Having played quite a few levels of this game, I have to say that they do remove the blurred photos as the levels get harder and I like the progression. Since it is different from how the online version used to be, it would have been nice for the rules to be accessible somewhere other than the tutorial, since I only looked now, after having played a few levels. As with the other reviewer, I’d like the IMDB rating to be added also and look forward to that update. The biggest annoyance would probably be that the ads on the bottom obscure the last movie on the list. I don’t mind ads and see that there is a paid option with no ads, but it would mostly just be nice not to have to scroll up and hold on to the screen to read the last movie details. Other than that, I am enjoying it so far since it is actually doable for me as someone who isn’t super familiar with actors and movies in a way that the site sometimes isn’t!
I love the web version of this so I was excited to see the app version but there are so many ads. The ad at the bottom of the app makes it difficult to go to settings and no matter how often I try, I can’t get the remove ads option to work.
i never rate apps but i had to for this one. i hate wordle, sudoku, and crossword but this is the one for me. all the quips i had with the online version (only being able to play once a day, no hints, etc) have been fixed with the app. this is now my daily crossword and i love it. my only suggestion is that the addition of a multiplayer feature on the app !! i feel it would be the icing on the cake; this game is best tackled with multiple cinephilic minds. for now I’ll just play with my friends when they’re with me in person.
I’ll start by saying this game was basically made for me. Between the web version and now the app, I’ve spent a lot of time playing Actorle and I’ve been having a great time. But for months now, I’ve been unable to play the Daily Challenge. I open the app and click on daily challenge, it takes me to the next page, which is totally blank, no clues or anything. Tried deleting and reinstalling, doesn’t help, and there are no updates in the App Store. Reading other reviews, it seems like I’m no the only one with this issue. No idea when or if it will ever be fixed?
I have been enjoying this game a lot. The only thing I find a bit frustrating is that not all actors show up when you try to guess them. At first I assumed it didn’t accept lesser known actors but I tried to guess Katherine Heigl and she didn’t show up and same for many other actors. Otherwise a very challenging and addicting game.
me and my friends are all movie buffs so we love this game, but the party mode has an infuriating bug: when typing the answer it often deletes it or continually replaces your typing with a prior typo. even though the party mode is really attractive to me and my friends, we don’t play it because it can be too frustrating to have your answer deleted in a timed game. other than that i love this game and the app :)
I loved the original web version but the app is so buggy. I paid for the ad free version but once you get to level 9 the lists are missing significant chucks of actors catalogs. Level 11 has Johnny Depo’s first movie as Sleepy Hollow in 1999. He had about 20 movies going back 15 more years. Some levels show actors last movies happening 10 years ago and the ratings & categories are way off. Sorry friend but your API needs a big update.
I like the app overall, but I’m frustrated that stars are never rewarded when I complete daily challenges. Always stays at 153 and never changes unless I use stars to buy hints.
The web version has become choked with ads so I decided to try the app. The game itself is fun, but the daily challenge just gives me a black screen most days, completely unplayable.
Haven’t been able to play a daily challenge since December 28th. Sent in feedback and was told there was an update in the App Store but there isn’t one.
Love the game idea as I’m a walking IMDB, but I’m a little baffled by the sole starting clue for Sylvester Stallone being M*A*S*H (1970). Uh, Stallone wasn’t in M*A*S*H. And Viola Davis wasn’t in Ocean’s 11. Your movie connections need closer review.
Don’t like the fact that you reveal lol it’s first and show a blurred picture. Makes it to easy to guess. Defeats the purpose of the game. There’s no challenge in that.
