I like that I can access and set the alarm once I’ve gotten in my car. Sometimes you come out to your car with your hands full and makes it difficult to set the alarm inside. Another bonus: disarming before opening the door. I often work late into the early morning hours and sometimes come home while my family is asleep. It’s nice to be able to disarm the system and not risk the waking people up.
We have had our system at our business for about 4 years. Periodically the app has been glitchy but for the most part it has worked, and it’s handy to get arming/disarming notifications as well as be able to do so remotely. But in the last few months it’s been mostly ineffective. A nice tech person came out (and our experience with people from bay alarm is positive), but we understand it has something to do with the radio and us not being Verizon customers. So for now, we have to remember to use the keypad, and wish we had a more reliable app for remote use. Seems like it should be better than that, but what can you do? Appreciate that there’s always a real person soon in the line if you need to call for help. Update9/24: we had a very long period of great functionality. In late august, the app and our system stopped communicating again. It took multiple calls to bay alarm and some time, but it seems to be back. Bay Alarm service is great, the app wonderful, when it works. Which it is again and am grateful for that.
AAA has a better system the insurance company.. what a slap in the face
This company focuses on one service security. Unlike its competitors who have a multiple services they provide to the consumer, this company soul purpose a security. The alarm is expensive considering it’s packages and technologies. The app is delayed in arming and disarming often leading to unarmed home or alarm being triggered due to unresponsive or lagging communication between app and system. Recently I called to report an issue and was informed that there was a update for the system and inquired how I can be made aware of future updates and was told updates were not sent over air and I had to call to inquire if update was available. Bay alarm pride themselves on being in the Industry for a number of years. however, it’s competitors are very new to the industry and have a leading technology, services, and processes.
This app has never worked correctly. Nor did its predecessor. It takes forever to open/load and the police could show up before the app lets you in to shut of the alarm. I’ve had constant problems that Bay Alarm’s tech support has sort of fixed, only for it to fail again within weeks. Every time I call for support, I’m told the last tech missed a setting that is now supposedly set. This is a lie that will be repeated until I finally switch companies. As of this review, I cannot turn notifications on or off. The app says “Error saving push notification changes. Try again later.” I’ve gotten this for over a day. All notifications show “off”, but I get non-stop notifications every time someone walks past a particular motion sensor. I can’t wait to hear what today’s excuse will be.
So I forgot to get the alarm system set up prior to moving in to my new office last week. Michael at Bay Alarm took great care of me. he and his colleague found an open spot (held for emergencies) to install my system 2 weeks earlier than planned. The staff at Nau Alarm knows what they are doing and could not be more of a pleasure to interact through the entire process. When the app works, it’s great. We’ve got a long walk from the door to the keypad, so it’s nice to be able to disarm the system before opening the door. The problem is that it often takes several tries to get the app to work. Lots of logging on, restarting the app, turning the network off and on before it’ll connect. Then once it’s connected, it can be really slow to actually disarm. I don’t know if there was a recent app update, but things seem to have gotten worse in the last month or two.
The list of daily alarms does not update when the App is launched; needs to be manually requested and takes a while to load. Would be nice to have it be refreshed automatically on App launch.
App freezes and doesn’t work even when standing right next to router. Really unsettling when you get a notification that there’s motion at your front door at 4 AM but then you can’t access the video footage. Then you call the company for “24/7 customer service” and there’s no way to go on your PC to access the information and they can’t help you in any way to see who may have been hovering around your front door at 4 AM. I’m so disappointed with Bay Alarm. I’m counting down the days until my contract ends with them.
Do not trust your business to these guys for their unstable app
In all my years of running businesses or being in charge of facilities, I have never had an experience so core as I’ve had with Bay Alarm and their app. It is unstable it locks up and you think you have it set and it turns out it’s not! We have had multiple break-ins and they have been zero assistance or help despite the fact that they’re supposed to help us not have these thefts and break-ins! I would run to somebody else as your security provider for your business or home!
This app is trash. I’ve had it for over a year. If I want to be notified of alarms, I have to leave notifications turned on. The app in theory has a screen where you can toggle which events generate notifications. But none of the toggle switches work. I can’t turn them on or off. As a result, I get hundreds of door open/close notifications per day that I have to ignore, just so I can also get notified if an alarm is triggered.
I’ve been using them over 10 years for work and home. The app gives me convenience and peace of mind when away for long periods or vacation. Sometimes I forget and still able to set it later from home for my shop. I recommend the app for sure!🤘
I've used multiple different security platforms with other providers and this one is hands down my favorite. It has proven to be the most user-friendly app. Very reliable. I love that I'm notified of anything going on with my system immediately. I highly suggest Bay Alarm and this app.
The app doesn’t always connect (I get a spinning wheel of death) which is really annoying when trying to disarm so I can get into the garage (especially when it doesn’t connect and I have to park / unload two kids and all our stuff when I should just be able to disarm so I can pull into the garage). But when it does work, it’s great.
The app is convenient for sure, but unfortunately there are constant issues with the app timing out before arming/disarming is complete. Usually takes 2-3 tries to get a confirmation. At one point I had stopped receiving notifications and had to go into settings to turn them off/back on for them to start coming again. So still a bit buggy, but overall nice to have.
The excuse is “security reasons” and it can work if you provide an IP address where you’re connecting from so the can white list it. Sure, let me call my vacation destination and ask for their IP address. Your customers travel. Get better security. Also, every time I have a problem, they can’t solve it. Or it takes days until I find someone that knows enough to be able to help. I end up needing to figure things out on my own.
There seems to always be connection problems, especially after I update my iPhone. The app will work great for about a week or so, and then I’ll have to call for a tech person to look over my system. Unfortunately, the system I have requires the app so I can view the camera and doorbell, but now the doorbell seems to be spotty at times when trying to do a live view.
If this app is working, it works great. But it only works about 25% of the time whether I have to restart my phone constantly to get my camera slowed or when the app stalls while trying to arm the house. Has lots of bugs and needs to be fixed, especially with the money we’re paying for the system. You would think they’d have enough tech-support to figure out an app
Unable to arm and disarm alarm. Takes several tries for it to arm or disarm and even then it may say disarmed on the app but you enter your business and alarm goes off because even though it says disarmed in the app it never got to the actual alarm. Wish the apples worked better. As is it is pretty unusable only thing it is good for is to add and remove users and to get alarm alerts on your phone. As for arming and disarming it is crap.
What a great function for monitoring our facility. This gives us so much more monitoring not only from Bay alarm but also for the facility staff. I love this and am looking at having the same thing in another center that I work in.
Don’t know if it’s the app or the network or what, but we are now paying extra every month to have a slow-as-molasses experience in setting our alarm via this app. Before, we would walk up to our keypad and be done in moments. Now, we apparently have to wait for the “mother ship” to bless us through the app. Would never have moved to this system if Bay Alarm hadn’t told us we had to.

When the app is working, it’s fantastic. When the app is down, it seems that Bay Alarm has no idea what’s happening. There is good and there is bad with this app. For this reason I give them only five stars
App does not work all the time. Errors come up stating try logging in again and then still unable to log in and when I called they could not even log in remotely. States connection lost a lot of times even when all other devices and programs are still working fine. Alarm being set off is not always sent to app.
The app doesn’t notify me all the time sometimes one of my alarm goes off in my building and the app doesn’t tell me until minutes later and when somebody on arms the building it doesn’t tell me at all so I have to constantly be logging in and logging off so I can reset the app please fix that bug
Over the past 2 months I have to re-enter my password, change my password and/or uninstall and reinstall the app to get it to work. I thought it was just me until a contractor working at my house asked if I used the app and how bad it was, then checked with my sister, brother-in-law and my mom who have Bay Alarm… 2 of out of the 3 having the same issues! Horrid experience.
The app is super convenient and easy to use when arming and disarming. However, 10% of the time it doesn’t work. It stalls as if it’s thinking every once in awhile. Nothing is perfect, everything has a glitch I guess. Overall, I would recommend this app to everyone!
No history and tricky to know if what you see is what you get
I have a love-hate relationship with this app. When it works as expected, it is wonderful. When I cannot connect or I try to retrieve history, things are very bad. It is better than NOT having an app for the alarm, but only just.
Love that I can disarm as I park. Also should I be stopped in traffic miles from my office and employees need entry I can disarm. I can also check to see who armed my system last (employee or cleaning crew).
Extraordinarily over priced. Non responsive. We are a small non profit in west Oakland and I genuinely disappointed with the lack of timely follow up, service and overall customer care. There contracts are set up in a way that are exploitative. Looking for a new security firm that is much more community centered and needs responsive to the average working h customer.
Lately the app has been glitching a lot. It shows the systems as disarmed when in fact they have been armed. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. It worked ok for a few days but now it’s doing it again.
This app works well for remotely arming and disarming the alarm. It’s also nice to see when the alarm is disarmed and armed. It’s a great way to track employee hours.
This app looks and feels like it was built in 2005. The security product is actually great. But the app is my least favorite part of the experience with the company. Time for an investment and upgrade in the representation of your product—prioritize the technology that represents your product with users.
This app rarely works. I am constantly logged off or denied permission to arm/disarm zones. The app frequently crashes. I also regularly trip alarms because the app is often wrong about a zone being disarmed when it is actually armed. Pretty basic functions (really, the only functions) that are poorly designed. Overall, I really dislike using this app.
The alarm system often does not disarm with a mobile device. Employees often get locked out of the workspace due to shoddy service. We often have to try time and time again sometimes for up to an hour to have our alarms disarmed
I impulsively got bay alarm for my home… I really wish I went with something more modern. Bay alarms app is really janky. It hardly works and you can tell while using it they hired the cheapest group of people to build the app. I’m basically putting my family’s safety behind this janky company… I’m a bad man
