Garage door openers new style belt driven!
I recently installed three of the new Aladdin belt, driven garage door openers. I can’t believe the difference in all the new technology they have. They are so quiet you hardly hear them open, and the features with the remote app for your phone is excellent and you can always open the garage door with your phone with the new features of tripping the lights when you walk in the lights, LEDs are a lot brighter altogether day, and night difference between the old ones that I had, which were about 15 years old and the new ones, but the old one served me well I must admit the quality was there to make them last! Keep up the good product and people keep buying!!👍

Constantly having to reprogram
Idk if this is an app issue or equipment issue. I call and am told its app or that I should disconnect my door for 3 days and call back. There needs to be an override to the disabled status. The app itself is easy to use but the install text is not accurate in the beginning of the install set up. The Retrofit software and equipment is a pain for sure. Shows door status is online, wifi excellent. Shows signal strong, status connected and battery level is good. Yet the door is disabled constantly and must reprogram each time. Using the wall control doesn’t change it from being disabled. Also the door likes to open on its own continually and always shows it is opened via Local when no one has accessed it. Checked wires they are tight, checked garage sensors, there is no obstruction. Multiple times the door has opened and closed repeatedly (I have it set to close after 20 min) in the middle of the night while we are sleeping, sometimes during the daytime after we leave for school and work or while we are out of town. Of course the app will end up disabled and I’m left with an open garage until I can find a neighbor to close. This is frustrating.

When it works, I love it, but….
I use Aladdin Connect to control 3 new Genie openers. When this app works, I like it very much and it can be very useful. However, in the week or so that I’ve been using it, various repeating app errors cause me to question its reliability. I have a reliable wifi mesh system with a wifi AP in my garage about 15 feet away. This AP has a strong connection back to the rest of the mesh. All the door sensors have line-of-sight to the Aladdin DCM. Approximately 75% of the time the app works as advertised. But for the other 25% of the time, 3 app errors tend to reoccur. The most prevalent error is cluster_max_load, next is a generic “something went wrong” dialog and finally occasionally all my doors temporarily disappear from the app. The app does not work at all when any of these 3 errors occur. Even when the app is functional, it often continues to show that a door is still in the process of completing a request 3-5 minutes after successfully opening or closing a door. As things currently stand, I’m not confident that this app will work when I really need it. Update: now all my door activity history is missing along with all my configuration (rules and additional users, etc.) Emailed support 24 hours ago and am awaiting their reply. Changed rating down to 2 stars.

Randomly goes offline
When it works it’s great. I’m able to let my housekeeper in via my phone. However it has randomly gone offline three times in the last three months. Most recently twice this week. The first time I went through all the steps to reconnect, but it never did. I finally gave up and thought we would never be able to use this app to open it and then it suddenly starts working again for no reason. Now this week it’s randomly gone off-line …it’ll come back on and then a day later I noticed I’m not getting notifications and it’s off-line. Calling the company is completely useless because they just have you try to go through the steps to reset it to Wi-Fi, which is obviously not the issue if it can randomly come on and off by itself. Update: it’s been several months since I’ve written this review and I’m still having the same problem goes on and off line for no reason whatsoever.

Needs improvements, not reliable
I am really stressed with this app. My home is entirely automated, I changed my old motors to this new one thinking they would be better but they are not, the wifi and app technology is horrible. The app is Impossible to use and it does not work all the time, it is REALLY slow to open and close the doors (almost 45 seconds to take the action) their server has issues all the time which makes their app insanely slow always loading, since I installed it and created a login I keep seeing a pop message: “cluster_max_load” (badly develop app/back end service) and that the service cannot connect at this time. How can I trust it to open my doors??! So disappointed. I tested through 4g, and all my different wifi networks. Terrible experience so far, not working. it connects but shows unknown status most of the times. After hours, finally works for some time and the garage door finally communicates, most of the time their server is not responding, which makes me affraid about their infrastructure.

Most unreliable app ever released
I bought 2 expensive garage openers with with a smartphone app for 3 reasons: safety, security, reliability. The app has been completely unreliable which compromises security and my family’s safety. After having old school remotes stolen out of a vehicle and other property stolen as a result, I bought these openers because of this highly rated app with positive reviews. My experience has been just the opposite. The Siri Shortcuts quit working at random times, have to be deleted and reconnected almost weekly. Since the latest update the doors will open but the app shows they timed out. The app then does not reset. The e only solution from Genie was to delete the app, restart my internet and completely repeat the setup, a process that takes an hour from start to finish. To the developers: put your updates through more rigorous beta testing and fix these glitches before pushing out the release. Securing people’s lives and property demands nothing less!

Be careful if you have multiple locations- still a problem
You can’t segregate the locations. I’ve accidentally opened my son’s door several times until he locked me out. Now I went with Aladdin again and it keeps happening. Sometimes when I just put it in my pocket the open button in the wrong location accidentally gets pressed. I wish Aladdin would allow us to set up separate locations. I’ve set up to alert me when this happens, but the app fails to do that. I wish I had gone with another company. Still no solution with multiple locations. Why can’t Aladdin do something simple like add an optional pin to prevent accidental openings. Something needs to be done because it is a security risk. I don’t know why it opens because I close the app after using. Could it be a bug in the software??? Will I have to scrap one of my openers? I wish genie could give me an answer.

Enjoyed the App for the first year
I have 2 Genie Model 2128 openers and both have worked flawlessly for a year. They continue to work with the wall button and the car remotes. Both stopped working correctly the same day with Aladdin Connect. I've called Customer Support multiple times with the same results... a higher level of support will call you back.. at times being told with 48 hours others have said 24 hours.. it's coming up to a month now and still no call! If you intend to buy Genie Openers like the 2128 I hope your experience is better than mine. When the App works it's great when it breaks don't count on Customer Support to be there for you.

Don’t waste your money on Aladdin
Recently I purchased a new genie garage door opener with the Aladdin option. Since day one it has not functioned properly. After our garage door has been opened we can not close it with our keypad, fobs or our home connect in our vehicles. We can how ever close it with the Aladdin app on our phone. I have also noticed that if the lights on the garage door opener have timed out and turned off then we can close the door with our fobs, keypad and home connect. I have tried calling support multiple times and still have not spoke to anyone. They tell you they will call you when next operator is available but you better have your phone ready. When they called It rings once and they are gone. I have since disconnected opener from WiFi and deleted app. Door works fine now. It’s a good idea but definitely needs improvement.

The worst app I’ve ever seen
Just bought new Genie looking forward to using this app. Connected backwards, app command to close door when door was already closed and visa versa, when open command to open, tech support had me up on a ladder taking cover off to pull wires to reset…seriously? But I did it, helped until next morning, checked the app, shows offline, and will not reconnect, I have a mesh network and 5G they said app needs 2.4? Get real… what a disaster and a disappointment in Genie, waiting to see how this will shake out in the end. I’ll update Update - the next morning the app was offline, pretty much wrote this off, deleted the app, well called tech support this am reinstalled app, changed password too, and somehow it connected to my mesh network and seems to be functioning properly, tech Kayla was very friendly and supportive, ran a couple checks seems to be ok now, time will tell, still shouldn’t be this difficult.

Garage door & app are excellent!
Wow! I’m so impressed by how easy it was to install the Genie 3155D smart garage opener. The seamless customer journey between the hardware install to the application setup and usage is top tier product strategy, design, and development. You can tell the Genie product teams are collaborating very well by how easy a DIY install of two garage door openers and mobile connection setup using the app all happened within 3 hours this afternoon. I’m not a pro, but the process was smooth, everything worked, and I found value in every feature of the hardware and the mobile application. Keep up the great work Genie product teams! You guys are killing it. I don’t work for Genie BTW :)

App not working properly since last update
Since the last update 2 weeks ago the app has been malfunctioning. I have verified that my wifi is working properly. I have tested multiple devices and internet speed apps to ensure I have a proper connection. The Aladdin genie unit is showing a green light in the top right corner which indicates it is connected. Initially it will show the app is working and the current status of the garage door as showing closed or open. When you try to open or close the garage, it changes to a wifi icon that is grayed out with a line through it and showing offline. I just checked and my genie is showing a green light that indicates the unit is connected to my wifi. I am on my wifi as I write this review. Please remedy the issue as you don’t want anyone to get locked out of their house due to the fact that they may an extra lock on their front door. Thank you!

Great jackshaft openers with a very solid app!
After running in to all sorts of issues with the competition’s jackshaft openers (lack of tension leading to catastrophic and irreplaceable plastic gear failure, anyone?!) and their remotes and app repeatedly failing me, I decided I’d be giving the Genie solution a try at my new house. It probably goes without saying based on my star rating, but I couldn’t be happier. The two openers are quieter and more consistent than what I had before and the app has performed flawlessly when operating without my Homelink remotes from my vehicles. I didn’t even bother with a number pad outside of the doors because this software works so consistently and seamlessly. 👌🏻

Quick thoughts 3 years in
I’ve been really pleased with the Aladdin app. At first, I was concerned because it didn’t seem to stay connected after every few weeks. Those bugs have been worked out and it maintains communication with my Wi-Fi and the units well. I have two garage doors and two separate units and it’s very responsive and simple user interface. It be nice to see more features and functionality added to it. It does not work well with my Alexa, but that’s probably an Alexa problem because Alexa doesn’t work well with much of anything. I’m happy with it. I’ve recommended it to others. my only complaint is I would love to see more features for the price you pay for these things.

Alladen app
So far so good. Only two times did we have a problem with WiFi not getting the command to close . Not sure what the issue was. It eventually I did get the command and I was notified of the door closing as commanded. And the app shows at what time it closed. The best feature is you can set a count down also called a rule to close after certain amount of time or a rule to close if the door is open from a set time period ie(close door after an hour or what ever amount of time or close if door is open between day 8 am to 10 pm) very user friendly

Currently Locked Out of My House Because This App Blows
Recently discovered the partner app for my garage door opener - so I got it installed and ready to go. It’s worked decently well for the past few weeks, and figured while guests are staying over I’ll give them my spare key and use the garage opener app. Lo and behold, the ONE TIME I need it to work because both my partner and guest are visiting people, the app doesn’t work and displays this nonsensical “status unknown” icon on my door. I should be able to establish whether or not the door is open manually, and reset from a distance if needed. Now I’m waiting down the street on the patio of a closed taqueria for someone to get home so I can re-enter my house… Definitely don’t rely on this app, if I weren’t a large man I’d feel very unsafe right now, and I wouldn’t want someone to be put in danger because this app doesn’t have any failsafes.

Backend system is very unreliable
Twice in the past month (that I know of) their backend system was down. Not a WiFi issue. I can’t even logout if the app because their entire system is down. Can’t rely on this as a way to get in and out of your house. I’ve been a loyal customer of Aladdin for 30yrs and this is the first Major issue I’ve had with them. Was a great company, but has no idea how to run the IT infrastructure for a smart home device. Yes, I work in an IT Infrastructure dept for a Fortune 100 Co. This would not fly where I work! Update from developer: system is back up. Can we get an explanation as to what happened and what is being implemented to mitigate this from happening again please? “Sorry officer, I’m going the speed limit now” doesn’t quite cut it. We pay $$ for your product, we deserve to know what happened.

So far so good. But so far to go...
Just installed new garage door opener. This app was one of the deciding factors. All works as advertised. But I have to say there is so much more to expect! Where is the obvious CarPlay integration? I mean where would it most make sense to want to open my garage door with a phone app? How about FROM MY CAR?! I thought, ok, well perhaps I can easily open it via my AppleWatch? Um, no. Can’t do that either. Seriously it’s not like these are totally new technologies... at this point you have to wonder why even go through the trouble of creating the app in the first place? So fed up with the support. Just want to simply add open and close garage door to Shortcuts to automate or enable Siri. Nope. Can’t do that either... of course not. What’s up guys? Still back in 2007 in your programming skills?

Good App That Hasn’t Seen It’s Full Potential Yet
This app, along with the Connect system is a fantastic way to make your garage door smart without having shell out for monthly fees just to use your own door. The app is clean and well made, and the only real complaint I have is that it does not support Siri, Shortcuts, or Widgets. Drivers should be able to say “Hey Siri, open my garage door” instead of having to pull out their phones while driving and navigating to the app. Or at the very least allow for a Watch app so I can do it on my wrist. It’s literally the one thing that would make this app complete and bring it to a full five stars for me. I’m very eager for the day when Genie finally adds this functionality to the app.

Works great… when you’re at home…
… but then I could just peek in the garage to see if the garage door is open or not. The idea of this app was to monitor the garage door status remotely. But this app doesn’t have enough sense to switch to cellular data when the home WiFi is out of range. Instead it gives a error message stating “server is not available “. If you select “More Info” you get a page of text about setting up your WiFi connection. Actually you get the middle of a page. You can’t scroll up or down or even close the page. It’s a dead end. The only way to exit is to swipe the app from memory. And you still don’t know if your friggin’ door is open or not. So just plan on driving back home when in doubt.

Seems to work but…issues in app and support response
I have this set up on two garage doors at a remote location. The application seemed to work at first, but over the past 2-3 months, I am flooded with notifications through the app that my garage doors are constantly closing. Since I am managing these doors remotely.. this kind of freaks me out.. makes me not trust the notifications at all and I have had to have people go over to the place and verify the doors are closed. I have reached out to support via phone and email and got no help. Via phone I was told ‘oh that’s just the developers testing something and working on a fix’.. Sorry.. but the production environment is not where you are supposed to test something! I would love to leave a good rating but can’t due to these issues that remain to be an issue.

It’s just reliable enough to never trust it
At least half the time I look at this app, it tells me my opener is offline. When I go look at the opener, it shows connected to my WiFi. If I mess around in the app for a minute, it will re-connect and work just fine. Just now I walked out to my garage and pressed the button to manually open the door. Several minutes later and the app still shows “closed” even though it IS connected. Of all the smart home stuff I have installed, this one is the most unreliable one I have.

This update essentially doesn’t work with Siri
I’ve had the app for a long time. And I always used it with Siri, especially when my car is in the shop and I have a loaner. This has been the case this past week. The app was working fine when I would get in the car and leave. Then I would just say “Siri close garage door”. Now after the update it tells me that I am logged out for security. So I take my eyes off the road to open my phone, look for app and open it. Then it works with Siri. But that defeats the purpose. I might as well just push the close from the app. Please fix this bug in the app. Version 6.22 build 233 It was working fine before

Genie 7155 smart garage door opener
Last year I purchased a Chamberlain garage door opener that featured their MyQ smart system. The opener was hindered by RF interference. The installation and adjustment was cumbersome. I had to constantly reset/reprogram the MyQ accessories. A nightmare. Then, a few months ago I noticed how quiet a friend’s Genie garage door opener was. I purchased the Genie 7155-TKV Smart Garage Door Opener. It was easy to install and adjust. I can open the garage door from the keypad, the push button remote, my phone and even Alexa. I haven’t had the opportunity to test the backup battery yet, but thus far I’m very pleased with the quality, performance and reliability of the Genie 7155-TKV.

App needs work
The app cannot properly detect if my garage door is closed or open. I am using opener model 1155. I command it to close an open door. The app says command accepted, then the door is closed after some light flashing and beeping but then I get a timeout notice on the app despite the door actually going from open to close successfully. After this I am locked out from using the opener via the app due to the prior failure and I have to remove the opener from the app and unplug the opener from the wall socket just to successfully reconnect the opener to Aladdin connect. Either my door sensor is off or this app is junk or both. I have tried reprogramming my opener and reconfiguring the down and up and force but no luck with the app. The opener works 100% fine with regular remotes and wall opener though.

Great so far
I receive it and installed it to my wall wires and works great and was easy to install, only thing I wish was it had more functions when replacing my old wall mount like being able to turn light on and off or turning until off completely like the one it replaced and also notifications are super fast but only says garage door open or closed, hope later they have time/dates added to it, other then that very happy with it I replaced this from Q and this one seems to be much quicker

Update:update broke Siri shortcut
** update: this issue appears to be fixed. Could well have something on my phone. Will continue to monitor ** Same is the others have mentioned last update broke my Siri shortcut. It was great to be able to open the garage by voice command and worked fine for a long time. Now the command no longer works since the last update. The app says I’ve been logged out. I can login again the command will work once and then I’m auto logged out again. I see this reflected in the comments from others in the thread – please fix this!!id

Super Cool !!
I went to the local hardware store to purchase yet another garage door opener, then I seen this product. After some quick math I realized that it’s more cost efficient to purchase this at $65 vs 3 $25 standard openers. After taking the product home installation took approximately an hour and the instructions were pretty clear. Once I installed everything I went to operate it and boom just like that I’m controlling my garage door using my phone via the app. This is a total game changer in our house. I would rate this for the price and ingenuity a: 9/10

Great app 1 small suggestion
Absolutely amazing garage door opener app. It does everything I would want the app to do. The User interface is gorgeous and it runs smooths like butter. However, I have one tiny suggestion. My partner and I both own the home, however, when she opens the garage door we get a notification that says, “Invitee” opened the door. It would be nice if it simply said her name rather than putting “Invitee” in front of her name. It is not a big deal at all however I thought I should just include it in my review. Overall, 5 stars!

A Must Have!
I never knew how much I wanted and needed this app until I had it. Being able to remotely open and close the garage doors at our house and the mother-in-laws house has been a life-saver. We had a keypad that never worked and she had a keypad you’d have to use in the rain. Now, we open the door before we even stop the car and are able to go right in. It also helped when my wife’s remote stopped working and she was still able to get in and out using just an app on her phone!

This app is hideous.
I have a Genie Aladdin garage door opener and a Chamberlain garage door opener for my rental. The Aladdin app is absolutely ugly and laggy on my iPhone 12 Pro. The text sizes and UI elements like buttons and icons are completely off. Text is too small and uses the weirdest text to describe the current status. “Hold to Open” relegated to an oddly sized button inside of the garage object is so clunky and prone to error. The buttons presented once you select the garage is oddly ordered “Add to Siri” is the first button?!? Why are they so large? Why are you using this large rounded rectangle and caret for the button style here?? Get your designers to spend 30 mins reviewing ANY other modern smart home apps and give them some time to fix this ugly ugly app.

Great App. But
The alladin app is great while it lasted but the Wi-Fi function of the “smart” garage opener stopped working after about a week of daily use. Wouldn’t connect the phone to its own WiFi network after multiple attempt to power cycle router opener and phones. I give up. So is it worth the trouble to call customer support or possible repair or reinstall? Probably not if the door can still be opened by remotes. At least the remote still works. This is the review for the app so it’s still getting 4 stars. Not that I need it anymore since my smart garage opener has become not so smart.

Aladdin connection app
Recently received an email saying that the App had upgraded the Wi-Fi connections. Since I purchased the garage door openers months ago I never was able to get the app to work properly. I thought it was due to my Wi-Fi being old and outdated. Since the email I tried again to connect and was surprised that it connected. I finished the start up and everything works perfectly now. It is really nice to be able to open the garage doors remotely when needed. Very pleased with operation.

Bad terms of use.
You must agree that Genie can start charging you to use the app at any time they want for an amount that they choose and under any terms they choose. You must agree that they can start charging you a monthly fee to use the features that you bought their opener for. First sell the product, then once you have the money, start charging a monthly fee to keep using it. Genie hasn’t done this yet and hopefully they are not unethical enough to do it— but they make you agree that they have that right to, and that makes me wonder why. Arlo nearly tripled its monthly fee a year after I bought their camera, so I am waiting to see if Genie has the same business model. I hope you are better than that Genie.

Does the job, but there’s so much more potential
You can set “rules” to close but no scheduling options for opening, which is kind of a bummer. Also any time the network resets or gaps while it tries to open it essentially disconnects and I have to just remove the door from the app and connect it to WiFi again from scratch. When it gets stuck from snow or otherwise it tells you to cycle the door before being able to use the app button again. That has worked less than half the time, most of the time it’s the same workaround I mentioned with the network disconnect.

Not as flexible as MyQ
3 stars for initial impressions. Setup took 4 retries to get it to show online even after green light (means WIFI connected). Also the rules are not as good as MyQ. You can only know when door is opened. Either for a specific time length or during a window (say at night when it should not be open). Only knowing if opened is half the picture. I like to know when it closes too. Maybe I am at work. Door opens more than 5 minutes - Notify. - but also if it closes after total of 6 minutes - Notify so I know it’s closed. I also close the door and drive away. As I’m a block away, my phone chirps letting me know door is closed (and stayed closed and didn’t reopen by accident). It is really useful to hear that chirp and peace of mind. Otherwise you have to open app to see status of door.

Rules Notifications do not work
I bought this opener for one main reason: I kept leaving my garage door open (moved to new home, routine change etc etc). I wanted a garage door opener I can activate & check remotely as well as one that will warn me if it is left open. They have rules which you can set up to notify if door has been open for a predetermined period of time, and it will even close itself if you set up a rule for it. The rules do not work. Yes, I can check the door status remotely if I remember to check it and close it if needed but I was really hoping for a notification based on the rules I set up. In an unrelated review, I give 5 Stars to Dynamic Brain memory supplements 🤣🤣

Works Sporadically
When the app works - it works really well. However it sporadically stops working. It was a bit scary when - in the middle of the night - I got an alert saying my garage door was opened (luckily it was not ) only to be followed by a closed alert 30 minutes later. These alerts come after a day of the app not working and receiving an error. Error states ‘something went wrong’. Clearly something went wrong because it stopped working. I’ve tried several things including deleting and reinstalling the app and now I can’t even log in. Frustrating to say the least.

Apple Watch App needs added to Aladdin Connect ASAP
Love love love this product with the exception of these two things, the door sensor chews through batteries every month and a half and they need to update the software quicker and for the love of God, please add Apple Watch connectivity as an option. I switched from a MyQ product to this product. They had a Watch app. You guy’s need to get on that! I think it would be nice if you went on a bike ride or a run and took nothing but your AirPods and your Apple Watch. Listen to your customers and make this happen ASAP please!!!!!

Status unknown door disabled
Useless app useless motor and bad customer service who couldn’t fix any of the issues. Bought this less than 6 months back, worked fine for six months. Last week got disconnected all of sudden. Reinstalled app, took garage door off from the app , tried to reset removed plugs battery etc but still the door wouldn’t connect to the app. Got full signal and spent hours on phone with no customer service. Finally sent in all receipts pictures of trouble shooting and company will mail me new circuit board which I’ll have to fix inside the motor and than connect. Never ever again genie Aladdin. Will probably just return the item back to Costco being defective item and useless company.

Worst app ever
This is my first review of any app. I highly recommend not using this app if it is your main use of egress into your home. It works about 50% of the time, and we routinely have to force quit the app to get it to work. And the term “get it to work” is used loosely. It sometimes takes multiple force quitting the app to get it to work, and sometimes it never works. Which means if there isn’t someone home who can open the garage door it never opens. Being a small business owner, I would be incredibly embarrassed to put my name behind this product. How it has received the positive reviews it has is beyond belief. My recommendation, invest in as many remote garage door opener’s you can afford, this app doesn’t work.

Doesn’t work with LiftMaster
The box clearly states it does work with LiftMaster so initially my fiancé and I purchased this product. After installing which took me longer than I expected and several attempts of trouble shooting the devices I called their tech support. The tech support personnel walked me through a few steps and asked me to check the antenna aka the purple or yellow wire. After informing tech support I had a purple wire they stated their product was unable to be installed with the type of LiftMaster I have. They simple need to inform the customer that it does not work with “certain types of LiftMaster”, more specifically where to check and what to check. This product is falsely advertising. The app golden. 1 star for the product as a whole.

Huge security flaw
I’ve had this app, and the associated device, for several years now. Over that time it is gone through several UI changes, and right now it works pretty well. However, it has some major security problems. The biggest that I have found is that changing your password does not force all devices using that password to re-login. In other words, if for some reason someone has your password (Hacker, crazy ex, former roommate, etc), you will have no ability to prevent them from accessing your garage and possibly house. I tested this by changing the password using a new device. Unfortunately, an old device that was logged in using the old password was still perfectly able to open and close by garage door. I took it a step further and log out, but the app didn’t require the password to log back in. It authenticated using Face ID even though the new password had never been entered. Anyone who is even remotely cautious about people accessing their house, should definitely think twice before using this system.

Nice but could use one MAJOR improvement
App needs one improvement that would be very helpful! If there were alerts you could set up to receive if the garage door were left open for more than X min/hours that would be awesome! This would be to prevent your family from accidentally leaving the garage open overnight or even just a long period of time. Please look into developing this notification alert!!

It's good but…
It's a good app and I like that I can invite people to be able to open the garage door. The only feature I wish it had was working off car play. Having the ability to open the door using the touchscreen in my vehicle without going into my phone would be leaps and bounds amazing. Another nice feature would be to be able to use the app on a smartwatch. Sometimes you don't want to carry your phone and being able to utilize your smartwatch would be an amazing addition.

Very un-reliable
Ap works sometimes and when it does, it’s fine. Can let our dog out through the garage without carrying a clicker around, can let guests into the house when I’m not home. It’s handy. But it seems like 25% of the time, a random error message shows where the app says the door is disabled. They list reasons as to why that may have occurred and none of them have happened. “Vacation mode” was never turned on, WiFi signal is strong, but we wind up having to re-program the whole thing. Clicker still works ok, maybe I’ll just stick with that going forward, not sure this is worth all of the trouble.

Horrible Password Management
Does not work with keychain. Not possible to auto-generate strong passwords and have them automatically filled. Not possible to paste into password field during account creation and forced to use password reset. Following successful account creation, automatically generated strong password was not saved. Reset password requires current password which does not auto-fill. There seems to be no logout or forgot password from the app. Not well thought out password management process. Other than that, it opens and closes door fine. Unable to link with Alexa… because no stored generated string password.

Good for a year and that’s it…highly disappointed
Loved the app initially. Updated two months ago and ran fine. Suddenly two days ago the app could no longer connect to my wifi signal. Strength of my wifi is currently sitting at 4 bars while in the garage…no excuse not to connect. Reset the unit and followed the instructions to try and reconnect, nothing. Just error messages and time out notifications. Part of the reason why I purchased the unit was due to the app and it’s features. Being able to monitor and control my garage door via app is a splendid idea, but the execution is poor to say the least. Hopefully a fix is found soon and the app can serve a purpose once again.

Works occasionally
I have had the Aladdin Controller installed for almost a year. Initially it worked well. After a few months I upgraded to a Wifi Mesh system. The reliability of the app started going down at that point. After a few months of that, I deleted everything, and re-setup from scratch as well as replacing the battery in the door sensor. It worked so what reliably for a month or so. Now it never works. It connects and shows the status of the door, but then when I request that it be opened it close, it sends the signal and changes the icon for about 2 seconds and the doesn’t do anything. It is a good door position monitor, but it is a lousy remote control.

Simplify the review
The single screen pop-up should include the phrase “Rate the app” followed by an option like “Not now” and the five open stars. After I click on any of those it should automatically submit and show NO MORE SCREENS. It took so many clicks that I was already at my garage door before the “Open door” button was viable. The result was I didn’t use your app, I think the developers are out of touch with the users, and the decision makers annoyed the users with a review process that’s too long.
