I’ve been looking for an easy to use sudoku app and have found it. Was really glad I got to try an online version for free before getting the app. I like that I can “see how I’m doing” before I run into a snag and catch mistakes early on if I choose to. It seems some of the downsides in the other reviews have either been fixed or were user error. The only thing I’d add is to make it easier to erase my penciled in marks. And maybe add in a notes feature. But really, this is a great app and I don’t have any complaints.
I was a bit miffed at first when I saw there was no way to write notes in the blocks. Then I opened the Options menu and found I could add the question mark button to allow me to do it. If there is another way, I haven't figured it out yet, and trying to find it while the clock is ticking is not what I call fun by any stretch. Also, once I entered a number (not a note) into a block, it didn't automatically delete that number from notes within the 3x3 grid, column, or row. I had to do that manually. Granted, if I made a mistake, it saved me from having to redo all my notes, but it did seem to me to be an overall hassle. I guess the other apps I regularly use have spoiled me.
Challenging puzzles, easy to use, but eats the battery
I like the competitive option because it allows me to see if I'm improving. There are two significant problems, however. The first is that when playing the game the time of day and remaining battery life, which are otherwise omnipresent, are not shown. The second is that it consumes so much energy that even when my iPad is plugged in, the amount of battery life remaining decreases, which indicates that it is consuming a large amount of energy; an app that only responds to user input, and maintains a timer should utilize very little energy and the fact that it uses a lot makes me wonder what it is actually doing.
Great game. It would be even better if you fix the question marks so it will always go to the last position regardless of how many numbers you type. The online version does that automatically, but lately the whole puzzle shifts to the center of the screen as soon as you enter a number. On the iPad it means that you cannot see the number bar anymore. Very frustrating issues with an otherwise fun game. Hope you can fix it. Also, it would be helpful if the question mark is farther away from the 5. Hard when you use forefinger and thumb.
I have owned web sudoku on my pc for ten years or more. I always printed puzzles to take with me when I traveled. This is a great app. I am so thankful you have made it possible for me to play it on my IPad. I haven't figured out yet if I can save the puzzles. And free is really great. And look at all the paper I save by not having to print them. Thank you so much.
Easy to work. Good app for play. I would maybe want some other symbols to keep up with some numbers. Say underlining numbers when you deduce their place in a cube line to rule them out in other parts of the line. The only real trouble I have with the app is the credits they give you when you reach certain goals. (Example: solve 10 hard puzzles, receive credits.) Except the credits are not given for A LOT of the goals. But if you really want some help with a sticky puzzle, you can buy some credits to help you out. Great for them. Not so great for you.
I love that this app actually has puzzles that challenge me. A lot of the other ones are too easy even on "expert". I'm really happy with this. The only change I'd like to see is for there to be an option when "penciling" or adding possible numbers that it's different color even if it's only one number. Once you put more than one in it turns green but I'd like the option to turn it green with just one number.
I really like this Web Sudoku. Lots and lots of games, and some are very challenging. I wish there was a different way to handle notes, though. It is a bit awkward to remove numbers from the cells by typing the number you want to remove--it gets confusing, especially when you are trying to make time. Otherwise, very easy to read (that is use) and reliable app. Thanks.
I had never played Sudoku and decided to give it a try. This app really helps a beginner by making it easy to check if the number entered is correct. I am already improving after only a few games. So far it is enjoyable.
I love how easy this app is to use. The only thing I'd like to change would be block out the number(s) that I've already used. Sometimes I forget that there are already nine of a certain number and I end using it again and then I confuse myself. Other than that, I love this sudoku app more than any of the others that I've downloaded.
I tried printing a puzzle from the app but it would not print. I tried uninstalling the app and doing a re install but that didn’t help. Every other app prints fine. Pencil marks could be a little easier. Like maybe another set of numerals specific to pencil marks, rather than having to use a question mark that almost looks like a 7 with my compromised eyes.
I’ve been playing for a few years now and love this app. One question: I have completed several achievements but many others are locked? How do I unlock them? Also, what does one do with the credits earned? Thanks!
This is a fun app, has lots of puzzles. I just think the number entry and the note keeping are a bit awkward. There must be a more intuitive method of number entry. That is the one factor that slows me down - ie I have the solution, or partial solution, and it takes a number of keystrokes to enter that into the puzzle. Simplify it and the game will fly.
Good to have a lot of free puzzles available any time. But need a way to keep track of what I already deduced so I won't have to deduce it again each time I am at that same spot. Sample notes include black out the number that has already used 9 times, Mark each square with the only possible numbers.
I have been working sudoku with Web Sudoku for more than a decade with paper and pencil. I love this app. I can work a sudoku more quickly and get immediate feedback about my solution which reduces the frustration and makes it actually relaxing while still challenging me.
I love this game. It keeps my mind sharp and it has levels for all kind of players. Also you can play it offline and even a print option which proved valuable if you don't have access to a computer. Highly recommended.
This has always been my favorite Sudoku website. The two downsides are that you can’t get your stats per level, and when you use the pencil marks, it puts the numbers in the order you type them rather than in numerical order. Game play is great though, and the level of hints are great too!
You can keep track of multiple numbers in one box if you change the default setting. I love being able to check for my mistakes. I only do the evil puzzles as they are very challenging!
...too much time loss on eliminating numbers in multiplr-number-cells. It would be great if there were an easy button option to switch back and forth from multiple pencil-ins to single, which would automatically knock out the other pencils-ins.
The app is great. The only improvement would be a reset history button. I don’t know how I did it but I had a 7 second puzzle which shewed the whole data stream. I had about 3k in history that was lost.
Pretty Good - no more carrying around 1/2 used books.
I jump right to evil. Was happy to find under options I could put as many numbers into a block. Don’t usually like to do more than 2-3 numbers. When I get stuck - I will print it out and work it that way.
This app provides plenty of boards with the challenge of having no highlights. You have to pay compl the attention and look at all the possibilities without the help of highlighting the numbers in each square.
Would be better if completed numbers were highlighted in the selection section. Also being able to press on one number and seeing that number highlighted in the puzzle would be a bonus.
This app is easy to play and entertaining. The options allow for varied approaches. Only recommendation would be while using multiple numbers, to remove numbers as they are used in other locations of the same the field.
I prefer doing Sudoku online. The paper one sometimes gives the false completion. Love this app, because It ranks how well my time. Also, I like real challenge and this one allows me finish it without giving me hints along the way.
So far it has been great. I like the actual web version just tried the app so far so good. Pleasantly surprised no ads yet! Only have 5 games in but it's fun should have downloaded a long time ago!
Easy to use, multiple levels of difficulty, various options to tailor the game to suit your level of confidence and give you the encouragement you need to progress. Highly recommended.
So far, every puzzle has been solvable, unlike literally every other sudoku app out there. Those others can't even claim to BE sudoku if there are multiple solutions per puzzle, making them impossible to solve with logic.
Good app! I prefer the clean look this web based sudoku provides. Although it would be great if it removed the number from notes once I have used it as a true number.
Nice clean interface. Challenging puzzles. I have other Sudoku programs, but at the highest levels this one generates the most difficult layouts. Which is why I play. Too bad there's not an iphone version.
My favorite two puzzles. iPad W E B S U D O K U And a real Rubiks cube. They keep my brain fresh. My clock for my best time is stuck at 00:00. Can't reset it. It doesn't rate my performance If I fix an error. Too harsh. It's an app - get over yourself. Evil sudoku is hard any way. Game function is flawless. Reset of clock would be nice. The percentage thing - I dont really care. I play for me. You get 3 of 4 for judging me not worthy if use the features of the app to check my progress. And the stuck clock. Although 00:00 is a very good time.
I have played many other Sudoko games. This is the best by far. When I am in a hurry I just play easy. When I want a brain teaser, I play harder puzzles. Great game. I can’t think of a thing to improve.
Sometimes the application is slow to react to the moves. There is no explanation what to do with ‘credits’. Accomplishments don’t make sense for some medals when I have done them they aren’t reflected or explained. It should tell me how I rank even if I made some guesses.
I wish the average time actually worked. If I do better than average, it goes down, but it never goes up. I've fallen asleep while playing, and the average didn't change.
Great game! Works well! Not sure how the credits work. Would be nice if a number would grey out when you've used it in all 9 cells. Happy to have so many puzzles to play!
I just recently started playing Sudoku and am enjoying it especially with this app which is easy to use. It is great as is although I understand why some have mentioned wanting other marking symbols.
Unless you upgrade to premium, the games repeat in a 4 or 5 game sequence. But unless you have a photographic memory (I don’t) it can still be challenging.
