Highly recommend!!

I have found amazing volunteer opportunities with free accommodation, which have been great learning experiences. Very grateful for Workaway and would recommend it to any budget traveler or a person looking to gain more hands-on experience in a field they’re interested in!

They Don't Take Reports of Racism Seriously...

I had an experience where the host turned out to be blatantly racist, and when I reported her profile, an investigation was never launched and I actually never even received a response from Workaway. She ended up leaving me a lower review (even though I would do extra work on top of a full day's work and go out of my way to be respectful as I was consistently being disrespected) and the only response I received from the Help Desk was that "reviews can't be changed once they're left". So, while unjust, my account will remain with that lower rating forever, and I've already had hosts decline me because of it. My case is also not the only one - I've head stories like this from others as well. Don't take it from me though - I would recommend doing your own research... At this point, my best option is to delete my account, and the membership fee is not refundable.

Good, but.....

I have this app downloaded on my iPhone as well as my iPad Pro. My only critical feedback is that the App does not rotate from Portrait to Landscape with the rotation of the device. I am a vision impaired person and the ability to better see, type on my iPad is compromised by the lack of this particular feature. Is this capability something that can be added? I would rate this at 5 stars if it was. Thanks!

Host Don’t Download App

I have hosted several workers and this app is meant for work in exchange for stay and exploring, well this app does not let host get help in small businesses it will cancel your profile and tell you to hire locally, this is a workaway app isn’t, it has the word work in their name, so pls hosts with Businesses to run avoid making a profile on this nonsense app and workers don’t look for work here you will not get paid for any host on here. Waste of time effort and money for workers. Move to work packers they know what they are doing

Could be good, but...

Unfortunately this app could be a great travel-networking app, but it ends up being just an exploitative experience. Working five hours a day, five days a week, often leaves the traveler without much time to do anything that is fun. The exception is when you get a host particularly good at taking their workawayers for local hikes, events and to nearby attractions as part of the schedule. But most f the time its just a person or business who wants to get free labor and push you along out the door as soon as they aren't. You have to really get a good host invested in making it a balanced experience, which in seven months of being a member and actively using the app, I've found 1 out of every 7 hosts actually are going to make it a good experience. So be careful, rate often, and choose wisely.

Awesome Website, Even Better App

WorkAway has become my key to traveling the world at a fraction of the cost that it would for most people. The site has been great to use, but the app is even cleaner and makes searching for hosts and navigating all the functions even smoother. Love it lotsa!!

Must choose a Country?

From what I can tell, there’s no way to search without choosing a location. A significant bummer because I find my next destination by discovering great opportunities that match my interests. I’ve found myself in some pretty unexpected places this way, and been the better for it. I wish you could do a worldwide search based on skills, language, setting, etc. As it is, this app is pretty useless for me.

Terrible ID verification system

I’ve been looking for opportunities farther than a month out and everything’s full. Hosts who have profiles saying they have availability all text back saying they’re full. The ID verification system wouldn’t accept my passport nor my license. It is frustrating and feels futile. I wish I hadn’t paid the $60 for us to use this app. It’s a nice idea though.

Great App BUT…

Great App but instead of connecting you to the website when clicking on menus, build it into the app so it doesnt always refer you to another webpage to the certain menu.

Excellent app

Having a great time using the WorkAway app- very easy to use, simplifies a lot of things. Love the “map” feature while searching for my next destination

Awesome so far

App is easy and a lot of choices! Only downside is sometimes the app will glitch and wont let me click on certain tabs.

Decent platform, dysfunctional app

Workaway is a good service to find volunteering gigs abroad. However the app has been barely working for me for the last couple months. The only reason I am writing this review is that the tech support would start fixing the app.

They stole my money

They have fake offers and inactive hosts to catch people to pay their membresy. They ask a very expensive fee to apply, I paid for it because they had 4 great opportunities. Just one of the hosts responded to say they were not hiring people because of covid. I asked my money back and they say it’s not possible.

Very disappointed

I have several friends who use this app, and I don’t know what’s going on, but it will not let me create a profile or create an account. I don’t know if this is a glitch in the app or if there’s a completely different way to sign up that is just not known.

Cool website, bad app

I love using Workaway to find places to travel, but the app is really bad. It’s super frustrating to use. It has a ton of glitches, bad filters for looking for places and overall hard to use.

Worst service

I definitely met best people here but customers service. I’m transgender guy and I prefer to make more ladies friend as my travel buddy, so mostly I talk with ladies and I got warning saying that..avoid taking with only female member this is not dating site, when I explained about my situation they terminated..

Love the Organization But Not the App

Needs improvement. Trying to select hosts, links not working. Should be able to find someone in your area as a traveling buddy. Otherwise what’s the point?

I’m a verified member. I use the website with no problems all the time. But every time I try to login on the App, I fail to login. This has been going for months now. FIX IT for God’s sake.

Blank screens

I was so excited to find the app, but it gives me a blank screen 60% of the time when I click on a host. Guess I’ll stick to my PC.

Paid and disappointed in options and process

TrustedHouseSitters is so much better. Was hoping to switch gears for a stay in CA and volunteer. Slim pickings. The app is not good. A huge waste of money.

I'm 56 and so excited to find this app!

I'm almost as excited to find this app as I am finding the Workaway.info website! It's such a wonderful opportunity, to work 5 hours/day and be able to stay and eat in Europe (or elsewhere), for free! I would've died and gone to heaven to have had such an opportunity in my 20s!! Young people these days have many issues & battles... but they're also blessed with amazing opportunities like this! On a side note, going on the app, where there are no ads!

Gran herramienta, la app podria ser mejor

A traves de workaway podes alojarte en muchas partes del mundo mediante intercambio de trabajo, lo que es una excelente idea y maravillosa herramienta. Igualmente, creo que podrian exigir mas especificidad sobre el tipo y las horas de trabajo que pide cada anfitrion, asi como lo que ofrece respecto de comida, alojamiento y tiempo libre. Muchos anfitriones se vuelven muy exigentes y se olvidan de que estan alojando unx voluntarix, no unx empleadx con goce de sueldo. Tambien con respecto a algo mas urgente, cuando se le envia un mensaje a unx anfitrionx, desde el mismo mensaje deberia ser posible redirigirse a la solicitud, asi podemos recordar con quien estamos hablando. Cuando alguien que viaja se quiere poner en contacto don dos o tres personas que son anfitrionas en el lugar de destino, se olvida de quien representa qué lugar, y se genera mucha confusion. Gracias.

Don’t waste your money on it. Such a scam.

The fact that hosts register for free and backpackers have to “pay” to sign up for this platform to work for hosts for free is already a goddamn unfairness. Useless platform, full of entitled and racist hosts. Honestly, I shouldn’t have even signed up, one of my biggest regrets. Such a waste of money.
