Need improvement

I like to be able to draw whole floor plan of a building in one sheet not room by room. And like to be able to draw interior walls. Also wall view only support rectangular shape walls. For example for pitched roof buildings the wall at gable ends are not rectangular shape.

Measure On Pro - Abusive cost

I've been using the Bosch MeasureOn app on my iPad for several years. One of the main reasons I bought Bosch measuring lasers was because of the app's features. Over the years, I've purchased over four lasers and recommended them to around 20 colleagues. However, with my new iPad Pro, I discovered that the MeasureOn app I was using is no longer available, and there's a new version. I'm still trying to get used to it, but I discovered that exporting my measurements now requires a paid subscription. While I might consider paying for an app if the price is reasonable, the monthly fee for this app seems too steep. I've spent over $400 on a laser, and now they want an extra $15 monthly to use the app properly. To compare, I pay less than $10 monthly for music and $10 a year for drawing apps I use frequently. I don't think it's fair to be charged $15 a month ($180 year) for an app that used to come free with my laser purchase. This pricing is just too expensive. I hope they reconsider and adjust the pricing, as Bosch might end up losing many customers. After seven years, I'm highly disappointed and frustrated with this additional monthly fee on top of the hardware I already use.

Great idea poorly implemented

I was initially very impressed by the laser measuring device and the associated app. The documentation is very poor and there is no way to transfer photos to your phone without plugging the laser measure into your computer first. It also claims to have an cloud element but no way to sign in. And now the app is crashing every time I try to draw something. Also when you draw it won’t compute area even when the angles are at 90°. And if you have slightly different measurements on each side it doesn’t appear to compute the area even though why would you need this if you had a perfect square or rectangle! I want to like this but I do feel that a pad and paper we’re printing out copies of my plans would be much easier to mark on than bothering to sketch with my finger and then figure out how to export this via PDF an email especially since you can’t compute areas on a photo that I can see. I hope they will continue to improve this because I want it to be good.

Great in Theory

I was using this as my primary & thought it would save time, but I’ve head to go backwards due to continued glitches with the app that creates serious inefficiencies when on the job site. Load times, and sometimes it freezes mid-project as I take measurements & does not save. As a result, I lose a bunch of measurements and have to redo them all over again (not fun when you’ve taken 30 measurement on a ladder & 15 disappear because the app froze). Also, if you don’t turn the “standby” mode off on your phone or tablet, when you reopen your phone to add a measurement, whatever you just input before your phone goes on standby is erased. Now you have to redo a bunch of measurements. Super frustrating! Then there’s responsiveness. It’s real finicky when you’re trying to move arrows or texts within a picture. Sometimes you need to hold your finger on an object for a good 2-3 seconds before you can move it. I’ve had these issues happen in both iPad & phone apps. I’ve basically gone back to taking measurements on paper and taking pics. If there’s something unique about the project that’s when I really use the app to hold pictures & write notes. Otherwise I’m more worried about the app working correctly vs focusing on the project I’m planning for. App needs a lot more work!

Ridiculous for the cost….

At $15 dollars a month, in one year that $180 dollars. In 3 years that’s $540 dollars…and the cost keeps climbing….for this app? Why can’t you be like Lecia? For 27 dollars, you own it. For those that don’t know, Lecia makes industry leading photography and scientific lenses. They are well versed in optics so the design and implementation of their laser measurement tools have world class experience behind it. There is also Dewalt. They also sell laser measuring devices that integrate with their app…for free. There are a host of other companies making measuring devices that integrate with their app for free. Then there are project management apps that specialize in creating digital plans and dimensional drawings for end clients. If you are going to charge me $15 dollars a month, you better have a world class app…which you don’t. I’m done with Bosch.

Be careful with losing data

Have been using it for a while but recently started to see data lost for measurements. These are both new measurements (only photo retained; no arrows/valuez) and also even old ones I have not touched in more than 1 year (arrow is there, arrow1/2/3/… table shows the values but not on the photo - so don’t know which one is arrow1, etc.). This doesn’t happen to all - just a few. So backup/export once just to be safe so at least you still have a copy. Edit: Dropping to 1-star as export functionality is now a paid subscription feature. If you can’t even backup/export (w/o additional fees) and the app loses measurement data occasionally- then better not use this app at all!

I see what you’re doing but the value isn’t there

If this software wasn’t so buggy I could justify spending some money on it. But for 15 bucks I might as well use a sketch pad and write it all on a piece of paper, take a picture of it and export it. With the current apps ability, I could spend 1-2 bucks a month. It’s justified with how annoying it is. I mostly hate when it’s acting up and a potential client sees me struggling. There’s a hand full of times I was in the middle of shooting measurments, got fed up and grabbed my tape. So ya it’s not worth that much a month. Lower that price and you’ll get a lot more buyers I bet. Or seriously upgrade your software. Pic one

Export options limited

There are lots of little issues with this app that others have commented upon. However, the big issue for me is that upon output to PDF the text measurements are gigantic and end up overlaying each other so you can’t see the actual dimensions you made. I end up having to go back to the app, open the room with the measurements then transfer those dimensions manually to the PDF. How, in the modern app world, is there not a setting for font size in any app? Is this still 2002?

Has potential, not there yet

This app is great for very simple measurements. Unfortunately the notes could be greatly improved by allowing you to use the Apple Pencil to write on the wall, itself. It also really needs to allow for more things than just a door or window on a wall. I am a custom cabinet designer and need to know where outlets, plumbing, and other basic items are. Why can I not doodle on the wall image, or add shapes? I literally have to open a whole new app to take complete wall measurements. That alone makes this app obsolete

Don’t bother with pro function

I found this app useful when making plans for my house. Got a new phone and wanted to share the files I made to the new phone, but the free cloud function of 200mb doesn’t work for anything except the demo project, not for any project you make yourself. Tried getting the free trial of pro export, and that can only export CAD or PDF files, neither of which you can import into the app on another device. Cancelling my pro subscription today. Wrote to customer service a few days ago but of course no timely response. Deleting.

Useless

I wanted to use this app to measure rooms in a floor plan. Then print those out to use as I enter the floorplan into CAD. In theory, it would be a quick way to record dimensions rather than pencil and paper. But that was futile because the dimensioning function is so basic, the dimensions on the prints obliterate each other as they overlap. You cant change the dimensioning font size, or their locations to prevent overlaping each other. I cant imagine what actual useful function this app could perform. My needs were as basic as you can get.

Won’t Calculate Area

Every time I input a diagonal wall, the app fails to calculate area. I am continuously given this notification on any non-90° wall, “ Measurement has been put into [ ] as it doesn't fit the room layout. Please change the value or adiust the room so that area calculation can be done.” The most troubling part is that the floor plan otherwise looks correct. I’m not trying to do the calculations or break the floor plan into a smaller squares and adding all the area values. This app needs a lot of help.

I don’t know who fell asleep at the wheel developing this app

I have no idea why they switched from the old app. The new app deletes everything if you close it. It takes 3x as long with having to “draw walls.” Half of the things you touch to use don’t respond when clicked. Arguably the most counterintuitive piece of software I have ever laid my eyes on. Moral of the story is that I wish I had just stuck with the cheaper version and could still get a whole house measured in 30 min to an hour… now takes two hours at least.

Non intuitive

All of the tools are there, however, there is no functional transition between the measurement equipment and the software. Has anyone on the software team observed how a user functions, when measuring a room? The app is archaic, and completely unhelpful when questioning how to accomplish a simple task. For instance, getting a wall in a room that is not rectangular. I will, continue using the measurement tool, but go back to pencil and paper, which is exceedingly faster than using this app. Keep trying!

Old app was better

This app barely does anything but they want to charge a ridiculous amount just to do pdf exports. When you put measurements on a picture there are no options to adjust things nor font sizes to make them more readable. The font is huge and you can’t see what you’re referencing. You essentially have to take close up pictures to add measurements instead of a wide shot and add measurements if you want to be able to read them.

Gen. 1 was WAY better

I want to open this app, create a new survey, snap a picture, plot measurements, and export to PDF when I'm finished. This app is not following the path of least resistance. I understand charging for exporting to DXF but for the quality of the PDF format, its really not worth my money. I would be so happy to communicate with the devs on how to make this app a little better. free of charge. Lets just get on with being productive.

Not stable enough for actually use

Doesn’t always save your measurements!!! It turns out that the app doesn’t always save measurements set on top of a photo. It could be that I had overlapping areas, but either way it should always always always save your measurements. Also, their issues with the notes where the text will randomly overlap. And issues with selecting an area where you are unable to select it. And issues with being able to type in or scan in measurements (entry field doesn’t show) Overall, I think this app is promising. But until the bugs are fixed, and stability is figured out, do not use it or you or waste a lot of time.

Complete tool

This an amazing tape measure tool. You can combine your layouts with dimensions on the photos. Text or email the information to various individuals all at once. It great reference when I create AutoCad drawings. This a must tool for construction and design. Jimmy

Please add a 4th/5th decimal place to units for full accuracy.

The laser permits up to 1/32 increments of an inch, but when using decimal units the decimal place for the app units only goes to the 3rd place. “.000” or 1/8th inch. This means the only way to use the full accuracy of the measures of the laser is to not use decimals and use inches instead. Please add 4th and 5th decimal place so the accuracy of the laser measures persists across the decimal units.

Good app, limited functionality

It’s pretty good for measuring indoor, as intended. I’d really like to see an exterior/landscape workspace option added. This would double its usefulness: laying out exterior lighting and boxes.

What happened?!?

Not impressed with Bosch’s move to require a subscription to export plans and pdfs. You already bought their $100 measuring tool. The app WAS the sign of their commitment to their customers making the laser tool actually useful. This was poorly thought out. Make the app free for users for life. Or at least unlock those added features when used with a Bosch measuring tool.

Needs export to Cad or Sketchup

This is a critical component that they are so close to already, but are coming up short. PDFs are great for average joes, but not enough for what I do. I’m always putting my dimensions into sketchup and doing nice layouts and sketches for clients to see what they are getting. Very much missing the boat here.

1 step forward 2 steps back

I missed the old floorplan app, cuz i could measure a whole house or buidling with 1 workplan. Now its only individual rooms. In the past i could join multiple rooms and add wall thickness, doors etc. Please go back or add it back as a feature where i can do multiroom in one workspace and not individual rooms.

Text input no useful

This would be a good app if text input was functional. One cannot write a steady line of text in the note portion without the cursor jumping to unpredictable locations after every other character that you try to type. This makes it useless for me. Please fix

Deleted all doors and windows! Don’t trust it

I spent 2 hours adding doors and windows for a floor plan which viewed in the workspaces fine. Then back in office I combined workspaces to project, opened the individual drawings with doors and windows shown on thumbnail to find them gone in edit mode. This app is extremely underdeveloped and unreliable. Don’t trust any valuable data to it

What a huge disappointment. I think it was better until the subscription started. I’ve since lost my work, had to revisit jobs and have received less than support. The drawing tools don’t work half the time, loses work, now has cost us money. We’re done.

App NOT Intuitive

Spent 20 minutes in my knees measuring our new homes crazy bathroom layout. No apparent way to save. I hit back. Layout still there. I click to rename…. My work becomes a square box and measurements gone. Not awesome…

App is working pretty well besides a few small issues

I don’t think this app is optimized for smaller iPhones…I have the smallest iPhone available (iPhone SE) … and the initial terms and conditions approval doesn’t fit on the screen … thankfully I just barely able to scroll and accept the terms. If I was older and less technically inclined, I could imagine this might be a big problem, right out of the gate. Additionally when viewing the full details of my room…the issue again arrives with the screen size. You can see the text is squeezed together and barely visible. I haven’t used any of the other functionality of the app, we’ll see when I get there. Overall…it works, and the device itself is absolutely incredible.

Bait and switch rip-off. Took away feature to export.

I paid a premium for a Bosch laser measure because of app integration and ability to export measurements. Bosch updated app and locked exports behind subscription. Apple provides no way to revert to the old version.

App crashes and you lose everything

Can’t access two work spaces after taking a bunch of room measurements. Great idea, but poor execution. Had to go back to the truck to get paper and pencil. Unreliable

App does simple math wrong

I just tried a sketch utilizing feet and the building was 20’x100’ but the app calculates it as 2,001 square feet. Another building was 124’x20’ and it calculated as 2,477 square feet (instead of 2,480 sq ft). My inputs have no decimals. What gives?

Buggy

You will lose data. You have been warned. I had a project, multiple workspace. An hour of work. I try to export to pdf, only 1 workspace shows up in the pdf. I go into the project, I see all of my workspaces. Then I make another workspace…now all But my FIRST work place is GONE. Waste of time. (iPad app)

Don’t buy Bosh measuring products until they have a USEABLE app to go with them

i’ve been trying to use this app for the past six months,I think they stopped developing it as I haven’t seen any improvements. As the other reviews indicate this app is so broken it’s not even funny, and completely unusable in my opinion. Is this an indication of how Bosch values their products and customers? I don’t know how this stays in the App Store. Do we need a measuring device with Bluetooth when there’s no respectable app to go with it? I think the feature that bothers me the most is the inadequate ability to export your work. You can export each image individually, as long as that takes, but the arrows and text you draw in the image isn’t scaled with the size of the image or the zoom factor. What you end up with is an image where the arrows and text all cram together and overlap each other making all your measurements worthless because you can’t separate them out or read them In the picture. When you’re working with the image and taking measurements you can zoom the picture and the arrows and text scale with the picture so everything looks fine. It’s not until you go to export the image that you discover all the time you spent measuring was a complete waste. There are no options to export an entire project and no options to control the zoom level of the measurements in the image when you export it.

The Drawing tools need a lot of work

The biggest problem I see so far is the drawing tools. They work OK for large rooms but if you have any details like pop out in the wall that are only a few inches long it’s nearly impossible to zoom in far enough to enter the information. I should be able to zoom in to the scale I have set on the measuring laser ⅛ inch. Also drawing in new walls becomes a great hassle because it doesn’t always connect to the last node and you end up with a bunch of random unconnected walls on your drawing. These walls cannot be deleted until you enter information in them or hit the undo button multiple times deleting needs to be easier.I realize screen real estate doesn’t allow for a lot of tools but they should all be kept in the same pallet draw and measure are a good start but add edit with a selection tool to select existing nodes without drawing new ones and being able to delete them. Also having an undo button and a back button on the same screen is confusing. Change the back button to home or to done. You spent a lot of money creating this app it just needs to be fine tuned with some customer feedback.

Garbage App

Dear Bosch, Please destroy this app. It’s embarrassing, especially since you market it to the contractor and prosumer. If you’re not gonna delete it: -Get rid of the stupid line draw thing and the required closed ends, not every measurement project is an indoor room, maybe, just maybe I’m using your Blaze 400 as an outside laser, to measure things that don’t always end up as a closed space. And instead of drawing a line which is buggy to the point it’s useless, how about you just insert a straight line, with toggle ends and allow us to rotate it and resize it using the ends. And lets just start with that, so it’s actually usable, I have a whole laundry list of very basic features that I feel are a necessity, but it’s clear you’re struggling as it is, with a basic app that makes a rectangle. How about you either find a developer, to make the app for you, and you stick to making tools, or you just make an api so other developers can male a compatible app, instead of locking us in to this garbage

Great Marketing & Terrible Execution and Function, truly

Regardless of operating system or device I sync my Bosch GLM 50 C to, the software does not work. Repeatedly measured a square room and it kept giving me an error, the walls were uneven. Display numbers were equal on all sides. Did not work. Manually entered numbers and it’s still saw the walls as unequal. Could not give wall space, floor space, volume etc. The ability to use the software it was the only reason I purchased the laser tool. Now will have to return. Tech support was awful as well, text response after 24 hours. I asked my question and never got an answer. They did thank me for using tech-support and considered the matter closed in minutes.

Don’t waste your time! Seriously, Bosch?!

This app doesn’t work. It’s not even worth writing a review because I’m wasting valuable time even as I speak. There is no way to sign in, there is nothing online to help you register, the app doesn’t provide any way to register — at all! Why would Bosch post an app that doesn’t have provide any UI for allowing the user to actually use the app?

So far so good

Really like the device and the app so far. The app allows adding pictures and then lengths on top of it, multiple rooms, captures the length immediately from the device via bluetooth and much more - as a software engineer to the developers: so far so good, great work.

This would be a useful app if the developers knew something about building.

4 out of five times measuring a square room it gets brackets and wants me to manually enter missing data making it useless. I suggested to support that they default angles to 90 or 45 degrees and they told me my problem is the app doesn’t know what angle my square room is and I need to define my angle even though I don’t have one. All the CAD programs I have used on the past 30 years have Ortho mode ( default to 90 or 45 degrees ) but theses guys are going to reinvent stupid.

Measured out an entire cabinet job, only to have this app refuse to open about a day after. Tried for days, but eventually had to delete and reinstall. All of the app data (drawings) were gone, of course. Even had problems with the app constantly switching my measurements to metric, even before the app stopped working. The first version was bad, but this is just terrible. I’d rather use my phone’s camera and markup for placing measurements on pictures. Magicplan is MUCH better for floorplans. Don’t download. 0/5 stars.

Just as useless as everyone states

Where to start? Developers always comment how they are always working to better the product. But, it is no better than it was 2 years ago. Why bother with a Bluetooth measuring tool when there isn’t a useful app to connect it to? Even Magic Plan is better. But even that is tirelessly outdated. That is the app they should gear to be. So much potential. Could even charge a subscription. Otherwise, just like all the others here, one star is even too much.
