost my aunts walker and feel no remorse for have lost a medical equipment that someone who is disabled needs. Save your money don’t travel with this airline unless it is truly your last choice and desperate. Sadly we are limited to what we get to choose but none the less I will be honest and make sure that it is known how careless and unprofessional this airline is.
This has to be one of the worst airlines I’ve ever flown and I’ve flown all over the world. It starts before you even reach the airport, their app never works so you end up unable to check in and have to wait in line even if you’re not checking a bag. The wait time is always at least 30 minutes. Every flight is late, and you end up waiting 20-30 minutes to get to the gate when landing in the destination. Overall you end up wasting an hour or more almost every trip compared to other airlines. There are usually comparable prices with other airlines so I recommend choosing any other flight unless you have no option.
Everything is great and smooth until it’s time to pay! This is my second time around and had the same issue. I called as I was told per the site and when I did they said they couldn’t help me since I was doing my booking online. I waited until the next day and still had issues… finally after two day of trying I was able yo book the flights but at a much higher rate. Please fix that:).
This is my first time using the app and as I was checking in I decided to pay for a checked back ahead of time but unfortunately the “pay now button” would not work. I tired closing the application, deleting it, and then reinstalling it but nothing. It was kind of annoying having to fill in my information multiple times only for the pay button not to work at all. This could just have been a glitch on my end or maybe not.
in April, I replenished my account through viva cash, which never appeared there. support just ignored this situation! in the end, I had to replenish again and redeem tickets at an insane cost. After contacting PROFECO, a month later, the money appeared on my account, but they refused to return it to my credit card. They don't answer emails anymore! But what is most interesting: today I went to check the balance of viva cash and it is equal to 0! My money is gone again! I don't have enough words to describe the disgusting behavior of Vivaaerobus! This is Viva's mistake, for which I paid a huge amount of money!!!
I have flown Viva Aerobus twice now and used their apps to check in for both flights. The app has a beautiful user interface with easy to access information such as baggage allowance, flight information, aircraft information, and it even tracks your aircraft before boarding. Great job on this app!
Since four years ago, I’ve had the opportunity to travel and take many flights. Most of the flights I’ve taken were managed by low-cost airlines such as Spirit, VivaAerobus, Volaris, Alaska, etc. To be honest I haven’t found an app between airlines as useful as the one from VivaAerobus. I consider this app as a “state-of-art” development.
I been using Viva Aerobús for a while and so far I have never has any issues regarding delays the only thing I can think they can improve is to have a better training for desk customer service and flight attendant sometimes I feel they are not in a good mood and really don’t make people feel welcome.
The booking and check in was done without a problem from the app. In this flight I had to change my return and was able to do it from the site without calling anybody. I hope viva aerobús continues to update app to continue making this a great service.
Ir they would make this app so u can make changes without having to call customer service it would be great but for the things that don’t matter u can make changes but the things you really need to adjust or fix you still have to call customer service that’s why it only got 3 stars for the app , hopefully they can fix so we can do the changes ourselves then it’s definitely a 5 start app ..
Seamless process and carryon included that is a great competitive advantage.
This is the first time I am going to fly with viva and having a carryon and a personal item included with the price is what is going to make me want to buy Viva vs competitors. I cannot wait to see the type of customer service
Viva is good, I don’t have any issues with the service of the company (no more than any other airline). But, their app is terrible!!! Half the time it doesn’t even open, it just keeps hanging at the green VivaAerobus entry screen forever. When it works, it works well. But the problem is the majority time the app simply does not work or go past the loading screen. Build your apps in-house Viva! And please get a better mobile engineering group to own it. Like, it’s March 2023 and their copyright stilllll says 2022!! Get it together Viva!!
They delay their own flights to make it seem like you will miss your flight. They will charge you two times for checked-in baggage. I had an 8am flight that was delayed until 1pm. Their planes are always breaking and need maintenance. I recommend flying with another airline if you could, they have seriously worsened in the last few months. Retrasan sus propios vuelos para que parezca que vas a perder el vuelo. Te cobrarán dos veces por el equipaje facturado. Tenía un vuelo de las 8 de la mañana que se retrasó hasta la 1 de la tarde. Sus aviones siempre se estropean y necesitan mantenimiento. Recomiendo volar con otra aerolínea si puedes, han empeorado seriamente en los últimos meses.
Worse airline in Mexico… if u can avoid them all the way you are better of, if for some reason you need to cancel or u miss ur plane or even if u are 1 min late, that’s it, no reschedule, no money back, no discount nothing, you lose ur money, their app for check in is tricky if you don’t buy them a sit on top of your boarding fee they don’t let you pre check and you have to make the line and put up with their stupid rules and if ur traveling to the states is even worse and people is rude and unhelpful.
Have tried to have it all in English. It changes to Spanish making it difficult to navigate
Have several pages of the same Flight. Entering information multiple times. Unable to permanently change to English to understand mall the requirements and instructions.
This has to ve the worst airline ever. They are always delayed among other things, but now I found myself having to take this airline because my mother passed and I was in a hurry to be there for the wake, mass, burial. My flight was delayed for 2 hours which also caused mi to lose my connection, I was so late that I was not there for the funeral, tried talking to the airline so that they could help me get on a different flight, but they were unwilling to help or even tried to pretend that they cared.
I love been flying with them for almost 3 years and I love this airline miare than volaris the app is super helpful and when k call to ask anything g they always have a quick answer and help me out the best they can. We’re excited to keep flying with them
Couldn’t check in for my flight normally from my email one day before, downloaded the app and couldn’t do it either. (Said my boarding pass was going to be at airport). Got to airport 1:40 min before my national flight and they had overbooked all flights and had nothing else for us to “buy”. Because they said we lost our initial flight by not being 2 hrs before. (Even though the flight was delayed 35 min). This is a complete scam I would strongly suggest against this company.
The check-in process is very complete, offering the ability to introduce passport, global entry or TSA-PRE numbers and visa information to get e-boarding pass, and it takes about 3 mins.
Could not use voucher for payment in dollars even though I paid original transaction, which I cancelled and received a voucher for, in dollars. Would not accept my credit card for a balance in pesos after redeeming my voucher. Struggled with this app and website for 4 days. Very poor customer service on 800 number as well. No one is consistent in their support. Horrible! Horrible! Nightmare. Paid way too much for my reservation because of this problem.
I spent 30 minutes trying to do the check in over and over and I couldn't. After I finished putting all the family information again and again. Keep telling me that have some issues with the documents and we have to go to the counter or try again. Totally a waisted of time
It is not possible to change : Gender on the profile registered credit card on app In addition not possibility to get option for no choosing the seat and save money .. Thank you Also it is not posible to eliminate express boarding and the app charges you anyway $200 pesos adicional

This airline lacks their customer service representatives at front counter can’t help you and just tell you to call CS hotline. And of course what does the CS over the phone does make you wait and wait not able to resolve any issues. Not to mention the amount of times that they changed the hours of departure due to delays. Terrible Experience!
Works great , keeps past and future trips organized. It’s nice to be able to look back and compare prices and details as well. Only suggestion…. Maybe add the points program to reflect in the app…

The good: it’s easy to navigate The bad: inaccurate and doesn’t update We flew to Mexico with a layover in Mexico City when arriving and departing. Each time the flight was delayed (one of them for over two hours) and each time the app gave a status of “On Time”. The app also didn’t list the correct gates and didn’t change the gate number when there was a change. It also listed the wrong terminals.
Anytime I have flown on this airline they are always on time and very structured. I love the fact that they make everyone stay seated and exit the way that they’re seated I highly recommend them.

I edit a check in baggage to my trip, and the app will not take my form of payment. I called the bank and the bank was not the issue. I had to call the airlines directly to complete the payment so I could be allowed to complete my check in.
Great but on the recent upgrade the multi destination when booking disappeared. What’s up with that? Even on the website it’s gone. Please bring it back! It’s annoying to have to book it separately!! Also ever since recent updates of like 2 weeks, the app constantly crashes or takes forever. HELP!!
I been traveling with viva autobús for the last 2 years and I hadn’t anything bad to say however sometimes the customer service personnel in the gate counters treat customer with a bad attitude. Not me but I seen it.
So easy and clear! Better than all America airlines apps. I do wish there was an English version, for those of us still learning. But I get by without it just fine!
Missed my flight because I can’t check in. I showed up like 5 min after the hour window of the flight. The counter was closed at CBX. They told me at the TJ counter i should have arrived earlier. How about you fix your app so I don’t have this issue? They don’t care. The app is in an endless loading loop despite me deleting it and reinstalling several times. No one cares to solve these issues
Arriving in Puerto Vallarta, baggage claim is extremely slow. The pilot didn’t turn on the A/C until 20 minutes after the flight attendants noticed me using a hand fan to try to cool off.
When my language is set to English through the app settings, my notifications and pop ups in the app (like the one asking me to leave a review) are in Spanish. The load times of various pages of the app are also very slow - but I see this on the desktop site as well.
I’m a frequent flyer with volaris my auntie in Mexico suggested this airline, not only is it cheaper than Volaris but the app is so much more modern and easier to navigate. I will definitely stick to this app.

The only way to document and pay for luggage is through the app or at the airport where your charged crazy fees. The app keeps crashing everytime I keep adding baggage. I used the website and it does not give me the option through there. I am forced to pay at the airport where they charge you ridiculous amount. I’m pretty mad with this experience.
