I used to play this with my brother religiously on NES! To hear everything, to see everything! It brings back such AMAZING memories! We got to super bible bobble and so of course I had to download this game! The only issue is how do I drop back down from a ledge? Other than that, thank you for bringing this back into my life... I guess, who’ll I’m asking questions, how can I legit buy this game and not have to watch ads or get diamonds or anything? Also, most reviews here are from kids that cant be pleased. Please ignore them and their issues.
Hard controls. No multiplayer. Bad additional Graphics.
I appreciate the classic game was brought to IOS, but the game has many problems. First is the graphical quality. The graphics look like they were rushed. It looks like they just typed in some stuff and left it like that. Second, I know this is a mobile game, but that doesn’t mean that we need gems to move on in the game. They could have something like credits, since it is an arcade game. Next would have to be the controls. They’re to hard to use, and seems like they’re in the wrong places. It’d be better to use a joystick like control on the left so that you can move and jump instead of pressing seperate buttons to do it. And the bubble button should be bigger too. Last would have to be the fact that the promotional things for this game tease multiplayer, something that isn’t actually shown in the game. Although it is hard to add multiplayer to a mobile game, there are ways it can be added gracefully. I feel like, the bad ending when you only play single player should have been added, because the whole original game was about teamwork. Other than that, the game plays mostly the same from the original.
I thought this was gonna be one of those unlicensed ports but no, Taito actually granted you the license. The remaster itself is not bad too although the bubble shoot sound and second item pickup sound are swapped, the death sound sounds kind of off, and the sounds of picking up an item overlap each other. Now to the part that makes me thought it was unlicensed, the presentation makes it look like some bootlegger took the arcade rom and put it on a crappy emulator, I’ve seen your other apps aside from the licensed ports, are nothing more than bootlegs of other games such as Angry Birds, the diamond mechanic is kind of useless, the word diamond isn’t finished when I collect my 1 hour 30 diamonds, the description on the AppStore page has many grammatical errors (although it could be translated from Korean, albeit poorly translated) and I have no clue where the multiplayer option was, the one thing bubble bobble was made for. Other than that, the game is just like the arcade version.
This port is pretty great which I assume was in part of Taito, but as you will quickly notice, the menus seem amateur for this kind of a game. There are also an abundance of ads that you can’t remove, even without the optional ads. I feel that I would have rather that I would have $5-$10 spent for an ad-free game and maybe a few more dollars for extras. Considering that this was more of a collaboration with Taito and the development team that worked with them, it’s seems to be the norm for the development team. If you can’t afford another version of the game, can’t access a version of it (no arcade archives release on switch available), or if you just want to play the game on the go, you could play the game in this form, but you won’t have the best experience.
So good, but missing two key features of the original
This is an excellent remake of the original Bubble Bobble. There’s one big improvement, auto fire. However there are two problems that need to be fixed: First and most important, it is basically impossible to bounce your way out of a tight space. I’m the original you could simultaneously blow a bubble and jump, landing on it and bouncing higher. In this version, if you are facing a wall that is impossible. This is critical to beating certain levels, especially those later in the game. Second, when the player dies, it should reset the red, angry enemies and Baron von Blubba should disappear.
1988 Los Angeles CA. John Adam’s Junior high, there was a liquor store that had the arcade across the street from the school, and it was very hard to play, there was always a line, when I mean line was all those quarters that they put on the screen that way you’ll be next, so one time I ditched school just because I knew nobody would be playing Bubble Bobble, I played all my pocket money I had, got caught ditching, but well worth it. Bubble Bobble one of my all time favorites.
God I love this game so much, used to play it religiously. So much fun going through all the levels again, using all the different items, ect. However, the ads can get really annoying really fast, so if there could be a way to like purchase no ads that would be great. The rewards button also doesn’t work for me, but I could do without it, just curious.
Can’t save progress and character blend in and gets lost
Seems as though you can never past enough levels to where you don’t go back to level one once your game is over, unless you pay money to keep going. Would be a better game if yo were able to save progress and continue through the levels, without paying money. Also, the character should be a color other than the same green the bubble are. Half the time, I lose where my character is because it blends in with the bubbles, which are the same shape and size.
Oh the joy. I had completely forgot about this game until today. I just downloaded the app and played for the first time in over 20 years. The brain is an amazing thing. The fact that I could remember what the umbrella did after 20 plus years of not playing and could remember the different levels. It just brought back so many fun memories. Thank you.
I enjoy playing Bubble Bobble so much, but every time I start playing, those annoying ads show up. And whenever and enter the shop, there is no option to remove the ads. So is it possible if you can update the app so I can be able to remove ads? If you get this message, please let me know when it’s ready. Thank you.
If I recall I had to use the C64 keyboard to play this. That was tough! Mobile interface seemed to work well for me though I wouldn’t want to play too many levels any more. Would be nice if a) I could just pay $4 to just have a game without adverts and also ability to jump straight to any level .
This game takes me back to my childhood when I would spend hours on end with just $1. As I went through the stages I kept recalling back 30 years on how I would beat the stage and I am getting so much joy out of this. Whoever put this up. Thanks a million
This brings back so many memories when I was a child, would play this for hours on the Nes, thank you for bring it to mobile, controls could be a little better but besides that it’s great and still to this day a lot of fun
Love this game since I was a kid. It would be better to have one button (to make bubbles) on one side and the other button (to jump) on the other side. Having the two commands on the same side, make it difficult to play on the cell phone.
We use to line up outside the liquor store just to get in… After you made it in, still had to wait till who ever was playing had no more quarters left… Spend my allowance there every weekend… $10 to $20 bucks… Good ol memories
Well, kinda. My wife and I really got into this game on a game console. We beat the whole thing. Took some time, but we had tons of fun along the way. Only thing that would make it better is if it could somehow be two-player.
Brings back memories of spending hours in my neighborhoods corner store, playing this game with friends for hours. No time for getting in trouble because of games like this.
I have good memories (I think) of playing this game! My one complaint is how quickly one has to face Game Over! I wish it would sustain life more than just two hits. Controls are a little difficult but not more than what is expected on a conversion from NES to iPhone app.
The bubble/jump controls do not respond well, can’t be adjusted in any way and the moving controls do not move to the correct sides when prompted. Overall great and worthy of even being paid for if they modernize the game and got with the program of allowing players to customize.
I loved the original game, but I find it extremely difficult to play as a mobile game. Your finger has to swipe over your character to get it to move. As a result, you can’t see what’s going on when enemies attack. They should have copied the game emulators out there by making this look like a mini game boy. Those emulators put the controls away from the game screen so you can actually see the gameplay. Unplayable in its current configuration.
This is a nice version of one of my favorite NES games. And I know it’s hard to make a game like this for phone/tablet, but there’s no possible way really to jump on bubbles in the upper levels when you need to in order to pass it. Also, I agree with another reviewer that I’d rather pay a one time price than keep watching ads.
I used to play this with my sister idk how many years ago probably 4 but I loved it so much also it’s a little hard but that’s what makes it fun Thank you for recreating this game
Plays like the game I used to put quarters into and better than the 90’s pc version I had after that. I kind of miss the 8 bit sounds, but not too much. My left thumb tends to wander outside of the playing area. I miss the manual controls, but it works well enough to be enjoyable
I use to play this game faithfully with my best friend in the whole world 🥰 he taught me love.. life.. and the bubble!!! At 10 years old this game was our way out of the harsh reality’s of what was to come... my friend has yet passed away BUT EVERY TIME I play this game it’s like he’s right here beside me🥰 #IMISSUTATERHEAD
This game (a fine version of the NES classic) is rated for kids 4+ years. Why are there unavoidable zombie/sensual ads for games like State of Survivor that are rated for adults 17+ years old. Please filter your ads or give us the option to pay so that we don’t have to have inappropriate advertisements. Apple parental controls useless on ads.
This brings back so many memories. Still getting used to the controls, but so happy for this little piece of nostalgia - reminds me of playing for hours on end with my brother.
This game brings me back to my childhood. I’m not into the games they play now so this is perfect for me. I spent countless hours playing this in the game room. Thank y’all so much!
I used to love this game as a kid, so I was happy to find it available in the App Store. The graphics look just like the old game, and the music is the same which I like. I just wish it was easier to move. It is hard to switch directions and jump over gaps. I hope they can improve it.
This game is pretty well identical to the classic Nintendo game! Playing it really takes me back to when I was younger and played with my family. Thank you so much for developing this game and making it FREE!!!
I absolutely love this! Played it all the time when I was younger, still play at arcades when I can find it! Love this absolutely & am so glad I can still play it, thank you!!!
So, my mom told me about this game and I asked her if I can try it out and download it. Its the cutest best game ever, I love the little dinosaur, and I really enjoy the music too.
Glad to know I’m not the only one nostalgic about this. I played this with my twinsy when we were kids and it was always teamwork! So this needs to have that same capability pleaseeeeeee.
Love the game. The levels and play are just like the original. The side to side control is not accurate or responsive and the auto shoot just makes it too easy. It’s sad that my generic flip phone in 2004 had better control.
Great game! It would be a stellar game if external controller support was added. Some of the harder levels need faster control inputs that are not possible with on-screen controls. Please add wireless controller support!!! Thank you.
I love these old console system ports to mobile devices, but for the life of me I don’t understand why they aren’t developed with external controller support (which is how we played them back in the ‘80s - with controllers).
