buggy is right, but still better than...
NonPaying, NonUnion, and Reality keep resetting to on, even when you shut them off. Region will not update/change (after changing locations) when looking for postings. It remains the same. Even if you pull down to refresh. If you're on let's say, Southeast, and then you change to let's say, Hawaii, it will still show Southeast. SOMETIMES if try another location, it will go to Hawaii. Not even sure how this could possibly be coded??

You only see 4/5 of breakdowns
I have been exclusively using this app to submit to roles since it was announced, I love being able to get notifications directly through the app. I only ever look at the website to read my Cmails and submit self tapes. I decided to look at the “breakdowns fit for me” on the website today and was shocked to discover not every role I qualified for was showing up on the app, it seams like some roles just randomly don’t go on the app for whatever reason, even though they are a match for me. For the 25 breakdowns on the first page of breakdowns fit for me on the website, only 20 show up on the app. Very upsetting and disappointing. I love the idea of the app, but it’s just not there yet. One other problem, you can’t see the project “type” once you click on it to see all the details.

Could be better
I think that the app is on the right track, but I noticed immediately I can’t apply for any of the gigs because it doesn’t have any options to show pay or the dates that the projects go into production. I recently got an internship and I need to make sure I can work around my work schedule, so this is very important for me. It’s very basic and straightforward which is nice, you can click on the character you want to apply for and send in your information immediately but it’s still lacking. The website is a better bet, but if the app gets improved I can see AA becoming more widely used. It has potential! Just not all there right now.

Don’t even waste your time
I have been using this app for a little over a month. And the only thing this app has been doing is sending me a thousand notifications of supposedly new roles. But every time I look it’s the same roles. Then today when I tried to open the app. The app turned black and wouldn’t even work. I even restarted my phone (to get it to work again) thinking it was my phone. But every time I opened it It’s black and won’t let me do anything. Overall Im just really disappointed in this app. When i downloaded this app I thought I could see my whole account and access my profile. Maybe upload some videos and work on my profile on the go. But sadly you can’t even do that. I honestly don’t even see the point of having the app since it clearly doesn’t work and doesn’t allow you to do anything else but audition.

Great... expectations
While I do love Actor’s Access and mush credit it with most of my success as an actor this app falls very short when compared to the website. 1. You can not access you’re c mail. 2. You cannot submit auditions. 3. When submitted for a role, you cannot go back and amend you photo choice, add a comment, or attach your demo reel if you initially forgot or were to hasty when clicked the submit button. 4. Apparently not all roles are making onto the app(this is based on other reviews I’ve read/ heard). 5. There is no separation in the feed. When I get notifications for 5-10 new roles I have to scroll down the list to find where exactly I left off last time I was on the app. I can simply count of then number of projects because some have more than one appropriate role and I can’t look for the “Submitted” icon because I might well have passed on the last several projects offered to me. I often waste several minutes re-reading roles I passed on, there need to be some sort of indicator or separation between the new roles and those you’ve already seen. 6. You can’t access your profile. You can’t make changes, add new photos or videos, change resume or measurements. You can’t do anything. All in all, the app is a nice thought but for the most part, a waste of time and space.

AA has been working on this app for years - and what this app does is very disappointing. Their website is still in need of an update, as well. A few things I’d love to see: 1) Turn off notifications / ‘roles fit for me’ for different projects / roles (non-principle roles in student films, background work, theatre, industry, voiceover, etc). 2) A way to c mail projects that have sent an eco cast. 3) A required field to include a phone number when sending an invitation to attend an in-person audition. 4) Show which headshot was submitted in c mails / eco-casts. 5) A link to director’s reel. 6) Get rid of Slate Shots and Slates in general - this is a New York City theatre trend and doesn’t apply to film. They know who we are, who we’re reading for, and our stats are available on our resume. 😜 2, 3, and 5 mostly apply to non union films that don’t have a formal casting office or a known-body of work - perhaps that could be applied to just those projects.

Needs work
If we get use of the app for paying the premium, you would expect it to work better than the web browser which is free to all. With work, the app could be great! I only offer this feedback constructively, I can’t imagine how difficult it is to develop a functional app. The app works well enough when submitting to roles but won’t allow you to change the filters. Every day I have notification after notification alerting me of new roles, but when clicked on, it shows the same Non-Union roles I’ve already seen. Consistently and persistently redundant notifications for roles I wish I weren’t seeing to begin with is frustrating. - Allow users to add filters to the breakdowns they’re seeing. I added the filter on the desktop browser that I am unwilling to work non-Union. Why should I still have to be notified for and see Non-Union work? -The integration of cMail would also be great. The inability to receive cMails greatly diminishes the effectiveness of using the app on the go.

Not a bad start
Needs a way to hide notices so you don’t keep scrolling through them. Many “matches” are not matches because all filters aren’t being used or the notices have certain traits that we not in filters. So to hide them would be great or to only see them from a certain time period. I don’t need to scroll to notices I didn’t submit for from over a week or even month or 2 months ago. Plus there is no way to see different regions in addition to making changes to profile. A link to see in one place what we submitted for. Can we upload ecocast? Or is this submit only and do everything else from laptop? So like I said. Not a bad start.

Actors No-Access
This app has two features (three if you include the log-out button). One for “role matches” and one for “auditons”. The roles matches tab has literally nothing on it except a message that says “you have no role matches” and the auditions tab says “you have no scheduled auditions”. SUUUPER helpful. Considering the fact that this is a fairly predatory audition platform (making you pay individually for any media you want to add) it’s truly disgusting how bad the app is. In case I wasn’t clear enough, you will NOT be able to find any auditions through this app. If you insist on using actors access, you might as well save yourself the memory on your phone and just access it online. OR you can just use Backstage and save yourself all the hassle in general 😂

Good start-Needs work
AA has great UI which is why I think their site leads in the industry. Others are way too inefficient but this app, like the website, is quick and practical and I love that. I know it’s a new app BUT after I got excited about all the cool roles I just submitted for I realized all the roles suggested for me were all from years prior... why even show roles that are past deadlines?? Makes no sense.. I’m sure it’ll get fixed and I look forward to the app being practical but as of now it seems useless since not one current role popped up..

Improved from the first version
I had this app when it first came out and it blew. I deleted it, gave up and on a whim redownload it and to my surprise, it really works for what actors need. Being able to get notifications on my phone instead of a barrage of emails is awesome not to mention being able to upload auditions directly from my phone. The emailing system has also improved. All in all, this is what happens when a company actually uses their money wisely and invests in technology that is current and helpful. Well done. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Even with the update…
TLDR: not worth a download. They just advertised a new update that finally INCLUDES Cmail…and it still doesn’t work. The app still manages to be less organized and glitchier than the website itself, which is saying something. This website continues to be the industry standard out of nothing else than tradition. They made aesthetic changes to the login page but as soon as you log in…the same old same old. Cmail is clunky at best, Eco Casts are disorganized, and the submission form for breakdowns STILL opens up a pop up after all these years. You can’t put it all on the same page?? They continue not to be able to keep up with demand, and they’ll be phased out soon if they don’t update.

You Don’t Get Notifications From Your Inbox
The app does not notify you about messages the you receive in your CMail. It’s hard to always get on the website to check for messages, so it doesn’t make sense that the app that lets you submit, but doesn’t let you know that you are requested for auditions. I’ve personally have missed many messages about being casted, because I didn’t have the time to go online. The website is 10 times better than the app. The app seems very basic and needs to provide the full service of the website, because we are paying to use Actor’s Access.

Only good for submissions
There is a wide array of submissions and great to pick up jobs. The app itself is basically useless because it never gives you notifications for any responses to submissions. You end up having to go to the website anyway just to respond to anything. I don’t even know how many actual opportunities I missed because the app never places any notifications for CMail or ecocasts. The app itself would be useful if you got a notification for the ONE thing you’re looking for: Responses to submissions. Literally needs one thing and one thing only. Access to CMail.

Finally
I am SO HAPPY there is finally an app, it makes using actors access SO much easier. The app is well polished overall and I haven’t had problems since downloading. My only ‘complaint’ is the aesthetic. Although it is cleaner than the website, I wish things were easier to distinguish by using colors like the backstage app. Also I wish the font size was a little smaller lol. But I am being picky. Overall the app is amazing and has been long awaited.

EDIT: Original (two star) review below, but I wanted to write and say if you’re not getting breakdowns, you apparently have to turn your “Advanced Role Notification Settings” on in order to see breakdowns on the app (this isn’t listed in the instructions on the app, but was a solution). Will probably still primarily use the website but this was a helpful fix. ____________________ ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’ve had this app since its release and it was spotty at times but overall a solid complimentary piece of software to use in addition to the website. About three weeks ago the app stopped showing new breakdowns. I still see them on my computer under the “fit for me” tab, but on the app, not at all. I’ve tried all sorts of troubleshooting and nothing. A bummer — this was great when it functioned.

Limited, buggy
Compared to the Actors Access website there's so few things you can do with the APP. You can only look for work in two regions, you don't have access to Showfax and when you upload your audition through the APP then check the video to make sure it uploaded correctly there's never any playback audio. So you have to go to the website anyway to make sure there's audio for your audition. I like the ease of uploading everything straight from my phone but it's brutal to search for jobs or get playback on.

Definitely a great start!
The app looks and feels great! Clearly lacking a few features that I’m sure will be added over the course of time. I will say, however, that my favorite part about the desktop website is how simple and compact it is; the necessary info you need is available to you in a way that can be digested quickly. The app requires a bit more scrolling to get through as many postings. That said, I’m very much looking forward to using this over time!

It works for me butttt
For the past almost 3 years I kept downloading and re downloading, but it still wouldn’t work. Fast forward to 2 months ago I tried to give it another chance. It worked. I finally saw all the auditions I missed out on. Then I tried to apply for one andddddd….. it makes you PAY. Like literally it forces you to pay. It makes you pay 10$ a month which isn’t that expensive it still hurts cause I remember when it was free. Yeah. That’s it though.

Great start, needs fine tuning
It’s wonderful to have an app that gives instant notifications, because we all know how important it is to submit quickly. However, PLEASE add additional filters (union v non, paid v deferred, etc) because so many of the notifications I get aren’t jobs for which I want to apply. Cmail on the app would be great as well, but is significantly less important to me than improved filters, even just the simple ones available on the desktop version.

This app and website have never been solid
Uploading media is a nightmare. Any time casting sends files through the AA platform (audio files, videos, etc), they never work. There’s always an error or some issue trying to view a simple document. The only reliable source is when they send Dropbox or google drive links to videos. I love the convenience and the innovation behind this website, but it’s just always been horrible to interact with. Please fix your bugs and performance issues. People’s employment relies on these very basic programming functions.

Role matching does not work
I’ve had this app for several months and it has never showed a matching role even there have been quite a few in that time. It says it has to match age to play, gender to play, and ethic appearance to match a role. Well, it’s set in my profile and it matches what’s in roles but no matches appear in the app. It looks like it hasn’t been updated since last year, not even for iOS15 so maybe that’s part of the problem. But right now it is useless to me. It would be nice if it at least gave the ability to search breakdowns but it doesn’t even do that.

Update ~ Works now [Just doesn’t work]
As someone else noticed, you have to go into you profile settings to get the notifications. Something was changed a few months ago so I had to redo them. But it's working now. Not really a five-star app. The last star is a pity star. I still don't really like Actors Access because you have to pay every time you want to upload a new picture. But some CDs like it for some reason. [It used to work but hasn’t sent me any new breakdowns in months, though my profile is complete. I have to look in Safari. Actors Access is really expensive (after you pay for each little picture or video you upload) so this is ridiculous.]

Website is great, app doesnt send you every match!!
App and website both have done me good, but the algorithm for finding role matches is not perfect and will not show you 100% of the roles you are eligible for. If you could look at all roles via the app, this would not be a problem. On the website you can apply to whichever roles you wish, including the ones which you are eligible for that their algorithm does not notice.

Thank you so much! Now I can access my Cmails and Eco-Casts on the app. So convenient! The team even quickly fixed an issue I was having after the update with the app throwing errors when re-opening out of sleep. Very helpful and responsive support team!

Actors Access needs alot of work
I appreciate the service however your app is terrible. I log in and it says I have no auditions nor any matching roles however the website says something very different. I’ve downloaded the app twice hoping it would be different but I am finding that it is not. I just use the website instead. It would be helpful (since I’m on the go alot) to have a user friendly app on our phones to check auditions and submit for them. The website needs some help also.

Needs work
This app is now 2 years old and still doesn’t have the functionality of the full site. Size card requests, which are sometimes required, aren’t transferred to the submission screen. If you hit the back button to check if you should include it, you lose all your work with reel clips and notes. Just put it on the submission page with the role breakdown, AA! Also, actors beware: not all relevant info is showing on the app! I nearly missed a nudity disclosure because it did not display on the app — only on the desktop version. This is big and important info that’s not being pulled into the display. I’m not sure what the point of the app is now that I know it’s omitting paragraphs…Entire paragraphs of info that were included by casting for a reason.

Can not see some of the wording
As of two days til the date you can not see a lot of the wording including when you sign in. Also I feel the app is too much of a short cut. There are titles left out unless you go in the website and you are not able to manage your account on the app. I don’t know if you are aiming for the “click and go” concept with the app. I don’t know that that is a good idea since there several bits of information left out like services and managing your account.

Dreadful app. Use the AA website instead. Less frustrating.
The app was bad before the new update, but now it's unusable. When I go to the Cmail option, I get "Something went wrong. Unable to load Cmail. Please try again." I have, repeatedly. Including deleting and reinstalling app. When I try to submit, I get the following error "Couldn't load breakdown." Every. Single. Time. Honestly, to any actor reading this, just rely on getting the breakdown emails and using the actual website, even on a phone. This app is trash.

Does not show my current auditions
What is the point of this app if it doesn’t even show my current auditions? Says I have zero when I have a confirmed guest star audition for Fuqua’s The Resident on the website. This app be krap. The app should bear some resemblance and functionality of the website many have been using for years. I have been complaining about the website for years and this is what you guys release? I mean, come on. Just fix the website so it works on mobile devices like phones and tablets.

New roles don’t post
I love the app because it’s easy to quickly see what new roles I could audition for but for some reason they don’t update on the app. I go on the site and there are a ton of roles when i filter “roles fit for me” but none of them will show up on my app no matter how many times I refresh, reset, log in and out. Hope it’s fixed soon since having roles posted at your fingertips is ideal given the competitiveness and timeliness the industry requires.

Stick to the website for now
The biggest issue is it shows breakdowns for things that came and went MONTHS ago. Also there's no way to sort by region. It gives me breakdowns for Canada or Alabama lol. No access to your profile, no way to sort by Union/non-Union, the breakdowns are too long for scrolling-- just use their header with the pay, location, Union status etc. I'll click into it if I want more info. Please can we sort by most recent or better yet, delete the months and year old posts.

Limited
It’s great to get notifications that remind you to check AA, but the roles that appear on the app are often incomplete. I’ve thought several times that I applied to all of the roles that fit my description, only to find that the website has a longer list. I think it would be great to have filters in the app like we do on the AA website. I’d like to filter to see what union breakdowns fit me. I do not want to have to sift through non-union breakdowns on the app if that is something I’m not interested in viewing.

Solid App
It puts out a lot of great information and the information provided is clear and accurate. The only change I would love to see is being able to limit the jobs presented to certain types. As a voice actor, I’m often bombarded with audition opportunities that I’m not looking for.

Doesn’t work
Simply put, it just doesn’t work. I hav an active account on the site m, complete with profile, headshots, résumé and demo reel, that my agents use for my submissions. None of these things show up in the app. Not even the auditions that I actually have eco casts for show up under the “auditions” tab. If they managed to make it work and somehow make the interface good to make submissions with the phone, this could be a game changer. Until then, we’re left with this sorry excuse fir what might’ve been.

So, this app has been out for 4 years and they still don’t have CMail or EcoCast? Everything on this app is mostly okay, but not being able to just view and respond to CMail is HUGE! Why is it only if you have scheduled auditions? I would love this app 10x more if I could simply view CMail and eco cast so I can read breakdowns of self-tapes and the sides on the fly. That’s been a fundamental part of Actors Access for years.

Inadequate app
You can’t read or check messages on this app! How is that in anyway sensible?! I had a callback notification that I saw on my laptop & then wanted to check the address on the app but there’s no way to access the mailbox. Useless!!! One of the fundamental criteria for being cast is whether you’re union or non-union. You can’t stipulate this in your search parameters which makes this app time consuming to look through. Far easier to search on the proper website. Also pointless having a non-interactive ‘help’ page.

You’ll End Up Using The Website..Anyway 🙄
The filters for the “roles that fit me” needs to a better design on website and app; it’s too high level and randomly shows roles that do and don’t fit me. I don’t like that there is no option to ignore a role, I do not want any theater roles, so the feed ends up being a bunch projects I don’t want. There is no cmail view or profile /edit view ; so I end up going back to the website to pretty much do everything which defeats the purpose of the convenience in having the app.

Few options needed
It’s great to finally have an app that allows you to access Actors Access from IPhone. A few additional options should be put in there. Updating resume. Changing and updating photos, slates, demo reels. Overall we’re finally going in the right direction to make actors access more easier to access on the go. Good start. 👌🏻

Needs Work
It was fine for the first month I had it but now it completely stopped working for me. All it says is “There are no roles available” but when I log on to the site, I can submit to roles that fit me. Also I wish (when it was working for me) it had the messages tab like on the site. Overall I still end up needed to log on the site instead of the app at the end of the day which can be inconvenient sometimes.

I enjoy this app when it comes to informing me about auditions and submitting initially, I use the actual site to submit my eco cast because it’s much easier that way. However, recently, most of the text can not be seen because the font color is white against a white background or black against a black background. Makes it impossible to use. Until it is fixed I may have to delete the app all together

No Access to Cmail
When I saw AA had released an app I was so happy! Instead of logging on and off to view auditions and requests, I could sign into the app and have all the information there. WRONG There’s no access to cmail. If you have an agent or manager they send you cmails where you receive audition requests and the information that goes along with the breakdown. These audition requests never show up in the “auditions” tab. Which is all the app has. I don’t know why, but they don’t. So the fact that the app doesn’t have cmail means for actors who aren’t self submitting, you can’t do anything in the app. You can only submit yourself and see self submit auditions there. Pretty big let down. If they added cmail, it would CHANGE THE GAME.

Nothing works.
I enjoy actors access, but you literally can’t do anything on this app. Can’t see my cmail, can’t see any breakdowns, can’t see auditions, can’t manage photos, resume, or anything personal details. I literally see two tabs and both are empty despite all the cmail, breakdowns, and auditions I have. I feel like someone started to build this app and then just stopped. At which point, it should really be removed from the stores.

I love the app. The leads are specific to my profile and the feed back can be very quick as it pertains to ecocast. Be aware that if you purchase through the app…you can only select the monthly membership.

Useless
I liked this app in the past, even with the limited option of just submitting for roles. However, lately it doesn’t even show me the mew roles that pop up. Obviously nobody is really monitoring this app or the reviews and was a sloppy thrown together mess. If they made it actually up to do with the website, allowed you to upload and download headshots and demo reels, you could edit your account, access mails, do the actors access virtual auditions, etc, this would be an AMAZING app. As it stands, it’s not.

Meh
All the listings that match me are from 2017 and earlier. I’m pretty sure I just applied to a listing from 2015 without realizing. And when I login to the website there are plenty of listings that work for me from 2019. It would be great if listings no longer casting were archived from the site and the app. Also, as many have said, it would be cool to be able to access my profile and cmail. And while it appears the automatic filter works, I’d rather be able to adjust the filter myself.
