Intuitive app; LOVE Parametric EQ!

I use the AT-Connect app with two different pairs of headphones - the over-ear ATH-M50X50BT2 (Lantern Glow) and the true wireless ATH-CKS50TW. The app functions are very similar, and for both models there’s a customizable graphic EQ in addition to presets. Only the M50BT2 has the additional parametric EQ, which is great & really allows the knowledgeable user to adjust the sound on a more granular level. I wish Audio Technica would include the parametric option for its earbuds, too! Regardless, it is among the best of these kinds of apps.

Simply Abysmal

For a high-end audio company, you wouldn’t think it after this app. No EQ adjustment for my $200+ headphones? I’m sorry, is this 1995? Even Sennheiser has that available for its $40 earbuds. A 90 minute firmware update only to then tell me to plug it into a computer to complete? You need to inform the user about requiring a computer for updates BEFORE it starts otherwise I wouldn’t have rendered my headphones useless for this 4 hour trip! How did this not occur to anyone before pushing the update? You had time to make that ridiculous diagram showing how to push all three side-buttons, the janky-at-best touch pad, AND your phone screen all at the same time as a step in the update process. Can’t wait for to not be able to use them at my destination either. The power switch is software based so with a functionally bricked headset I can’t even turn it off! Just way too many quality of life features (that are pretty basic I’d say) are missing and I’m very disappointed.

Better than nothing

I just want to say that compared to having to app at all, this is way better. While you can't get as many features as I would hope from a professional audio company (I do know that almost all of there Bluetooth product are not professional, and that the app isn't meant for professional's) it is pretty handy that you pretty easily change your devices name, type of Bluetooth signals, and your current battery life, I feel like the 1 hour update for my headphones, and the fact that there's no equalizer/any audio costomization at all for my headphones (I have the Mx50bt) is pretty disappointing. Saying that, I am still happy that there is any app at all. Thanks Audio Technica (That wasn't sarcastic)

“Side Tone” randomly keeps turning on.

I have the ATH-M50xBT2 and the app works fine but the Side Tone(where you hear your voice on Siri, dictation and phone calls) randomly keeps turning on. The app is suppose to save all of the setting to the headphones, and I wonder if all of the mods I made via this app like equalizer settings, etc. are being lost as well. In my opinion, the Side Tone sounds awful and I never want to use it because it sounds grainy/scratchy and maybe delayed. So it’s really annoying when it keeps turning on. Sony’s more expensive 1000xM4’s version of side tone(not sure what they call it) is much better sounding, so I know it can be done better and I hope Audio-Technica can upgrade the Side Tone quality and fix it so it stops randomly turning on. Sidenote: I do love the overall sound quality of my ATH-M50xBT2 headphones! I prefer their sound over any Bluetooth headphones I have listened to(The equalizer in this app helped me get the sound that I totally enjoy )Thank you Audio-Technica! If Audio-Technica fixes the Side Tone from randomly turning on, I would raise my star rating to four or five stars.

ATH-SR50BT Headphones connect to my phone just fine and you are able to control a few options that make the use of customizable options. It’s nothing crazy, but it works, which makes it a much better experience! GO AUDIO TECHNICA! You listened!

App is great but almost never needed.

While this app is great in its current capabilities, I agree which what some others have said about it need info to offer more then codec for audio controls. Also the fact that I need to use it to get the actual battery status because the battery status info the iPhone gets is only updated when the headphones first connect. I have gotten low battery alert from the headphones and checked battery status via the iPhone’s display ( in the widgets section) it never changes until I disconnect and re-connect.

Consistently Fails to Sync or Discover M50x

This app was able to connect to my M50x once. I disconnected the headphones from my iPhone X and connected to another device (Win10 laptop), upon reconnecting, the synchronization step always fails in the app, IF it’s able to detect the headphones at all (about 10% of the time, only after I’ve gone through the 5-ish step process of connect/disconnect/pair/unpair/off/on, etc) Before going for a one-star review, I tried: - turning headphones off and back on - disconnecting and reconnecting headphones - disconnecting and unpairing from all other devices - uninstalling and reinstalling the app - “forgetting” and reestablishing a pairing with the iPhone X - being within 1m of the phone (mentioning this since this was the in-app troubleshooting advice- not very comprehensive) So, the app for modifying headphone settings is unable to modify headphone settings, making it useless. AT is doing right by encouraging us to abandon bluetooth, I suppose.

Good basic headphones app

(I have the m50xBT) It lets you chose between what codec you want, shows you your battery percentage, lets you update your firmware, and change your headphone’s name. Very easy to use and navigate

app doesn’t work, headphones don’t work

ath m50x-bt don’t work. they disconnect for no reason(both on iphone 15 latest os, and iphone 11 running older os). this issue is prevalent with many customers’ headphones. audio technical customer support is garbage, as well as their app that won’t update my headphones or even connect to the headphones most times. very disappointed because i know audio technica is a ‘reliable’ brand. i will be listening to anything and then i hear ‘bluetooth disconnected’ and the headphones spaz out repeating this uncontrollably until i manually have to shut them off, turn my bluetooth on and off, and then connect again. this app also has issues specifically with these headphones and this is a problem the company knows about. disappointing

Why can’t it disable voice assistant?

One star review until I can disable the voice assistant button completely. I don’t need to accidentally call people when I take off my headphones since the button is way too easy to accidentally push. I had to change to using alexa, and that only works because I don’t have that app installed. It still annoys me with a voice telling me to install alexa, but better than calling random people on accident.

Great headphones, app is meh….

I love my ATH-M50XBT headphones! But I feel like the app could have more customization. Maybe a hearing test with test tones that analyzes your hearing and customizes the listening experience specifically for the individual listening. Or maybe an EQ with preset curves and customizable equalization. Either way the app seems lazy. The headphones are fantastic but the app is very lackluster. Update: Since the IOS 16 update this app will no longer sync up with my ATH-M50X headphones.

Love them a lot!

Even though these wireless headphones are much more expensive they have been very reliable and very comfortable and consistent. You know what to do!!!!!👍🏽❤️

WISH I COULD DISABLE VOICE ASSISTANT BUTTON or make it require a long press instead of a short press. I keep pressing this button by accident. Otherwise app seems to work nicely! They added EQ settings (which I will leave flat) and let you tweak certain settings on headphones.

Minimalistic

Simple and easy to use. The UI need some update because the ( x ) button in the setting is too close to the battery icon and it is hard to press it on an iphone 14 pro max. Would be nice if you guys add swipe left gesture to go back.

This app does not work with iOS 16

Fortunately, my headphones will still pair with my iPad, but the app will not synchronize. The only function that I am really missing is the noise-canceling profile and the battery level, but iOS 16 has been out for a few weeks now. Is anyone at Audio-Technica on this?

This app does not identify ATH- M20xBT headphones

Today I have received my headphones connected to Bluetooth and trying to connect to the app it’s not working. I use iPhone 14 Pro Max tried several ways but nothing worked. Not sure if any issue going with this app but totally disappointed and I may return these headphones as I may not have full control without connecting to the app.

I think it adds a new virtual world to other wise past analog equipment

The app is fun to tweak the parametric EQ. My only concern is the EQ isn’t very strong or noticeable. I wish there was more bass. But all in all in enjoy it

No Functionality!

in 2019 if you’re going to choose to have an app, please make it useful. Gave it a 2 for choosing audio codecs and simply working but this app isn’t in any form useful. Could use a redesign + added functionality such as an Equalizer and possibly your media library.

Missing Functionality

Would really appreciate the ability to adjust equalizer and maybe change the button functionality (would really appreciate the ability to disable summoning Siri/google assistant from the side of the ear cup).

Don’t waste your time

Awful app. No ability to change equalizer settings outside of changing codecs. The firmware update process is broken, and can ruin your headphones if you’re unsuccessful. For such an excellent company to put out such a terrible app is shocking. Just enjoy your headphones out of the box and fine even bother with this app.

Horrible App

Why would anyone make firmware update so complicated (with pressing all button this that). Sigh! Pathetic! Update fails at 99%. Having tried it several times, I finally uninstalled the app. It’s frustrating experience to wait for almost 80-90 minutes every single time and fail at 99%.

Eq and sound enhancements.

It would be nice if there was a great EQ and sound enhancement settings with some thought put into it. EQ, bass boost, soundstage widening, dynamic range enhancements. Lots you could do to make your app match the level of your headphones! Think about it.

Very disappointed

Didn’t work. Even tried to tap both earbuds at the same time and no yellow lights to try to pair. I’ve been disappointed by Japanese audio brands too many times now. Won’t happen again…

Doesn’t work at all

Cant not get the app to connect to my m50x-bt on an iPhone 12 pro, 13 pro, or 14 pro max. The headphones work great, the connect via Bluetooth just fine, but the app has never not failed with a “connection failed” error. Total garbage.

Can’t even use the codec to my ATH-M50xbt

I am conected to the device via Bluetooth and the product displays but this app has very little functionality and the only thing it does have is codec still doesn’t work for me so what’s the bug idea?

Needs iPad app.

I recently bought the ATH-M50xBT2 for usage with my iPad Mini 6. Sad to find out there’s no iPad version. Why do all you headphone manufacturers only concentrate on phones? Will update my review if AT release an iPad version, because these app is useless to me without it.

Completely Useless

This app tells me to connect to my headphones via Bluetooth when they’re already connected. It knows my headphone but despite this, I can never proceed to the next step, since the app eternally thinks I haven’t connected yet 🤷🏻‍♂️

I love my headphones the app is trash

Glitchy and pointless essentially does nothing. The locate function sort of works, but really just tells you the last place you connected to the headphones. So if someone yoinks them it’s useless. Don’t waste time with this app. Great headphones, though.

The keys are unmatched

In the latest version, my ATH- TWX9 does not match the assignment, eg, Left 1 pause for play/pause but nothing happens. All others keys’ assignment are mis matched. Please fix!

Doesn’t detect headphones

Connected my ATH M50X headphones to this, it shows them on the menu, but the start option is grayed out! Unbelievable. I can’t access any of the headphone settings

Pointless App

The app constantly fails to update the headset software via Bluetooth. It’s really the only function of this app. Don’t use it for earphone firmware updates. It’s worthless.

Terrible app

While the headphones are great for most part, this app is completely useless. Updating firmware is impossible and a horrid process that fails every time.

Every time I use the app to update the firmware of my ATH-M50xBT it updates for 90 minutes then restarts with an error. Completely useless.

Never Worked
