Doesn’t deserve less than 5*, just some minor complaints
As somebody who has put dozens of hours into the Steam version, seeing this on iOS was an instant buy. It’s definitely a 5* game, but I wish the UI was more like the the PC version, especially when playing this on iPad, it seems like there’s a lot less information available on the upgrade screen that could easily fit on an iPad screen, but isn’t included. Additionally, the game only has partial controller support, which isn’t a dealbreaker, but it is annoying to have to switch between the two. Still highly recommended for the price, keep it up, devs!

Broken Balance on Mobile
The game plays a little different from the PC with tweaked speed settings etc. I don’t mind 99.9% of this at all and find it to be appropriate. However, there is one difference which I have to imagine is simply a game breaking bug where elites on difficulty 5 are essentially impossible to get past. They attack more frequently and with less delay between the hit box showing up and actually dealing their damage, and the attacks will one or two shot you, where you usually have about 4-8 hits with a typical build on the PC (as well as the ability to kill the elites - on the mobile port it seems they have at least double the health pool so racing their damage is also not feasible). This renders almost every single run on difficulty 5 a guaranteed defeat on the first elite you encounter, regardless of character or item quality. You can Google this known issue by searching for something like “Brotato Elites Difficulty Mobile Bug”. If they fix this one issue the app would deserve five stars, but I would say in its current state it’s not even worth purchasing as you will end up progressing very quickly to a point where difficulty 4 is not challenging and 5 is impossible. I hope anyone reading this chooses to wait until they release a bug fix for this before buying - I already put the money in for the premium version and consider it a waste of money until they do fix this.

Get the free version
Game is amazing. I know that because I downloaded the free version first. When I saw the premium I was very excited to unlock new or exclusive content. I was wrong. It, in fact, has less content than the free version. Free version does not force ads ever. What it has is adventure/survival mode. To gain higher levels you can CHOOSE to watch ads or just progress through daily/weekly missions for different types of currency. I thought in paid version there would be some other way to gain levels that didn’t involve ads, or maybe not as many, or different currency gain since you shelled out $5 from the beginning. Or maybe different characters, idk… ANYTHING. That isn’t even an option. You just don’t get access to anything other than standard play. So I just threw away my money for a stripped down version that is not is not even compatible with the other. All the hours of progress spent do not carry over. I have no incentive to even play this version. What a bummer. Support team basically just said it’s an ad free version, but there were never forced ads anyway. I could have gotten the free version, chosen to never watch ads and still had more content. I am so confused and disappointed. Either charge for the whole game from the beginning or remove this version from the shop. I feel like I’ve been tricked.

Too hard, harder than free
I played the free version, was up to the mage, then a friend suggested the premium. I highly regret it. It’s been 20 losses with the very first character on the easiest setting. The easiest setting shouldn’t take 20 or more tries to complete, especially since I beat it before in the free version, the first time through. This paid version is way harder than the free version and it honestly is too hard and unrewarding. I’ve gotten nothing for my 20 attempts. Not a single thing. At least in the free version you get stuff when you die. I play difficult games. I like them. But this isn’t one of them. This is simply a terribly balanced one stick shooter. At what point am I to be rewarded for my efforts? At what point are you going to lower the difficulty on the easiest setting? How am I supposed to unlock stuff when level 11 is unbeatable and even if I beat it the boss is unkillable but that’s not the hard part. The hard part is getting hit by random things when your screen is full of enemies. That’s fine, btw. But not on the easiest setting. The easiest setting- 0 - should allow players to easily progress and unlock various things so that they can play the harder difficulty levels. We are unable to do that here. Here, level 0 means nothing, as you continually try to beat it you get nothing for the losses.

Improvements?
Big fan here. It seems to me like in an effort to make the game more challenging you have altered some of the way the stats work. It almost seem counter intuitive now: I have a 28% doge stat, but my character get hurt easier than before. Add more speed and the enemies become way faster. Add armor? You take more damage. If you want to make the game more challenging think of other things may be, but this takes the fun out of the game because your character development doesn’t feel reflected on the actual gameplay. It was exciting to see you have slight advantages based on your choices. Now reaching higher waves based on this fun premise seems to have gone south and not enjoying the game as much when you have a high stat that seems useless. It feels the game is working against you for the sake of it in an unbalanced arbitrary way and I’m loosing fun playing it. It’s a cool game, don’t ruin it just for the sake of making it harder

Frustratingly Bugged Brotato Experience
I recently downloaded the "Brotato" iOS game, lured in by its captivating graphics and intriguing concept. However, as someone who appreciates a smooth gaming experience, I was utterly disappointed. The game boasts a unique character called "Demon" which, I admit, initially caught my interest. Unfortunately, this feature became the source of my ire. While navigating my character through the treacherous world, I noticed an inexplicable loss of HP even without any collisions with monsters. This bug led to several untimely and frustrating deaths, diminishing the overall gameplay experience. I tried to give the game a fair chance, hoping that the developers would rectify this glaring issue, but alas, it persisted. The constant setbacks caused by the HP bug significantly detracted from the game's potential, leaving me feeling aggravated and unsatisfied. In its current state, I cannot recommend "Brotato" to my fellow mobile gaming enthusiasts. The HP bug is a glaring oversight that needs to be addressed immediately, as it severely impacts the enjoyment of what could have been an incredible game. Until this issue is resolved, I can only provide a one-star rating.

iPad experience - it’s like playing the game with tunnel vision
Great game! 5 stars on the iPhone, But on the iPad it’s just short of being great. I generally play games on the iPad because it sounds better, it’s bigger, and I can See More of what’s on screen. Unfortunately with the iPad version of Brotato, it certainly is Bigger and sounds great, BUT I actually see LESS of the game (and I’m playing on the big screen version of the iPad). That means: the time I have to react to enemies appearing on screen is very short compared to the iPhone. On iPhone i see enemies coming a LOT sooner, and as a direct result, I die less. Sure it’s nice to see your character and enemies up close, but I would have like the zoomed out view more than this “tunnel vision” experience. I would love to play this game with an expanded view on the tablet, and keep the tunnel view as an optional mode in settings for those who like it (and like dying more often).

A disappointing port of an amazing game
When you port a game from keyboard and mouse to phone you tend to tune down the difficulty. While most enemies appear identical and the player as powerful as the steam release (iPhone version is several patches behind but I digress) the bosses behave dramatically differently in this release Let’s look at the butcher in particular. The first phase is almost impassible, the visual indicators for damage are almost a full second shorter than the steam release based on my timings. This leads to the only viable solution is going so fast that you pass the danger which isn’t realistic, stand completely still, or guess the direction. I have a maxed save on steam but I have doubts I’ll ever pass difficulty 4 with the current version. I look forward to launching this in 6 months and having everything be better. The devs tend to take their time but their quality is unquestioned

Good but bugged
Honestly I really enjoy the game, played and beat most characters on D5 on PC. I have done about half here as well. The mobile version has been generally great with one notable exception - Colossus elite. This is the one that initially spawns many orbs from the ground, then the small fast moving circle around you. The hit box does not align with the animation - it’s actually active before the orbs pop from the ground. This is not intended behavior, as it’s not this way on PC, and as a result, it’s a massively more difficult fight than any other in the game, on here and on PC. Great runs can be immediately shut down if he shows up early, leading to an incredibly frustrating experience. Also some weapons do not behave the same with strongly negative results. Any sweeping weapon with good knock back will hit enemies to you. Shotguns waste a lot of ammo. The way melee weapons target enemies is changed for the worse.

Great game. Mobile version has some flaws.
So Brotato is awesome. I actually bought the steam version after playing this one, and that’s when I realized how busted this port is. The game is so much harder on mobile. Touch controls are going to be inherently more difficult for a game like this, but there are game mechanics that are for some reason tuned to be less forgiving in this version. The Butcher is basically a run ender because his attacks are so fast that the only way to dodge them is pure luck. Healing items don’t leash to the player when you walk by like they do on PC. The shop tagging system feels like it isn’t quite working, but admittedly that may be RNG for me. Anyway I know that they are aware of these issues, and if they fix them I’ll fix my rating. Until then I’ll be playing on steamdeck.

Really fun but dont buy this version :/
I really enjoy the elements that this game takes from other games by being roguelike having autochess-like builds. Its able to blend these elements really well while still being unique enough to have its own identity. The only reason the rating is 4 stars and not 5 is because I and many others payed full price for this game and with the full game (which is much more polished) being released with another pay option feels unfair to the early supporters. If there is any way to either add a feature to unlock the full polished game for buyers of this version or to bring the same polish to this version of the game it would really show appreciation for the early supporters.

Great game, but port has some quirks
Really enjoying my time with the game so far (~15 hours in). The iPad scaling issues look to have been fixed, but a few things: - Using WASD to move on the iPad Pro keyboard causes the character to move in that direction for ~a second, instead of just a little like on desktop which makes it impossible to navigate properly using it - The cloud saving sometimes has issues and doesn’t sync often enough to where there are mismatches. A force sync option or upload / download button would be helpful to ensure progress is synced

Bro my tato
*Brotato* is a fast-paced, top-down roguelike shooter where you play as a potato armed to the teeth. The game blends humor with intense action as you fend off waves of enemies while upgrading your weapons and abilities. Its simple, cartoonish art style contrasts nicely with the chaotic gameplay, keeping things lighthearted but challenging. The variety of weapon combinations and power-ups keeps it fresh, while the controls are responsive and intuitive. The learning curve is steep, but it’s perfect for fans of roguelikes looking for a quick and rewarding action-packed experience.

Awesome game, unintentionally difficult port
Brotato is a great game, you can read other reviews for that. But this mobile port has some very large and gamebreaking bugs that make it far far more difficult than the PC version. Some of the highest impact bugs: -The Butcher elite on wave 11 attacks much faster than the PC version and as a result is extremely difficult to beat -Certain enemies that speed up on wave 16 can speed themselves up over and over making it impossible to run away from them -Some items don’t work correctly or at all. The Snake item doesn’t spread burning, Knockback does not seem to be applied properly (or at all), Bandana doesn’t work on weapons with zero pierce to start, and burning damage does not stack or increase with elemental damage properly. All of these bugs make several characters very difficult to the point of being almost unwinnable. Combined with the poor mobile joystick design (please let us adjust the size!), these bugs make the game a much worse experience than the PC version overall.

This is the best game ever made, and it better be updated consistently
And now he updated more often but also maybe make it there a mini boss around 11 that isn’t difficult but isn’t hard either maybe like an easy boss to warm you up for boss that’s on wave 20 and it’s the best game I’ve ever played because of how fun action packed game it is and how it’s a survival game and since I play so many survival games and I’ve gotten pretty good good really good at playing survival games because of how many hours are they on survival games so if you could make it easier to be the second difficulty but not so easy that anyone could beat it and maybe is for all the other ones too so it’s not like you have to spend thousands of hours in the game

Best game I’ve ever played
I love this game so much, I literally have no problems with it, especially the fact that you don’t need internet which means, since I travel a lot, it’s the perfect game to play in the car or on a plane. I even play it in the bathroom at school. Only one suggestion, add pets (items category) that help you kill more aliens and some that could collect the xp to help u progress much more quickly, and pets should die after taking to much damage, and their health should be the same as yours. <:

Awesome over the years
Amazing game I absolutely love it. I haven’t bothered to make a review, but I’ve been playing this game for three years. It’s so fun. It never gets boring. I have gotten every single combination that I think I can get. I think I have gotten every achievement well actually maybe not that one, but I have completed most of the game, if y’all could make an extension to this game that a little bit more new and modern I would definitely pay money for it

Great game, mid port
There’s a number of bugs, which many have mentioned. The boss’s attack patterns are 1 second faster, making them near impossible to move out of the way. You can’t u lock the character when you hit below 20 speed. The screen also seems to cap out at a certain number of enemies, making pacifist runs way harder. Once you hit lvl 17-18 on pacifist, get ready for the enemies to move way faster than you and get swarmed to death because you can’t kill the enemies that speed up their allies. These issues don’t exist for the steam game. Hoping this changes for this port.

Great Game
I just got this game yesterday with my friend me and him have played so much and it’s so fun! There’s so much little elements and big elements of the game that makes it great especially the ability to unlock achievements. Another thing I like about the game it’s kind of a strategy game with the characters and having to keep your skills balanced! One thing I would like to see you add is co-op multiplayer, I know it’s a lot to ask but it would be great to see it in the future of this game.

Good and faithful but a quick bug report
The title says it all. Let’s cut to the chase Here are the bugs I’m reporting The danger 5 reward character can randomly die from health spent in the shop upon leveling up Handcuffs displayed hp cap it sets doesn’t reset properly between runs(Had a run where it said my hp cap would be 89 from a previous run but it showed up when I was at 30 hp. The item caps hp at the value it’s at when it’s taken. Any hp past that point isn’t used in waves.)

Love this game!
This game is REALLY good. I haven’t been able to find a game similar to it other than pickle Pete, which is not as good in my opinion. All the different characters, and weapons, and ways to play make this game really good! And it’s not too easy either! You have to strategize to make your build the absolute powerhouse it can. Nothing is better than something else and it makes this game amazing!!

Passable but frustrating port
Missing several characters, play options, and difficulty/accessibility options when compared to PC version. Still somewhat fun, but exceptionally frustrating due to what feels like poor RNG settings. I've hit streaks where the game stops offering weapons entirely after a few waves, leaving you to fend with underleveled equipment. I wasn't even aware of rarities beyond purple until looking up some strategy online. In short, bring the functionality up to what you offer on PC, fix your RNG so it offers a fighting chance, or do both. This game isn't worth paying for until then

New update from Steam user
This is a straightforward port to mobile. It’s more difficult than on PC (you can’t see where your thumb is and obviously touch controls). I haven’t experienced any bugs mentioned in previous posts (could be fixed could be lucky). The butcher/chef either has been fixed or I just been playing op characters (encountered with sick and renegade). Evading the horse elite was tougher. 4 stars because they still ask for reviews every other game in the shops.

Love the game! I only found out about it when it came to gamepass on the Xbox. Been playing for a solid week straight now and it’s all I play for the most part right now. I was tired but I wanted to play Brotato on the Xbox, but I didn’t want to get out of bed. So I was thinking… maybe it’s on the PHONE! To my luck, it popped up! Got the premium version asap! 😂

Harder than it seems
Awesome game guys!! I’d like to create my own Brotato. How about this: You make a character and the further on a harder difficulty the more you get with that character, more points you can earn to give them OP stats, buffs or items to start the play with. It would vastly increase the replay rate. Because as of right now I’ve unlocked everything. It was fun while it lasted but I think that idea would make it a lot more fun.

Bought twice, don’t regret it
Originally bought this on steam during the summer sale, it was cheap so why not? Spent hours as soon as I got around to playing it. Brotato is an easy, experimental rougelite with runs that aren’t hours long, but still hectic and entertaining, complimented with tons of different builds and weapons. If you want to kill time and still have fun, this is THE game

An amazing port of the PC game!
Hey Devs, This is an amazing port of the PC game! While clearly influenced by Vampire Survivors, I love the game's dual mechanics of experience to level up stats and then materials to purchase new items (be it weapons or gadgets). On top of that, the game has such a clever character/class system. Your character determines your starting equipment, stats, and usually a few unique quirks (both helpful and harmful).

Fun, but very problematic
It’s a really fun survival shooter but it’s got some pretty big problems. First, weapon and item selection is utterly broken; it’s seemingly 100% random, which means you can go 10 levels or more without even being offered a weapon upgrade, and when one finally comes up on reroll it’s a tier 1 (and it’s level 18, it’s a crossbow, and you’re playing a Gladiator). It’ll do stuff like offer you the “lumberjack”’perk every level, even after you have it (it doesn’t stack). The little guy who drops a crate? He does it maybe 50% of the time (regardless of your luck stat) but always on desktop. It’s incomplete: there’s a bunch of stuff that didn’t make it in for whatever reason. It’s a lot of fun but devs should prioritize getting as close to 1:1 with the desktop experience to have a true 5-star game.

Great Game but DIFFICULTY
This is a great import from PC. The move is smooth and combinations are fun. I think it’s absolutely worth its price. One thing I don’t understand is the difficulty. The wave 11 boss from difficulty 4 took me hours and still failed to pass. Maybe I’m not a good player, but other reviews are also saying this boss is abnormally strong. I will appreciate even developers could give me some suggestions about how to pass.

Need to adjust the difficulty
Hi devs, The bullet animation for the boss/elite (butcher and monk) in wave 11 is impossible to avoid. It is too faster comparing to PC version. Is that a bug? I’m pretty sure it’s not myself but many of players is having problem to beat it. Great game overall, appreciate if that can be fixed. Another bug report: after I play a lower level, the previous unlocked levels are locked again

Amazing, but huge unpatched flaws
Incredibly addicting game, and absolutely a future classic of the genre. Great replayability. But. There are significant issues with the gameplay that haven’t been addressed on mobile which don’t exist on the PC platform, and the devs seem to be spending more time with a seasonal “special events” than on feature parity and bug issues. Notably: knock back is broken for melee weapons. Wrench is unusable as a swing actually loops enemies into your body. Turrets tend to deploy around the outside edges of the map uselessly. Trees don’t spawn immediately as they do on PC. There are tons of other bug reports on the official Blobfish discord. Overall I would recommend avoiding the premium version of this game until you see updates with the bugs squashed and feature parity to the Steam version. I will update this review if that ever happens.

Digustingly Fun
Yeah, its a vampire survivors clone. But man, is it the best one. I think calling it a "clone" is an insult honestly. It is a perfect pairing to Vampire Survivors. Like a beautiful steak and a glass of fine red wine, both are great individually, but I love having both. This game is really, stupidly, unfogivingly fun. It will melt time away. Add more original content and optimizing needed
Bug fixes are fine. But this game is built for desktop, not mobile. Base pickup rate for the game needs to be higher and there should be some invulnerability frames to accommodate less than ideal control schemes of mobile gaming. Also, mobile specific content would be nice to differentiate the main game and the mobile version. Maybe borrow some features from the main game’s modding community.

Unfair and Unrewarding
This game was enjoyable at first, but is very punishing without much of a reward system in place for good runs. You can lose a good run in seconds, and the new difficulty levels are impossible. I’ve played probably over 100 runs and have won twice, total. Maybe I’m just bad at games but I did not enjoy my time with this game, and would not advise somebody else to get it unless they like a punishing, repetitive, and unrewarding experience rooted in a solid core gameplay loop.

They did a good job porting this from PC. It’s a relatively simple control scheme so I’m not super surprised, (no shade towards the developers). It just needs more. There seems to be less than 1/3 of the characters from pc. As long as future updates bring these characters, I will be thrilled. When that happens then I’ll change my review to 5 stars.

Flawed endless scaling
The game is well thought out and fun, but the Endless mode scaling is entirely broken to the point of worthless. The game used to be fun when it was possible to go to wave 500+, but now once you hit wave 30 the materials dropped and XP gained scale down exponentially while the enemy's damage and health scales up exponentially to the point where it's now harder to get to level 40 than it used to be to get the level 400.

Can be fun but still broken
The latest patch appears to have broken the bosses and mini bosses again. Their attacks give zero time to dodge and kill you in seconds. This was something they had previously fixed, but the game is essentially unplayable again. The overall difficulty has still not been addressed either, it’s so much harder than the PC version.
