A nice app, which intends to streamline sending necessary document securely. However, having the ability to upload PDFs would be a lot easier than snapping pics.
For the second time, I had to fill in all the blanks and the very last question didn’t have any choice that was my Borough. I submitted anyway because it’s the second time I’ve done this and I don’t owe anything anyway. They should make 100% certain that everything is correct before they let people use this tool or have a choice where you can write in. It was a pulldown menu that had no other options, and you couldn’t submit until you put something in that cell. When it first didn’t work, I called and they told me to wait till February snd the app would be up snd working. There’s no excuse; I told them the problem and it should’ve been reported and corrected.
If you file your return the old fashioned way, you fill out the paper form, stick it in the envelope Berkheimer provides and mail it with your W-2. If you file on line, you have to fill out the paper form, provide identification on line, take pictures of the paper form and the W-2, provide additional information on line and then submit. It’s significantly more effort and more time consuming than just mailing the form after it’s filled out. I tried it this year to see how it works, but I will never file on line again and I can’t imagine why anyone would, unless they are filing on the last possible day or are out of the country.
It is a joke that PA even uses these people to collect surprise taxes. I have taxes taken out of my paycheck every week yet they’re still looking for a handout. They “send letters” that never get received and then when you get a certified letter from these idiots and you explain to them that you never received the first notice their response is “well we send them out every year.” Then they charge you $30 for the certified letter to collect $5. Seriously??? Then you think it’s “convenient” to pay on their app. Another cash grab. They charge a fee to process it. Guess it’s back to the having to work for your $5 tax and garnishing it. Ridiculous.
I submitted documents through this app to show I paid my local taxes. They were never received and there is no record that I even sent them. Long story short, my wages were garnished by my employer until I resent the documents through e-mail and cleared my account. From now on, I will only e-mail! Now I have to wait a month to receive a refund check from Berkheimer, which is hard when you really need your whole paycheck!
Would be nice to alert people that you charge a convenience fee as soon as they input the bill number etc. I didn’t see it until I spent the time choosing payment type, card numbers, etc. then, luckily, on the last screen see the “convenience fee” notation of well over $100 for my real estate tax bill. Guess you’ll have to wait to get the paper check in the mail. As fast as I downloaded the app, I deleted it. Now I can’t even use my name as a nickname. Ridiculous!
High processing fees and endless fill in the blanks
Nothing like a $2 processing fee to send a $4.50 transaction via ACH. As a millennial that hardly ever uses mail, this app is decidedly worse than snail mail. You still have to manually fill out each field listed on your paper bill just to look up what you owe, because apparently they don’t link your account with your outstanding bills automatically. I’d expect better from a company that gets cuts on all tax revenue in PA.
Was set up on a payment plan. Tried it for the first time , payment was completed in less than 1 minute. Will definitely use this for every payment going forward.
The app is very easy to use. The only downfall is thing is being charged $2.00 for convenience fee to pay through the app. Times are tough nowadays, pay rates don’t go up-but the bills do.
Although the app is convenient it is unfair to overcharge or add any fees to the bill if you are paying it early! I paid my bills when I received them and now I have to pay 2 extra dollars for a processing/ convenient fee is ridiculous! We’re in a pandemic right now and it’s ridiculous that companies are nickel and diming you are every opportunity they get!
2.00 dollar convenience is ridiculous considering I am paying my bill early and should receive the 2.00% discount. But since I am using the app I am actually paying .60 cents more than if I waited until the last date to pay my bill.
I got them done but it took some doing. At first it seemed it saying i needed to have done a paper local tax form to move on. When i went back to see if there was another way forward to file electronically it eventually let me do it.
This app needs to be changed. I couldn’t even find my account to make the payment. My account number is smaller than what they are asking for, and there is an empty box at the bottom of the same page that doesn’t have a reason for what they are asking for.
Not sure why I, not being a contract worker, receive a tax statement every year. Many in my county have no idea who these people are and are also working every day. I was owed a refund one year which was never received then I get a bill saying I owe. Local taxes are taken from my paycheck every 2 weeks. This is criminal. How do you pick and choose. I am a single mother of 2 children in college. Who are you????
This tax type is not clearly identified in the list of options, which required me to make several arbitrary attempts to match the tax to the correct category.
The app is 4 years old but still has a warning that it is new and won’t support everything. Basic modern features are missing such as moving to the next text box when the expect number of digits are entered and Apple Pay. Then they have the nerve to charge a 20% convenience fee.
What a ridiculous pile of garbage for the login process. I pass this task off to my wife every year because of it, until she gives up and I get to do it anyways. We’d just mail it if there was a clear way to do so, instead we get to fight with this.
Did they not read the information correctly? I thought that if I used a debit card rather than a charge card, there would be no fee. Wrong! I was charged two dollars. I should’ve used a postage stamp and mailed it in.
As others have said, my account number is smaller than what is being asked. I only have 1 set of numbers for my account and there is no dash. There is no bill number on my bill. There should be an explanation in the FAQ’s to address these issues.
I was hoping this app would remember the information I typed in to lookup my account but it didn't. It's literally exactly the same as using their website. There's no point in downloading this.
Additional fees for paying via app exceptionally high. Will only use for very small bills. Have no idea why paying with credit card costs so much and why is there not an option for automatic withdrawal from banking accounts.
Why is there a two dollar convenience fee when I’m doing all the work on my computer nowhere on your flyer insert does it say there’s a two dollar convenience fee please refund me my two dollars
Not that easy may as well fill form out and send the form in. You take pictures of your W2's but still have to write in all your information. Sad this day and age.
I’ve tried to call this company and also email this to ask a question. They Have no phone number available or an email. I call that very poor service by Berkheimer. Just take your money.
If you care you should have a how to video that reflects reality. There is no “bill number” on the bill. The account number is in the wrong format. You must get to pocket all the late fees so create barriers to pay. Great service!
It is unbelievable that in order to pay my per capital tax I had to pay a extra fee to pay online. This is wrong and unethical. If there is a no fee way to do it, it is hidden.
A new easy way to pay your Local Earned Income Tax in Pennsylvania! If you live in a PA district where Berkheimer is the collector, you can use this app to easily submit and file your local EIT tax returns. * Fast, Easy Filing! * Get your refund sooner! * Save time! * Save postage! * Save paper and trees! Currently two scenarios are supported: 1. Submit a completed paper return. If you have completed a Local Earned Income Tax Return, you can take photos of the return, any supporting documents and schedules, enter the amount owed or the refund amount, pay by credit card, and submit your return to Berkheimer. 2. Generate an EZ return if you only have W2s. If your EIT Return can be completed with only W2s, then you can take photos of your W2s and enter your employer and wage information. The app will calculate your tax liability or refund. You can then pay by credit card and submit right in the app. More filing scenarios will be added as we add more functionality to the app. It's all part of our mission to make filing your PA taxes as easy as possible!
