Deleting my Lyft app
Have been wanting to try Waymo for awhile, and after a very long and uncomfortable Lyft ride where bro’s car smelled like a dirty gym sock, I knew it was time to make the switch. I thought I would be nervous to ride in a driverless car, but as a pedestrian I’ve seen them out and about on the roads and they seemed like very safe and polite “drivers” (unlike most humans) and that was exactly the experience I had riding in it too. Quiet, comfortable, no pressure to talk to a stranger or cope with their crazy driving. The car seemed to cruise control at 40mph even though it was early Sunday morning and there was no traffic, felt perfect for me, I don’t want to go super fast. I like that you can follow on the screen the car’s route and see people and other vehicles that it has seen, much like on a Tesla, so there’s no question of whether the car has seen that truck next to it. It even stopped, rather awkwardly, for a jaywalker, who at first was trying to signal for the car to pass by him until he realized there was no driver to signal to, lol. I will love when it expands out to the farther reaches of the valley. I live just northwest of downtown so most places in Waymo’s service territory are places I can easily get to on the light rail or bus for $4, but it will be nice for when I don’t want to bother with a bunch of transfers or need to get somewhere faster.

Waymo Is The Future!
I had the opportunity to take my first ride with Waymo this evening, and I must say, it was nothing short of amazing. The driverless technology left me genuinely impressed, and I found myself thinking, "I've seen the future, and it's Waymo." The entire experience was top-notch from the moment I stepped into the vehicle. Despite my initial hesitation about the lack of a driver, it quickly became a non-issue. The lack of a driver wasn't as strange as you might think. I found myself immersed in the journey, either checking the view out the window or engrossed in my phone. One standout aspect was the affordability of Waymo. In a time where tipping has become an expectation everywhere you go, it was refreshing not to worry about it post-ride. Tip fatigue is a real thing, and Waymo eliminates that concern. Kudos to Waymo for making the future of transportation so accessible and user-friendly! Driverless technology is definitely the future, and I’m looking forward to my next ride—affordable, convenient, and tip-free. Thanks, Waymo!

Terrible customer service after “unexpected issue” during ride
Our car pulled over to stop, we unbuckled our seatbelts and started to exit. The car said it experienced and unexpected issue and started driving across town to a support person. We weren’t able to choose to pull over or end the ride until we were over four blocks uphill from our original destination. My mother can’t handle the steep downhill walks, and we had to call a cab from another company to take us. When we reached out to Waymo, I was hoping for an acknowledgment of the issue and at least a partial credit considering the extra cost we incurred and error on their end. I was not asking for a refund. The support agent seemed to be a bot, and just kept repeating that sometimes the car can’t find a safe place to pull over and needs to find a place to do so. The car ~was pulled over~, and had plenty of other places to do so, when it started moving again due to an “unexpected error”, but was not going to. It took us half a mile uphill away from our drop off. There was not an option to press pull over or end the ride for blocks. These rides are already not cheap. Take responsibility when issues happen instead of giving people the run around. As it appears Waymo isn’t interested in attempting to correct issues when they occur, this experience has left me deleting the Waymo app and will absolutely be telling visitors to choose other ride options.

First time experience
Of course everyone’s very hasty about a driverless car. This was my first time in one with my betrothed. Very good at acknowledging firetrucks and ambulances as well as police sirens. Had a smooth ride and we even cracked a few cold ones on the way home. I really can’t complain when waymo’s first priority is safety whether it’s pedestrians or the people in the car. The technology used is very superior to the Tesla self driving system. Everyone loves to hate on this company but once you’re inside and actually have a safe drive home after a drunken night you end up feeling good about the company. I could play my own music in the car via Google Assistant and that was amazing. The only downside of riding Waymo is that it’s not ready for freeway use so we ended up having to go through the streets only. Overall 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I’ll continue to be a loyal customer.

Waymo drive was smooth and safe.
I have waited a long time to ride in the Waymo. I remember when they had drivers driving them. Well, today was the day I got to do it. It was surreal as a 62 year old that’s seen a lot of changes in the car industry. It felt like a futuristic moment in time that I will be able to tell my grandkids about. My husband and I drove to the Ahwatukee Town Center and left our car just to have this experience. The ride was extremely smooth and then we realized the car was a Jaguar. No wonder. So that was a plus!! The Waymo was very courteous to other drivers and even made a few quick stops when other cars got in our way. At the end of the drive I told Waymo Thanks for the ride (he deserved a pat on the back too ). 😊 P.S. And of course, I loved the fact that I didn’t have to tip!

So safe you forget it’s self-driven
The first time you get in a Waymo and click the “Start Ride” button, you feel a bit horrified. The car plays a little safety video and starts driving itself. But after about 30 seconds, all the fear goes away and you completely forget the fact that AI is driving you. And then you quickly lose yourself in the luxurious Jaguar car with music that you have full control over (and don’t need to feel self conscious with a driver listening to it!) As for the app, it’s well-designed and easy to use. The only problem is on some vehicles the music doesn’t connect to the car. It’d be great if they added AirPlay support to the cars, but I don’t see Google bending over backwards to add Apple technologies to their vehicles.

Joyous ride
I was very empress with the service. I requested a ride and within minutes, I received notification that my Waymo ride was waiting for me. I look at my app and followed the directions and saw that if I didn’t respond within 5 minutes, my ride will leave. So I press the walking prompt and I found my ride. I continued to read the prompt and I got inside of the car, then off I went. I got in and the car was nicely cleaned and the air conditioning was at a nice temperature. I fasten my seat belt and sat back and enjoyed the ride while smooth music was playing very lightly. I had a very joyous experience and I truly enjoyed my ride. If you’re one of those folks that want a peaceful ride , this would be great for you. Doris T

Attempt to drop in unsafe area!
My friend and I called a Waymo, was attempting to drop us directly in front of the entrance but child not find a "valid stopping spot" to let us out so it circles the block to an entire different location surrounded by homeless and sketch characters (down town LA is not always safe in certain locations). Waymo in-car representative could NOT take control of the vehicle remotely to get us out of that situation. I find this to be crazy when there is no driver present!! Was only offered a $5 credit promo and advised to call another Wayno to take us around the block to out actual drop off location which would have take another 10 minutes. Mind you people are beginning to circle the vehicle with cameras on top, looking into the windows and curious of the situation or possibility looking for a victim to Rob, who knows!!! After 10 minutes of sitting there waiting for the reps to get an actual resolution, never getting us to a supervisor to help with the situation... we just gave up and took the risk to exit the vehicle (scared and angry) and walk around to our destination carrying our valuables and personal belongings we had with us in backpacks. (A target for a theaf if desperate enough) I will never use this platform unless real resolutions to time sensitive situations are taken because this was an very scary situation they placed us in and was avoidable!! Terrible UNSAFE service/platform!!

Terrible experience
This ride was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a self driving vehicle. Cruise was much more accommodating RIP.. we were less than a block away from the first destination when we realize that we left some thing behind, so I added the destination as the first point and the Waymo abruptly stopped and said that we’ve arrived. We then called customer service and they advise us to drive a little further and then re-add the stop we ended up drifting further away, so we decided to head to the second destination. which was a block and a half from the correct point. In addition, the way almost stopped in the middle of the intersection with vehicles passing on our left side. This was not safe. It was very inconvenient to top it off. I was not given a credit for my time and was told that wayis grateful for our feedback as they are improving. We should not be charged for helping the technology improve. I would like my $23 back.

Awesome with some glitches
I love this technology and admire your tenacity for continually developing it to make it better. Today we were picked up near Jackson and Washington in San Francisco at about noon. There was an SF fire department truck at our pick up spot. The Waymo tried to pass it but then froze blocking traffic. It tried to back up and got stuck at right angles blocking both directions. Our trip canceled but we reordered the ride and were pickup a block away a few minutes later. Don’t get discouraged. This is the future and you are making it happen. I am confident that it will continue to improve by leaps and bounds. When I am in the car I feel 100 percent safe and well taken care of.

1st experience
Our family is in Scottsdale for a spring break excursion, when we witnessed these vehicles moving about and had zero clue as to what they were. Googled it, and found this to be the newest wave in getting places without driving- without ANYONE actually driving. It was an adventure, experience, and something we will never forget. Our children loved it, we loved it, and it was all TOO EASY! We want to now take this again before our trip ends, and were wondering when each vehicle may have its own personalized name and a possible short conversation! EXCITING!! -Ry

Okay
It’s okay. I wish I could give this 5 stars cause I love the idea of this, but its new and still needs refined. Some things that I’ve noticed needs work: There clearly isn’t enough cars yet, I was excited that this could be a cheaper option than lyft or uber yet, it’s almost always double the price. Wait times are inaccurate, I’ve been quoted wait times then be reconnected to a new car when the car was only a few minutes away cause my wait time to be doubled that originally requested, it’s hard to plan what time to leave when the wait times are inaccurate, then when you go to cancel you’ll get charged a 5$ fee?! I’m overall still excited and hope it improves over time but these two things are making the rides usability and convenience very hard.

Almost perfect app
I’m slightly apprehensive about sharing location details knowing Google’s less than perfect reputation on privacy. However, after taking a few rides, I’m impressed with how well designed and helpful the app is. I quickly got through the learning curve of taking my first self-driving taxi ride. Unfortunately, I have experienced a few hiccups. Firstly, the time the car would allow in between pick-ups using the multi-stop feature changed from three hours to 30 minutes. Since I didn’t receive any communication about the change via email or in the app, I thought the app wasn’t working right and it was a frustrating, inexplicable experience. Secondly, on my last trip the door unlock button didn’t appear when being picked up, so I couldn’t get in the car until I force quit the app and tried again. Another area the app could improve is the live activities feature. That could be developed more, because seeing live updates of the arrival time in the Dynamic Island and Lock Screen would be so helpful. The final thing I’ll add is that riding in the Waymo car itself is an amazing experience and I’m sure the app will catch up soon.

Dangerous ride
My eight year old niece and I wanted to take a ride just up to the nearest store and back. It took us to the store, but instead of coming back the same way, it took us a few miles in the opposite direction and then once it got on the main street coming back the right direction, it’s stopped in the middle of a 40 mile an hour street. The vehicle behind us almost hit us. Then the car proceeded to go 10 miles an hour for 6 blocks until it reached a red light. We did not know if it was going to stop at the red light because it was obviously malfunctioning. We called customer support while this was happening and they said all they could do is file the report of the complaint. It was absolutely scary not knowing what could possibly happen. This is not a perfect technology. I will never ride with this company again.

First time rider — won’t be my last
I really enjoyed my first ride with a Waymo car in San Francisco. It was a very relaxing and surreal experience. The car was clean — I had no idea I’d be riding in a Jaguar! It was awesome. It’s important that you pay attention because the car may have to pick you up a few feet away from your pick up location thanks to all of the cars illegally parked and getting in the way. Just be sure you keep your eyes peeled and use the app to locate the car. Nice ride and can’t wait to see this evolve and move to more cities!!

My first ride and I deleted Lyft app for Waymo
This is my first ride and I am heading to work. I do love quiet morning. I don’t like to talk at all. This is very smooth ride and very careful when it comes to stopping at the intersection. I am a introvert. This not give me social anxiety at all. I am not forced to talk to a driver. I did not panic since I am claustrophobic. I love the music when I first sat down. It is vibing the ambient music. I love how easy to open the door when I am getting in and out. I love how very clean and impeccable top notch clean the car. I am very meticulous when it comes to cleanliness. I say this with confidence with Waymo. I do love Jaguar cars. It is a plus Waymo drive smoothly than a humans. The haters will hate. I feel more secure and safe with Waymo than a taxi. I’ve been to accident in Taxi and my dad twice they are a reckless drivers out there. With Waymo I feel safe and almost I fall asleep it is very early morning commute to my work.

We enjoyed the experience
This was our second ride while visiting phoenix for the Alliance Conference. Very interesting. Ride was smooth music was entertaining. We recorded and had a great ride. On our 1st ride it stated that you can sing and they won’t listen, but the song we were listening to said the word break and WAMO breaked! It does listen and that’s a great thing, it just wasn’t from us singing, only from the song. We enjoyed both rides and glad we had the experience to share with others. Thank you Waymo, it’s Waymo than we expected!!!

Pricing is severely over priced
3 stars for now until they fix these issues. Most time price is more then double compared to Uber and Lyft. Especially when you have to walk to pick up or after your drop off. Will also add to your commute time so be mindful when you have to be somewhere on time. A ride from miracle mile area Los Angeles to 26th and wilshire Santa Monica like 7 miles is $40 plus dollars. Uber and Lyft usually averages $28-$30 most times a little less. When you have a ratings etc with Uber and Lyft you always get 5 star drivers and clean cars. I’ll continue to do that and also tip a real human to help them for less then what this Waymo app is charging.

Critique
We took the Waymo from Scottsdale to the JW Marriott Desert Ridge. The app indicated we might have to walk from the drop off point. The drop off point was at the bottom of the circle for the JW main entrance. Once we got out the Waymo proceeded to go around the circle and through the main entrance for the hotel. Why didn’t it just drop us off in front of the hotel since it was going there anyway? Is there an override function as a passenger? Understandable if the car isn’t going down a particular road. Thank you

it’s like they don’t actually want customers.
i used to use waymo for my daily commute in the phoenix area and enjoyed it. they like to arbitrarily deactivate the area surrounding my job from time to time, however…as in, i waymo to work and then suddenly my location is unavailable when it’s time to leave. 🤦🏾‍♂️ recently, there was construction along the route to work, so they deactivated the area, which is completely understandable. however, the construction ended a while ago and, despite more than one email (with canned responses), they outright refuse to reactivate the area. despite a log of trips showing my repeated travel to this area as well as the pin location showing as squarely within their service area, i get robo-responses about “adding new areas” and am ignored when i explain it’s not a new area. i’ve never seen a company work so diligently to make it impossible to purchase their services; perhaps they’re allergic to money, or have a kink for bad reviews and frustrated emails…idk. what i do know is they seem incapable of fulfilling a simple request or replying to an email in a way that makes sense. 0/10 do not recommend.

Watch out Uber and Lyft !!!!
Today was the first time I tried a Waymo ride. I was always leery of riding in a car without a driver, but I needed a ride just 3 miles from my home to work so I thought, why not? Give it a try. It was AWESOME !!!!! No weird, overly chatty driver like I’ve had dozens of times with ride-share!!! I’ve had some really bad ride-share drivers. It was even way cheaper fare than Uber/Lyft - no tip either. The app is super easy to use and Apple Pay. I would recommend to anyone who is curious about this type of ride. Go for it!!

Very good experience
The entire experience from start to finish was enjoyable. The ride felt safe and secure from the moment we got into the vehicle. Two friends and I enjoyed a 15 minute drive where we observed the vehicle driving in traffic making a lane change that was completely safe andthe lane control or traffic lights. While I think this is the wave of the future, it really should be the wave of the present for safety and predictability. I give this five stars, and we are very proud to engage in this new form of transportation.

Almost ready to delete Uber/Lyft apps
LOVE Waymo! ❤️I remember the first time I’ve tried Waymo ride, it was incredible! Since then I refuse to take other ride sharing options: their dirty and smelly cars and awkward conversation or silence. Waiting for a larger service area to be available in LA and to LAX airport and definitely will delete Uber/Lyft apps. Also, would be cool if Waymo collaborate with American Express for monthly credit, similar to what Uber has now with their $10 monthly credit for Amex Gold credit card holders! Would be fantastic! 🎉

Waymo
I wanted to share my recent experience with Waymo's ride service. The journey was seamless and comfortable, and I was particularly impressed with the vehicle's smooth navigation and adherence to traffic rules. The car arrived promptly at the scheduled time, and the ride itself was both quiet and efficient. The interior of the vehicle was clean and well-maintained, providing a pleasant atmosphere for the duration of the trip. Additionally, the app's user interface was intuitive and made the booking process straightforward. One aspect that stood out was the advanced safety features of the autonomous system. Throughout the ride, I felt secure and confident in the vehicle's ability to handle various driving conditions. Overall, my experience with Waymo was exceptional, and I would highly recommend their service to anyone looking for a reliable and innovative transportation option.

I've been to the future
I just rode in my first Waymo One car. I can it rave enough about it! It felt extremely safe. Safer than 99% of any Uber/Lyft rides and drivers. It was such a smooth experience from ordering the car, the car arriving to the correct pickup spot, the smooth introduction, ease of use of music while riding, the fun solo dance party while driving, and the drop off. I've never done a self driving car and this was an amazing experience! I would choose this over a human driver any day!

Waymo, I love you.
⭐️ Safety - Not only does the ride itself feel safer, as a woman, I also know that no one is going to try to pick me up or copy down my address. ⭐️ Comfort - The drive is so much more comfortable than human drivers. So smooth! ⭐️ Privacy - I love that I can talk on the phone, meditate, do my makeup, or sing along to my music in complete solitude. ⭐️ Ease - The app is so easy to use. The count down when my ride comes is helpful. The little touches like your custom initials on the car are so fun. ⭐️ Smell - Waymo smells soooo good by comparison to my Lyft rides. No body odor. No cigarettes. No pot. And the cars are always clean! I feel so posh cruisin in my Waymo. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ JOY! - I look forward to my Waymo rides. They’re more fun than any transit I’ve used before. Thank you for creating such a miraculous, safe vehicle. Now let’s bring them to the rest of the world!

Love Waymo! Definitely way better than Lyft and Uber! At first, I was hesitant about using the service because I was concerned about the fact there was no human being in the vehicle. I’ve used Waymo about 4or 5 times and love it. You can play music. The seats are soft and comfortable leather you soak right in and it’s just so comfortable and feels like you’re riding on a cloud! Amazing experience! And for those who don’t tip or like to tip Lyft and Uber drivers, this would be great for you!

I was scared at first since I’ve heard so many bad things about this company but I’ve taken it twice now and it was a fine experience. The wait time can be a little bit annoying sometimes takes a little bit long but besides that it was cool I really wish this was in my area where I live though and not just downtown. I’m literally one exit away like so close from being inside of the area they travel because I’m on Northern and 35th Ave. I’m like darn man I could’ve used this instead of Uber Lyft

It works, at least in SF
The prices are often much higher than Lyft or Uber (and none of that money is going to a struggling human driver). But when they aren’t, everything works fine. With no aggressive driving or stupid mistakes, it actually feels safer than an average human driver—although I have no idea if it really is, of course. And all the automated stuff to unlock the ride, etc. all works smoothly. I did have problem finding a volume control to turn up the voice, but that was the only problem.

Perfect for tourists wanting to get around!
Even though we brought our own car to San Francisco, we parked it in a secure garage, and took Waymo around town. It has been so fun! All drivers in the car got a chance to sightsee while the car took us where we needed to go. I thought the prices were comparable or even a bit better than other driving services like a taxi or Uber. I recommend this service 1000%!

Terrible customer service
Attempted to take a ride with my son, only to be notified that children under 8 must have booster seats. This is a reasonable policy, so we exited the vehicle a block later and found alternative transportation. What is not reasonable is the fact that we were still charged for this “ride”. The policy on children is hidden in a “how many people can ride?” section in the FAQ, and is not immediately obvious especially to first-time riders. Buyer beware.

Took my first ride today and must say from downloading the app, getting setup, requesting a car and being picked up happened in about 10 minutes! The ride was great and I felt completely safe. I was able to use and fully understand the app on the first try. Of course, I have Uber and Lyft experience. There were 4 of us in the car and we took 3 rides. The app was seamlessly integrated with both screens in the car. Seatbelts policy is clear after the first ride. The whole experience was exceptional, but it was also the Christmas Day, so light traffic and few pedestrians/bikers. It’d be good to figure out the trunk next time.

The future is here so to speak. I used to be afraid to take Waymo. I would think dude what if it acts up and harms others. Have you not seen any ‘80s action movie? My coworker was like. “you deal with creepy drivers from time to time with Uber. And sometimes you don’t feel like talking. It’s also cheaper than Lyft certain times of the day.” So I was like okay fine. I now have used Waymo ten times! I can’t believe it! It’s amazing! Definitely recommend it.

Safe and slow
The car drove safely and a little bit slowly as would be expected. The car does not take the interstate at this time so rides take a little bit longer. The trip cost was comparable to Uber during the same time. The car was comfortable and clean, and I felt safe in the vehicle. The car was deferential to pedestrians, bicyclists and other traffic. my ride was in San Francisco and cost about $16 to go 4 miles in 16 minutes.

The future of transportation is now!
I’ve been a WayMo One customer for quite a while now, and I really enjoyed the driverless experience. The car I had today was a hybrid car, hopefully more energy efficient than some others, it was quite luxurious (with leather seats), and as I age I look forward to staying independent longer with the opportunity of calling a car so quickly. Great job, and lots of fun to experience!

Great ride.
This was my first ride with Waymo & loved it. Quiet, smooth, no glitches. (It was helpful being with someone who had used Waymo before & knew how to find the car when it arrived at a public location — had to ‘follow the arrow’ and look around the corner as the vehicle won’t arrive exactly where you are if there are a lot of cars around. But now that I know that I should be good to go for many more trips!)

I love Waymo for my work commute!
I share my car with my husband, and Waymo has been such a great option for me to take a car to and from work, especially during the hot Arizona summers. I also love that they are electric cars, so I feel good about my carbon footprint! I think it would be really cool if you could use Waymo as a qualifying expense for a flexible spending account, or they had some sort of employer benefit!

A tourist ride around San Francisco
This was my first time using Waymo. I was interested in see some of the sights. I changed my trip route several time to stop at some place that popped into my mind. It was spontaneous and great fun. The driver was cautious and very observant of changes in the traffic. A ups driver jaywalking, a parked fedex truck all were taken tin stride. The driver changed lanes as needed and even in heavy traffic all went smoothly.

The app is wonky
Something is definitely wrong with the app. I had a ride where the payment didn’t go through and I went through the settings to resolve the payment by recharging my card and when I push recharge it just takes me right back to the beginning. Or the app will just freeze up and it’s like I’m not pushing it at all. I’ve reached out to them via email and they basically told me I need to reach out to my bank? Why when the app is clearly the problem. I’ve tried deleting the app reinstalling it signing out and in again idk what’s wrong.

Poor customer service and not ready to operate
I approached this service with enthusiasm due to my interest in autonomous ride share services. However, my recent experience, being left stranded in San Francisco at 3 am, was disappointing. Despite seeking clarification and support on the matter, the response provided referenced terms and conditions I had agreed to. While I acknowledge the challenges of a product in development, prioritizing customer satisfaction is crucial, particularly for a paid service. Unfortunately, this incident has led me to question the reliability of the service, and I will not be using it again - a shame for a repeated happy customer.

this is so chill, you can just be yourself in the car. I don't think I need to say much more. Also, it drives better than most people and I actually know it won't start speeding randomly which is a big plus. i've put my life in waymos hands multiple times already and I still have not perished. I'm assuming it's safe.

AWESOME FIRST RIDE!
Today, I took my first ride with Waymo. I must admit, I was a little skeptical. However, the ride was so awesome and cool. The only issue was that my pick up was at a dead end so it took the car about 30 to 45 seconds to realize it needed to back up and turn around, other than that it was great and I can’t wait to ride again! Autonomous riding, and driving is the future!!

Doesn’t work
I am in the east valley of Arizona I have seen so many waymo vehicles in my area however the app doesn’t even prompt me to schedule a ride. My options are ride today & it shows the vehicle but only allows me to click on view our service area or to slide over to near you to tell me they will let me know when they are in the area… but it’s the area you cover so I’m Confused -12 stars if I could! Not convenient or conventional. UPDATE: Area is so minimal that it’s still not worth it. Now can use the app but the areas aren’t even relevant. Cool concept but only if your in said specific areas of Phoenix and Chandler.

First ride
Love it. About 20 minutes. The car drove very safe. I was surprised at the end that the car choose to turn right and make a loop so as not to have to turn left on a complicated busy street. Very safe, but I was a little concerned I put in the wrong address! I will definitely use again. A great technology. Amazing. I highly recommend the experience.

Hard to use anything else
Great service, reliable app, control of music, OK pricing. Me and my partner have been taking this on dates ever since I got access. Sometimes surge pricing is more expensive than Lyft, Uber at a given time. Occasionally have had very long wait times (15+ min). These guys will be our go to for a good while until the competition catches up at least.
