Version 8 is a step back
Why mess with what works... I used 1Password 7 for a long time and loved it. Version 8 was released and broke so many things, it's a case study in frustrating your users by not leaving good enough alone. Since the version 8 upgrade the Safari extension is constantly asking me to enter my password (version 7 was happy with my touch ID). I get random errors I have never seen before, like "Unable to save" when trying to save a new login, clicking the "Use suggested password" item but it is unresponsive and nothing happens... They also removed a feature I LOVED and used daily: holding alt/option while looking at an item revealed the password - gone in version 8. I wish I could go back to version 7, and I am not the type of person who wants thing to stay the same, I love changes and improvements but from where I stand, I gained nothing from version 8 but lost reliability and functionality I used to love about 1PW. I am only not looking to switch because their successful vendor lock-in. I am too deep into the 1PW ecosystem (installed everywhere) and leaving it behind would cause even more pain than this miserable downgrade they call "version 8".

Terribly unreliable on Safari
The Chrome version of 1Password works fairly well, but I have daily issues with 1Password in Safari. This usually manifests itself as a disconnection from the desktop app, where you try to fill a user/password, 1Password asks you to unlock, and then the Safari extension hangs. Sometimes it will say that it needs to reload to reconnect. At this point it does seem like it reconnects to the 1Password desktop app, but the dropdown in user/password fields won't show without restarting Safari. But there are other annoying persistent bugs as well. Any kind of form autocomplete will battle it out with 1Password. So if the extension thinks that it should try to populate an address field that wants to autocomplete your address (i.e. you start typing your address and it uses Google to try to autocomplete for you), then the 1Password drop-downs will compete for this spot. That's annoying. The most annoying one, though, is competition with Safari's built-in SMS/email OTP autocomplete or just generic email fields. I want to retain the option in Safari to generate a unique email address for a site, so I need that function enabled, but 1Password steps on the Safari drop-downs every time. 1Password team, please, fix this extension. I love 1Password. When I spun up a company, I chose 1Password for our org of 30 people. You can do better.

I like the new version
I have been using 1Password since 2014 and just upgraded from version 6, so the new version, though somewhat different, has been a much smoother experience for me. I resisted upgrading, especially after reading some of the negativity here, but I liked that I didn't have to dump my old version 6 app and data to upgrade, so I felt confident I could go back if something went wrong or I was simply unhappy with the new version. To my surprise, the migration process from 6 was easy (though I did have to download version 7 first, but still not a big deal). I realized that Dropbox was having a hard time connecting to my devices regularly, so consequently, I often was missing new passwords if they hadn't been synced. That no longer is the case since everything just syncs flawlessly! Plus, I love that y'all are taking the time to respond to all of the comments. I'm sure the complications will get worked out, but if you aren't coming from version 7 directly, 8 is a no-brainer!

A formerly great product falls by the wayside
Like many (and perhaps the majority) I used 1PW for many years. I always appreciated how well it worked and how the company had previously committed to a stand-alone product, knowing that we are all getting sick and tired of subscription software. I was a truly loyal customer--I paid for all upgrades and recommended the product. But Version 8 is as bad as others have said, it forces you into a subscription, and the Safari extension seems less intuitive and functional. Because the competitors also trap us with subscriptions, it's hard to know if it is worth switching, but I may do so simply because of my extreme disappointment. There is still a free version from Dashlane and that may be sufficient. I know there will be a developer "response" but it will be a boilerplate reply that will follow this (as it has followed all other reviews) might as well be a bot. Another once customer-focused company and product has sadly disappeared.

Unreliable and non-performant [updated]
How I miss the 1Password 7 days, when both the client and the Safari extension worked quickly, seamlessly and reliably. I've been struggling with the "new & improved" version to the point where I've now had to disable the Safari extension and gone back to copying and pasting from the 1Password client app. When it was enabled, half the time passwords wouldn't populate and the other half it would take so long to see the options that it was quicker to just open the client, search for the password, copy and paste. AgileBits, this is a paid subscription. Please make it worthwhile again. [Update] I've been working with AgileBits Support and they have been helpful in diagnosing that the issue is specific to Safari. Apparently, this requires Apple's cooperation to resolve. I've been provided with an interim workaround, which is manual but it works. Upgraded to 3 starts for the support experience (which is 5-star), but cannot in good conscience recommend this extension given its ongoing performance issues.

Pease get this fixed! Safari Etension/Destop broken UPDATED
After reading the 1-star review by Falconbrad from Mar 25, I can't see much improvement at this time. The Safari extension does not intereact with the desktop app (all OS and apps up-to-date) at all. For some apps, the desktop v8 app will try to inject my MacOS e-mail address when I have a perfectly good login for that app (with a different e-mail login address). The problems seem to have been getting worse. I consider 1Password to be an essential app, and I really need it to work reliable and predictably. At the moment it does not. UPDATE: The latest 1Password for Safari extension update solved the issues I was having with communication between the main app and the extension. Still having issues with 1P adding my AppleID e-mail address to a particular login (Peacock) instead of the one I use to login, but they are working on this. I will revisit when this is resolved, but yeah, generally speaking its working better than ever.

Works just as well as it always has
First of all, I'm a long-term user since around 2010 when I got the first Macbook Air. I've always recommended 1Password to my friends and family who use Macs, and in the past few years, have only been more enthusiastic with my recommendations since the integration with FaceID / TouchID, and support for 2FA codes makes it a pretty dang seamless experience to use everywhere - mobile or on my laptop/desktops. I recently upgraded my devices to 1Password 8, and I'm not sure what's with all the 1Password hate on the various App Stores. There's a new user interface, which to me seems like an improvement. I noticed some of my old keyboard shortcuts weren't working, or maybe I just didn't know the correct shortcuts in the first place, but once I looked these up (they vary for different browsers), I'm not having any issues. Shift Command Space to search globally or Shift Command . (period) to search with the extension on Firefox. I haven't experienced any data loss or other issues. Only improvement I can imagine would be if Apple allowed Hide My Email to be used by third-party app developers, and 1Password were to enable that feature when creating accounts. I know there is a similar service offered through fastmail, but I personally don't want to pay for another service when I already pay for 1Password, iCloud, and a bunch of other stuff.

In every way inferior to 1Password 7.
I've been a 1Password user for years now and until this upgrade, I've never had any complaints with 1Password; it always just worked, consistently and intuitively, and was among the few applications I used that I'd consider beloved technology. However, the 1Password 8 update is a complete disappointment and I dread having to use it. Everything that used to work simply and intuitively now either no longer works or no longer does what it used to. Double-clicking the login used to open it in the most-recent browser; it now only pops up a useless floating window. "Open and fill" is no longer a default behavior. Safari integration is pathological at best; "Open and fill" sometimes reuses the most recent browser window, but sometimes opens a new one. It never, however, fills; requiring that the credentials be copied and pasted manually. Every interaction with 1Password 8 is an exercise in frustration. I'm uncomfortable suggesting a previous version of a security-critical application, but I can't in good conscience suggest version 8.

Version 8 is a dysfunctional train wreck!
Oh dear! AgileBits, you really have to take a long hard introspective look at yourselves on version 8 release – what on earth are you doing?! Just to echo the *many* comments here, version 8 is a complete disaster and not even a ‘minimally viable product’. I’m a long-time user and until v.8 strong advocate of 1Password, but v.8 is a train wreck. I’ve spent 20 years in technology related Product Management roles. This unfortunately (and I’ve been there so can sympathize) is a classic case of what I call ‘Product Tinkerfication’ – the constant pressure to ‘upgrade’ and change. In part due to job justification motivations from Product and Design teams, but ultimately and fundamentally a leadership issue. Sometimes, keeping things simple and functional is fine and the right thing to do for your customers. This experience reminds me of Evernote. Originally an awesome product that crushed it on simple note taking tasks, but after multiple ‘tinkerfication’ cycles and upgrades later, it’s a shadow to its former self with A customer experience and what I originally wanted.

Needs to go back into the oven for awhile
I've been a paying user of 1Password since 2008, and this is the first time I've been compelled to downgrade back to the old version. (1Password 7, in this case.) I have no plans to abandon the product, and I'm sure version 8 will eventually be up to par, but I'm not willing to wait when I don't have to. I tried the new one for about a month. I felt like that was a fair shake. The dealbreaker with version 8 is that I can't find any rhyme or reason as to when it's going to ask for my Master Password. I unlock it the first time, and then it will ask me for it again multiple times over the the course of the day. I've checked the settings over and over, and everything looks like it should, but it keeps happening. I did a fair bit of googling and futzing with it and finally gave up. The "solution" I'm going with is to use Version 7, which works (and always has worked) great!

What Happened?
I must echo many of the sentiments here. I've been a user for over a decade and have always recommend 1Password to friends. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out the justification for so many UI changes and bugs. It really seems like a case of changing stuff for change's sake and not for improving the user experience. Lately, I feel like I have to re-learn the UI with every update. What happened to a readily available password generator?? Now it's buried underneath a series of additional windows and clicks. The "Use Suggested Password" function doesn't always work (especially with Safari) and also with sites that require specific naming conventions. Also, the auto-fill bubbles always block the fields on websites so I never know what I'm actually entering if I have to type something. Please stop monkeying with the UI. It was already awesome!

Broken again. I give up.
Like many other reviewers here, I am a longtime 1P user, since version 3. For a company that was 100% Mac focused to allow their product to fail so dismally on Safari just blows my mind. I give their support staff credit for valiantly trying to help, but they can't fix a fundamentally broken product. The latest of many issues I have encountered with the Safari version: TouchID broken. Even though the 1P app is open, unlocked, and working with other browsers, it remains locked on Safari - demanding that I enter my very long password to unlock it. I have to copy/paste my 1P password from the 1P app to the 1P Safari extension. What a joke! Following the recommendation from support, I disabled the integration between the app and the extension, restarted both, re-enabled the integration, and guess what? Nothing happened. Still broken. Still shows a message "Problems connecting. Please make sure the 1Password app is unlocked." Thanks guys. It's open, unlocked, and updated to the latest version. What's your excuse now? Although it works reliably on Chrome, Firefox and Edge, I only use those browsers for specific tasks, and I don't trust their built-in password managers, so 1P is a solution there. But so are many other products such as Bitwarden. But now that passkeys are becoming standard, and Apple has improved their built-in password manager, I'm switching.

Hoping you will revert to what works...
Have been using 1Password for years. Used to love the small browser extension that allowed quick & easy access to all my passwords. And especially loved that 1Passwood was not trying to mine my brwosing history. Well...I just forced to download v8 in order to still have access to my favorite extension....only the extension no longer gvies me the quick & easy access i was looking for. The only way it operates is to give 1 Password access to my browsing history so that it can populate my passwords themselves. This doesnt work! You made me pay for your services. You can't now further monetize by gathering my data! Giving 3 stars in the hope you will revert fast to what so many people trust you to do. Otherwise you will soon be one more user down, reminiscing of wonderful functionality that used to be

Works fine, seems to have a memory leak
This works just as well as the Safari integration in 1Password 7 did. I think what a lot of people are complaining about is the 1Password 8's new auto-fill behavior, which isn't as accurate as 1Password 7's. Just using the extension (clicking vs. keyboard shortcuts) works fine. That said, it appears to have a memory leak. If Safari is left on a page that auto-refreshes every so often with this extension active and 1Password 8 installed/running, that page will use more and more memory until Safari has to kill the tab. This didn't happen with the 1Password 7 extension, and doesn't happen with the 1Password 8-compatible extensions for Firefox and Edge. This is unfortunately a dealbreaker for me at the moment, so I'm stuck on 1Password 7. I've reported it to AgileBits support, so hopefully we'll get a fix.

It used to be great
I've been using 1Password for at least 10 years. Until version 8, they were getting better with every new release. Lately, it is just awful. I used to be able to quickly view a password with Alt/Option. There used to be an option to save a password when filling out a form online. Apple's password manager isn't necessarily better as it seems that Apple and 1Password are constantly fighting to provide a strong password. When Apple wins, 1Password doesn't save the password. The app is also not as smooth as it used to be. Every so often I have to quick and reopen. It will lock, unlock, and lock again. I hope version 9 goes back to being something better. If not, I'll be on the lookout for something better for my team.

UPDATED REVIEW
You may see my previous review below. UPDATE one week later: Support representative K**** answered my review with an offer to assist sending a checklist of things to check in the myriad of settings we are all blessed and plagued to decipher. It was straight forward. After seeing that I had elected to turn off “auto-login”, I turned it on. The issue was resolved. It renewed my confidence in 1Password and the team that builds it. I changed 4 Stars to 5. “Software is hard.” - just about anyone who uses or build software. Previous Feedback Version 8 is a step back. The Safari extension is frustrating. After being convinced the "open 1P twice" bug was fixed, it has returned despite numerous system cleaning and re-installing. I will continue to stick with 1P until I get a new machine and upgrade from MacOS 12 to OS14. If that does not fix this bug, it will be time to reconsider moving on to another password manager. Four stars was generous. Thank you for the previous years of convenience. Early adopter and super-user and fan for years, sadly reporting, Tim D.

WOW... So awful
What in the world? Unable to do anything! I spent an entire day stuck in a loop where my 2 factor auth had been disabled, yet to disable it, I had to login to 1password... which just asked me to authenticate with the external 2 factor system! I had to recover my account to be able to do anything! This new version is a disaster. There is ZERO SUPPORT (I'm still waiting for a reply to emails and forum posts from 48 hours ago! Imagine if I needed to access a healthcare account or attend to some other emergency requiring a password!). This is a hot disaster. I think the company is finally feeling the squeeze from the big tech companies password management tools. I will NOT continue to pay for this garbage... read all the reviews. This app on any Apple platform is amateur hour! The extension won't even open for me, it's incredible how inept and half-hazard this product is for something I pay for!

Buggy
Update: The Safari extension has been just 100% non-functional for the past week. Tried reinstalling, etc. Actively looking for alternatives. This is so incredibly buggy, it feels like it just gets worse month by month. Usually it takes anywhere between one and twenty seconds to show your password dropdown in an input box, that is if it shows at all. Sometimes you need to restart the app, or restart Safari. This has been an issue for YEARS, across many devices and generations of devices. The new version is worse too. t's probably the most unpredictable and unreliable service I use on my Mac, which is crazy because I'm a programmer and use lots of beta software. And this is a paid product I buy for my company, so that's embarassing. It might finally be time to switch to iCloud or a competitor, it's just wasting too much time at this point.

Used 1Password for Years, left and now back
I have tested many password managers and used 1password for around 4 years until the newest update came out. After some struggles with the new update I switch over to another very popular and simular password keeper, overall the ease of use 1password had and the same type glitch's the new app gave me i decided to come back and give 1pass another try. I can say this, there is no more glitchy parts that i experienced prior, using it is fluid and solid on Macs, IOS and Windows and has all the bells and whistles I could want that come with an easy flow. Glad to see 1password works so well for me again.

Consistently Broken on Safari
I've been a very long time user of 1Password and continue to do so, but need to warn potential new users who own Macs and use Safari that they can expect the browser extension to fail to work on every system reboot, and also seemingly at random. The issues are so bad and chronic that the 1Password app has a menu item to "fix the Safari extension". Of course, it doesn't do anything most of the time. My observations are based on years of using 1Password on Mac. Repeatedly 'fixing the Safari extension', restarting the app, unlocking the app, restarting the browser, etc. is all just part of the package. I do hope the devs will conquer whatever issues area making it so difficult to produce a stable extension for Safari.

Subscription bloat
I'm an avid user since the software came out, first buying the version upgrades then subscribing. Unfortunately 1Password has succumbed to the "feature-itis" that happens to many apps when they convert to a subscription model; they feel they need to constantly add features to justify the ongoing cost. 1Password is now a reasonably competent vault for your sensitive info with an eye-burningly painful UI; and a password-filler for your browser that is markedly *worse* than just using Safari password management. The new passkey implementation is much the same; setting up and using passkeys takes longer than just doing it natively in Safari. I've stopped using 1Password to fill passwords entirely, and I hope that Dave and his team will take all the poor reviews to heart.

1Password: From Hero to Zero
I've been a loyal 1Password fan for years. Their security was top-notch, the interface was clean, and it always "just worked." Sadly, the latest version has been the biggest disappointment of my tech-using life. Migration Mayhem Upgrading to the new 1Password was like navigating a labyrinth designed by an angry toddler. My data was jumbled, vaults were inexplicably split, and half my passwords seemed to vanish into the ether. I spent hours wrestling with import/export tools, only to end up more frustrated. Glitches Galore The new app itself is a buggy mess. Autofill fails half the time, login forms don't recognize it, and the interface stutters and freezes like it's running on a 10-year-old laptop. Even the core functionality of generating strong passwords feels clunky and slow. The Great Betrayal 1Password used to be the reliable guardian of my online life. Now, it feels like an overpriced, underperforming stranger that can't even get the basics right. I'm not just disappointed; I'm genuinely concerned about trusting them with my most sensitive data. In Summary... Avoid this update at all costs if you value your sanity and the safety of your passwords. 1Password, you've broken my heart, and potentially my online security.

Broken Safari Integration
1Password is now a case study on how NOT to do product management, unless your goal is to ruin a once legendary product. But I digress--the long-term UI changes are a big annoyance, but that's not the pressing problem. The immediate problem is the broken support for Safari. Once I moved up to 1Password 8, its Safari integration broke. Download 1Password for Safari in the App Store. Run it. And it prompts you for the install — step 1 is a button for “Open Safari Preferences”. Clicking it does…nothing! Okay, so going to Safari and opening preferences manually, the remaining instructions no longer work either. Under Extensions, 1Password doesn’t even show up anymore. Works fine on every other browser on my system — which includes Firefox, Brave, and Edge. Plan B — I deleted the 1Password for Safari application, sending to Trash from the Applications folder. Downloaded anew and tried again. Same problem. I suppose I can also try deleting 1Password itself and then reinstalling. But honestly, it’s getting annoying at this point. Weeks after 1Password 8 was released, these problems still persist.

User since 2009. This is awful.
I can't even get the extension to install in Safari. Saw another reviewer say to close Safari and in the app go to help>troubleshooting>fix missing Safari extension. I do that and literally nothing happens. Not even an error. Between this, and the weirdness of the ios app (many saved edits won't commit, saving an edited password through Watchtower immediately backs you all the way out to the recommended list but the entry is no longer a problem in Watchtower so it's not there...but I need to copy the password into the website to change it there so I have to search for the password. Just let me edit a password and take me back to the entry screen, not all the way back!), I am seriously wondering if after 13 years it's time to move on. I hear iOS keychain is pretty good.

Version 8 is garbage
I used one password for years and years. A great product that was simple and functioned with almost no glitches. I was dismayed when it went to a subscription model, seemed like a greedy grab for a company that was already charging for updates. Version 8 is awful. It never works. Even more frustrating is that it never doesnt work the same way. EG sometimes the browser plugin works, sometimes not, sometimes quick access works, sometimes not. So you end up going through multiple steps to login. The old version worked from the browser every time. 9/10 times in new version I end up having to launch the app and cut and paste. This is classic bloatware that forgot what it's basic purpose is. To simply and easily manage passwords.

Used to be great, now it's adequate
1Password used to be an app that I raved about to friends and family. But what started as slow decline in quality around the web extensions with 1Password 6 has culminated with iPassword 8. There are so many little annoyances, that just pile up, ensuring that the experience that you have using the app is simply adequate, and no longer great. I still use 1Password because it is an integral part of my life and I'm reluctant to switch to a competitor, but hopefully there will be a compelling solution on the marketplace soon. Maybe Apple will beef up it's own password storing capabilities and I'll make the switch to Keychain. 1Password used to be truly great, and now it's simply adequate.

v8 is pretty terrible
Ever since the transition to v8 the safari extension is practically unusable. You cannot get it to auto-populate username/passwords within the field, you cannot get it to reliably generate a password and then save it to the new login, it will not reliably auto-fill even when clicking from the menubar. I am confused how this ever made it through QA testing. Also, why does it open the full 1password window when I create a new login? v7 it did it all in the browser, v8 is making using 1password such a chore. If it was free I would have little to complain about, but I am a *formerly happy* paying customer. It is very frustrating, not sure what other options there are to improve this? I hate to say it but v7 worked 95% of the time, v8 works about 5% of the time. Are ya'll working on fixing this?

It won't give you options for local vault
It won't display any of your local vault's passwords. I've been a user of 1Password since the first version. The founder promised they would always support local vaults. With this new policy the integrity and credibility of the company is dubious. 1Password version 8 migrates all your passwords to their cloud. There is no longer support for local vaults, iCloud or Dropbox cloud either. In other words, 1Password now owns your data given that you have no choice but to move it to their servers which they fully control. I'm a hybrid user, meaning I have the license to run desktop version which supports local vaults for those passwords I must kept in my local storage. I also have the subscription which allows me to share vaults with others but those passwords must be place in the cloud. It is quite dissapointing to hear version 8 no longer supports local storage and the company doesn't make this clear enough in their latest release. So beware when you 'migrate' from version 7 to version 8. You are not migrating your data from one app to the other. You are migrating it from your local storage to their storage.

Extension ver 2.7.0 does not work on Safari Technology Preview
After the extension stopped working for me in Safari Technology Preview (it works on standard Safri and in other browsers), I reached out to the company via their forums. After more than week's delay, with no response, I was told to communicate to tech support. Tech support acknowledged that the problem is theirs, not mine. That was 30 days ago. Two versions of the extension have been released since the problem began--but not with a fix for this. I've been using 1Password for more than 10 years and have evangelized their products for as long. I'm super happy for Agile's recent financial windfalls, but it's disapointing (and a troubling sign) that it has seemingly translated into such poor customer service and development practices/agendas/priorities.

Made my 1PW experience worse (v8)
The prompt to auto-save new or updated logins doesn't appear for me reliably anymore, even when I have the desktop app opened and unlocked. Admittedly, I think if I had the browser button visible and unlocked 1PW that way, it MIGHT work. But I don't allow any browser buttons in my Safari, and I know I didn't have to interact with 1PW this way prior to the v8 update. Anyway, while possibly an easy "fix," I shouldn't need to visually compromise my overall browsing experience (by adding a button) for a feature I use a couple of times a week at most. Especially when I have a global keyboard shortcut enabled. 1PW team—I appreciate the hard work you put into your app, but please re-consider and improve your user-experience implementation.

Save your money, go elsewhere.
Long time user of 1Password. I actually tried to get support using the instructions in the App, via Help -> Feedback and Support, but alas, it's just a cruel joke. Need support? Good luck. There is nobody to call or write. Instead, go to a forum where you're not allowed to post. The entire 1Password ecosystem is now terrible and is entirely geared towards vendor lock-in garbage. It's obvious they are trying to cash in on enterprise users, not the home or power users they once targeted. Need to actually use your logins? Get VERY used to opening up the app and copying and pasting all of your credentials (assuming the website allows it). Do you love autosubmitting the wrong password and locking out your account? 1Password is your tool. Have password token logins? They don't work with 1Password. Want to use them anyhow? You'll be messing it up in short order when it "accidentally" changes your password. Unlike the many other reviewers, regardless of how deep in the eco-system I've gotten, I think it's time to unwind this mess and go back to a solution that works. I would recommend Post-it notes on your monitor before 1Password.

It's different from 7, but 8 is awesome!
It was hard trying to wrap my brain around having a separate app for safari using 1PW 8, but once it's set up it's great. It took a little bit to get famimliar with 8-- things moved, layout looks different, etc but once I got over that hump, I love it. It now looks and works the same across platforms and the 2FA implementation is excellent. I'm guessing most unfavorable reviews really stem from the subcription pricing, but I think it's a good deal and necessary for contiuned developent/support. 1PW 8 is great, I can't imagine my computer life without it!

Barely works
I like 1Password but this extension generally fails. Most of the time the icon in the text box doesn't do anything, you cant click it or get it to show your items, you have to open the desktop app most of the time. It acts as a separate app from the desktop meaning you have to sign into this in safari and the desktop app on the same computer and they need you to sign back in at different times so it adds a new level of annoyance to signing in. Some of the time clicking the icon in the top bar will result in some oddball error like 'no internet' or 'cant reach 1password servers'. I keep hoping for an update that actually fixes any of this so I can use the desktop app less but disappointed each time I try it out.

Their support team is amazing
I have to say many of the product's fundamentals like predictive pre-fill and authentication need work. It's gotten less and less intuitive to use, and I'm not sure if that's because y'all have so many platforms to support or are busy working on other revenue streams like DevOps secrets, but it's led a long time customer to consider other options. But the team is crushing it and I'm sticking around for another year. Switching costs are high and who knows if LastPass is better. Thanks for caring support team. Your friend, me.

A good product wrecked in the current version
Even after reading and applying the suggestions given to previous reviewers, the Safari extension is worthless. I would return to v.7 if I could. The v 8 extension seldom suggests the correct website, autofil rarely works, the "pin" option is gone which means I have to open the extension once for the email and then a second time for the password (using cut and paste each time), and in additon I often have to run a search for the correct website again. One thing the developers have been unwilling to accept is that if these probelms are due to users' not following the correct steps, then why didn't this happen in v.7? I suggest that if the users are at fault, then the required workflow is unintuitive. Whether the problems are bugs or an unintiutive user interface, the extension should be returned to v.7 until the interface is fixed. The standard application that resides in its own window is fine, but does not contain any meaningful enhancements, just a different layout. My recommendation for users is to stay with v7 until you see consistently positive reviews.

works great
I hesitated to install this after upgrading to 1password8 after reading all the negative reviews, but finally broke down because having autofill passwords on safari is a vital functionality. I am concerned about the privacy policy (access to data on websites and browsing history), but don't how an app like this could possibly work without it. The bigger question was whether it would work. It does. I have had ZERO issues after using it for a week. I'll come back here and update my review if I do.

Please fix this!
When the extension works, it's great. But it seems every time I wake my computer up after an extended period, the extension stops responding, i.e. it doesn't fill any fields on any website. If I go to the butotn in the Safari toolbar, it prompts me to enter my password. When I do, the icon that appears in the toolbar and field no longer has a little lock picture, which suggests the password worked. But it still doesn't fill any fields, i.e. I click on the field on the page and no response; I click on the icon in the field and no response; I click on the icon in the toolbar and it displays a pop-up with a button to open 1Password, but when I click the button, nothing happens. This has been going on for months!

everything was wonderful with Version 7 - this version 8 is broken
Like other reviewers here I'm also a big fan of 1Password and Version 7 was flawless, effortless. The best thing is that I never had to think about passworkds or a password manager - it was that invisible. Enter Version 8 - it just doesn't work. I've had to uninstall, reinstall, reinstall the browsers apps because passwords just don't automatically fill, or, worse yet, the browser app hangs. It does work... just sometimes. I'm frustrated and don't know why this previously perfect environment needed to be changed. If this doesn't get fixed soon then I will be forced to change password managers after over a decade with 1Password - something I really don't want to do

Inconsistent Product
I have two Macs with the exact same Safari configurations and macOS versions. On the MacBook Pro 1Password 8 works perfect in Safari. One the MacBook Air, the extension will never unlock. I have followed all the troubleshooting steps, including deleting and reinstalling. Now luck, as soon as I click the "Unlock" button I get a spinner wheel for second then the "Unlock" button returns. The 1Password 8 appllcation is unlocked during this problem. Wish I didn't upgrade from 1Password 7. Never had an issue with the old version. Microsoft Edge works perfectly with the 1Password extension on the same MacBook Air. Frustrating.

The safari extension remains unlocked after its initial unlock process!
This is a terrible extension, as once you unlock it by opening the main app (annoying itself) it remains open unless you manually lock it by right clicking the safari icon. Hence, anyone who sat down at the computer with safari still open could access all of your passwords by simply clicking on the extension, unless you right click and lock it manually. Then when you want to access your passwrods in safari you have to again unlock the main app, go back to safari and search for the passwrod oyu are interested in. Then lock manually it if you don't want anyone looking at all of your passwords. Just terrible! I want version 7 back!

As bad as they say...
There was so much complaining about the new 1Password 8 when it first came out that I held off on upgrading. I figured it made sense to let things settle down, let a few improvements happen, and then surely things would be better. I recently upgraded to version eight on both my iOS devices and my Macs. sadly, when password eight is as bad as they say, especially on Macs. I have used 1Password since version 1. Through 7 versions it got better and better, even with hiccups along the way. With version 8, they have ruined everything. In a bid to have a single codebase on every platform and to satisfy their private equity and corporate overlords, the app has lost so much functionality. 1Password 8 is like an alpha version concept app. I guess we’ll have to wait for 1Password 15 to get back what we had with version 7. I wish I had never bought into 1Password, because at this point it’s so hard to extricate all my data. But I’m going to try. If you’re not using 1Password now, I’d advise looking elsewhere and don’t make the mistake of getting stuck in it.

What Happened?
I've been using 1Password for years and eagerly/annoyingly telling others to do the same. I don't know what went wrong with 1Password 8. Nothing works correctly anymore. I'm writing this review after the "Use Suggested Password" popup completely stopped working. I used to be able to fill in a password field with a keyboard shortcut -- now that only *sometimes* works. There are sites where you have to tab into a field before 1Password will work. I assume that a lot of this lost functionality is the result of 1Password 8 attempting to work system-wide. I wish they had stuck to browser only support with global keyboard shortcuts to look up other passwords and copy/paste. This is a huge step back.

this is frustrating
I am a long-term user of 1password, who would have given this five stars six months ago. But now it is broken..broken...broken... Periodically (maybe after a safari auto-update?), the Safari extension disappears. And it can't be reinstalled without searching various forums and trying "hacks" to get it back. This problem has been around for a while now, but hasn't been fixed. There are lots of people on the forums who've discussed it, and I don't have time for reading the forums anymore... I pay for a whole team and family on 1password, and have been paying for years. I need it to work and to stop wasting my time. If/when they fix the problem, I'll up my rating.

Quick Access is a joy to use!
The browser extension is meh and bloated but the spotlight-like 1p mini is incredible. I was annoyed at losing all my favorite features from the extension and even left terrible reviews. However, that led me to use Quick Access into my workflow and it has been slow but amazing. Kudos on that. I am still annoyed that 1P have been absolutely terrible with onboarding. They've relocated so many of my frequently used features and relocated them. I've had to struggle, google and try to find what's missing.

I wish it integrated nativly WITH the app, and wasn't a standalone app
This is REALLY good when it works, but when it doesn't it's a real pain. For users with only one account, I can't see any issues, but I have two accounts. Randomly, it will chose which it wants to authenticate my password for, and which account it forces me to login on the web with full credentials for. Annoying since there's no ryhme or reason for if/when it'll ask, delaying my entire workflow. Dear devs, please integrate an extension into the Mac app of 1Password. Let me know if there's something I don't know and I'll update this review. :)

Be VERY Careful
Version 8 is not like Version 7. While version 7 is very user friendly and easy to use Version 8 is not. It's not an upgrade from a recognizable software version to a updated version - it's a whole different software product. All product use questions are handled by users forum. I don't believe they field test product updates with real people. Examples double click on password item and instead of launching to the webiste for login it opens a submenu withing 1Password. Need a new password good luck finding where you can do that. Convulted design. Totally unresponsive towards making changes for average user familarity. Makes you wonder about the real security of this product.

How the mighty have fallen
1Password 8 really stinks. I've been using 1P since version 3 and while it's gotten a bit bloated over the years, it was always reliable and pretty easy to use. Version 8 is a mess unfortunately. I now have daily issues with auto-filling passwords. I frequently have to copy and paste passwords. What's the use of having a password manager if I need to copy and paste? A spreadsheet is good enough for that. Over the years I've watched the 1Password team become both greedy and sloppy. Their subscription rate is pretty ridiculous considering that the program has so many bugs and issues. I think I'm done with 1P. I'm happy to pay for reliable software, but not this buggy mess.

You have to *directly* download 1Password 8
Numerous bad reviews cite how much worse things got with 1Password 8. The critical detail is that the 1Password 8 App is not in the app store, only 1Password 7, and the browser extension works poorly with 1Password 7. I don't know why this is - perhaps connected to App store monopolistic 30% comission policies and 1Password's subscription - but it makes for incredible frustration. There is no clear communication about this in the app store or in support responses - one would reasonably expect to get the latest version from the app store!

Icon sits (and ONLY sits...) in the Menu bar
So this is an upgrade, eh ? The iPassword sits in the menubar and does NOTHING on selection. If I go to the computer menu bar, open 1P and copy the log-in (very convenient, no ?) - whatever was copied cannot be pasted into fields in Safari. For me, this entire change from the simple v6 app to an Account and so far it has NOT been an improvement in any way. // AgileBits replied that I need to talk to their Support. For the Record I have spent many weeks or even months trying to deal with the problems I ran into with the change to account setup. I have simply run out of time and patience to chase down all the places where 1P does not work as advertised...

V8 gets a bad rap
Don't let the negative reviews scare you... I've used 1P since V3 and it's an essential part of my digital life. While much of the early feedback of V8 was valid, I feel like it's now largely overblown due to a vocal minority of users who just hate change. V8 keeps improving and streamlines a lot of the UI in positive ways. Reinventing the app for longer term success came with some growing pains and I commend the team for pulling it off and continuing to improve the apps and service.
