App easy to use but External Transfers slow
Use of the app is simple but is limited, as some activity needs to be done online. My only none app or online issue is the time it takes for an external transfer out, as FAQ states 2-3 days but customer service states 5 business days, not counting the day of transfer. It actually has taken 5 full business days. Transfers in take the same but begin earning interest on day of transfer. It is more about getting the money in a more timely manner.

BEWARE BEFORE YOU OPEN AN ACCOUNT!
I haven’t even had this account for 24 hours and it’s been a nightmare. I wanted a new hys to split funds for different things. So i open this account (HUGE MISTAKE). i Cannot transfer any funds into the account. The app and website is terrible. It lags, it kicks you out randomly, it won’t load half the time. I called customer service and was on hold for HOURS before i was able to speak to someone Was told by different representatives that it hadn’t gone through and a ticket was made. I decided i just wanted to close my account. I moved the money to my other Citibank HYS account. All of a sudden a new representative tells me the money is pending and it did go through. It shows nothing is pending on the app or the website and the last representative was not able to see that. This is insane. The hold times are ridiculous. Do your research before you open. I’ve been with Citizens Bank for over a decade and assumed it would be a similar experience. I was so wrong. Not even 24 hours with this account and it’s been nothing but a dang headache. Listen to the reviews, don’t put your money here.

good enough
This app works well and allows me to look at my savings account. I wish it would show how much interest I have accrued on a daily basis like most high interest savings account apps seem to do. I also wish visually it was more modern looking like other bank apps. Also I wish the face ID login process were smoother. This app suffers from the same problem as Citizen Bank’s app where it is only able to automatically login using Face ID the first time the app launches, not when I go back to the app later. Lastly, my only real gripe is how long it takes the bank to process transactions from a Citizens Bank account. I know technically they are separate institutions, but they are both owned by the same parent company. It takes 3-4 business days for the funds to become available even though it’s coming from a sister bank.

A Lot of Room For Improvement.
The tiny credit union I’ve been a member at since I was 15 has a better app than Citizens Access. Since Citizens is entirely online I was expecting the same level of service in app but it falls short. Here’s a list of things my CU has that CA doesn’t: 1. A place to see transfer history with DETAILS about originating account and date made. 2. A place to see all previous check deposits made. 3. Access to printouts such as: Direct Deposit, Verification of Deposits, Account Activity Letters etc. 4. No place to dispute transaction in the app. You found something that doesn’t line up? Gotta call and wait an hour in the queue. And the resulting case will take them FOREVER to resolve 🫠 5. Can’t open a new account in app. Gotta login on a computer. 6. This is more an issue I have with CA not the app but no checking accounts which means no debit cards which means no way to get your money at an ATM. There is no easy way to access your money. Had an emergency and need money? Well gotta wait a few business days for it to transfer into an account you CAN access it in. Good luck if the emergency happens on a Thursday/Friday. Now you gotta wait a whole weekend too. The literal only good thing about CA is the interest rate which is just barely worth all this headache.

No mobile check deposit
When I first opened an account with Citizens Access their FAQ said the website was designed to be mobile friendly and therefore there was no need for an app. Indeed, that was true. The website worked fine even on the tiny screen of iPhone SE. Now there’s an app. It’s okay, but doesn’t have the ability for mobile check deposit. I don’t see any benefit to the app over the website except perhaps Touch ID which could be added to the website. Anyway it’s a fine app but minus one star for no mobile check deposit. For now, the website is just as good. My guess is customers are asking for the app just because all the other banks have one even though it’s not really necessary

Doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but it works
I opened a HYSA with citizens (this is the app you need to use, not the regular citizens account). Citizens access is like a separate entity of citizens bank. I was debating between ally and citizens but went with citizens because their APY was higher. No this app does not have all the bells and whistles and features like other banks such as Ally’s “buckets” features, however it gets the job done. As long as my money is FDIC insured, is accruing interest, and I can transfer my money in and out if need be, then I am happy. It’s a savings account after all, the goal is to let it sit there and not really touch anyways right? Not the fanciest but gets the job done in my opinion.

Great when it works
I have no real complaints about the features of the interface/app. I can do everything I need to… when it works. The app is consistently down and when I go back to app to check to see if it’s fixed it counts for get as suspicious behavior and locks my account; and my only way to fix that is calling in. Not a link sent via email or even email notifications that the app is down and when it’s back up so I wouldn’t bother checking. We signed up for citizens because they had the best interest rate but if there’s a bank with similar rates I may switch as this is exacerbating.

Easy money
I found Citizens by chance and decided since they are FDIC insured, it was a no-brained. My initial interest rate was competitive, but I had no idea they would be raising the rate not once but twice since I started investing with them. The process is simple, secure and easy. I’m so glad I bank with Citizens!

One of Best savings account online.
They are advertising one of the best APY for saving accounts online so I just opened new savings account. However, after reading all reviews I’m not sure I should fund this?! It is just a a savings account for me so I won’t need all the bells and whistles on the app, however It is a little concerning not knowing if finds can be access when needed!? I did have trouble signing in the first couple of times on website and phone but it seemed like the website wasn’t syncing with Phone app. Same password would not work on the two devices.

phone check deposit
I deposit my over time check on December 15th! 2023 CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY STILL HAVEN'T CLEARED THE CHECK YET! I did varo and it cleared with my regular check and it was bigger! This bank is horrible to bank with! You know the feeling of working hard for your money and it’s legit and all it takes is a phone call and they still holding on your funds that you earned! They forever telling you it’s under review? Like why!!!!!!!? I missed the holidays cause of this my 3rd daughter birthday was yesterday day after Christmas and they seem not to care. Never again! Done banking! Guys save yourself the stress!

App is Terrible But Account is Great!
I wish I could actually gain access to my account through the app. It constantly says “sign in is not available and we are working on it.” When I click to sign in, some circle just rolls and rolls over the sign in button and doesn’t allow for me to enter my password. LOVE this account but the app needs to be fixed.

Stuck on verification screen
When the app was working it did exactly what I needed it to do. However, when I try to login, it wants to send a text, call or email verification code—this is fine, but the screen won’t allow me to click on any of the options so I cannot proceed with any choice. I’ve tried to delete & reinstall the app but hasn’t worked. Not sure why this started happening.

Get Rid Of Plaid
PLEASE listen to the countless reviews on this app telling you to end your partnership with Plaid. It is a horrible medium between banks. It doesn’t recognize most banks and constantly has trouble connecting external banks to Citizens. I just opened my Citizens account a week ago and am already thinking of closing it simply due to the fact that Plaid refuses to acknowledge my transfers from another bank…It scares me to think that something so small is such a pain now and how much more serious this issue will be once I actually have money in my account.

Doesn’t work
I have actually never left a review for an app before but this app simply doesn’t work. I have talked to customer service multiple times. I can’t get past the log in when they try to verify it’s me by email/phone call/text because that page is just frozen. I have updated my phone, updated the app, uninstalled/reinstalled the app, turned off and on my phone, tried on my husbands phone. Nothing works. It has never worked once since I opened the account a month ago.

UI friendly!
So far it has been very easy to use and I have started to prefer it compared to the browser version. IMO they could improve slightly by reducing the number of clicks to get to various areas.

Great interest rate
As a high yield savings account, it’s one of the highest in the nation, but it’s important to note there’s not much user functionality from the app. The other super important thing to know is that Citizens Access is a branch of Citizens Bank, but it has its own separate website & app. So your login information for Citizens Access won’t work at Citizens Bank. I was confused about that for a few days. Lol

Over 2weeks trying…
I wanted to open an access savings account because of the good rate. I downloaded this app and went through the sign-up process. they use a service called plaid -which link your accounts. I chose PNC Bank to link to and I have yet to be able to deposit any money or get help from citizens Bank nobody knows anything on how to correct plaid and linking an account —it just stays pending. very frustrating I probably will be going elsewhere. I wouldn’t waste your time.

Completely dead
Updated the app today, and was looking forward to the alleged improvements to what is the barest of bare-bones banking apps. However, the app is completely dead. I can’t get any portion of the log in screen to respond, so I can’t insert my password, get help, etc. I was set up for touch login, but unsurprisingly, that doesn’t work, either. In short, this latest update is wholly nonfunctional. Hopefully, I can still access my information though the website.

Missing basic functionality
1) Tells you to use a more secure password with spaces, but password field in the mobile app does not allow spaces, so you have to reset your password without spaces. 2) Does not have mobile check deposit - you can only view the amount(s) and transfer between bank accounts.

App down for over a day
I thought this was a great idea but poorly executed by Citizens. I have had this account for 5 months and experienced outrages 4 times with one of them being over a day. Since the app is the only way to access your money I find that extremely unacceptable. Citizens needs to read this. Since you have brick and mortar stores , when these events happen . YOU NEED TO KET YOUR CUSTOMERS ACCESS THEM TO ACCESS THEIR MONEY . I am beyond done with this app and Citizens access

Bad Platform
I deposited $250 a week ago. They took the money early in the week. A week later it is still not showing up in my account. That’s not cool. If you take the money it should reflect in my Citizens Access account that very second. I’m likely going to use another platform. Oh and another thing, when you make a withdrawal, it takes at least a day. It’s not instantaneous. This is 2023. Get with the times Citizens Access Bank!!!!!!!

Interest rate good but app not that good
Interest rate for high-yield savings is good but I made a transfer and it us not showing up yet. Over one day later. Would like to update password to one picked by iPhone can’t do that. No way to even update password I think. Hard to trust the bank with your money when the app is not that good.

So Frustrating
The app is supposed to facilitate one thing: transferring money in/out from other accounts. It can’t do that. The reason is they use Plaid for account verification. Plaid has duped everyone into believing that they are a reliable, business worthy servicer of accounts when they are, in fact, incompetent. My savings account isn’t saving me anything because Plaid is holding up verifications, just as it always does.

Face ID never works, too slow
So transfers take 5 business days from external accounts, not 3 like it says online. And logging in on the app is a terrible experience. Face ID, even tho enabled doesn’t even make an attempt when you open the app, and half the time when you try to manually input everything it says invalid or account unavailable. Yet I can access on my desktop?

Warning: Do not open account, they steal your money
One day I tried to make a transfer and it did not work, the app told me to try again later. I tried again several times for 2 weeks without success. I contacted customer support and they told me they don’t want do do business with me anymore, I said ok I just want my money. The rep said she could not provide any further info and hang up.

Garbage Misleading Piece Of Junk
This whole marketing campaign intentionally mislead consumers to think that these accounts are associated with branches and regular citizen banks. They are not at all associated and if you need help all you can do is call and wait on hold. It’s pretty messed up that the brand name and market this service pretty much identically to citizens bank and then treat you like you’re the crazy one for thinking they were associated. Stupid.

No Mobile Deposit Even Though FAQs say otherwise
Your FAQs on the website and in the app direct users to deposit checks via the app but the app does not provide this functionality. Do better Citizens!!!! So the only way to make a deposit is to use another account in a different bank and then transfer money to Citizens Access or mail checks via snail mail! What a joke.

Lazy and incompetent
What is with developers and companies leaving their apps undone and broken? This app constantly has problems and has had them for months with obviously no attempt to fix them. I can’t use Face ID because the app simply doesn’t respond when I turn it on. Just turns it back off. Check deposit is completely useless. Interface and UI is abysmal. Why is it so hard to just make it work?! Especially something as important as money?! Boggles my mind. Why should I trust you with my money if your absolutely massive company can’t even be bothered to fix their user experience? It’s just dumb and lazy. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

Can even get into the app
This is the 3rd time I’ve tried this app. It never works right. I give them several months and then I re-download and try again. This time I can’t even get past the first screen that tells me they want to check my identity by texting, calling or emailing. None of the choices work. I tap them and nothing happens. Deleted again.

Touch ID enabling crashes the app
On my iPhone SE, I’m given the option to enable login by TouchID. When I try to enable it, the app freezes. For a bank app this is unacceptable. I’m a new customer and as soon as my money transfer complete, I’ll close my Citizens account and take my money elsewhere. Can’t believe such a basic features doesn’t work on a bank app - at least on some phones, I imagine.

Doesnt function well at all
The app doesn’t function well. There are to many areas that simply don’t function well when compared to other banks similar apps. For example login time is extensive to the point the user feels the login is t working. Not ability to deposit via app. The app doesn’t store settings for fingerprint login. The list goes on.

Failure to deliver service
Downloaded the app. It worked when I transferred $100 to Citizens Acess Account. Added a member to make it a joint account, transferred another $100 into it. Went in to App it froze on security screen after signing in with user name and password. Citizens told to to delete and reload application. Did this purge, reloaded, same failure. Application does not work.

Terrible app & account
There is a delay before the funds appear in the account. I wasn’t able to access my account for an extended period of time. I was unable to contact a representative. I was placed on hold twice for over 40 minutes & gave up. I’ll be closing my account. I wouldn’t recommend this app or this account to anyone.

Do not open an account with citizens access unless you’re comfortable without access to your account when you need it. I’ve had it less than 2 weeks and have had trouble logging in more often than not

Cannot add accounts to transfer $
I’ve tried about a dozen times to like another account but since they don’t give you the option to add account / routing number and only use plaid it won’t work.

Echoing all the other reviews saying the app has limited functionality. Mobile check deposits is possible on web but not installed app? Huh? Also the linking to other banks does not work…I go through the steps several times and still noting shows as being set up.

Don’t bother if you want to access your money.
Thought I’d give these guys a try, but their ACH hold policy is something out of the 80s. After transferring money in, the money is on hold for 8 days. This is simply ridiculous when other banks can clear a transfer in a day or two.

The login process is excessive. I am locked out of my account weekly or when I try to look at my balance the site states ‘having login issues’ While I enjoy the high interest rate, there are other banks that are easier to navigate.

Worth less than their website
Don’t waste your time. This citizens access stuff feels slimy and scammy. A real bank uses plaid to integrate to other real banks? No ach? A website that says to use a no-existent feature of their mobile app to make deposits? No clues as to how to get your funds out? Yikes!!!

App Does Not Work
Despite receiving an email from Citizens stating that this app was ready after over 4 years of waiting, it cannot connect to my account information. The fact that this app made it passed testing is impossible; it just doesn’t work.

Ironic that I can’t even report this issue
Can’t engage any of the 2FA options, so I came to the App Store to report a problem and funny enough, I can’t “select my recent purchase” from their list either. Would just like to access my account. That’s all.

Worst app. Not real time!
This app is horrific going to close my account. Transferred a large sum of money only to show zero and tell me I need to make a deposit to open my account. While money shows gone from my other bank….this is 12 hours later.

App does not work
Same as everyone else has stated, can’t transfer funds out of account on the app. App freezes and you have to close it completely. It’s so unacceptable that this many people are having issue, there is no resolution.
