These are really nice air filters. I love how they have the auto function and you can also turn down the brightness (for those picky sleepers). The app is a really nice feature that helps you track how the air quality is in a room and can even change the settings on the filter. Nifty if you aren’t home and forgot you had it running on high. These aren’t as big as I thought they were going to be, they really did look like side tables, the picture is a bit deceiving. But they still look nice, and I still use it as a short side table where I lay my book at night. I’ve had the blue air filters (different style) in my house for many years now, and don’t plan on changing companies anytime soon.

Lazy (updated Feb 2023)
The App is a joke. The connection process is ham-handed and horribly lacking. It wastes time scamming you into believing it may actually connect directly to your home WiFi when it will absolutely not. I’ve had these filters for over 5 years and not one time have they connected to my home WiFi without going through a marginally effective manual connection process that takes repeated attempts to actually connect. The customer service and responses are snippy, dismissive and decidedly indignant. It is incredibly frustrating for such a good product to be negatively impacted because of lazy software development. UPDATE: I recently purchased 3 new filters making my total Blueair filters in my home at 6. Although they have improved the connection process, the App itself is still slow and control through the App has improved only marginally. The response from their Customer Service is still not the best. I have yet to receive a response to my request to buy additional filters. The units are excellent products. So good that I actually purchased 3 additional units after I wrote the initial review. I’m a relatively loyal Blueair customer, even though the App remains the weakest point in the mix.

9 months ago, great purifiers. Useless app
Unfortunate
Blueair has been selling some of the best rated air purifiers and the filters for them for many years now. I own and use ten of them now in my various properties. Unfortunately the top rated units are no longer available. The filters( that actually worked) in removing odors, from cooking, pets, etc. are no longer available. The new filters are no where near as effective as the old ones. Referring to Dual-protection vs. the old Smoke-Stop. If you can even order them as the site is frequently out of stock. The old Blueair app was highly functional. The Blueair friend app which used to work very well( several years ago) has been practically useless for years now, still no fix?It is unfortunate that I have spent thousands of dollars on great air purifiers but am no longer able to buy filters for those units. Also an air quality monitor that due to the app is also useless. I feel as if I have wasted thousands of dollars on very good air purifiers that I can no longer use. It is unfortunately time to start looking into a company that is able to provide good customer service and provide their customers with quality replacement filters, units, and an app that works. Sorry Unilever, that was a big fail!

If only it stays connected
The app is great for initially connecting to your product and seeing what’s in the air, what’s being filtered, and the current life of the filter. Only frustrating issue: Constantly disconnects from my iphone. Always having to check if the software is the latest, if my internet is having any issue, etc etc… all troubleshooting leads to is having to delete the product from the app and reconnect like new. This loses all previously recorded data. I’ll live with that. I have gone without the app for months at a time… but! what I need it for is to turn down the light and set my product into night mode where it can run without illuminating the room. I might just put electric tape on that light strip and delete the app. But tech isn’t easy to keep up with various models and updates and hardware, software, versions, coding, etc… so I check back in here and then hoping the bug is fixed.

Outdoor data way off!
According to many reliable sources like WebMD and etc, the data this app displays for the outdoor data is way off! For ex: It says the PM outside is 15 while everything else shows it closer to 60. Also, I question the indoor data as well. It has been fluctuating between 50-65 for the indoor PM. I have the following installed in my HVAC system; Aprilaire Merv 16 filtration, UV bulb installed in the coils, and a Air Oasis UV Air Ionic Purifier. Hard to believe it’s that high when the air smells so clean inside. Thoughts anyone? I feel like this unit was a waste of money or is no longer supported? Oddly enough, the screenshot’s used in the description of this app shows almost the exact same outdoor data for my location. In fact, it’s actually showing 17 PM outside right now which isn’t right. I tested my theory by opening the door for cross ventilation. If the outdoor pollution was indeed lower, then my indoor pollution should improve. However, it quickly spiked another 10 PMs within 5 minutes leaving the outdoor pollution was indeed wrong and worse than the inside. I don’t trust their products.

Latest update made my classics non responsive
The update that got released on august 10th that fixes some iOS 13 issue, brought back the bug from two updates ago that renders my wifi control of my blueair classics (205i, 480i and 680i) all non responsive when trying to manually adjust their fan speed. The only thing that works is the ability to switch between manual and auto mode. Once in manual mode it is very obvious the function is broken because even within the app on my iPhones screen, the user interface doesn’t actually “lock into place” at the desired manual speed when trying to change the purifiers speed. It will just time out and revert back to the lowest fan speed as usual. Blueair team please fix this (again)!! You fixed it with the last update before august 10th, something went wrong again because it’s the identical problem. Please, it greatly affects people’s everyday lives more than you would think. Thank you for reading my plea and my feedback. I would happily give 5 stars if this issue is fixed.

Everything that was promised and more!
I try to give an honest opinion and assessment on all products I review as that is what I expect from other reviewers. That being said this product is amazing and while it is only been operating for 2 months and I can’t testify to it’s longevity, the air quality in our house has been excellent shortly after plugging it in and turning it on auto. You can actually feel the quality of the air in our home improve. The filters are a little bit pricey but the value of the Blueair purifier is exceptional. I highly recommend this product for anyone concerned about their air quality in their home.

Bad app, great machine
The Blueair Classic 680i is a fantastic air cleaner. (albeit a very large unit) However, the app is lacking in numerous ways compared to competitors… 1) No Apple HomeKit integration 2) If you are an Apple user, you cannot add the device to your home automation scenes. (ie, automatically turn on when I arrive home and turn off when I leave home, etc) 3) No Home Screen widget to see current air quality stats 4) No integration with Siri Shortcuts app or commands. (they have this enabled for Alexa and Google, so they clearly are just ignoring Apple users) 5) The setup process to connect the device to your home WiFi is not intuitive and more cumbersome than other apps. It also does not support 5ghz WiFi. 6) The app requires your exact location, not a close location. That’s a huge privacy concern! Why do you need to know my exact location? Anywhere within a 1/2 mile is close enough for the outdoor air quality levels in the app. You don’t need my pinpoint location. 7) No notification options. Other apps send you a notification if AQI, PM2.5, VOC, etc goes over specified levels. Blueair sends me nothing. 8) No firmware update button in the app, so you cannot force it to check for updates. You have to wait until it decides to check on its own. 9) No way to save or export the weekly/monthly data.

Lots of potential, but. . .
Love the products, but having a hard time loving the app. Lots of quirky data display choices and temperamental location accuracy, but my main issue is with the night mode. For the sanity of everyone, can we please just be able to set “auto” and “night” modes according to “sunrise” and “sunset?” It can’t be that difficult. Got the app several months ago and was mildly annoyed that it wasn’t this simple, so I set up two schedules manually to trigger night mode at 7 pm and auto at 7 am for both of our purifiers. That worked fine but as soon as daylight savings switched over a few weeks ago, I can’t seem to get those schedules to work for anything. Here it is almost midnight and once again, the lights on the unit are blaring bright and I’ll have to go into the app and manually put it in night mode.

Nice features, device often going offline
This app has a lot more features than I expected. I didn’t expect it to be able to track outside air quality in addition to the inside air. The graph is very nice, and I can see the peak moments when I’m cooking or cleaning. However, my purifier is often reported as being off-line. And sure enough, the device is blinking. No other devices on my home network do this.I have performed all the troubleshooting tips more than once. I’m weary of having to unplug this thing almost every day to get it back in the app (which doesn’t always work right away). Any firmware updates coming? The purifier does an excellent job otherwise, as expected for such a high price. I look forward to the app improving along the way.

Deceptive Business Practices | Avoid
Blueair’s devices work great. But this isn’t a review of their devices it’s a review of their app & its functionality. I clicked “order a new filter” in the app after a year of using the device. The app told me I could “save 10% by signing up for a subscription.” Seems straight forward and I figured I’d need another filter in a year so why not? They asked me to select my filter delivery dates. The first field was auto populated with the soonest possible date. The second field was 1 year later. Sounds good right? No, they charged me $60 and sent out the filter right away. 3 days later they charged me another $60 and sent another filter. When I called to ask them about this they said, “oh yea, the system added a single filter when you clicked the button in the app to order a new one and when you selected our offer to save with a subscription it doesn’t remove the initial filter. People were complaining to us that when they bought just the subscription they weren’t getting the first filter fast enough.” So instead you’re offering $10 off but then double charging people in the first week? Seems like way more people would be mad about that! I certainly was / am and will not purchase another Blueair device regardless of how the device itself performs.

Well Designed, Easy to Use
Never thought I’d write a review for an air purifier app but here I am. I’m actually impressed, this app was incredibly simple to get my Blueair 211i Max connected. No weird steps, no finnicky connections, no broken English instructions. It just works. And I say this from experience from some other air purifier manufacturers that don’t know how to design a reliable app (cough Coway) Bonus points here for stable connection, graph for aqi, and just a simple list of devices and your local AQI. No bloat, no ads, which is incredibly appreciated. Will definitely be buying another Blueair down the road

Love the Filter
Great filter quiet and efficient. Bought the400 and liked it so much I added the 700 now. Nomenclature is a problem for the uninitiated. Names and models on labels don’t clearly equate with manual, website, and and App. Sign up for automatic delivery if filters needs work, suggest programmer try it out on grandparents. Wish the instructions were clearer on set-up and meaning of colors on 770. Very good people on the help line BUT 20-30 minute wait to actually get one of these nice people to talk to you. More how to use videos on-line instead of artsy uninformative sales pitches would be useful to those who have already bought the product and this might shorten the phone wait time. Once you get it working you will love it.

Buggy and Unreliable
This app looks like it should be a five-star experience to match the premium price of the purifier it monitors. It offers a number of metrics and explains how to interpret them. Unfortunately, the app itself is so buggy and unreliable that it’s impossible to tell how valid these data points are. Every time I open the app, after 5-10 seconds my purifier shows as disconnected; the only way to show it as connected is to force quit and relaunch the app. The different data views (day/week/month) are often unresponsive or continue to show the day view regardless of selection. It’s unclear from the longitudinal data If disconnections affect the reliability of the readings over time or if the app continues to plot the most recent available data. This app has a lot of potential, but right now it’s just a glorified remote control that often doesn’t work.

Will not connect
I have two Sense+ units and the app running on iOS 17.0.2. I recently replaced my wireless router, so I had to reconnect the units to the app. Neither unit will respond, I have tried every fix suggested, the process in the app is circular and vague. Very frustrating. Both units have been connected in the past (I had similar issues then) but when the guidance in the app isn’t even logical (at one point the app asks if the ring is “not lit” but in the example, the ring is… lit?) it’s impossible to determine where the problem is. It’s taken hours of my time to no avail. Given the price of these units, it’s really unacceptable. Two instead of one star because I know the app can work - it has in the past after much wrestling, but at what point do I cut my losses and switch to a brand with actual coherent UX?

Great features, but buggy and slow
The features of the app are excellent, but the app is slow to update information. Often it does not show the correct controls. For example, when changing from “Auto” to “Manual” control, the buttons on the app don’t change when tapping in Manual. You have to close the lane and reopen it to be able to actually change the fan speed. The air quality graph updates erratically, if at all. It’s really unclear when the readings are actually from. Sometimes they may be displaying from several days or weeks ago, making the graph and information untrustworthy and useless. If they can work out this display and update issues it would be five stars!

Malfunctioning app, lousy support
I have a Blueair Blue Pure 311i Max, and this app has been awful! It doesn’t want to connect with my phone except with it set permanently as a mobile hotspot, even though it’s connected to the wifi! An error keeps making it so I have to unplug the HEPA and plug it back in every time I launch the app, otherwise it says it’s offline, and won’t connect. Got a VPN for your safety? You’re never going to be allowed to use it again. Their customer service isn’t knowledgeable, and is absolutely useless; go with their phone line if you must, but be forewarned, they know less than their FAQs. PS: don’t even try to use their ZenDesk “email” support- they never respond. As far as their “email” support goes, I still have a question about replacement filter types that’s been sitting ignored by them for over 4 months and counting!

Totally blown away!
My expectations have been totally blown away! I had been searching for an air purifier suitable for my bedroom for a LONG time. I finally decided to go with my gut after reading many reviews and picked this one. It is SO quiet. So quiet you wouldn’t even know there’s an air purifier in the room. The app make it’s even more accessible and user friendly. The child lock has come in handy many times. My sleep has improved too! Highly recommend!

App Has Gone Downhill
I’ve had this app for 4 or 5 years and it’s never been all that great. Lately it’s just gone down in quality. I spent good money on 2 205’s and have had a schedule for my kids rooms. The last couple of updates have broken the fan speed control and now the scheduling has changed and no longer allows for fan speed during and after scheduling. Used to have the purifiers set to full speed overnight for the kids and set to speed 1 in the morning but now they just shut off after the schedule has run. Fan speed options also continue to default to “auto” when neither of my machines have that option. C’mon Blueair. I expect better.

Product great, app lacking
Love the product itself but the app seems to be lagging behind. The main issue is it does not seem able to give a real-time view of the current status. For example, I’m sitting right next to it and can see that the fan is on low (level 1) but the app is showing it at level 2. I should be able to open the app and see the current setting. Instead I seem to have to change the settings to get it to register which is annoying. I assume the app will evolve and catch up to the product so still buy it, it the app itself - eh.

App is terrible
Of all the home automation type apps, this is by far the most frustrating one we have. In the home we have three different Blueair purifiers, it sometime takes up to 5 minutes just to change a setting. This is caused by the app saying a unit is off line or just completely frozen. It will typically take multiple restarts of the app just to get a setting to take. I initially liked the Blueair products, but with intensely frustrating app interface and connection issues I will be looking elsewhere in the future if things don’t change. Of note, I have been using the products and app for about 14 months now and there has been plenty of time for the issues to be resolved.

Problem with app was my router
Blue air worked for a year.. than was nothing but trouble.. couldn’t find my Wi-Fi Than after 1/2 hour finally listed it. But found 10 other Wi-Fi blocks away.. when it finally found mine 20 feet away - it asked for password.. of course it says INCORRECT—… So the machine has a RESET .. which no one knows about except me & techs.. Hold the start button down for 15 seconds.. Also try turning router 180 degrees… that was my solution..

I do wish I new about these things earlier. I bought this because I kept going into young families houses and their house smelt like diaper and associated smells ;) … This is a powerhouse and my air feels and smells fresh all the time. It allows you to see your air quality in the app. ** Yes get the app it works great and is nice if you care about your families well being and your own air quality is important. It’s very important

Scheduling function doesn’t work
The app has been extremely frustrating. We schedule our Blueair to adjust throughout the day and the scheduling function has never worked well… you can’t create a schedule that overlaps midnight, can’t have a back-to-back schedule (one has to end at, say, 7:59 and the other start at 8:00), and every Daylight Saving Time change in the US completely screws up the schedule requiring them to be recreated. Worse yet, software support requests to Blueair either go unanswered or take months for a response. Sadly, while we really like Blueair hardware, it is highly unlikely that our next air purifier will be Blueair, due to the poor software.

App is OK. Why does it not auto populate for warranty reg
App seems to work OK. Controls my DustMagnet as it should. Issue I have is more of an annoyance... When using the app to register my new DustMagnet warranty info, the app requires you to manually enter the product info (name, model, ser #... etc). All of that info is already in the app given I have connected my new DustMagnet. Too make it more annoying, the developer has locked out the ability to copy/paste the long product ser# from the apps product info page... forcing you to enter the 20+ characters by hand. Bad UI design...

Schedule feature needs improvement
Over all I like this app but I can only give it a 3 star rating because of how the schedule feature screws up my schedules when we go through the Daylight Saving time change in the late winter and early fall. It changes my schedule times I want and Blueair devices to wake up and go to sleep by 1 hour when there is no need for that to happen. If my schedule is 7am to 9:30pm in the fan speed mode of 2, I want the schedule to be that no matter if the clocks have moved ahead an hour or back an hour.

This app is horrendous
My devices are constantly offline and the only way to get them to respond is to either remove them and add them again or log out and back into the app. But bot at the same time! Oh no, that would be crazy. Instead you have to logout, close the app, reopen, log back in and then retry. Or you can try to delete the product, close the app, add the product again. Still wont work? Well then close the app and reopen it and try logging out again. How infuriating. My filter is off 90% of the time but the random times I get It to connect it tells me my 3 month old filter is at 2%. No, no its not lol. Not on the big guy 7770i.

Easy interface
Just as the title says. The interface for Blueair is simplistic and easy to navigate allowing for the end user to use the system with little introduction. I like the tracing function for the air filter and the ability to turn it on and off through the app. So far I love my air purifier as it works better than great and makes a difference in the air quality in my house!

Great but could benefit from HomeKit
Pleasantly surprised when, during setup, you’re warned that the product only works on a 2.5 GHz, non-split, network. Not so! If that were the case, this product would not have worked at all, as was the case with the Coway that I ended up returning for this very reason. Connected perfectly and integrates quite well with location services, but I’d love it if HomeKit were supported in order to keep tabs of all my IoT devices from one convenient place.

Scheduler and Google home doesn’t work
I purchased a 211i Max and hoped that I can connect the purifier to Google home as advertised. I even checked with customer service before making the purchase. It turns out that the Google home doesn’t work properly with the device. I was able to connect the device to Google home app. It does show options like auto mode, night mode, turn on and turn off. However, most of the buttons were not working as expected. For example, on and off button are just setting the fan to 0 instead of turning off the device. The auto button doesn’t even work. For the app, the scheduler doesn’t work as well. I tried several different settings and it always get changed to night mode and never changed back to auto mode. All of these seem to be software issues and are very disappointing. I am very disappointed with this purchase because all the feature seem to be so basic but none of them work.

As spam in push notifications
Update: the developer has responded with an intentional lie. They are ignoring the fact that disabling all push notifications in the app will make the product not perform as advertised. They refuse to unsubscribe me from only spam marketing notifications while continuing to allow the product to perform as advertised. At this point that means they are running a scam against both their customers and the Apple App Store. This app has started abusing push notification to spam Blueair products. This is a violation of my dignity as well as App Store policy. The app should be pulled from the store until the issue is rectified.

Too many Credential Errors
Too many “invalid credential” errors when the app gets updated. It won’t even allow me to reset my password. This reminds me of my Lexus app where credentials stops working and you have to reset your account. If you’re going to have the app and the device truly interact, we need more stability. Especially when the app controls so much of the device. This is happening too often. Now I have no way to shut this blue light off at night until it gets fixed.

Rock solid app. Devs should be proud
Smart home apps are often a cesspool of poorly-supported, very buggy apps, and they usually lack good developer support. Not this one. Blueair has been on TOP of things, delivering consistent updates and improving the UI and app every time. I’m very skeptical of any smart home appliances but I’m glad I got a smart air purifier just because of the way Blueair integrates it with their app. Great job guys

Intermittent and inconsistent
Function seems very unreliable if app is installed on more than one device. I have Blueair app on two devices for control of two 211i Max units on same network. Adjustments made with app are inconsistent in actual implementation. Changing mode, fan speed, LED brightness may work, may be ignored, or may just rapidly return to settings set from a different device at an earlier time. There is no “make changes” type prompt on app to verify that new settings will be implemented. iPhone 15pro, iOS18.

Good product, Bad WiFi
Filters are great, can tell the difference in my home, as I operate three of them 24/7 in auto mode. The app and WiFi features leave something to be desired. Latest version of the App routinely crashes when I try to access one of my three filters. Says device is offline, but the control panel on the device says it’s online. I’mi installed all three of them, had to contact tech support website for tricks on how to get the WiFi to connect, as none of the factory provided instructions worked. With a lot of patience, you can eventually get them to work on WiFi.

Clean Air Clarified!
I am a new owner of my Blueair purifier. I live in a 50 year old condo. It lets me know when there’s any change in the content of my air space. What an incredible relief. I may actually get one for downstairs now that I know the value and how easy it is. It was a bit larger than I thought but I’m not complaining. It’s totally worth it for the clarification of a clean air environment.

Requires broadcasting your network
This is absolute garbage and waste of time. If you want an air filter get one that doesn’t require Wi-fi. I appreciate blue air reaching out as I love their filters. How ever, I still stand by my review though, giving the app a third chance and it’s still frustrating. I’m not willing to disable 5ghz and broadcast my network publicly just so my Air filters can be monitored. Using 2 phones, 1 as a hot spot and a second to connect to phone 1 hot spot. Waiting for them to all reconnect back takes awhile if it works. Fix that whole problem and I then I give it 5 stars

App has many flaws
The filters are nice but I’m disappointed by Blueair’s software. Most importantly for us, the child lock feature turns off daily. When my spouse logs in from their phone with the same login, they can’t control the appliances… we live in the same house and each should have access to make changes. The air quality map has not refreshed since the day I installed (and then reinstalled) the app. The app lags and not infrequently requires multiple closings and rebootings to become responsive. I do have a 9 month old iPhone with the up-to-date OS.

Readings out of sync
Good machines, but the app does not sync with the machines well causing discrepancies between the air quality levels and what the app displays. Takes a bit to update and you have to keep refreshing. Also, sometimes clicking on the buttons to change the fan levels or set to auto does not work. Would be great if this was all addressed. This would make the brand / product even better.

Unreliable
The app is terribly unreliable. The app always show the air purifier as being offline even after removing and reinstalling the app or unplugging and replug the device. Even though the company occasionally updates the app to remove bugs, they actually don’t remove any bugs. I don’t recommend buying their air purifiers that are supposedly supported by this app because the quality and reliability does not match their pricing. The app is more frustrating than useful. Lastly, it looks like the company is winding down to no longer support this app.

App Software Stinks
I’ve been using a blueair “dustmagnet 5440i” for over a year now & the air filter itself works great with no issues. My issue is with the app, the app was really i guess an afterthought with this company/product and there wasn’t much initial planning or thought put into its development. There has been absolutely no real maintenance or plans of updates for their app either. So if you want an air purifier with a good software side, definitely don’t pick any from this company.

App keeps signing me out!
The app is pretty good and used to work fine but now it keeps signing me out. That’s ok - I use a password manager so I can sign in quickly. No problem, right? Wrong. The login screen asks for an email address but it isn’t coded as an email field so my email address doesn’t auto populate. So I need to type in my email address every time I use this app. Every time I want to change the fan speed I need to type in my email address. Very frustrating.

Cannot Add Product to Account As Of Yet
The air purifier itself is an awesome product so far but I have not been able to add my air purifier to my account via the app. I submitted a ticket and they said up to 7 days to hear back. I think that is an unreasonable amount of time to wait. I have tried multiple blueair accounts, ipad and iphone, and even multiple local wifi networks and all have failed. Looks like the api call to the backend is not authenticating to the server properly from the error I received. Will update if resolved.

Easy, no sneezy.
Out of the box and working without a problem. Intuitive controls and within days had 4 settings working automatically to optimize the air cleaning. When you walk in to our bedroom you can tell the difference and the wife’s sinuses can vouch for it.

Quite and just wonderful
I have had my Blue air room air cleaner for 6 months. It is quite and keeps my bedroom fresh and clean air. The app is wonderful and has an easy to use features. I am able to set a clean cycle to quite and medium speed while we sleep. I would recommend this air cleaner to all.

History doesn’t work
When looking at the device, it just shows a horizontal line representing the current value for the entire history, even if that value has gone up and down. For example it says it is currently 69 degrees, and the history graph says it has been 69 degrees all day every day. When it changes to 73 degrees, it will then show the entire history as having been 73 degrees as well. This also applies to the PM readings and tVOC readings.

Not worth the download
This app is so incredibly slow. The lag makes it near impossible to use. The data that is supposed to show air quality history from the day has no data in it except for the time you’re looking at it. Using the app to toggle through modes on the purifier is so delayed, you may not get it to do anything for a minute. It’s far easier to control from the purifier itself. The app seems like it has great functionality, but the unresponsiveness of the app makes it unusable
