World Info Forcibly Deleting, otherwise good
If I were to sing this app any praises, I’d just be repeating others. To keep it short, it’s amazing, but I recently have had an issue with one of my worlds. It was my newest, and I wanted to change a minor detail about a race, so I did so. No matter how many times I modified and saved, though, nothing would change. The thing I wanted to do was mostly for flavor so I just got over it. Then I tried to delete an unrelated entry; didn’t save regardless of pressing both buttons. It no longer let me add custom info, either, so I couldn’t troubleshoot inconsistencies. Eventually I got tired of repeating and thought to create a new world and copy/paste 100 times until I got it onto another file. When I tried though, I went back to find my world description nonexistent in edit, despite being there on the screen. I was still able to play though. Eventually, I got tired of it and decided to delete the world, as due to the lack of troubleshooting I never got too attached. After deleting it, I go to another, older world of mine to play, only to find the description deleted in edit and all of my information on it gone. I can’t even QuickStart. I love this AI, but please help. I love this world and the others of my creation and I don’t want anything to happen to them. Thank you both in general and in advance.

Amazing
Simply amazing. While there are some flaws, those are bound to happen. I have started playing a few years ago. Before there was an energy system, I think. The AI is really creative, although sometimes doesn’t acknowledge what you said, or misinterprets it. I once said “search the rest of the house” and the AI started to describe the room I was already in. I ‘examined’ the room before. It was word for word. I then tried “go to the next room” and it said “you leave the house and a mob of angry peasants rush after you” Although there are sometimes where it does outstandingly, like once I said “examine the hooded woman” and it said “You walk up to the hooded woman. You can see piercing scarlet eyes, with black hair. She appears to be some humanoid race as her skin is slight green. She had two large breasts. She appears to be in her late twenties. She looks like she can expertly use many bladed weapons”. Would I recommend this game? As it is right now, yeah, only if whoever I was talking to asks about a game like AI dungeons. If it gets more polished, and have fewer mess ups would i recommend it? Oh most certainly! ***WARNING! CONTENT IS IN GAME BUT OFF BY DEFAULT AND MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL READERS*** Also when in the ‘NSFW’ category/turn filtering off, it sometimes doesn’t do what you say, I can’t really give an example as it might be against Apples ToS. Let’s just say it’s not always the right orifice.

Infinite fun
Before I start I want to point out that I’ve actually only ever played the Knight story in the Fantasy setting. This being said, I’ve still played this game for hours upon hours! It’s just so fun! The ai has so many different events at its disposal that in the many hours I’ve spent playing, I’ve never once seen the same event twice, aside from the beginning. The main story is always the same. Although you really don’t need to do the story. I’ve had the most fun just going out and doing whatever path the random events set me on. I will say the game isn’t perfect. Like I said I’ve only played the fantasy story, which is of course a medieval setting, but sometimes the ai seems to forget this and tells me I found a shotgun or a rifle. Sometimes in the middle of a fight it’ll say I pull out a gun and shoot whatever I’m fighting. Another problem is the ai having characters you’ve never met apparently with you and talking to you. One of the more absurd examples I’ve had is, after killing a werewolf, my mom started talking to me. There was no mention of her, I had never met them, let alone brought them with me. All of this is pretty uncommon but it can throw off your immersion and sometimes be a bit annoying. All in all I won’t complain too much because the devs are constantly updating and improving the game, so I’m sure they’ll fix it.

A Few Small Faulty Wires
The game can be very creative, but only if you work with the given genres. Genres like romance and general horror or thiller, or genres containing existential issues need a lot of clarity. And although the /remember tool is useful you need to use it a lot initially to keep the rules of the game consistent. But even then the game may forget it completely or force the rules onto the game so hard that personalities and events are unable to be changed. It isn’t like you can use /remember like a switch. Sometime the A.I. will completely not use key elements you used in the plot initiation. Another annoyance is that the game will interpret the proper grammar usage of “me, mine, my, etc.” as a new character which makes it feel like your talking to the game engine, completely disrupting any immersion. Despite this, the A.I. can be fairly creative if your vocabulary is expansive. And the potential and sheer amount of unique responses from the engine outcompetes any other app or game in this market. And third person pronoun usage is almost always correctly connected to the antecedents. Fixing the game to make it understand both complex and casual grammar and sentence structure is my general request/tip, but so far the only issues I’ve found have been very minor, though they produce a complex web of issues to the players. Honestly, the best thing about this app is that it’s free without any advertisements.

Phenomenal idea with a few issues
I loved it so much, especially in the beginning. After a bit I realized it kept changing my name and suddenly I’m talking to someone else who has my name and they call me dad when they just got through saying their dad was deceased. Then people randomly appear in places that they couldn’t have. Suddenly Owen is there, suddenly a name like Hazel pops up and you’re like “who is that?” Pretty soon you have a whole clan of strangers and you’re now someone else and the goal you set up initially gets lost. I also had times the story got stuck and couldn’t generate anything to any command and I couldn’t undo more than one. Going back further didn’t help. I’d love to know where a nice list of commands is and for my name to stay the same, and the setup I initially gave it as well to stay the same. There are wording issues but those don’t bother me like everyone’s name changing like ring around the Rosie kinda situation. We just need a little more stability to the story and the characters. Thanks. And please keep working on this, and scenarios for females to play. That was another issue. My gender changed on me several times. I am Eva, then I’m Jacob, or Rick. Wha? Lol noooooo. Would like detailed description for options, like randomness. Randomness levels do what? It’s already randomized. Does lowering it help it to stick to the story? Details. Details. ♥️

An overall fun but buggy experience
I just picked up AI Dungeon on iOS a few days ago. If you’re patient and work within the limitations of AI, it works really well. It has the potential to give a modest stimulating experience, but you have to be willing to give back. So far, I’ve written my own scenario with many story cards, added story cards on the fly in existing scenarios, and I freely switch between Do, Say, and Story actions to keep a good flow. It’s engaging and fun to see what the AI does with the information. No AI is without its flaws. There are inconsistencies, and limitations for free users which is fine. I have a bigger issue with the UI, specifically that it tends to bug out frequently. I’ve had UI elements stuck on my screen, buttons that don’t respond to taps until I navigate back or restart the app, sections of UI stuck off-screen, and recently, undoing an action would autonomously redo the same action (needlessly wasting the last of my limited premium actions). I’ve also had some trouble continuing scenarios, returning an error halfway into loading until I restart the app and do nothing else except go *straight* to the scenario. I really enjoy the app. I’m okay with the free user experience, but even in the default Stable build, it’s clear that it destabilizes with use and it’s a little frustrating. I’ll keep using it, but I hope that UI functionality gets a little more TLC.

hey nice game
i like it alot but when ever i go into custom i feel like its always trying to force me into an adventure when all i want to do is make my character live a slow life (i.e live in a farm, sell crops, travel ) but it always tries to put me in some grand adventure. I feel like the way its trying to get me into it is like a door to door sales man. Also whenever i get a farm or put my character in a slow life situation the script always tries to end the story (i.e “you live a peaceful life selling crops and lives happily ever after) I would also like a panel that has a list of names of party members, family, and others so i don’t have to look back and try to find them out. But all in all lots of potential great game 9/10 would rp again. new prob: hi again idk if you’ll see this but i think the game is great but the AI tries to make its own story sometimes like for example i recently wrote out a pretty lengthy custom story that i was pretty proud of but the AI at the end of it auto completed it like umm... so i wrote the story like your chara goes back in time to japans sengoku period and the AI thinks the samurai is a person and that japan is a dude... plz give a command to kinda like manually fix or forces the AI to remember. Basically i want to write a bullet point list that the AI will go to for references to the story i want to tell. ok thats my input great game btw.

Pros and Cons
I just want to start of saying this is one of my favorite ai generators maybe even my number one, as it’s so detailed and very interesting never making me bored as every sentence is such a thrill to read making while making my own story for my enjoyment, I love it all the while I just have a few complaints but I hope you understand where I come from when I say that the free 100 energy is a little to small though that might just be for me who uses this too much I just don’t like how you have 100 texts before the ai goes dry and little to no texts, meanwhile even though when I had energy it was only a limit on the sentences the ai generated. Though this might be a marketing plan to get you to buy the higher plans I just want to continue playing without having to stop every 24 hours due to me not being able to pay for a plan, but as I’ve stated earlier it might just be me as I don’t usually buy game items or anything, but who knows maybe I’m just complaining cause I have no money… well that’s all I wanted to say thank you so much for this wonderful app and I’ll continue to use it for entertainment, great work devs!

D&D Revolutionized
This app is absolutely fascinating. I heard about this from a professor and it has exceeded my expectations, the AI used within this app is beyond anything I’ve seen before! It offers a unique experience for those looking for an adventure wether it be for D&D or just a choose your own adventure game, it delivers. The interface is user friendly with a guidebook that can answer the main majority of questions. It delivers tools for the user to build a story they want to participate in. You can create your own worlds and scenarios with tons of different options for creators to choose from. If anything more options/tools for creators and such would be welcome. The creator community is great with endless worlds and scenarios for others to explore. There are tons of genres ranging from Fantasy to Zombie Apocalypse. For those who don’t want to pay the monthly premium subscription it isn’t necessary you can still have all the fun of premium with the base game. As a fellow game developer I appreciate what the developers are doing here with AI and I hope they continue to further and better this amazing product over time.

It’s great but...
It’s a great app and you can pretty much do whatever you want but...it logged me out of my account and I had to make another one which made me really upset because I had lots of stories on that account and even though I made another account it still logs me out sometimes...It’s really not that big of a deal that I had to make another account but I still think it’s a problem that it just randomly logged me out...I don’t really know what happened but I was deleting a bunch of lines from my story and then I just exited out of the app and then I came back in and it logged me out..so like does it just randomly do that? Or is it just a glitch?...or maybe I accidentally hit the log out button when I was exiting the app. Other than me complaining it’s really an awesome app and it updates a lot so I guess I should’ve expected it to log me out since it updates a lot but it’s kinda annoying that it still logs me out sometimes after I leave. I still really like the app and It was kind of my fault since I didn’t write my account information down. Anyways I still really love AI Dungeon a lot and I hope you have a nice day!

Not fond of ads, but scales for actions was a great idea
I get it; you need money to support your company. But ever since actions were locked behind ads, the game has almost become unplayable for me. I love using it to write stories but they grind to a halt once the ads start popping up. I know there are subscriptions to help keep the flow going, but I personally was never fond of the monthly payment model ever since World of Warcraft. So perhaps maybe a one-time payment would work? One and done? I’d happily give maybe $10-$15 if it meant I could play uninterrupted. Update: I’m bumping up my review from 2 to 4 stars because while I still don’t like having ads in this, it was an awesome idea on the devs’ part to use the scales you accumulate daily and turn them into actions to play the game (of which I have more than enough). I still stand by my initial review and yes, I knew about the Steam version. AI dungeon really is a great game, but now that I can play it again without interruption, it’s only fair to update the overall review to match my feelings accordingly. Seriously devs, scales for actions was a fantastic idea.

Problems
I’ve used Au Dungeon for years. I love writing stores and it makes it easier because I can control everything. But sense the new update I was only able to get into it once. And when I did everything seemed fine. I liked the new look. But when I was able to figure out how to get back into a recent story. The words were hard and I was having a fight with my keyboard while trying to figure out how to write in the story again. Then seeing the words all across my screen from side to side was hard to look at. I went to try and change the colors but I was unable to find that option, while also fighting with the app trying to get to someplace. I went to crate a new world and it looked and felt a little easier than before. But then it would make the story. So I tried restarting the app and I saw that from before. Your past world pieces where you could select a location or something that you used in one world into another was gone. So that was annoying. I tried again and like before it was taking a long time. I gave up and later when I tried opening the app I would load me in. It’s been like that sense. I usually wait for the retry button again then waiting a bit but it won’t let me into that app now.

AI is frustrating sometimes
I’ve tried to play through the mystery story lines a few times and each time has been a struggle to start. I’ll write something for the game and something I didn’t write at all will happen. The AI is very hand-holdy and will often take your sentence and control your character into doing something you weren’t planning to do at all. Another problem is it often derails. When I call out for help and go out into a hospital hall but then get a response of help in the room I was just in, then backtrack into the room with all of a sudden the game pointing me to a notebook that I attempt to read that states “this is my story...” but then try and press forward and it’s empty.... it’s frustrating to say the least. I feel like all my attempts get me no where and it’s hard to progress. I keep trying and I get farther every time, but the AI always seems to get stuck at a response and then either repeat itself or just think of a response infinitely. Don’t get me wrong though, I like the game! It has great potential and I love the worlds it builds and sets me up in. I just feel it needs work to be able to not control your character as much and not jump around violently when you are trying to immerse yourself.

Privacy Breach and Faulty Security
The only reason this gets 2 stars is because 1 star reviews are getting deleted. Your stories and data are not safe in this app. The developers of this app have shown that they are more than willing to use a flimsy word filter to manually review stories that their AI believes is offensive, an AI which, if I may add, cannot even remember the name or gender of my story’s characters half the time. Offending stories are then submitted for manual review by a human. That is right, a human can read what are supposed to be your private stories without consent. Unless you are fine with the idea of a complete stranger reading your stories, stay well clear. These same developers are also willfully ignoring security faults after a major data breach that allowed a hacker with (fortunately) good intentions to get the plaintext for thousands of what are supposed to be PRIVATE user stories. I can very easily see how a similar such hack with more malicious intentions can be used to blackmail users via the email they registered their account with by threatening to release their private stories. To say again, your data and your stories are NOT safe with AI Dungeon. Do not download this, and do not give the developers a single penny.

Honestly really cool! (:
The kids in the lunch table next to me were playing this game so naturally I decided I needed to download it. I love to write and I’ve been having so much fun with this game! I’ll click the custom option and write a few world building sentences for a story/plot I’ve been working on, and play around with the possibilities in the story lines the game gives you. It’s really helpful if you need to explore your character more, or just need some scenes to write off of to get over writers block. The only reason it gets four stars is because, as you have progress before, the AI isn’t perfect yet and can get confused. Sometimes you’ll “hand the guard your ID” and then take it back, and then apparently the guard takes it back AGAIN and you just roll with it. You can also “/revert” and re word your phrase. The only pro in using the app the way I do is sometimes when the AI elaborates on your commands it will add something that makes my petty author self go “my character would never do that!”, with varying amounts of disgrace. All in all I think this app is super cool with how accurate the AI can be, and it’s hard not to use for hours. (:

Very dreamlike
If I ,expected a good story and plot I was disappointed, but it has a charming, adictive apeal. the AI is very good at parsing natural language and responding with detail. The only reason it gets 4 stars and not 5 with me is that it does poorly with dialog with other characters in the story, and its memory is atrocious. it forgets things that happened even two moves ago, then it'll pull out a reference from ten moves If you have too long of a phone conversation with a story character, it might just forget you'd been on the phone. And sometimes it seems rambly, and not always coherent. That said, it's adictive and dreamlike. You can start as a wizard and then suddenly have a robot turn into a fish and swim through a lake. You can be in an apocolyptic setting and randomly choose to cast spells. if you're not strict about genre lines, this game is for in the very start of one of my play-throughs, the ruin in the fantasy setting was surrounded by gunmen. I protected myself from them with a shield spell. it's a bit annoying, but there's something about it that has made me play for the last four hours non-stop.

This game is a fever dream and I love it
Went in as a knight, left as a chess master who can kill people with the true humiliation and sadness and shock when I get checkmate, went in as a adventurer climbing the tower of ascension, ended as some dude just sitting down as a heavenly being and a demon argue about if all gods are female, (Priest also told me to shut up and change my gender) Started rewriting Pokémon, Ended with Gary’s cut up flesh being a tribute to the donkeys who engaged in a gun fight with the gang. Started as a peasant, ended as a dragon slayer who beat the crap out of some poor dragon and became the king for it. I could go on all day, it’s great. And now I will leave you with various quotes from my last session “SHUT UP AND CHANGE YOUR GENDER”-Priest 2021 “You pull the rusty spoon out of your belt and impale the demon through the heart with it”-Ai 2021 (and me because it said dagger and I corrected it because I only had a rusty spoon in my loot pool) “So Anthony why do you want to be a god?”-a Demon named Anthony who was speaking to a character named Bob 2021 Truly this game is heavenly.

Amazing service, TERRIBLE APP
AI dungeon is straight up incredible and one of the most ambitious and well executed projects I’ve ever seen and works perfectly on web, however, the app is unusable. Unusable is not a word I’m using lightly here, it will work for ten or fifteen minutes and then break in some way, whether it’s a straight up freeze or the UI just disappears or starts throwing up authentication errors and refuses to work. This otherwise incredible project is being ruined by some clearly dispassionate or uncaring mobile developers whether they’re contracted or in house, clearly they must know what’s wrong considering the app can’t be used as intended for ten minutes or more without issue, either that or none of the app developers actually use the app they’re developing which is just sad. The new update just added a ton of new ways for the app to randomly break and require a restart, I can’t even type story cards anymore without the UI refusing to respond and trying to duplicate a scenario breaks the menus until the next restart, I’m not always around my laptop so I can’t justify paying a subscription anymore. If you can avoid using the app, it’s incredible and the positive reviews for those aspects are absolutely deserved.

New update kinda broke it
I don’t know if it’s the same for everyone, but mine was doing exactly what it was supposed to, amazing continuity and good with keeping the story in line, albeit a little strange with it’s answers to your commands most of the time. But now with this new update every time I try to command it, the ai always says it’s a little overloaded. And when it actually does go through and the ai doesn’t line up with the stories continuity, (which is fairly often and it’s not that big a deal, I understand), I will use the revert command. Unfortunately with the recent update there’s a bug I have noticed that puts in the revert command in twice in one time and deleting a previous command and forcing me to write back another step. This has been going on constantly and frustrates me more than anything if I write a long command for a story in one and it just deletes all of it. I love this concept and how it’s achieved and everything, but this makes it near unplayable if I can’t input command without something going wrong.

Worked for like 10 min
It was really fluid and great at following complicated commands, but I ran into my first issue with John. I met John the construction worker when he was mugging a dude in an abandoned retail store. We were instant BFFs! But get this, he wants to run away into the woods, so I follow. Next thing I know I’ve been bit on the hand by a zombie hiding in a tree. We make a break for it to a nearby dead cannibal shed. He sits down and starts reading a newspaper while I sit next to him bandaging my hand. When I try to stand up, ALL CRAP BREAKS LOOSE. Apparently now I’m alone in a room with no doors and there is a bed with a mannequin in it that switches faces randomly between man and woman? Sounds like a dream, right? So I ask the game if it’s a dream and wouldn’t ya know it, I wake up in a different shed and John’s no where to be seen! I tell the game “I look for John,” “I call out for John,” “Where’s John?” All the while, I apparently am walking to another shack, it’s almost night, and I meet a woman named Mary? I ask if she wants to be my friend. She says yes, so I figure who needs John when I’ve got Mary? She has supplies and weapons in her house. I tell the game I wanna pick up a knife. The game somehow interprets this as GRAB A SHOTGUN AND SHOOT MARY TWICE IN THE CHEST. I’m deleting it!

So gets a little confused sometimes
The poor little AI gets really confused sometimes. I tried to kill the king and he died but then I went downstairs to find the chefs and tell them to make me something to eat but the king was in their eating. I just killed him again and he stayed dead that time. It also gets confused over roles. Sometimes it changes your character and sometimes characters appear randomly and are talking about things that didn’t happen. I normally just tell them to heck off and that works most of the time. I use the /revert thing sometimes and for those who don’t know it’s when you type /revert and your previous action is deleted and so is the response that the AI came up with for the reaction. Whenever the AI gets confused I normally use that and try to phrase my sentence a little differently so that it might give me a better result, that works most of the time for me. Still rating 5 stars because I’m having the time of my life with this app. Hope the developers work out a few of the kinks though.

Railroaded
I’ve been playing D&D for almost 30 years. I’ve played in campaigns run by teen newbie DMs to a national winner of Iron GM, and run multiple games myself. The idea of something that just MIGHT allow for the infinite options and ideas you can run in a REAL pen and paper game rather than the multiple choice you’re limited to in games like the Baldur’s Gate series and related (which is still pretty awesome and I spent MONTHS playing them all now that they’ve been ported to iOS) had me really excited... but multiple start attempts turned me off IMMEDIATELY. I was immediately railroaded into things I DIDN’T WANT TO DO. What kind of a ranger shoots some mysteriously graceful animal right between the eyes just upon SEEING it? I was never asked my gender and another one a woman kept coming on to me and trying to seduce me, no mater how much I kept typing I was a heterosexual GIRL. It doesn’t ACTUALLY let you DO things if it’s taking actions FOR you. You should never control your player’s ACTIONS (unless a charm spell or the like), you REACT to what the player does. You can’t be forcing their hand and yet declaring they can do anything they want. In some I’d type something and it quickly brushed it off and went right back to TELLING me what I did. Already deleting it, and I had such high hopes...

The five stars are only to get the devs attention
I just wanna say I am having fun with this app from time to time, but after a few months away from this app I came back to it and noticed an issue with it, whenever I try to make a response or when I can’t I’ll just hit the arrow for the game to continue the story itself, in the past it would make a different response and if I didn’t like the response I would retry and it would do something different. However, since I came back anytime I send a response and so on, the ai will send a message and if I hit retry, it would send the same message again or a similar one. It’s annoying and kinda breaks the story that I’m trying to play, so if the devs read this please tell that there’s gonna be some kind of fix or at least an in game way of fixing it. Anyway that’s my review so if any of the devs see this please know I have nothing but love for this app and I want to see it improve so please give my review a hearing.

Awesome!
I absolutely love this game. Ai adventure games are my favorite and this is the best one I have seen. The NSFW filter is also great. I love creating my own scenarios and playing different adventures. My only issue is that I feel like I can’t play too many. I’ve created a few, and I’m sure it’s not a lot, but I hate scrolling through so many different adventures. It would be cool if they had a feature where you could remove adventures from the Recently Played section and move them to somewhere else like a Finished section or something where you could put any adventures you are done with or aren’t going to play for a while. I also had an idea that isn’t important or necessary, but I would like to see. I might spend a lot of energy doing something but later regret doing those decisions and undo them, but I still lost the energy. I wish that when I undid a decision it would give me some energy back. Other than that, 10/10 recommend

It’s okay.
The app itself is okay, I find it’s a nice way to pass time and unleash my creativity, and also to relax myself after a hard day. The AI can be quite nonsensical at times, forgetting important details I’ve wrote and at times just doing something completely unrelated to the storyline. So at times I would have to refresh a lot until it comes up with something that sounds good enough and actually makes sense, which is about 6-10 refreshes, and sometimes more. Which leads me to my next issue, the newest update. I do miss the energy system, and prefer it over the new ads. The ads are quite annoying to say the least, sometimes it gives me up to four ads. By the time I even finish getting the AI to say something that somewhat makes sense, it’s time for the ads. I feel like the amount of actions you can do should be changed to where it’s much more than it is now, or you should have a fixed amount of time for an ad break (like every 10 mins a certain amount of ads may play, perhaps?). Overall, it’s an okay app.

Old Days
I don’t know what happened. Maybe they just want more premium users, but the free version used to be a lot better. The AI right now, Griffin, has been downgraded or something. Griffin used to be able to read a basic conversation. Now any command longer than 10 words confuses it like a preschooler. Not to mention it confusing you, the character, with people who aren’t you. Or making “You” a character. I understand that it’s a robot and needs to be guided, but lately I’m doing a lot more and getting a lot less out of it. I’ve tried the premium AI, Dragon, and it does work better. The issue is that Griffin seems to have suffered from its counterpart by becoming a worse product. I still like this game and it’s concepts, but something has got to give on regards to the Griffin AI. Premium for Dragon is not really all that worth it. $10 a month is a bit steep for an upgrade. Not to mention the interface changes have made the game stutter on occasion. Nothing a restart can’t fix. Before my current gripes I’d give this game a 3.5 maybe a 4, but the devs need to take Griffin to school or something.

I had always want to play a game like this since I like role-playing because it’s fun! Which may be part of my hoobies. And this is my first time playing it. So I really give it some five stars, this game is very creative and cool!!! 😭😭 You can even make your role play more fun by making up other characters that you want. But fr, this game is amazing 😎🤪!! It’s wayyy better than replika and chai, I recommend you to play this! But about the safe mode thingy, I suggest for kids not to play it, so they should have strict mode. 😬 But for me I use moderate even though I’m 16, but I’m mature and sometimes, role playing needs some actions or excitement to make sense if you know what I mean, lol. Other than that, you should download it, I first saw it and I thought it would be just a boring game but it won’t be lame until you try it!! Creators, please don’t delete this game or make any changes to it or the settings, this game is awesome!!!!

Great, but bound to have bugs
I cannot fathom how hard it was to script this game and for that reason I have a lot of respect for it. I obviously have no familiarity with coding so I’m just gonna tell you an example of a bug that was I was in a meeting with three people (not including myself), I had been playing relatively normally and thought it would be funny if I randomly did something super off beat, so I killed one of them. The two other guys looked at me as I dropped a cheesy one-liner “yall gonna clean up this mess or do you wanna be a part of it”. One said nothing so I killed him too. The other ran out, leaving me alone in the room. Then suddenly the AI said a random dude said “we need to leave” apparently some guy named John had just appeared. Too some it up the game jumps to conclusions without really announcing it. Also the game will make me do things I don’t want to do like leave a room when I wasn’t done talking to some one.

It’s a great game but..
I hope y’all can set up a way for the AI to remember more like what your race or gender was what weapons you have or armor in some fantasy cases. I just hope you guy will be able to come up with something maybe adding some sort of inventory option with spots to put armor in or bags or weapons even race traits or put in all your own spells with descriptions i understand it’s an AI generated world but at least if we had that the AI wouldn’t for get who we were, what we were, and what our name is I’m no expert but I feel like the AI would have an easier time with this stuff if you could do something like this. I love this and want to keep playing it but it’s not just me who has this problem but some of my stories have broken because of it. I would like someone to respond to me so Ik that we aren’t just sending in reviews for nothing but I appreciate the work you all do and love the updates and events you bring I would just like to see someone respond to me and other people who send in reviews.

Amazing! But one issue....
This game is absolutely amazing and so much fun to play with. But the one issue is that the A.I. Will go to continue the story and like start the continuation off with a good start but the it just turns the story around and confuses me. Like this one part I told it “stab the man” then the A.I. continued the story with something along the lines like “you grab your knife and stab the man.” The it ended that paragraph and continued part of the story again with something along the lines like “the man turns around to look at what’s happened and realized what’s happened. He laughs then picks up your knife and starts stabbing you with it again.” And then it said more stuff but can’t exactly remember. I don’t know if you can fix the A.I. so it doesn’t completely reverse the story and actually go along with what it previously said or what but if you can fix it please do! It’s just annoying trying to keep track of what’s going on in my story. Other than that I really love using this.

It’s alright
I had the app in the past and it worked fine. Sometimes the AI would switch my story a lot but I could always go back and edit it. I deleted it eventually for whatever reason. But recently I’ve been making my own characters, and I’ve been reading wattpad stories so I could imagine them doing things in my head. But that wasn’t my own story, and I remembered this app was a thing so I installed it again. I’m kind of disappointed though because it worked a lot better in the past versions, now that my writing has improved a lot I feel like it doesn’t understand my stories lol. And for some reason whenever I want to type in an action, my keyboard covers the text box so I can’t see what I’m writing which is very annoying. And also, the AI always says it doesn’t know what to say, even when I say the most simple action like, “you walk downstairs.” Or something. I’m not sure if everyone else has the keyboard issue but that’s the most annoying, so please fix it! But other than that it’s fun.

The ai has seemingly gotten worse over the years
I’ve been using ai dungeon since around it came out, about 3 or 2 years ago. This is honestly a great app for diving into whatever text based adventures you have in your mind, but the quality of responses that I’ve been getting has gone down a bit. I’m using dragon 2.1, and quite frequently on default settings, I will have words repeated and poor grammar throughout the responses. This has never happened to me until recently, though granted I do have the context length maxed out on 2k, but even when everything is completely default, the Ai just can’t seem to figure out what it wants to say without a few retries. What the Ai is capable of doing is incredible, but the fact that it did better a year ago compared to today is quite concerning. Not to mention new bugs popping in and mildly annoying the general experience, like not getting a response and having to exit the game and come back in, I hope that the developer can straighten out his/her team.

Very good and customizable
It has so much potential for any story or self made dnd style story how you can basically make your own world where you can be or do anything you can imagine it’s very customizable you can play worlds that have been made so the story is already driven toward what your looking for and it’s has bugs every now and then but that’s mostly user error in my experience I have had entire 37 page story’s that evolve into anything you can imagine or want. So overall I love this app if you play games to get away from life and do things you can’t or aren’t brave enough, ect to do then this is for you and the so will also do lots so it’s not full your choice with makes it better in my opinion but if you don’t like what the air put your can undo and wait until it makes a good sentence that satisfies you or you can just write it the possibilities are nearly endless.

Warning: Read before you download
Let me preface this by saying I was a long term user as well as premium subscription user for many months. As of today the developers saw fit to instill a new “Stamina Bar” structure to the app that involves In app purchases ( that are one time use items) to get more time to play. This is a common structure to games that have free versions ( even though this game was a very good free game at first with no ads or anything), and despite being a bad structure in my mind, I can see the need for it to try and make more money on a free app. HOWEVER, the main issue I have with this is that they are forcing even their premium subscribers to do this. So not only are you paying monthly for a premium subscription, you are having your play time limited by the developers and still have to buy In-App purchases to play more. This is beyond a joke. This would be the same as buying a Netflix month subscription and then finding out you can only watch one hour of shows and then you have to wait for 8 hours for your stamina bar to refill ( the developers stated the bar takes 8 hours to refill).

Great story Writing App
After the login issue was fixed I’ve now changed my review to 5 star I really believe this is a good application for writing stories with, working with the AI and my own imagination can come up with some pretty crazy stories and I love it, it’s great for writers who are descriptive and know how to progress a real story, a lot of the time people use this for memes and or don’t write as fluently and think the AI is terrible when it’s actually just writing in a way you would write, I get what I desire from the stories I create with this application, my first book I ever wrote when I was younger was 18 pages long so I’ve had some practice, I know how a story should progress and what should happen next so it works very well for me, even though it’s a bit off in most cases refreshing gives me the options I would have never thought of in a way to further my stories adventures.

I love this app, don’t get me wrong...
...it’s great, it’s really well put together and despite the occasional drop in the ai’s attention span it seems to do really well. My problem isn’t the app, but rather the developers behind it. I understand they have their intentions and all of them are good, but they’ve censored the ai and in such a way that has caused the ai to completely stop at certain intervals. For example, I was doing a DOOM themed run with my own custom world info and everything. I had gotten pretty far in but then the update that censored the AI was put in, and doing something as small as trying to kill something at times became impossible for some reason. Or alternatively anything involving anything that COULD be a minor is stopped as well. Understandably, of course- there are many things that some people do with the ai that should be frowned upon. But why stunt the ai over it? Why not forcefully teach the ai that *that* specific stuff is wrong? I love Ai Dungeon and I’ll continue to use it, but if this issue persists it will become harder to use this without frustration.

Spectacular concept... Poor execution
I absolutely loved the idea of having a complex AI model predict and adapt to your story accordingly. However, this is not what i experienced throughout my time using this app. I was excited yet skeptical at first. Then, when it was responding to what i was saying, the idea of endless possibilities and creating my own story became invigorating. However, it was short lived. The AI began repeating itself, and events, and introductions like a broken record. And it doesn't go along with the story. If i try to, for example being a detective, call dispatch to report a dead body, it calls dispatch. Great so far. Then i ask them to send a forensics team. The AI would say okay go on saying after an hour dispatch calls you again cause they found another body and the forensics team is there. Thats not good. It doesnt go along with what i had initially asked it to. If i try correcting the path of my story it ends up starting with introduction again! This ai is broken its not working like its supposed to or as advertised. I love the concept but work on making the ai flexible and understanding the events happening.

It’s a trip
Literally anything can happen. The game doesn’t hold back. The AI can actually be really creative and smart to the point of it being creepy. Like usually when you die in a story that’s game over but sometimes you’ll wake up in some kind of afterlife or bizarre alien dimension. In one detective run I did I kept wondering why I could never get a game over when I died when I realized I was trapped in some kind of weird purgatory and a deity called “Detective Miller” kept appearing. He said weird cryptic things like “I don’t know why people call me god. I’m just a guy who woke up one day and decided to exist”. He also kept trying to lecture me about his brother Jack who worked at a bar. It was some weird lecture about how I’d never worked a day in my life and referenced the very beginning of the game when I was just messing around and shooting things. Only after he’d finished scolding me was the game allowed to come to an end. 10/10 great game

get rid of the ads!
the ads pop up after every option and for what? sometimes it’ll say ad next after EVERY new story update and then i’m in the loop where i get an ad right after each other and then before you know it; i’ve spent minutes trying to just play my story! it was so much better without the ads and i just don’t understand what “reward” i’m getting when it says “rewarded earned” or whatever it is that it says. this is so sad to me and frustrating because i LOVE this app, but the ads have made it unplayable and unenjoyable. update; so i bought a package and it’s like 15 a week which is a little 😣and i don’t think i can afford it anymore so i’m going to cancel it soon, but i’ve come to the conclusion that the energy bar was way better than the ads!! it was better for me to buy more energy as opposed to subscribing and going through ongoing payments. i would love to see the energy bar back!! i love the game and the ads have really ruined it, and i understand the need for it, however i think the energy bar is better for the players in the charge aspect!!

Very skilled AI but game design could use some work
I just got this game last night, and stayed up late trying to push the AI to it’s limits. In the fantasy ranger story, I was able to start a family, raise a dragon, and take over the world in the name of my fallen dryad companion. And after dying at age 138, I continued to live in the castle as a ghost for another 206 years. The ai handled it very well. I can see myself having lots of fun on this app in the future. I do have one problem with it though; your stories are limited by “charge” and you have to wait for the game to recharge before you can continue the story. I don’t think that this feature should be taken out completely, but maybe the undo button would back some charge, or a new story would have a new charge. This game is so good, that I want to spend the long, uneventful hours playing it, but I have to wait.

Be carful, don’t lose yourself.
The first time I picked up this game was a while ago and I only recently decided to write a review. The AI used to forget what the story was and what the player looked like ex:(if you where a big bad wolf, any npcs would treat you as a normal person because the AI forgot that you where a big bad wolf.) this has since been fixed and if you describe you character the AI will now remember it with a higher level of precision. The only problem I have with the AI is that it loves to throw random encounters into play rather then doing world building or character development. Now I am not a software engineer but world building seams like a tall order form an AI so they get a pass on that. Over all I would highly recommend this game, but be carful you might find yourself in the same position as I did. 5% battery life and a difference of 2 hours from first picking up the phone.

Less Bugs Please
I just started using the app and am currently in the free trial for the Champion tier. I’ve had the app for only a couple days, but I’ve had a couple paragraphs that disappear after posting them. And a lot of the times if my iPhone tilts to the side the Version information pops up and there’s no way to get out of it. I have to close the app and reopen. This has happened 3 times in the last ten minutes. The other issue, which may just be how AI is currently, is that when I hit continue two or three times in a row, sometimes it’ll just repeat the same paragraph with only a few different words or the sentences rearranged. At this point I hit the retry button or edit it myself. I’ve enjoyed some other people’s storylines and my own is coming along. I think it’ll get even better as I learn more about the usage, though some of the settings could use more detail or explanation.

This game changed a lot
I feel as though I can’t do anything anymore for some reason you used to be able to do so much more in this game but everything I try to do it says to try and take it in a different direction? Like for instance I tried to talk to a teacher or a class mate in one of my games and no matter what I did it would repeat that one sentence for me to try and take it in a different direction but no matter what I did it wouldn’t work wether it was SFW or NSFW it’s just not letting me do anything anymore it’s honestly very annoying to see how much you can’t do in it anymore, it’s a little upsetting but I used to enjoy it so much more before they got rid of the explore option they had with the custom stories that where made by people that so many different and diverse ways to make their stories, and I miss those days because after that I couldn’t do anything in the game.

Work with it, but it’s worth it
AI Dungeon is probably some of the most impressive technology I’ve seen in awhile. Be warned: this is the first attempt at something like this so it’s FAR from perfect. But the amount of times that the AI does get things right, tells incredible stories, responds organically, remembers things, and writes text/dialog that seems straight from the source material or written by a human makes all that time you spend sifting through the nonsense replies well worth it. Take some time to pay attention to the developers tips, write in second person, use the different interactions (say, do, story), smash that undo button if things don’t make sense, and try out people’s scenarios or make a own custom one in your favorite universe. I’m very excited to see where this tech goes in the next 5 years but this is already something we’d call impossible like a decade ago.

New update.
I’ve had this game for years, redownloaded it and uninstalled it and it’s one of my favorite pass times. But one thing ticks me off. The update. This has been around for maybe a couple months to a year, a limited amount of plays were added. Maybe 20 per actions and then you’d have to pay or watch ads to continue. This is the most irritating feature I’ve ever experienced and is the only thing that makes me want to delete and erase the app in its whole experience. It limits the amount of time and patience I have, having to watch ads to play is simply too little. It would be reasonable if it was 300 actions, its more of a thoughtful amount because it gives people the chance to play for maybe one to two hours instead of getting interrupted every five minutes. It would be better if they tried advertising a different way, an ad to see community stories/adventures/etc. instead of actions, that way it doesn’t interrupt the story, just the process of creating one. It would be better that way and less irritating.

The Game
Your game is extremely good. It’s actually one of the best games I’ve ever played. The potential of this game is massive, and I mean huge. There’s so much that you can do with this game. The suggestion I would like to give to you guys is that just spread the variety even farther, because you never know what people want to do in these types of games. And make the events that happens after the player types in what they want to do more specific, which is probably what you guys are doing right now. I just hope y’all don’t have adds when you guys gain popularity, because that’s what has gotten me away from a lot of games. Like BitLife, it was fun until they had adds. Just please, find some way to gain money, but not change the way the game works drastically. I hope y’all have a good future with this game. I really enjoy it and I’ll definitely share it with my friends. Thanks.

Very good App and Game
The creativity for this game still boggles my mind. The AI is pure genius idea. The system does need work and the developers and team is constantly bringing more to the updates than patches to bugs and other problems. With each update I feel like the game opens up to even more possibilities and is even more flexible. I can play hours on this game if I could and come up many stories and go on any adventure I want. The game is still evolving and grow each day and each week, so by no means is it perfect, but the place where it is now is absolutely amazing. The freedom I get through the AI is everything I love about this App. It give you the choice to be whoever you want and to interact however you want where ever you want. I would recommend this to any number of my friend, if only they wouldn’t mind reading. 🤗

A dramatic fall from grace
I remember starting to play this game around early 2020. The concept of a story-making app that practically writes itself was mind blowing. I spent hours, easily, just messing with the possibilities, and even coming up with my own little comedic miniseries that I could read out to my friends. However, the game hasn’t gotten better since that beautiful time. In fact, it’s had quite a fall. The developers, despite their efforts, kept adding poorly thought-out features such as the new UI, on top of the removal of the Explore page and the implementation of a poorly designed censorship system that could result in you receiving a temporary ban for even the most ridiculous reasons. I’m top of that, the people over in Latitude seem disconnected from their community. Or, at the very least, not taking the most common complaints to heart. All in all, AI Dungeon has become a shell of what it once was. It really does make me sad to see this, and I really do want to see this game improve. There’s great potential here. Please, Latitude, listen to the fans.

Great technology, garbage privacy
The text generating AI is an amazing, new technology that will certainly be a generational leap in the coming years. I had a lot of fun writing stories with the AI. The app itself is fantastic and I’m looking forward to the innovations in gaming, writing, and all sorts of applications GPT-3 will bring. I wouldn’t be surprised if the AI passes a turing test soon Minus 2 stars for the infringement on privacy. The company’s employees will read through your personal stories if certain flags are triggered. So even if there’s a false flag, they will still read through your personal stuff. Furthermore, data breaches means everybody’s personal stories are out there for some hacker to read. I would not recommend writing anything in the app you are not comfortable having others read. Since fictional writing is a creative and frequently personal hobby, good luck feeling creative if stranger employees and hackers are figuratively looking over your shoulder

A reasonable review
I’ve played this game for 5 hours straight now and it works. Most of the time. First, the immersion will have to be your own doing, because the A.I. will have trouble staying on the story that you’re currently on (other reviews show examples). So the entire time you’re desperately trying to make the story seem understandable and linear. Basically telling the A.I. the story IT created. Second, after about two hours into the app, you run into its “stamina bar”. After so many responses you have to pay to “recharge”, and there is also a premium version that still has this “feature”, regardless if you’re paying a subscription. Third and final, this game can be one of the best games on the App Store. It just needs work. A lot of work. Beautiful concept and endless possibilities, but lack execution. I think giving it a three star is a good review, because no matter how much I like this game, I have to rate it on its performance.
