The App looks very nice and is easy to use, but on days that have two Avalanche problems (haven't used it on a day with more than 2) the aspects on the second problem change to the aspects of the first problem after clicking the "+" sign. The only way to get the correct aspects back is to reboot the app. For example, today (1/26/15) there is a persistent slab at and above tree line in the front range on NW, N, NE, and E aspects. There is a loose, wet problem on the W, SW, S, and SE aspects. If I push "+" on the loose wet problem for more info, the aspects change to NW, N, NE, and E. I have to recommend the website over the app until this bug is ironed out.
The new app is awesome!!! Huge improvement over the old app! It is super easy to submit photos and observations. It is also easy to view forecasts and weather that you downloaded in the morning if you are out of service (ie reviewing forecast with partners at a trail head). Huge thank you to CAIC for fixing this app and making it a great tool!
Love this app, I get in the habit of checking it almost everyday during the winter. Been using it for a couple years now and I rely on the forecast anytime I’m up on high peaks in the winter.
A sleek app to read the current Colorado Avalanche forecast. Really happy with this as it looks better than reading it through the browser on the smartphone. Also provides a space to submit observations. The black diamond ads take up a lot of space. Would really like a way to access observations/accidents. The uac app is much better it would be neat if caic added the same features. Overall it's a cool way to read the forecast and I appreciate access to this information on my mobile before heading to Colorado.
The all doesn't show avy danger for different aspects and elevations. Really? Why not? Also, get rid of that banner on the map that says "click anywhere to..." It's just annoying.
I have attempted to use the various versions of this app on both the iOS and Android platforms with limited success. The app constantly fails to load map information, problem list and elevation rose data. Pretty much worthless overall. Latest snafu is the recent update running on iOS 11 where “Error loading map framework!” messages appear upon startup with strong cellular data and WiFi connectivity present.
