The new American Standard app doesn’t work as well. My system has been running all morning and yet the App says the compressor is not running. Well the backup heat is not running so how am I getting heat? The app should be modified to show separate indicators for when the compressor, aux heat (furnace) and the fan are each running. I would find that more useful especially when I am not at home. I would also like to see a better variety of colors used on the history graphs. Some of the colors are too similar and I can’t tell the difference. Agree with others that the Nexia app was more reliable.
Edit: So horribly unreliable. Goes offline frequently. How can they not fix the problems with this app over all of this time? Frustrating…I wish i had other options, but I don’t feel like changing my thermostat. Original review: Occasionally works well, and it is a huge convenience to have. But it goes thru stretches where is has trouble connecting, and then other times, there seems to be very little correlation between the temperatures on the app and those on the thermostat. Well, being off by one degree is manageable, but being off by two degrees……kind of defeats the purpose. I still use it, but it can be really annoying. Edit: I updated my review to lower my ranking by one star because my connection problems have gotten worse. My internet works fine and i’m literally 5 feet away from the thermostat, but i’m getting constant “connection unavailable” messages. Edit: Months after my initial review, the same problems discussed above are worse than ever. Really frustrating. Also, pay attention to the reviews - many negative reviews show up as 5 stars. Something fishy going on here…..totally convinced the ratings here are completely bogus.
Were forced to go from Nexia to American Standard for our thermostat remote control. Nexia worked great. American standard is when the nightmare began, forcing us to deal with total incompetence. The new piece of junk cut us off and disabled our thermostat. The directions were useless, one instruction said wait for a prompt which never appeared. All I want is my money back and a non app system. American Standard is the pits and and have a totally clueless IT department. They should hire Nexia. HELP! They got one star because there is nothing lower.
We switched from ecobee to American Standard (still not sure we really had to) and there are a few features I miss and some I just don’t understand. 1. I miss the ability to set a vacation mode. I don’t see any way to adjust the thermostat to a vacation mode. Previously I could set a vacation start and end time or just tap a vacation/away button in the app. I can’t find anything like that with the American Standard app. 2. Scheduling is, for some reason, really difficult. I haven’t ever had this much trouble scheduling my thermostats with an app. It’s just not user friendly. 3. What is the day/night button on the top right of the app? I have no clue what it is for or what it does. This is where it should have a vacation option or away option. If you could set a predefined temperature range for the day/night and a time range, or a temperature range for away/vacation, I can see where this toggle would be beneficial. But I can’t find anything on the day/night or a way to configure what they do.
Just put in a very expensive HVAC unit and were told our Nest wasn’t compatible. Furthermore, “Nest is made by tech people in Silicon Valley and this American Standard is better because it’s made by HVAC people”. I feel like I’ve gone back in IT time by 20 years. I’m expecting to see Oregon Trail pop up on it any minute. It’s horrible. The app and settings are not user friendly, don’t begin to give me the flexibility and options my Nest did, and the whole app is clunky. They seem so proud to offer the weather on it. Who goes over to their thermostat to check the weather? We all have the weather in our hands. Further proof this thing is decades behind the times. Please hire a tech person from Silicon Valley to fix this app. This app is antiquated technology.
This thermostat has a lot of features but not very useful. The schedule portion is not easy to set up or change. The display is very difficult to follow. It is basically a timeline instead of a calendar style display. I was told this expensive thermostat also had the feature to adjust start time to reach the desired temp by the time set in the schedule. It does not. It changes at the time programmed and runs until set temp is reached. I had to back up the time by at least 15 minutes to try to have the temp reach the set temp and time. Overall I would not recommend this thermostat.
Your scheduling feature is awful -take a look at some other internet enabled thermostat systems Also now more people work from home try adding up to 10 programmable periods so you can let house AC temp slowly rise by a degree or so each hour as the outside temp rises - then follow the temps down as it cools outside - thereby maximizing cooling efficiency throughout the day The history function is fun -try making a time graph for each day that shows actual % compressor usage
Recently replaced entire HVAC at our residence. New system is a Mitsubishi cold climate heat pump and an American Standard 96 % gas furnace. This thermostat was part of the package and was straightforward to configure and the phone app is user-friendly. Has all the functions I need, including programmable air circulation at slow speed to get temperature and humidity well under control.
All I was is something that works as well as the nest app I had before but this thing fails on ease of use and reliability. It frequently times out when communicating with my actual American Standard thermostat so I'll be in a situation when returning from vacation where one HVAC unit is stuck on away mode whole the other is ready for my return. And save me from your suggestions to reach out to an email or phone number, AS developers. Your technical support redirects all real serious questions back to a certified American Standard dealer, essentially forcing people to pay for a service call to use the app.
I like the app and it provides decent info and controls for the thermostat. I noticed that when I touched the thermostat for my heat pump that there was a System Alert. Based on the history and the nature of the alert, the event that generated it happened 6 days prior to my discovering the issue. Would be nice if the app, as a minimum, provided a notification to that there is an alert so that one can go to the thermostat to look at it. My display set to be off if not being queried.
Since the most recent app update, my thermostat won’t stay connected to WiFi. Also cannot get the temperature calibrated. The thermostat consistently says it is 2 degrees warmer in the house than it actually is. I can live with the calibration issue, but the thermostat being offline more than on needs to be resolved soon please. Otherwise the thermostat works as it should and I appreciate being able to access anywhere via the app.
Night mode no longer works. Otherwise it’s the same as Nexia was. I was also hoping to be able to set it to where people can’t turn it below or above a certain temperature. Ecobee had this setting so I didn’t have to worry about coming home to a house with the system set on 60, instead it wouldn’t allow a user to go below the temperature I selected. Same goes for heat. If ecobee worked with my system, I’d switch back. Should have done my research I suppose!
I’ve had some issues w/the thermostat when it comes to controlling the heat due to the fact of the outside thermostat being a constant problem. Temperature likes to fluctuate widely. Recently I’m having propane distributor issues so I’m trying to monitor my aux heat heat usage (I have a dual fuel system) - the AS app is showing night time temps as being in the negative digits when it’s in the 20’s-30’s & even in the middle of summer in Va. if it’s THAT wrong how can I trust any of it being right???? Am I reading it wrong??smdh
I’ve only had my new system since December 6,2022 and I love it. This app is great.I don’t have to come home to a hot or cold house depending on what the weather is that day. Totally love the fact I can set it to be whatever temperature I want to come on automatic. It also tells me the outside temperature and the humidity in the house. Wish I’d of gotten this system years ago.
When it works it’s great. But it goes thru spells where it has connection errors or won’t connect which is getting to be a pain . Nexia app didn’t really have that many problems in my opinion. Just would like it to be reliable
Just had my new HVAC installed yesterday and had to change to a new thermostat that uses this app (Link UX360 from my beloved Nest.) I find the app functionality to be limited, and I am unable to program the schedule from the app. Although the thermostat has a scheduled that I programmed, attempting to access the schedule from the app constantly throws the message: Failed to load the thermostat's active schedule. Do you want to start with a default schedule?
The thermostat always disconnects from internet and when I log on into app I can’t use it I have sent messages but with no helpful solutions. I have reconnected this about 60 times within the year of having it and when it does connect always within 24 hr I have to reconnect. When I try to use some of the features it tells me I have to turn my location on. So I got to settings and go to the place to allow location and no where is a location even to enable. Great ac unit just a horrible app
First I feel like they forced me to switch to the app because I couldn’t get rid of the constant pop ups from the company every time I tried to use my Nexia. The app is the least reliable I’ve ever used. Service was so bad already in July that they sent an email out to users about how they had ‘fixed’ the issues caused by their inability to deal with the volume. That was 4 days ago. And now the app is broken again. I’ve never left a negative review before but the app is truly awful when it can’t even stay online
I am away for the first time in a year and cannot control my system, I will go home to a cold house because of it. No reasonable warning or grace period before changing. Bought this system at a premium to assure I had no problems and it has failed me for the second time. The last time my system was disconnected and I had no heat because you upgraded the system and it failed. It was freezing when I woke up. They had to cancel the upgrade to get my system working again. Your technology stinks. Pushing buttons doesn’t always work! Very disappointed!!!
I often have problems with my American Standard thermostat staying connected to my HVAC system. The technicians with big name HVAC companies who service my system rarely know how to assist with the pairing or explain why the system won’t stayed paired?!? No online tutorials or tech support for American Standard thermostats which makes for a very unhappy customer. Before I changed my HVAC system, I had a NEST and would switch back but because I have a high efficiency system, I need to have a thermostat that can communicate with amy system!
Tech had problems setting it up had to come numerous times but finally got it working. No problems since. Great not having to get out of bed and change temperature. Great when away during winter months not have ti worry about temperature being below freezing and causing pipes to freeze as long as you’re not to far away. Had a Honeywell before. I liked it a little better. This one is way above the Honeywell
I can’t zoom in or out on the schedule. It’s difficult to set my schedule around my 3-6 time of use plan. Which is difficult because during the weekday I want to be able to pre-cool at 2pm then raise to higher temp at 3pm but the visual representation is so crammed together I cannot figure out what temperature it’s set at for the 2pm let alone the temp to post cool at 6pm. The one thing the app should do really well is scheduling but of all the HVAC apps I’ve used American standard is the worst user friendly. Please can someone fix the app?
The tech support help I got when I called was very helpful and patient. He walked me through each step to get my app synced with my air conditioner/heating unit changed from Nexia to American Standard. His name was Clint and he is doing an excellent job helping people with their tech problems.
Just got the system and trying to schedule From morning to evening. Very confusing dragging and running into new times that you don’t need then trying to delete them… Is there a way to just key in the time we want to start and stop and at what temperatures we want during that time and then move onto the next timeframe?
the app works well some of the time. in order to use the app you have to remember 2 different formats as the thermostat, it’s features, and settings are in different locations and appear different than the app. with that said i find myself relying on the app to make changes rather than the thermostat as the app is more direct. not all features and settings are available on both either which is not good. some settings can only be set from the thermostat and some only from the app. for as complex as they have insisted they make this unit, more thought should have been placed in the app. lastly there has not been a refresh in the apps layout in the 4 years i have used it.
This is definitely one of the worst thermostats in the market.I have set the schedule several times and it does not work. It keeps changing settings. No away feature and programming is a pain.
I am having problems connecting my dashboard to my thermostat. I’m going to call tomorrow since my iPad and iPhone won’t connect. Until then I’ve been very satisfied with American standard and Dan’s heating and air-conditioning company.
I don’t understand why after using this App for awhile, all the info just disappears. I click on the App and all I get is a blank screen. This is the second time this has happened in 5 months?
I can’t even log in to the app! It says that my internet or wireless is not configured properly, yet *every single other app* on my phone works without issue! My wife has exactly the same issue.
Our thermostat is very easy to control. It has some of the finest features. It’s nice to be able to monitor what’s going on and also the ability to make changes from anywhere.
1. App should be refreshing in the background so when I open it up I should be able to see the HP compression % right away. Lag is significant. None of this waiting stuff. 2. Better differentiate between heat and aux heat They should be labeled if applicable heat pump and gas or electric furnace. Color differentiating needs to be better. 3. Allow homeowners to determine cut off point for HP to stop and back up to kick in. Seems weird that I have to ask my installer to change it. 4. Allow homeowners to force a defrost on the HP.
I loved this app at first. I am a geek and loved the data I can get. Starting a week ago it’s totally unstable. You can’t connect to your system, or make remote changes. All you get is a pop up apologizing and no solution.
We used to be with Nexia, and the app there worked great. Now every time we have to use this new app we get constant timeouts and retries, it’s worthless. I’d honestly never used the control panel with our thermostats ever in the two years we’ve used them (just used the app) but now I’m having to constantly use them due to timeouts and retry issues with the nexia replacement. Very frustrating.
My family and I love our American Standard AC unit! The best part it is all outside and we are saving on our power bill! Special thank you to Austin’s Mechanical in Polkton NC for the outstanding service!!
Extremely difficult to get thermostat in manual mode, & once you get it into manual mode it’s very easy to have it switch back to schedule mode due to the placement of the permanent hold icon right under the thermostat temperature setting. Need to have switches instead of small touch screen. App needs to have a manual mode option, it’s useless for setting manual mode.
Our thermostat app stopped working so I am forced to make changes on the thermostat on the wall. Which my wife cannot reach. I called the support number and hung up after 10 minutes. That’s my limit. So I sent them an email. No response there either. The Nexia app worked much better but we were forced to use this one.
I’ve had this system for over two years now. All of a sudden I have to upgrade. Why? New app is asking me to do things with my old controller that is not there. I have kept a log of all my original setup information and nothing works. If my controller quits I’ll rip it out and replace it. Less headaches. Really bad app. I gave it a one but, would like to give it a negative number. Maybe a -10.
I continue to have major problems with this app. It will not allow me to make changes to schedules or load schedules I created several months ago. 1 star. It s horrible. Wish I was not stuck using their thermostat to control the system. It was expensive but the app makes it worthless.
It seems like this app was developed for complexity’s sake alone. It is not intuitive to use, it needs to be messed with constantly to keep it working. The Nexia app worked so well and was so easy to use. I was really disappointed when I clicked on the app and was notified that it is discontinued. I downloaded the new app and am not happy.
Setting up daily schedules and getting them to work currently is a challenge. I’ve tried multiple times to get schedules to work correctly to no avail. I’ve tried the permanent hold feature and it doesn’t work either. It has a mind of its own. Eventually going to replace it with something that works.
