The first time I used this app, I looked at my Bill Pay tab. It is showing that I have an overdue bill for some thing that I haven’t paid in four years. When I went to sign out, it went into hyper mode and started eternally refreshing the screen. I was unable to sign off, had to manually crash the app and take my chances. I find it very alarming that an app that Sefcu has touted for months has been released with major bugs such as this. I will log into the main site later to make sure they didn’t accidentally lose any of my money!
This app has two major issues and both of them are with the mortgage portal service. If you want to place a principal payment on your loan that is more than your regular payment amount you can’t apply it to principal even though that is an option through the regular transfer page. If you do, it’ll apply as a regular payment and anything extra will be applied as principal payment and customers have to call the bank every single time to have it reversed and applied correctly. Second is the actual mortgage portal Itself in the Phone app, when you go to add your checking account information like your routing number etc. you have to accept the terms and conditions to apply the payment but when you click on the link, it doesn’t transfer back to the Mortgage portal that you’ve accepted the terms and you can’t move forward to actually add your checking information for the payment so you have to do it on a computer which is extremely inconvenient! I don’t know how this has been an ongoing issue for so many years, I have had my mortgage with SEFCU for over 5 years and every time I call they never have an answer as to whether they are even trying to fix it, which means they obviously aren’t.
There was just something about the old Capcom app that worked so much better than the Broadview app. I struggle with the limitation in the notes field for transfers and deposits. It also seems silly to me that I have to wait for a mobile deposit of $150 for sometimes a day or two when I am able to cover that with my current accounts. Capcoms mobile deposit was instantaneous…and when we were told all of the best features of capcom and SEFCU would be present in the merger, we certainly were not prepared to now have to wait for our money. Additionally, where I was able to separate my personal accounts from my joint accounts with my spouse, I now cannot. I don’t mind that they’re active all on one app, but my debit card is now only tied to my personal accounts when making withdrawals, so I need to transfer money from joint to personal to take money out of the ATM. More should be done to make this app more user friendly and remove the wait times for mobile deposit funds.
Worst bank, right up there with Bank of America. Fees are a nightmare. Doesn’t give you the option to deny charges you don’t have funds for (because how would they make their money if they couldn’t charge people for being poor/broke). Card too frequently gets denied in stores when trying to pay for things, even though you can clearly see in that app you have more than enough (picture having $500 available and being denied for $15 bucks). App frequently and conveniently can’t transfer money between banks, they take FOREVER to finally accept funds from other banks and by that time you’ve been hit with a bunch of fees. Then whatever employee you speak to will talk to you like you’re a five year old who doesn’t understand anything, even though you have documented proof of THEIR mistakes that they want you to pay for. Switch to Navy Fed and be treated like a person.
The UI of the application feels like it is aiming to be modern but the execution is still a bit buggy. When dealing with finances I would prefer a simple interface that has relatively no issues—and it seems like every other attempt to load my accounts or transfer money from one to another fails. I wish the individual account details also stated whether transactions are still pending or have been posted, as the not knowing can cause pause and issues later on. Overall the interface feels less intuitive coming from my previous banking app, and seems like there are a lot of visual delays which I would not expect from an application associated with my financial institution.
We never wanted this merger in the first place… We believe we will get treated with better quality care by a smaller bank, and we chose cap com over sefcu, a market choice that is now ignored in this merger. Additionally changes to the app are different than what we are used to with Cap Com, and it’s taking months to finalize this merger and gain full functionality to actually get used to a new bank we didn’t want. No… we are not happy with broadview… Plus the practice of putting through all our charges at once continues, usually resulting in overdraft fees. Also where are the reduced overdraft fees by the law Biden recently passed? And additional delays processing transfers or charges that don’t even appear at all, where they could at least as pending. These need to be fixed asap.
if you don’t already have a sefcu account, stay far away. if you do have one, be VERY diligent about checking your transactions for overdraft charges even if your account remains positive!!! i know i’ve left a review for this app being so so bad, therefore it’s strange to me that i keep needing to/my rating and review don’t stay? is sefcu having them removed? the app has only gotten worse - now with the extra large font so anyone within 100 feet of you can read your banking information and also putting the ads for their services at the top so i have to scroll down to get to the information i need? t-rash. ever since the merge with capcom, sefcu’s offerings, service, apps, and worthiness have all completely tanked. they charged my spouse THREE OVERDRAFT FEES when their account was NOT overdrafted and they’re refusing to reverse the fees because “tHe TiMe ThE MeRcHaNt pUt tHe ChArGe ThRoUgH” THE ACCOUNT WASNT NEGATIVE AND YOU JUST STOLE $90 i have had an account with sefcu for SEVENTEEN YEARS. we are actively transferring all of our funds out of sefcu into aspiration while we search for a new local credit union to use. i suggest anyone who has a sefcu account do the same. unreal. unacceptable and absolutely unreal.
I haven’t had any problems with this SEFCU App. Even though it has changed a bit. It has kept up on all my bills through all I have done and hasn’t done me wrong, so thank you SEFCU App.!! 👍🏼👍🏼This new connection over SEFCO took me by surprise but, I still like my bank even though they connected with Broadview and as long as I still can look over my money in my savings and checking I don’t care what the name my bank does as long as everything else stays the same. 👍🏼👍🏼
I was a CapCom customer. The CapCom app even though it was older is so much better. Very basic things were left out of this app that make me wonder who developed this! Here is an example: Your ‘Biller’ list as they call it is not alphabetical! There is no way to organize. Are you kidding me! If you have a lot, you have to scroll through the entire list to find. Also you can not make a “Biller’ inactive like you could on CapCom. Sometimes you may only pay someone once every couple of years and u do not need them clogging up your list. NOW every single person ir company I have ever paid is on my list making it even more ridiculous to try and find someone. This app gets an F and I hope they do something fast or I am leaving!
HORRIFIC app has a very ANNOYING bright WHITE background bad for my visual challenges! it does not display APR rates on my accounts-unable to send a secure message to a employee on the app. I assumed with this merger in Upstate NY that the transition would be easy and that all the EXEMPLARY benefits and services I had with CAPCOMFCU would be awesome with no difficulties. I found that to be unacceptable and trying to get an employee on the phone going through all the “AI” female voice prompts is a waste of my time I await to get the reply from your IT staff on this portal.
Continuing issues I’ve had when using it on my iPad: (1) works only in landscape format (doesn’t rotate with iPad position). (2) Menu options on the left side on the Accounts page don’t fit in the screen. Only the edges of the boxes are visible. (3) When I tap my profile/user name at the top right, the screen goes haywire, flipping rapidly to the left. The only way to stop it is to double press the home button to display all the open apps, then swipe up the SEFCU app to close it. These issues have been happening since the new app appeared last year (fall 2021). I thought they would be quickly resolved since they’re so blatant. But nope, not yet.
I much prefer the old format that gave a total at the bottom of the scheduled bills. Not sure now what the total is. Was much easier before to see all scheduled bills separately from non scheduled. Much less useful now. Not sure but it looks like even though a bill my be scheduled 2 or 3 weeks from the present date it is now deducted from account when posted, making it much more difficult to manage money. Definitely do not like it.
No point in getting the app. Continues to crash and then when you reset everything, it crashes again. No point whatsoever in trying to get it to work. Also, tech support won’t help because they’re only there to answer general questions, so if you’re not logged in, they can’t help you with your account info. Just use the website and save yourself time and trouble.
This has been an issue for a year now and they still haven’t fixed it. When you go into the mortgage portal to pay, you have to click on submit payment which takes you to a page that requires you to click on the terms and conditions before submitting payment. The terms and conditions opens in a different page and there is no way to get back to the payment page. If you press the back arrow button you are taken back to the portal page. It’s insanely frustrating that the only way to go on a desktop computer (that is what Sefcu told me when I called last year). It still isn’t fixed.
The app will be fine the more I interact with it. My recommendation is to put pertinent information on the top level of the mobile app. For example, I have a personal loan and the “next due date” is buried under account details which is many clicks into the workflow. When logging on, I want to immediately see my accounts and next payment due, taking out the guesswork and anxiety about missing a payment. Additionally, the color scheme/branding is not consistent. For example, there is a lot of white space and the buttons for each account mirror colors of capcom. This pulls from the royal blue that is now associated with broadview.
I love being able to see all of my personal and personal joint accounts all in one place. However, I expected to be able to see my business account too. I assume this is because I registered my business account with an EIN and not my social. But when I try to link another account, not only my Broadview business account, but also my other bank account. There’s always an error. All in all it serves its purpose for now, and I look forward to improvements.
I put the app on my iPhone and iPad also for convenience. I don’t like the way the app won’t work vertically on my iPad, but the bigger problem is the app begins a fast sideways scroll when I tap on my name/settings to log out. I end up having to turn the device off. When Covid-19 restrictions ease a little, I need to see someone in the bank that can help me in person as the phone help doesn’t seem to be helpful.
I feel that the app doesn’t have all of the features that it did when it was CapCom and it is most inconvenient to have to go to a laptop to perform some transactions that you used to be able to do on the app. Also the available balance and the current balance do not add up properly when you have a pending transaction or card hold. It doesn’t subtract all of the transactions sometimes and it used to before right away. I think the app that was used when it was CapCom should be reinstated.
Don’t understand your reason on why you do it like you do when it was always correct before! For instance, apartment rent as dining and restaurant ($1,712) and HOA Dues as charity giving ($200). Probably minor to some people but annoying to me. Otherwise, what I’ve been doing far is good. Every time I try to pick a nickname it’s already taken. Been trying for about 10 minutes now. Getting really annoyed.
When our bank was Cap Com the app was very user friendly. Since the merge, I have struggled to use the app. I wish you would follow the same format that Cap Com had. One of my daughters actually just closed her account with you and my other daughter asked me to close hers as well because she is away at school and the app does not allow her to bank remotely with ease. I actually went to a branch to ask for help, and still walked away unsure. Not sure how much longer our family will stay with you. My husband has had an account with Cap Com for over 40 years and we are not sure how much longer we will stay with you.
This app is awful compared to the previous CapCom App
Was forced to use the new app after the conversion was finalized. This app is awful. I hate that it does not show you your true account balance. To figure out how much money you actually have you have to click into each account and then subtract anything that is pending. It also does not show everything, where the capcom app showed any transaction right away. If I wanted to do math to see how much money I have in my account I would just check my checkbook. This is super inconvenient when on the go. The layout is god awful. I hate that all accounts show on the same page.
I don't know why ppl would try to use this app as the previous one was still active. When the old app told me this one was ready, I opened this one and got it set up and logged in, in under 5 minutes! Such a smooth ride! Amazing UI, everything from the previous app is here, even added this new thing “Snapshot” (it lets you see ur balance without logging in). 10/10!
As a SEFCU employee, I’m very excited for this app. It allows our members to have more self service options and brings more clarity to transactions while in the app. Initial log in can be frustrating but once you get past that the app offers lots of options. Explore all the tabs, play with different setting and customize your online banking experience.
I’ve been banking online with SEFCU for many years and I must say I much preferred the old bill pay system over the new. You didn’t have to initiate a separate app, the accounts the checks were being written on were clearer and I just found it much easier to use. The rest of the site is great, account summaries and so forth. Still love banking with SEFCU.
Loving the new app… lots of new functionality and having alerts on changes to my credit score for free is so useful! I also love the snapshot functionality and ability to see my other accounts all in one place to more easily track my spending. Plus I can add my kids accounts that I’m joint on and track their spending too!
The app does not appear to be optimized for use with tablets/iPads. The functions all work but it will not display the pages in portrait but only landscape. When using my iPad I use the the web page for banking not the app. The app does work in portrait mode on my iPhone 13 so that’s a positive. I think it would be helpful to fix this glitch or if that’s not going to happen at least tell people it will only work in landscape mode on iPads and tablets.
The app is great for everything except paying my mortgage. You have to read the terms and conditions before clicking the check box to authorize the payment. The terms and conditions brings you to a separate page where you cannot go back to where you left off and have to start the whole process over again. Not a bad app, just the one thing I would like to do on the app and I can no longer do it. :(
Used it to deposit a check that was issued BY SEFCU .. and it is now 5 days later and it’s not in my account, and there is no sign of it anywhere. I used the chat feature to get in touch with somebody. It gives me a countdown, then as it reaches zero, it gives me a person’s name, and then a logo flashes for anywhere from 1 - 8 minutes and then asks me to rate my experience. Going on 1 hour now of trying, and it simply does not work. This app is awful. It’s no good. It is useless. It’s good only for checking balances. I can log into the website for that. What’s the point of this app?!!
So I just signed in to the new app and of course there are bugs. Not what I was expecting. Bill Pay tab doesn’t work; can’t get past the accept terms, just keeps going in limbo. Also, my linked accounts aren’t all on the dashboard. I can see them in settings under accounts, but they don’t show up on the main tab. This app doesn’t look as nice as the previous one either. Looks cheap or like a beta version. I was expecting something fancier and modern looking. Get rid of the red color it’s an eye sore or at least lighten it up.
The App overall works efficiently with all needed information. The only improvement I recommend , which is on other Bank and major Credit Card Apps, is the option to use Face Recognition for access, which is both secure and extremely convenient. Thanks.
I locked out AGAIN and the reset password option does not work. It won’t send the link to my sms or email. Instead it prompts me to call. I’ve been locked out of my account for days, unable to access my funds. If you’re going to make people call to reset their account then there should be 24 hour service. I’m utterly disgusted with this new app. IT IS NOT USER FRIENDLY. If it’s going to lock you out it should release after a day, not keep you locked out indefinitely. People work during your business hours and can not easily call for a reset. FIX IT.
The Cap Com SEFCU merger was supposed to help strengthen the financial technology offerings of the credit union but so far I haven’t seen it. The app is really slow, but it does almost everything you’d expect: show balances, transfer money between accounts, deposit checks, and pay off credit cards. I don’t like how many times the app kicks you into a browser for basic thinks like credit card management.
So you have to give it your password more often than the previous version. But sometimes it won’t take your password. I could type it out on a note, copy it and paste into password field and it still won’t work. Come back an hour later and it works.
I’d give this app 5 stars but the user map on the mobil device when searching for the nearest branch or ATM is not user friendly at all. It should be able to locate the nearest branch or ATM and show my location and bring me right to it in maps. Instead I have to pinch my fingers around on the map figure out where I am on the map then select the nearest ATM or branch. I hope this review is helpful.
As a lifelong member of the former Sefcu, I’m actually quite impressed and amazed by this new company taking over Broadview. I seriously had some doubts but they proved themselves worthy of my business with them on a few of my accounts and I hope moving forward they will keep continuing to prove themselves for years to come. Sincerely, Tara Ruzycky & family
I downloaded the app and tried to Mobile Deposit a check. A few days went by and I didn’t see the check post to my account yet, so I contacted a representative online. It turns out my check was rejected because I didn’t sign the back and only wrote “For SEFCU Mobile Deposit” on the back of it. Well when you go to make a mobile deposit that’s what it tells you to do, so that’s what I did. But now I have misplaced the check, so that’s annoying too.
On my iPhone 8 w/ iOS 15.2 you cannot see the full name of accounts I am viewing or making transfers to & from. That’s even when I try the drop down list to choose accounts. I have to rely on know account balance amount to be sure what one(s) I am selecting.
When you transfer $ to another account it only has the last 4 digits when you are ready to transfer instead of having the multiple People icon. I always hit send and hope it is going into the correct account. In the beginning you can choose what ever account that part is easy but when you actually transfer it’s hard to tell.
I like the app overall but l would like to see improvements made to the "Bill Pay" section. I prefer to see the bills that are being paid listed in order of when they are due i.e. if a bill is scheduled to be paid today, it is at the top of the list. Then the bills scheduled to be paid tomorrow are listed next, and so on. Thank you.
My Federal credit union was acquired out of greed v and merged into this ridiculous monstrosity. They don’t support joint accounts and the app doesn’t work as well as the Capital Communications Federal Credit Union app. This institution was destroyed by greed and isn’t going to get any better. People that had access to your account at its inception that no longer are allowed in your account can access your account, and if you had a separate joint account it’s more integrated into your account. Greed is paramount to security and technical solutions. Bank elsewhere.
I’ve been a member for 10 years and recently was forced to install and use this app. I’ve never had so many problems: -Crashes constantly -Alway have to log back into the app - Touch ID useless -navigating between pages takes forever and often times when it crashes -this app is not user friendly, why I have to go through multiple screens to access my actual credit card account is ridiculous. Making a payment in the overview vs. the actual account page do not have the same payment account options, when using an external bank account… I am beyond frustrated. This was a drastic change in platforms and not necessary in my opinion as well as my son who also has the same issues with it. Why change something that was working? I had NOT ONE ISSUE in years with the previous app.
App doesn’t show all joint accounts and for loan/car payments, it says you don’t owe anything on the next due date until the new month begins. For example, on October 31st, it said next payment was due November 13th and $0.00 was due, then on November 1st it said I had a balance due on the 13th. Keeps signing me out my account. And it is difficult going back and forth from my account to my husband’s account because we have a joint account but because he is the primary owner it only appears on his account.
Keep up the good work. You guys really came through, during the pandemic. You made so easy to juggle funds around from one account to another, to stay afloat during hard times; by not restricting the amount of account transfers. That was a game changer for me and my partner. That gesture alone helped me out so much.
When I had CAPCOM, the app gave me the ability to side by side the screen with my spreadsheet app so I could reconcile on my ipad. It currently doesn’t allow this functionality, but I’m hopeful it will in the future. Aside from that, I love having all of my accounts in one place finally! Going from CAPCOM to the merger with SEFCU was actually beneficial for me. :)
Not really happy with the new app. It looks just like a port of the main website, making me wonder why I have the app to begin with. It also won’t let me log out. When I tap on my avatar for the drop down menu to log out, the app jumps into some kind of loop where it goes to a blank page, then back to my account into, then blank page, then account info, then blank page, etc. …. The only way to get out is to shut down the app entirely.
Good luck applying for a loan on the mobile app. I filled out the form three times just to get to the end and lose progress because I couldn’t agree to the terms, it just took me back to the home page. It doesn’t remember your passwords even when you check the “remember me” button. Pretty frustrating interface but other than that it is convenient to transfer money between accounts
The app has a weird glitch sometimes when attempting to transfer $ from one account to another. It freezes on the transfer page and doesn’t allow you to scroll down to click submit/confirm transfer. An odd somewhat annoying glitch!
Where you use your bank card it should show up on the app!
If I spend 50 bucks on gas, it says pending for 2 days. That part is fine but that money is already spent so they should deduct the amount from your balance! Other wise the app is great
It’s hard for me to understand why developers change well-functioning, user-friendly apps to ones that completely frustrate customers. It’s ridiculous that I have to keep signing in. My phone only opens to my face, why can’t this app do the same (like it used to). The chat would be a nice feature if you can stand the wait. I’m not seeing the benefit of this update at all, except perhaps to teach me patience (it’s not working).
This app . Doesn’t update in real time. You will need to keep tally to balance the checkbook; Or suffer the penalties. This app feels like a a desperate merger of capcom. At one time there were two identical apps . To my knowledge that merger is being voted on, and people are actively voting against it. Had issues with apple wallet and their debit card. Removed and re-added Fixed the issue but I will never use apple wallet in anything purchase that’s important . Business meals. Laptops etc. E-deposit seemed ok.. My friend had a problem ; wanted to go deposit a check bank manager said no workers here to process. Fine I’ll deposit electronically. They flagged his account and the check. Over $5k so the bafoonery ensues. State employees use this credit union and it seems to be getting worse. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
