ArtStation App

I love this app and my one pet peeve is that the notifications system is a pile of crap. 1. The notifications come up as a banner in the Notifications center but you have to open up the app for the bubble with the number of notifications. 2. In the app it tells you how many notifications you have but when you open up the actual tab for it it doesn’t show which ones are new, even a simple blue dot on the right of the notification that goes away after you view it would work. Also as a side note I’d appreciate being able to swipe through the different pieces in the notifications queue like you do on the Browse page. 3. Speaking of the Browse page it would be cool if you could narrow down what you want to see by being able to choose more than one subject.

This used to be one of my favorite apps to browse the latest works from digital artists all over the world. Unfortunately, constant changes to the UI have made the app confusing, buggy, and slooooow. Moreover, information about each work (the artist’s description & links) is now hidden behind a tiny “i” icon that you need to tap every time you view an image. Like other reviewers here, I’m close to deleting this app altogether — to put it simply, it gets in the way of enjoying the art. UPDATE: Remarkably, this app's UI continues to get worse with every update. An example: in the latest version, in order to add an artwork to a collection, instead of simply tapping a bookmark icon while viewing the work, you now have tap to open the artist's portfolio, tap again to reselect the work from within the portfolio, THEN tap the bookmark icon. Simply baffling and atrocious UI design. The web site continues to work well (and is obviously managed by a different team), which is quite honestly the only reason I haven't cancelled my Pro subscription ... yet.

If you follow art in film, tv, games, toys... This is where you will find the portfolios of top artists and aspiring in the the industry. ArtStation has been extremely active in keeping its site and app up to date with constant support and updates since conception. Since ArtStation is the go to site for professional artists in all mediums to publish their portfolios there is consistent activity on a day to day basis. For artists, the offering is a rich environment to publish your work for free and receive news on the industry. You can upgrade to pro for custom features as well as discounts for online content in the storefront. You can create your own blog, sell your work, and establish a great list of connections focused on your artistic skills. I have established some decent consignment projects through ArtStation and have had some great relationships created through this app/site.

I attempted to create an account with my Apple ID and Login via Apple. This goes just fine. The app asks to “verify my email” and sends me an email with a link. Login via Apple isn’t supposed to need email verification. Apple has already verified my email for you. But anyway, I click the link. The link opens in Safari and does nothing. I’m not logged into anything. I don’t get a notification for success. I’m just dumped onto the login page. The online login page doesn’t have a “Login with Apple” button. I can’t like any galleries. I can’t follow any artists. I’m told to verify my account. I go to the verification sheet, “Resend link” does nothing. Under the link there’s some text that says: “Having any issues? Contact our support team” I click “Contact our support team”. I can either leave a review or send you an email asking for help. I used private relay email proxy for “Login via Apple”. I don’t want your company to have my email. I shouldn’t have to verify an email. This is a mess and I don’t appreciate it.

I really appreciate this website for allowing the creation of a great art community that I enjoy visiting. But after the new app update, which changed the whole layout of the app, it’s been buggy ever since. When I scroll through the update feeds, it constantly clicks on posts when I really was just scrolling from up to down. It’s frustrating. But I see that they are fixing bugs, there was a bug with zooming in on artworks but they seemed to have addressed it. I just wish they returned the zoom in that stays zoomed in so I can keep looking at the zoomed in pic without having to have two fingers constantly zooming. But that’s just me. Love the app/website!

I really enjoy the community and the works on here; but you guys really need to add a home feature that shows the works of the artists that someone’s following! I mean seriously! This app feels so cheap because it’s so hard to maneuver around. You can’t easily see new posts from artists you’re following; and you have to click on a photo and leave it every time when going on the browse page which makes the act of browsing actually really difficult and tedious!! If you guys seriously have millions of active users then act like it and make this an actually usable app! All you’ve gotta do is 1. Add a tab where you can see posts from people you’re following like a timeline on Instagram or twitter or something of that sort. And while someone might point to the activity page it’s practically useless because every post someone you’re following comments on or likes ends up being there; so you can’t even see the posts of the people you’re following behind all of the random posts that they interacted with. 2. Allow users to swipe or slide to posts that are next to each other. Like; If you’re on the browse page then you can swipe right to see the next post or something like that. 3. Put in some sort of animation or movement when you interact with the app! It feels really stiff!

Some folks hacked my account and reached out to as many artists as they could with the following message which is obviously some sort of scam. Cool app but in iPhone XS os 15.5 notification mute for today didn’t stop notifications from pausing, they persist. Turning off notifications is the only option but then they don’t continue the next day, they’re just off indefinitely until manually turning them back on. Also, tapping in a notification from your is pull down to view to a newly published image takes you to the image in the app but if you go back to your phone notifications pull down and tap on another notification with out navigating home in the app the feature stops working, it simply doesn’t take you to the new post. Really wish these functions worked consistently. Loving the inspiration boosters from this app when it does work.

Artstation is a great plaform to collect great works from artists around the global. But, this app still have a long way to go. First, the gif files cannot be downloaded from the app directly, they will become still images. I have to copy links and download them from the browser. And the new video-ish format? It is cool to view the art pieces, but I still find no way to download them at this moment. Finally, the caches in form of data and files. The app doesn't provide a cache-removal function. Hence, after a while, the app will take up so much space on iPhone, my only option is to delete and reinstall it. Hopefully, the app is improving along the way; so, I will look forward to seeing the developers to fix them.

Its not a bad website, just a bad app. I was recommended by my brother to try this app since I’m applying to colleges and I wanted to make an art portfolio. Well the signing in was overly complicated, especially with passwords. You need special characters as well as both upper and lower case letters before it’s satisfied in letting you join. Next was my profile, where they were overly specific on the background size, and despite changing the size, they wouldn’t accept it. Then there was the actual portfolio. I started one but realized it was a PROJECT, so I started over, and now it says I can’t use the portfolio feature on my device. I instead had to just go on the website and start my portfolio. So long story short- forget the app. Just use the website and it will be okay.

The app works well, sometimes bandwidth is an issue, but it works. However, I use this on my iPad (small screens are *not* good for looking at art!) and usually in landscape mode. The problem is this; for the last two versions the app defaults to portrait mode and will not rotate properly without exiting and restarting the app. Unfortunately, the same thing happens again if the app stops running in the background. I develop apps myself and this is a dirt-simple fix. Please fix it? It’s not huge, but it is a constant annoyance. Thanks!

I have used art station for quite awhile now, there’s a lot of good content. I decided to make an account...omg, you would think I was trying to sign up for something top secret! You need to ask for EXACTLY what you want in the way of passwords, many other apps that require a password don’t require special characters etc. it’s fine that you do but one only finds this out by trial and error. Much easier if you just ask for what you want. Then after jumping through all those hoops and verifying my email, I sign in and now another verification? Now my cell number as well?? So, are you going to sell that so I’m bombarded with sales calls or whatever? Why both? What so hard to sign up? I opted out, I don’t need more emails and more sales calls

I use art station on my iPad Pro 12.9 (in landscape mode) to search for reference art. And it’s the most annoying thing in the world! Please, please, please add the option to customize your homescreen feed! On my iPhone a 1x1 scrolling feed makes sense but on my iPad it just makes everything blurry! I wish I could choose 2x4 or 4x4 or something other than 1x1. Seriously, this app is amazing! It’s just so awkward and weird to view the art. I would love to be able to see my homescreen just like the “discover/browse” tab.

With notifications turned on in settings, the same banner pops up three times in a row for the same exact notification. There is no reason for this to happen and it is annoying. Also, when you go into the app to see what the notification is, there is nothing in the tab for any activity. All notification categories are always empty every time on the app. There is no reason to have notifications on if the app won’t even tell you what it is notifying you about. The only way to check is to go directly to the website now. Please fix the notification system.

When i tap at copy button, it copies image, url, artist name, and his(or her) job info.. share via app.... It’s nice worked for iMessage as i checked but other messenger apps are not. Only image sent.. or only text... If i use activities feature to sharing it sent all of that copied information but it works like this image (sent), url (sent), lest of info (sent) so i spamming for sharing art! So... yeah i think this app needs to change about sharing option

Ok, so this app is so far very good and it’s easier to catch my portfolio and other arts within the app. But there are some problems with the programming. First of all when I open the app, no matter what position my device is placed, it opens vertically! I have to go to the home screen and return to the app after it’s launched to fix this and have it on horizontal view. Then when I want to pick a photo and upload it it opens my photo library in vertical view when my device is horizontally placed! These are really small problems but truly frustrating! Please fix!!!

This app is phenomenal. It has job listings for art, you can see other’s art, and you can share your own. Sort of. I don’t know if this was just me, but when I went to share my own first art on ArtStation, but it has you fill out a form, which was fine, but a requirement was to add skills in the skills section. No matter how many times I tried to tap on it, it wouldn’t do a thing. But that’s my only complaint.

It would be super helpful to be able to manage our collections and likes, like tapping on our likes and assigning them a collection folder. The only thing I can do with them is delete them... and I do not like clicking each picture one by one in a new window on the desktop to assign them to a collection. It makes the collections function obsolete because of the tediousness. Good app though, for browsing purposes.

So I have two major problems. The first is that there’s no central upload button, it’s location changes every update. A central button to post should be the bare minimum for any type of portfolio platform. The second is that, for some reason, the newest update thinks into necessary to uncrop my photos when I upload them. Anyone who makes physical media will see the problem here. I can see myself taking a break from the platform as a whole for these reasons, the new management doesn’t seem to understand the needs of artists.

I love how simplistic and simple this app is! Around a few months ago I felt like my artwork was not developing into the way I wanted it to. I knew what I wanted my art to look like, but just didn’t know how to render it into what I was imagining. I just found this app yesterday, but I can already see how useful it’s going to be. Furthermore, I would just like to thank the dev team of this app! It is very well organized! Once again, thank you!

Artstation is great but they need to fix their verification email problems. The email they send doesnt even have a link to click to verify your account and when you request a link resend, you get an error that says only verified users can change their email.....which isn't what I wanted to do. I've already emailed support and havent heard anything back in weeks, so here I am leaving a two star review because this is apparently how to contact their support team. Hopefully this gets fixed soon because id like to follow artists and actually be able to use the app.

I like this app in general. Brings a lot of artists together. But I hate annoying ’like’ buttons. When you scroll your ‘updates’ page if you press like to an art, the like icon highlighted in blue. When you open an artist page and press like button, the like button highlighted in gray ( opposite compare to the update page)

ArtStation is a really good app for viewing and sharing art, but there are a lot of flaws and glitches. I was viewing an animated Marmoset model on the ArtStation website but there was no option to let me fullscreen the model. So I downloaded the app thinking I could use fullscreen there. You can fullscreen - but for some reason they don’t have the option to pause the animation. It’s a nonsense decision. Also the app is slow and will crash/freeze occasionally. I constantly have to reboot the app.

I will forever have to have my social security number frozen because ArtStation allows anyone to come on this platform and deceive artists with dreams of getting into the industry. These scammers used actual documents from real companies to trick me into a fake job offer and take all my personal info. Two people (one from Nigeria & one from France) have used my identity to get a driver’s license in my name. One of the most important things of value when earning trust from your audience is their personal safety not to be targeted by crooks and y’all ave failed at that.

I have had problem opening the app for 2 weeks now. I have deleted and reinstalled the app several times but still nothing. I can’t even get to the sign up page after I reinstall. It just blacks out. I have also contacted support/help through email from the website but I haven’t gotten a response back

Well the app and website is super amazing for the artists, they can now finally connect with the people around the world and share their ideas and their talent better. The little bad thing is the payment isn’t available in many regions and i hope they can make the missing regions quickly as soon as possible.

Art station itself is good but after checking between the app and the website many pictures have been removed. Im guessing this has to do with the recent google play store ban “seriously google has a problem with the mainly tame content on this App but not reddit or instagram with much worse riske or down right nsfw content”. I came here for art not for googles idea of whats ok and whats not ok. Also try out duckduckgo its better than google.

I like the app and the interface. One suggestion I have is to have a feature sort of like Instagram where you press on the post and it allows you to hover instead of clicking on it. Hopefully you understand where I’m getting at. It would really simplify things even more.

Used to really love this app. By far the best place to view/comment and collect references for future projects. But unfortunately the direction of the UI changes has made me use it less and less over time and now I am close to deleting it all together. What happened?! Why am I scrolling through thumbnails of images where I have to swipe right to see more images of the same project? Why am I seeing less and less of the artists information/discrimination of the artworks? I don’t need another Instagram. The design is not a total lose however. Just bring back the connection between the artist and their work. Let me fill my screen with images of the works and scroll through them. How is it that the mobile website version of ArtStation has this figured out?

I love this app as a artist and as a inspiration for my own art. There seems to be a constant app crash after 30 minutes it crashes without activity and or just browsing, hopefully this can be fixed. Because every update has done this. Other than that I love it.

After using this app for about 5-10 minutes, my entire phone freezes (iPhone 8, iOS 15.4.1). Have to wait a while for the phone to become responsive, and then kill it in the app switcher. Actually at some point has caused my entire phone to crash and reboot. I like viewing art (not an artist myself) but the website doesn’t have this crazy memory leak. Thinking about deleting it.

I use ArtStation daily on PC and my phone and this app hasn’t had any noticeable improvements in what feels like years. Notifications still don’t work, no marketplace feature, dates and times are wrong. Almost as if there’s zero developers working on it. Wouldn’t be so bad if you could use your phone browser but that’s also lacking. Hopefully catches up with desktop version soon.

Even with a super fast internet connection you can’t see or load images unless you try 20 times. Just for one image. It takes me at least 10 minutes to view a single picture. It will keep saying there’s no internet. I tried using the cellular data (5G), got the same results. Went to another place with a faster wifi connection, no luck!! At this point this app is useless.

This app is a great platform for artists to post work and gain exposure! The job listings are always current and up to date. Although, I wish they included more entry level positions for aspiring artists with minimal to no professional experience. Maybe I’m just missing that list?

Website is great for portfolio building, however the mobile app still needs a lot of quality of life changes. For example, the send feedback button doesn’t even work so I had to come write a review to get these following issues fixed. Secondly, I uploaded a bulk of edited and cropped photos/illustrations, and they uploaded with all my edits undone for some reason. Another issue is still being unable to assign image bulks to separate folders like you can on desktop; if there is a way to do it through the app, I must have missed it cuz the UI is rather bloated. Oh yeah and notifications still don’t work for some reason. Sheesh.

I love this app. The only problem is I’ll get the notifications but when I open the app. The notification history is blank, like it never exsisted. So I’ve lost what notifications I had and won’t be able to see until I’m on my desktop

I love ArtStation and mostly the app is fantastic also; BUT, stop logging me out! I use long, complex passwords, different for every account. I can’t possibly remember them. The ArtStation app keeps logging me out all the time. It makes the app almost unusable for me. Just let me log in and keep me logged in on my iPhone, institute 2FA if you need to. Please.

Every. Single. Time. I upload a new piece I get an email within 2 min of some crappy persons generic email about living the concept my page embodies and they’d like to “buy a piece”. Never specific which is how you KNOW it’s spam. Please get your site under control. Uploading images is cumbersome, the Ui is outdated and slow and not intuitive.

I used the app on my phone to check my work and it always allowed me to click on the likes so I can see who liked the work. But now it is greed out. And further more, it show the thumbnail large before you can see the full-size image. Not sure what they changed but I wish they would fix this. The website is flawless. Just the app is not working right.

The app is good, it’s the best art app out there and i have downloaded at least all art apps, there are a lot of professional artists there so almost no AI🤮, art is posted there.

I used to browse this app on an almost daily basis and consumed art casually. Now I never use it. It’s unfortunate because one of my favorite artists uses this app almost exclusively to post content. The UI in this app used to be great about two and a half years ago. Now it’s slow, confusing, and buggy. They *broke* what did not need to be fixed.

They won't let you sign in with a disposable email. They won't support Sign In with Apple, which lets you hide your email. Why does this matter? Marketing companies compile a profile about you based on your personal information like email address then sell this to other bidders. They want to harvest your info and disregard your privacy just so you can see pretty pictures you could view on the web just fine. Contemptible.

Update: the design logically is incredibly bad, I just deleted my collection instead of selected files. Omg, the collection I’ve been working with for many months. Wow, “amazing” UX design. Old review: The new design is cleaner. What I think should be changed: when selecting categories/sorting update after clicking an item, I don’t like tapping done after such a basic action.

Feel like I’ve been looking for this kind of community for a long time. I’m glad it’s on a subscription model so I don’t see a lot of garbage ads like Instagram.

This app is one of the best I have. It opens up an entirely new world of imagination and creativity of different artists and you can still look at others great art even if you aren’t an artist. This app is one that will always be on my favorites list.

Art Station has become inundated with AI users, both those who admit they use it and many that lie. I used to go to ArtStation to be inspired by artist's talent, now it's a crapshoot. AI users aren't filtered by the app accurately, and many lie anyways since they don't actually posses any art skills to showcase. The app also consistently crashes after scrolling for a minute or two.

Id give it a 5 star, but i never have any notifications under my notification tab in the app. Even though know i have them, because they are there when i go to the website on my laptop. Fix this and its a 5

Over all the app works smoothly and lets you view all of my favorite artists work. One recommendation i do have is that for the iPad Pro version the app should allow you to view the images upright no matter how the iPad is being held, even if he iPad is upside down.

I really dislike this app on iPad now. The whole A. swiping through the thumbnail —> B. Low quality version of the art —> C. Tapping for actual image. Isn’t great. Would much prefer how the website actually is. Thumbnail grid, tap on it = full quality images in a scroll. The reason the site is so well received and widely used is for how simple it is, i feel the app loses that.

I already submitted a technical support help email about this a month ago but can you guys please change the resume page to allow work experience in future tense? As an artist, your list of art residencies is very important to include on your CV. But your most important ones are forthcoming and haven’t happened yet. Not being able to list anything beyond the current year 2021 means I can’t list my most important residencies I’ve been accepted to on my website. Please help me be able to list those!! Thanks so much!
