Mislead
During my initial sign up , I had a previous balance . In order to sign up a 100 dollar payment needed to be paid which was fine , I paid it . Then came a security deposit which was also fine and understandable. I was told during that same phone call that the rest of my previous balance as well as my security deposit could be spread out through payments monthly. The first bill came in requiring me to pay full previous balance with the months bill and a portion of security deposit. When I called to find out what was going on with the previous balance I was told that they can’t speed that out unless I pay the security deposit in full and that whoever told me that shouldn’t have told me that cause that’s not how it goes . The problem is , they did tell me that and it’s not my problem that they shouldn’t have . Needless to say , it’s been a stressful struggle to come up with full amount of previous balance at once and I really don’t like the surprise of being told two different things by the same company as well as the first thing I was told ended up being brushed off without any kind of help in them honoring what was first discussed.

When you first login the app clearly states that it will share info about you. There is no way to turn this off and is a login requirement. Per their guidelines: Through your use of our Site and Services we may collect Personal Information (“PI”), which is information that identifies you as an individual or relates to you as an identifiable individual. PI may include, but is not limited to, your first and last name, home or business address, email address, and telephone number. We may also combine the PI that we collect on our Site with information we collect about you offline.

Most Convenient Way to Pay
I previously had scheduled my BG&E Payments directly through my Bank Account and I always felt uncertainty about the synchronization of the eBilling and the Bank ePayment. No need for that concern anymore, I have been using the BG&E App to make my monthly payments on time using my credit card and it is a breeze..! and I get my reward points from my credit card too..!!

Like everything except app won't allow me save notification preferences
All other apps allow me to set up reminder notifications. Every single time I try with this app, I receive an error message stating that it can't be done and to call the customer service center. The reason I have the app is to minimize contacting anyone. All I want is a reminder that my bill is due! Is that so hard to ask for??? BTW, trying to schedule it on the website doesn't work either...SMH By the time you guys get it to work, I would have moved by then. I wish I could have PEPCO. Never had any problems with their app.

No way to update data
iPhone X iOS 11.3 Yesterday my neighborhood had a planned outage. About an hour after it was to start, I checked the app and sure enough it showed that my power was out. A few hours later, I went back into the app to check on things, and found that there’s no way to get an update (reload the information). Clicking on another page of the app and then going back to the outage page didn’t help either. So I closed the app and tried to reopen it, and got a message stating that the app couldn’t be opened and that I should check BGE’s web site. What??? As far as I’m concerned, that makes the app pretty useless.

Peak Rewards Section Needs Repair
I think the app itself is great, but recently it hasn’t been functioning like it has in the past. I’m having the most trouble in the ‘Peak Rewards’ section. There you can turn on/off your unit and adjust the temperature. Each time, it times out and says ‘unable to retrieve data, try again’, but that doesn’t happen in the other sections. 🤔 Plus when you try to edit your weekly timed temperature settings, it reverts back to whatever it was before. I hope this can be fixed because that’s what is holding the app back from being the great resource it once was.

Two annoying problems
1. When attempting to read bill, I try to zoom in. Certain scrolling actions causes the pdf to reload which already takes a long time. 2. Payments (credit card) aren’t reflected immediately so you can’t really tell if anything has been paid. Turns out I made 4 payments in the same month - I think I racked up $1.50x4=$6.00 in convenience fees to boot. Its 2018 where we expect real time feedback (e.g. account credited), not a payment processing message that remains for days. Otherwise the app is very nice, well organized and understandable. But these annoying problems prevent me from wanting to use it so I am just opting for snail mail bills.

I was wondering after reviewing my bill. my monthly usage compared to my budget billing amount doesn’t make sense to me. if my bill is $140 why am I paying a budget billing amount and I’m out of $293. I need someone to explain that to me because that never makes sense to me at all. what is the purpose of having vaginal billing if it’s not assisting you and getting to Bill paid.

I would have given you 5 stars if you would stop charging more money to pay online. You people should be ashamed of yourselves! You practically have a monopoly and then you charge even more to pay online. I’m floored and surprised that you have gotten away with this this long. No one charges to pay online except greedy people. Stop this NOW!

Four kids and freezing
I’m shocked I had a request to write a review, but I’m happy to do so. I am the first to understand the facts of dealing with a weather induced electric outage issue, however, I find it ridiculous that BGE has decided not to answer their phones. As customers we have a right to know what is going on and when our particular address will have it’s power restored, not just online status saying the same thing for three days “assessing”. If necessary we will be showing up at a BGE office tomorrow (with 4 kids in tow) to get some answers. We have been without power, while every street that surrounds us has been restored, for two days and nights.

Like it, but need to change default account
I’ve used the app for years and have moved a couple times. In the past when I moved I was able to change the default account to my new address, but when I moved to a new place in September. It defaults to my old address and will not allow me to change the default to my new address. Please fix this issue. Thanks!

Easy pay
Paying the BGE bill through the app is quick and easy. Be careful to select the correct bill amount, because if you’re a little late paying, it defaults to the total amount due. Otherwise it works well, just enter your information and in a few clicks you’ll be done.

Unreliable bill data reflection
I generally do not have issues, but it’s been quite a few times I go to pay a bill, and there is inaccurate account information. One page will show I owe one amount, and the next will show a completely different amount, or even say I have a credit balance.. By the time the issues are resolved or I stop seeing some sort of “we’re currently experiencing technical issues “ message, my bill is at risk of being late.

Surprisingly good for a utility app
I usually don't expect too much from utility apps, but this one surpassed my expectations. It's clean and easy to use. I was reassured right away that I already paid my bill and all I had to do was look at the home page! Whenever I have an outage, I usually don't do anything, but now I think I will just so I can try that button in the outage tab 😀

Lies
Bge is scamming residents out of their money by lying about the amount of gas that’s being used in these homes. Theirs no way everyone bills have increased by 100 or more in recent times. Bge needs to be investigated for this. Some things just doesn’t add up. I have used less gas over the past month and my bill has been higher the the previous month I even brought a Wi-Fi thermostat to control when I’m not home and still a increase even set it to 68 from 7 am to 6pm and still the bill gets higher at this point I know very well they are lying about prices.

How come I try to pay my past due bill of 3 days late you won’t let me but you will only except both months which I would be paying the next bill 27 days earlier I tried paying, on the phone and on your app this is big business ripping off the working man

Good app but buggy
Sometimes it works flawless and other times it doesn’t really provide the information I want to see like my projected bill and usage. Seems like they aren’t doing enough testing when they are in DEV to weed out these bugs before promoting releases to PROD and making updates available that aren’t ready for the user community.

You can pay your bill
You can pay your bill and sometimes see past bills at a minimum at least you can do those things. It would be nice if some of the features offered in the app were actually functional. It’s also a little frustrating to be suspicious that they are creating an app to cut back from customer servicephone lines, which seem to literally never be open. It be like that sometimes Scooby Doo bop beep beep. No one will read this review. Sometimes my balls stick to the inside of my legs when I drive.

Not allowing me to sign in
Until yesterday I was able to go into the app using Face ID. I tried logging in and it wouldn’t recognize my Face ID so I tried the putting in my password. It tells me that I’ve been signed out because my session expired and to log back in. I tried logging back in several times but I kept getting the session expired messages. I even deleted the app and reinstalled it and it still doesn’t work.

Great service
BGE has provided stable and reasonable priced electricity to my home in over 50 years. When outages occur which are usually caused by trees falling or disasters beyond their control the restored power in a reasonable time. Over the years they have improved communication over the phone and with a great mobile app.

Why continually logged out?
The app is great for checking/reporting outages and seeing bill but am frustrated at continually being auto-logged out of the app. Not sure how accurate the outage map truly is. While on a vacation received a text that there was no power at home but outage map showed no one else in the area had reported on outage? Reportedly this was a large outage event per TV news app.

Really user friendly!
I feel like an old person but I love this app! Big fan of the Lumi dashboard and the ability to see usage week to week and day to day! Almost had a heart attack when I thought they took that dashboard away. Great features! No complaints about the app.

Worst
So I made a mistake and set up an autopayment; somehow, numbers nonrelated to what I entered showed up, and I started to receive due passed emails. To fix the issue, I tried to delete the autoplay, but there was no option to do that. Once you set it up, you are stuck with it and can't change anything. I called customer service they told me I don't owe anything while the app shows all the tries as I owe them, even though my manual payments were there. A very outdated system; I hope BGE is doing better with its energy systems!

If I pay on the app on the day my bill is due it should be processed immediately. As of right now you have to pay 3 to 2 days early for it to be processed on the due date and not be deemed late. This information is I’ll advised and I have been screwed over for my $600 security deposits FIX THIS PROBLEM

Can’t sign in. App won’t load
Why can’t this app be fixed so it’s usable for customers? It either won’t load or open, or says session has expired, facial recognition doesn’t work, password doesn’t work, functions “ not available at this time” day after day week after week! This has been going on for months now! I’m sick of having to change my password EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to open the app only to have the info I’m searching for not available or the app won’t open. FIX IT !!!

BGE charged me twice and won’t immediately refund me
I paid my bill for the first time with this app this month, and BGE charged me twice. That’s cash out of my checking account. I called and the customer service rep said my choices were 1) they would send me a check, which would take 2 weeks; 2) I could ask my bank to dispute the charge; or 3) they would just keep my money until my next bill is due. I know for a fact they can wire my money back to my account if they wanted to, but they won’t. I just deleted this app. Never again.

Horrible App Doesn’t load anymore
Horrible App Doesn’t load anymore Had been a good app awhile ago but I am unable to use it because it doesn’t load, just spins after entering my info. I’ve tried deleting the app and downloading it again a few times and it still doesn’t work. It’s a shame because I previously liked this app but it has been giving me problems for quite awhile I am definitely going back to paper bills as this technology stuff doesn’t work

Great app
I’m a 1st time homeowner and I was living rent free with relatives so I never had to worry about electricity bill. Since I bought a new townhouse bills keep racking up and this app helps explain what I’m being charged and why. I am glad I’m able to use this app to view and pay my bill. I don’t want my electricity cut off! Lol.

Limited use
Setting a default account was removed,why? Ever time the app launches, i see my bill from a previous account, eight years ago! So i must manually switch to my active account to see my current bill. BGE says they cannot set a default account, nor hide or delete the inactive one. Autopay will not accept a credit card, but you can make a one time payment with one. I see little hope that they will make this a robust app with the user in mind.

Managing devices no longer works
I used to be able to control my thermostat through the app and now it keeps saying unable to retrieve data. I can get to it from my browser but that’s not always convenient.

Feedback- Face Recognition
Unfortunately the face recognition is not working although it is offered. I used to use my fingerprint which was great. But my new iPhone only has face recognition and now I alway have to look up my password to log in.

Face Recognition
Face recognition often doesn’t work and then I have to enter my password which sometimes fails as well. Very frustrating. Face ID works fine with all other apps that I use. The app also seems to be down frequently which caused me to have a late payment.

This is a great app with quick pay
Overall I’m really impressed with BGE’s mobile app. I’m able to see my usage and even report an outage. The catch? $1.50 processing fee for any payment. Before you feel like you’re being conned, keep in mind most credit companies charge 2%... so it’s really not that bad. There really is no reason to not have the app.

Supposed “bug fixes” & “improvements”
Two weeks ago the app was completely shutdown for 12-13 days after announcing they’d be down for 5 days for “maintenance and updates.” There is absolutely ZERO change in the functions of the app and it’s still unreliable, inconsistent and inconvenient. I open the app about once per day and there’s always at least one function that’s unavailable. This app is by far one of the worst I’ve ever tried to use.

Well, it took them long enough but they really did a good job with this app. Everything is clean easy to navigate and use. Also, peak rewards if you have it is simple to use. It makes it easy to control your thermostat away from home.

Merging
I thought I was saving money by merging BG&E with my nest thermostat account. I keep my thermostat in the energy saving mode always and when it is cold outside I don’t run it at all. Why is my bill still so high as if I wasn’t using the energy saver on my thermostat. This isn’t benefiting me at all. There was no need for me to merge BGE with my nest thermostat if the bill is going to remain high. Maybe this was a big mistake. I want out. I am very disappointed.

15 day delay after stopping autopay
Mmm if you enroll in autopsy, it will not take affect for 15 days so you might be experiencing a hardship and try to delay this bill and automatically pay it in full 3 days early like I set mine to originally. I hope they can reverse it since it’s not due yet but I don’t think it will be easy

I had this app for yrs there is always an issue or the app is down for maintenance the app has been down for more than a week and you still can’t retrieve or pay your bill It’s aggravating because they want their money and when you try to pay you can’t I better not have any outstanding late fees when the app is back up running

I tried to pay the bill via the app via my bank account and it got denied. The account had plenty of money in it to cover. The pay-by-app doesn’t work. I’ve tried resubmitting just now, who knows if it’ll work this time.

I Hope The New App Isn’t Permanent
The new app now shows you zero details regarding your bill. The app used to give you all types of insight about previous and upcoming bills (an example of this can be seen in the screenshots by BGE above), now the only thing I see is an outage page and a pay my bill page. Apps are supposed to become more feature rich over time, not less feature rich. This app is now worthless.

My experience

Paid for gas but not using any
I moved here in April and signed up for BGE and noticed $15 was being charged monthly for gas though I didn’t use any. I called and complained but there is nothing they can sue it is a fee I have to pay monthly for the “privilege” of buying gas when needed. This means before I start actually using gas in Oct I’ve paid $90 and have used no gas. I live in a brand new apt complex so there are no so called maintenance issues which is the excuse I was given. This is legal consturtion at its best.

Adjust Thermostat
For over 2 weeks now, the Adjust Thermostat link keeps stating ‘Unable to retrieve data at this time. Please try again later’. Occurs no matter what time of day or night. I’m using an iPhone 13 with iOS version 16.6 which I updated to a couple of days ago. Please look into this.

The App was down several days and I couldn’t pay my bill. Although BG&E did not charge late fees it was still an inconvenience and the system was down longer than the expected time noted. This causes me to have much anxiety to have to remember to go back/ not forget to pay.
