This is a really interesting concept and a great way for people to obtain reservations that are becoming increasingly competitive. There are still a few things that could be improved, particularly the interface, the ease of use and the ability to contact people for help within the app but it’s still a significantly useful app with a high level of use.
Overall, it’s pretty good platform! It offers dining experiences for those who have money, but not the necessary connections. And, it offers some extra cash for those who have those connections, but don’t have the money to got out for those dining experiences. I very much appreciate the app … unless there’s an issue that requires support to step in. They are nowhere to be found! I’ve been attempting to contact support via the app and email about a payout issue, and they never get back. So, just be mindful that, it will probably be a headache trying to get the funds owed to you in a timely manner. And, it’ll only get harder AFTER they’ve collected their big chunk of your money. Also, I want to mention this for sellers. Funds aren’t available until 48 hours after the reservation sold. That’s fair, but you have these options for payout methods: § To Another AT User § US ACH Bank Account § (Same Day) Zelle [Beta] § (Next Day) PayPal Account [Beta] Just keep in mind that, there will be fees for each payout method, except for sending it to another AT user. Zelle is the most expensive option ($15+2.5%), but it won’t come the same day. Zelle takes minutes, but it took days coming from this app. PayPal takes 5 days, not 1. Just a heads up!
Stay away from this app!!!!! After you make a bid with your card, if the bid isn’t successful you think your money is refunded to your firm of payment but it isn’t!!! They create a virtual credit card with your name and a fake Las Vegas address which belongs to Aria resort and casino, and they “credit” the money to that card that they only know about!! If you are lucky enough to figure out that the money wasn’t credited back to your card, after jumping multiple apo hoops you are able to retrieve the information of that virtual card that now bears your name with a fake Las Vegas address and use it to credit yourself back!!!!!! That is absurd! What bank is this card issued from? How do they issue a card without your consent? What happens to that card? How do you cancel your account?? There is zero information on any of these issues!!! FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD just reported them to the authorities for online fraud. Good luck if you decide to use this app
This website and app feel like they were created in the 90s. The UX is just so so bad. Most of the links seem to just redirect to the main listing page, and even without that the site is just opaque and badly designed. This coming from an internet native who can usually make sense of any site in a short time. I found using this site very frustrating. Everything on the site is market place based, so there’s no real guarantee that you’ll get something useful for your money. You can’t really take any actions, just put bids out for other people to maybe take actions or maybe nothing happens. This applies to the “customer support” as well, which seemed to be a black hole. That said, it did work in the end for what I wanted. I ended up canceling my bid for a reservation and when I got a notification for an instant buy option. I ended up having to personally text message the person listed on the resy reservation and ask them to contact the restaurant to transfer it to my name. Otherwise what’s to stop the person from just showing up? So I’m giving this a 2 because it worked, but I would not recommend it to anyone unless they were truly desperate.
I’ll preface by saying that Appointment Trader is my preferred platform for selling, but there is a huge learning curve. The documentation for anything is difficult to find. There are many rules and limitations that one isn’t aware of until they’ve already broken them and are being punished. The staff is very responsive and generally helpful which is a big plus. If you’re getting into this yourself though thoroughly read through everything. The site is a bit messy and buggy but do your best to learn all that you can before you start selling. Right now I have $1000 locked up because I wasn’t aware of the limitations on withdrawing, and that might get locked up even further because I didn’t know they penalize you for removing listings that don’t sell
Idea and concept is genius just ZERO accountability. No customer service or contact number. Had a confirmed reservation purchase for over a week and an hour and a half before our dinner reservation we got a notification saying it was canceled and our money was refunded. There was no explanation or reason. Once you confirm a reservation and the money is withdrawn from your account the reservation should be yours to do what you see fit. Apparently that is not the case and we were left with the short end of the stick. The fact that that is possible to happen again I will never use this app and stop anyone I know from using it as well.
Absolutely phenomenal service! I can always rely on them to be there when I need them most, and even when I don’t, they give me countless updates on restaurant reservations that I may potentially be interested in going to in the near future. Appointment trader has been a lifesaver, I can’t thank them enough. I hope everyone gets an opportunity to experience such wonderful service themselves.
I used this app to make a bid on a reservation for a restaurant. The bid was never accepted and when I went to take my money back out, they were trying to take 2.5% out of the money that I put into the account for my bid that never went through. On top of that it was a hassle to get the money out of app account and back into my credit account. I should’ve read more reviews before using this app. There is no contact number to reach anyone and I wrote multiple emails about my withdrawal and never got a response. This app should be flagged and whoever made it should be arrested.
A time tested endeavor.. looking to have a wider sample size to have a more accurate review, with that said..I have been very pleased with the app. Being able to enjoy the best NYC restaurants without the hassle in groveling to get a reservation is as close to “priceless” as it gets. Looking forward to many more time dining experiences!
It is trash. No other way to put it. If you can get over the absolutely horrible user experience (clunky, not intuitive, cluttered, not visually appealing in any way….there are hard schoolers who could have coded/designed better than this), you definitely won’t get over the scamminess of it all. Literally had a reservation cancelled 30 mins before because Resy suspected AT of selling reservations. Which of course they are totally doing. But instead of a refund of the not inconsiderable amount….they just put it in an AT account that you then must use.
I’ve used it a few times, and it always works smoothly. My favorite app and all my friends are always begging me to make reservations now! A wonderful solution for those of us who don’t want to make our dinner reservations super far in advance but still want to go certain places.
I think this app has great potential. My only complaint is how long it takes to list and how long it takes to get a last-minute reservation. Most people who are willing to pay for reservations are last minute people that will find it to be worth it. I think they should charge $5 month or whatever and boost up their features to allow last minute reservations please!l
I’ve had this app for eight months now and it’s saved me so many times! Whether it be making a reservation for friends, visiting family, or for my girlfriend and I, the app has always come through. Download now and thank yourself for doing so!
Great for special occasions or just for the generally impatient :)
Found out about this app from a friend and it has been amazing. Used it a few times for date nights and when we had special guests in town, and while it’s a bit pricey, it was totally worth it.
AT is a legit marketplace for hard to get reservations at impossible to get into restaurants. It works for both buying and selling and it works well without issue. If you don't mind spending to get into a place you really want to go then I recommend AT.
Super helpful app. Only annoying thing if that you can’t get a full refund for non-utilized deposits on the app nor use the same deposit towards multiple bids for the same time simultaneously
Me and my husband bought a reservation at Carbone and it was IMMEDIATELY cancelled and the money was supposedly refunded but I never got it back. I sent an email to the customer support email in the comments and it sent an automatic reply saying to contact support through the app or website. So I tried doing that and it tried to get my social and a picture of it before contacting support and I don’t feel comfortable doing that. So now I just lost $80 and nobody is contacting me. Appointment trader IS A SCAM.
I've used Appointment Trader on four separate occasions and everything has been smooth without a hitch. I highly recommend it for reservations at places that immediately book up.
Appointment Trader is a phenomenal platform and I’ve had a positive experience. If you’re looking for a reliable platform to buy/sell reservations this is your place!
We’ve *twice* bought reservations, only for the actual reservation sent after purchase to be for a *different* time and different group size. When we contacted Appt Trader to request a refund they said no. This app is a scam. It is unreliable, you don’t get what you pay for, and they don’t care to fix issues when they don’t deliver the product they promise. You will waste your money here. Stay away.
It's a decent marketplace for in demand reservations. In NYC it's clutch but in other cities like Boston, selection can be sparse. Really depends on the city/demand for reservations. I don't like that this concept fosters the idea of botting for reservations but that's just how things are now I guess.
The best App to get the hardest reservations. I've gotten over 300 !!!! Highly recommended to anyone who Is looking for a fine dining / hard to get into restaurant. Thank you Appointment Trader for everything you have done for me and my clients.
It’s a good app to use when you need a reservation. The app can be a lot to look at and navigate at first but you get use to it. I wish it was easier to change the name of the reservation.
Still trying to figure things out. Today an AT reviewer approved a listing that they shouldn’t have. I don’t remember posting the listing for review, but for some reason it was and it was approved even though the listed date and the actual reservation date were different. AT: please contact me!
From a technical standpoint, the app is fine, not trying to be something it isnt. Straight to the point and works. Support team is great and manages the reservation market very well.
Between restaurants giving hot reservations to VIPs and bots AT really levels the field and allows anyone to get a reservation. I love the community as well. And the way the marketplace functions is very fair!
Unfortunately, they are operating outside Resy’s terms of service and as such have no mechanism for ensuring delivery of reservations sold on their platform. Buyers including myself are often left showing up to cancelled reservations, and to make matters worse the company has a baffling and potentially illegal policy of requiring the user to enter a social security number for a full refund. Stay far away.
So glad this app exists as most very exclusive restaurants are not accessible to the average person and this allows a chance for everyone to experience the best spots. Easy to use and fun too.
I’m loving AT and just wish I knew about this sooner. I’ve sold and purchased reservations and it’s works perfectly! Very attentive customer service too.
Always hard to get a last minute good reservation I was introduced to the services and almost always succeeds in delivering The app is fine to navigate, all in all a good partner
They make it sound like you can get a reservation at the restaurant that you want. They encourage you to spend more in order to increase your chance of doing this. I tried this for the first time and I did not get any feedback. And I think once you give the money you are stuck. You must use it within the app. No refunds. Don’t do it. You’ll be sorry.
I love this app! Very reliable. So far every reservation I made came through. Great last minute choice for scoring covered reservations in the best restaurants.
Will keep it short, They do not have a support team at all so good luck if there’s an issue with the crazy prices you’re trying to spend getting a res somewhere. They also wildly inflate pricings of bookings to try and convince you to pay more than you should. Don’t install the app, just wait for your appointments
The AppointmentTrader Marketplace turns your cancelled dinner plans into cash and makes overbooked Restaurants, DMV's, SPA's, Hair-Dressers, Dog Groomers and an ever growing list of categories a thing of the past.
