As far as apps for high end headphones go this is a pretty good however dated looking interface. This app is great aside from the excessive crashes. Whenever I am trying to fix some EQ settings it would crash trying to load them. Rendering the app just about useless if you catch it on a bad day.
App is slow and hangs a lot but it gets the job done if you need to set the EQ or check settings. Their names are confusing since they have 3 different apps in the app store. They should really rename them to Audeze Speakerphone, Audeze Headphones and Audeze Cipher or something to make it clear which app works for each device. This one works for Maxwell though. Better yet, wish it was all just 1 app. Also the support link takes you to their zendesk support agent login screen instead of the user facing help center 😂
I purchased a new iPhone and the Apple brand usb-c to lightning adapter so that I could use my Audeze isine headphones and adjust the EQ with the app. The good part is that with the adapter I can play music but the app can not find my headphones. It obviously is something with the new Apple adapter not being able to communicate with the Audeze app. So you can play music but the app is unusable. I don’t usually use an EQ but with these headphones the midrange is definitely in need of some toning down. So maybe someday Audeze will fix the app so that it can communicate with Apples new adapter. But for now I’m going back to my sennheisers.
Trying to get my headphones tondo and sound the way they are supposed to is impossible! Can’t even get there apps to recognize or do what they are supposed to! It tells me use the email I used to register the reveal plug in I purchased… why do I need a plug-in for an app? I downloaded the trial can’t launch it because I don’t use a DAWS so I downloaded one, guess what it won’t work 👀👀👀 seriously frustrating almost makes me want to send them back and say F it! Audeze get your crap together!
This app was a mess early on, but it is much improved. Still needs a few minor tweaks, but solid overall. Audeze if you are listening please add ONE key feature: PEQ. If you add PEQ (parametric equalization) this would make the Maxwell & HQ combo the un contested best value in audio. Thank you.
This is a high-end headset app, it does not work properly.
It crashes constantly, good looking interface but it is worth nothing if it does not work as it should. 3 stars because it used to work (weeks ago). Now the EQ does not work at all. It stays in the loading screen.
Simple app, but the most important feature (EQ) isn't working for me. Everytime I go to the EQ tab, it gets stuck loading forever. Everything else works fine besides that. I keep having to use the Mac app to change EQ, which is getting annoying.
This feels as if it was designed by Chinese. Try to guess what the “Engineers” were thinking. No deductive or inductive reasoning applied here. A simple instructions as “Hey Dummy, do this not that” would work. Headphones are useless without the proper EQ plain and simple. If this apps was done right it would solidify the intrinsic value of the headphones. Listing the models of headphones that are compatible would be nice as well. Until then Bow down and pray.
Adjusting the EQ in app results in the app crashing every single time, and then also permanently lowers the volume to the point it is barely heard. No way to factory reset on the headset either, so you’re screwed until you get to a computer to reset it. Unfortunately I am traveling for the next week so it looks like I can’t use my headphones.
Admittedly this is confusing (cipher v2 vs v1, which is not obviously designated on the iems themselves), but probably not worth tanking the overall ratings of this perfectly fine app.
Do not t try to use the eq function on this app with the Audeze Maxwell unless you have a computer with the Audeze app installed. The eq section of the app can freeze and crash lowering the volume of the Maxwell greatly and cannot be remedied until you connect via usb to a computer and select an EQ setting on the PC Audeze maxwell app
The only thing that functions in this application is the ability to turn sidetone on/off and adjust the level of sidetone. Everything else freezes and/or crashes the app.
I purchased the Maxwells for Xbox and you can’t connect to the app while the dongle is connected. Adjustments lag . This is a horrible interface. Seriously thinking about asking to return my headset. This is crap for a 329 dollar headset.
Not sure if it is a coincidence but ever since iOS 17.4.1, the app displays “DEVICE CONNECTING…” with a spinning icon regardless if my cipher cable is connected. Rebooting phone and reinstalling app makes no difference. Was working fine on iOS 17.4.0. This is on an iPhone 14 Pro with iSine 20.
Doesn't work well with my Maxwell. Using EQ is pretty much why you'll be using this for and going to EQ tab goes to infinite loading screen. Dev should fix this as it's a most used feature.
Please fix this app. Make it so I can access it while playing on the dongle. Fox the noise gate on the side tone so i don’t hear the AI filter when nothing is playing. And let me eq my voice out.
The desktop app won’t connect to the headphones (wired) even though I can use them. And now this app can’t connect. Hardware is good but the software side is TERRIBLE
For a “premium” tooted brand, this app is horrible. I feel bad for anyone, who like me, purchased the Maxwell and has to put up with a software designed by a toddler.
I have both this Audeze HQ and the Audeze app installed on my phone. Only the Audeze app recognizes the cable and is able to check the firmware and apply EQ settings
Great fix for almost all the problems with original Cipher cable
I was lucky enough to spot the new second gen Cipher cable at RMAF and immediately ordered it from Audeze. I love the new cable and I have a couple thoughts about the app. 1) It seems to have fixed all the bugs with the original app such as not saving presets, only working intermittently, etc. Very appreciated. 2) The EQ at reset position seems to be much more neutral than the original. I believe that the original had a peak around 1000k-4000k that I had to tone down 1-2db. This was also mentioned by several reviewers including Innerfidelity. The new app starts everything at a balanced level and lets the user tweak it to their preference. 3) I spoke to Mark from Audeze and he said the new cable complied with Apple’s updated MFi protocol. He explained that the biggest difference is a higher power output from the lightning port but there isn’t a change in the audio quality itself. From my listening, it sounds like the iSines stay much more balanced at higher listening volumes. I can’t be sure if these two things are related, but it makes for a better listening experience either way. Eventually the bottom button will be programmable so I’m waiting to see what that brings. Overall this is a great response by Audeze to correct some issues with the first build and a worthwhile upgrade to the iSines.
Excellent app for the superb iSine10/20 and LCD-i4
Audeze has created an app that boosts the performance of your IEMs by allowing you to save your EQ presets within the cable itself and therefore lets you use multiple Audeze IEMs without loosing your presets for each one! In addition, this app can be closed after you preset your EQ because it is stored in the cable’s memory chip, thus allowing you to use any music app of your choice!! This app is a must if you own the Audeze iSine10 or iSine20 which both come with the Lightning Cypher cable, or LCD-i4 (Lightning cable purchased separately).
It would be perfect if the app has at least 5 presets, my albums range from classical to folk to alternative to classic rock to progressive metal and more which all need some tweaking of their own other than that it's the best eq app out there!
With Maxwell, Audeze HQ enables you to adjust the 10-band EQ, and save up to four presets, or choose from the six built-in presets. You can also adjust sidetone level, game/chat mix, and much more. Tailor the sound and functions of Maxwell to suit your taste and needs.
