BankNewport has always made transactions easy for customers. Since May of 2020, I have been nothing but impressed with their services, hours of operations and accessibility. Sincere thanks to everyone in their branches. They made refinancing, opening up accounts for my children, and credit monitoring as easy as it should be.
Something has changed with this App over the past month or so. It is now very slow to react compared to my other banking apps. All the features and functions work as designed but just takes very long to the point where you think the app is not responding and you close it and re open it just to realize it is that slow.
Cannot use Face ID. And I use 32 character minimums for passwords. You try remembering that every time. It fails to authenticate every single time I launch the app. I have to close and relaunch minimum 5 times to get through. Which is a pain. My card limit cannot be raised. It denies rent for 1500$ and does not show up on their system anywhere. Nobody has been able to figure it out. And support don’t give me your generic please call this number. I did that. And jumped through hoops for hours with no resolution. I’ve already had the bad taste. I’ve looked into a new bank.
An interbank check deposited from one BN account to another BN account has not been acknowledged 3 days later. The accounts have different association numbers as one is business. It is impossible to reach anyone by phone to gain assistance. Thank you.
This is the singular mobile banking app I use that routinely locks up at the login stage. Regardless, log in is always a PITA because after entering my ID, the screen closes before allowing the Password to be entered. It’s like playing whack-o-mole to continue. Clearing a lockup requires a refresh of the app. Waiting isn’t a cure. Timely transactions are routinely missed due to these shortcomings. And the length of time required to cut/mail a check is unacceptable. Frustration is mounting. I have six open accounts and a mortgage here. Local staff is great and the app works well when it’s working. But If I were to chose a bank based solely on the app experience this wouldn’t be it.
When will they stop trying to fix what is not broken?
Great Bank but the latest version of this app is worse than having nothing at all. It is merely a tease. I used to use it all the time on my iPad but now it will only open it after taking a couple of laps around the World Wide Web so it is more convenient to actually go to the bank than it is to bank online. When I actually waited for it to load the free for all graphic layout was like playing a game of match the lines! It was lightning fast on my trusty old iPhone 5 but they fixed that because it forced me to update it before I ever use it again, but that was a misnomer because now it won't allow me to update the app. So now I have two mobile devices that I cannot use it on. What's more they will probably replace it with something that will be really spiffy and need IOS 47 so we all have to buy new phones to use it so it can be as good as it was before they improved it. If I could give it less stars and still rate it I would.
It gets stuck almost every day and I have to delete it and reinstall. SO GLITCHY!!!!! Aside from being glitchy it is not even up to date. There is often no records or deposits or transactions. I deposited a check at 2 pm in person at my branch and there is no record in my app. Can you PLEASE fix this app?!?!?! I depend on it
I’ve had this app since January and haven’t had any issues it worked wonderfully! However for the past month you can’t get it to load it takes about 30 minutes just to get to the password screen. It’s States that it fixed the bugs and slowness however it’s nothing bus worst. I think I’m going to switch banks I need to see what’s coming out of my account. The drive through atm at the Johnston RI location on atwood Avenue never works. Due to covid you can’t go inside and they are taking money out of my account for bank of Newport perks that I never signed up for. Managing your money should be easy with a bank app. For get this app it’s just a waste of time. Whither your in WiFi or on data it doesn’t work.
I hate it when an app is "upgraded", and all it serves is to make it harder to use! I do not like the latest version! Unless you are very careful to keep your finger on the extreme edge of the screen, it is impossible to scroll down the list of your transactions without accidentally going to another screen; then it's a pain to get back. And unless I am missing something, they've taken away the capability to search your account for specific check numbers. The ability to find out if a check has been deposited should be a feature of any online banking app. I miss the old version!
Still trying to activate fingerprint and facial recognition. It locks up or tells me to call customer service. I tell it to remember me, but it doesn’t. Keeps asking me about my parents. There’s no way to see what was entered at the log-in, so a minor typo goes undetected until the end. Do that three times and you’re locked out. My wife and i are new customers. We moved allour banking to BN but we giving serious thought to going through the hassle of moving our banking to a different bank. We dread wrestling with the digital banking software. One of the BN staffers advised us to delete everything and start over.
The app is now usable…it sends txt codes and stopped asking security questions…not sure if it’s fixed for everyone of if you need to talk to them individually
Not sure why it is so hard for your developers to update an app so it at least loads and allows login. Have not been able to login for over a week now. If any of my other banks were like this, I would clean out my accounts and move on, fortunately for BankNewport, this is my Mother’s go to bank and I have to keep the accounts there. Poor quality control, so some testing before you release updates that make things worse!
The BankNewport mobile app for iOS 14.0.1 DOES NOT WORK. It never finishes loading...It’s not an internet issue. Would really appreciate a fix or at least a return to a version that works.... can’t do are banking...... Thanks.
Seriously, why fix what isn't broken. The old app was MUCH better. As the person above me also said, you CANNOT scroll through your account activity without it sliding you over to the menu screen! It's ridiculous, annoying, and NOT even usable! Why make it so sensitive that you can't even scroll? I only use app now to view my balance, otherwise, I have no use for it! Ugh!
Wow. Bank is great. App is bad. Have spent more time trying to fix glitches and have had to call customer service more than I would like to. And it’s unattractive. Please upgrade it. I really want to like it. ***Update—got an email saying compatibility upgrade coming soon. Sure hope so
I share other users’ concerns about the less than friendly nature of the screen controls. And, for some reason I have been unable to fathom, fingerprint login recently stopped working. I guess it’s time to delete and reinstall the app to see if that fixes it.
There really is nothing like waiting 7-10 minutes to access my banking information and being met with a blank drop down menu called ‘fast balances’ while waiting. This is a joke, I’m moving to Ally... sorry but this app is junk and so are your new lobby’s. FYI
Since the recent upgrade or fixes the app hasn’t worked properly. The loading time and freezing is almost to the point where you can’t even use app. A huge inconvenience for someone that really relies on mobile banking. Bank Newport please figure it out.
Like other recent reviews the app doesn’t work. It won’t load and keeps crashing. All other banking apps work fine. It would be nice to get the app back working again so customers could actually use mobile banking.
I give it 1 star only because I cannot give it negative 5 stars. Does not work properly, crashes. I could drive to BankNewport and deposit a check in the time it takes to use this app. Keep your blood pressure down and avoid this app.
Have not been able to get into BillPay... Keeps saying browser is blocking cookies. Aren’t I using the BankNewport iPad app and not a separate browser?
This app has been running super slow for two weeks. It’s completely useless to me when it’s like this. I swear this bank goes down the tubes a little more with each passing year.
The app is OK but username and password must be entered each login. It essentially prevents you from using a long complex password. My other banking apps have fingerprint access. This one seems primitive.
Have tried several times to get to Bill pay site, but it keeps saying cookies are blocked....they re not. Deleted app and reinstalled, still not working! THis is ridiculous, I can’t even pay by bills!! Spent an entire night doing diagnostics with Apple support thinking it was my IPAD, nope just a crappy app! Getting real tired of this, has been doing this for over a week now.FIX IT!
