I am a happy customer of Clearwater FCU but using the mobile app is like being transported to the bygone age of the early 2000s before UX design and high-quality apps became mainstream. This app provides basic functionality, but be prepared for a lot of rough edges and inconsistent design patterns compared to other iOS apps you’re familiar with. There’s a particularly annoying bug that logs me out frequently — even though I have Face ID enabled for the login. 🤷🏻♂️ Clearwater FCU should invest in user research and consider making strides to improve the usability of their mobile apps.
The app can only seem to handle so much before it decides to quit working. The full website works much better on a computer. I do enjoy the mobile deposit, though. Would love to see this app improved!
Can this be fixed ? I had to try to deposit a check 4 times right now. Not the first time either. Many times with issues. If you call to complain they say well just reboot it !!!!$ what ? A pain to do especially with facial recognition Oh and suddenly after using the app if you don’t state “for mobile deposit CCU “ they won’t process the check. Even though you check the box indicating “for mobile deposit” SERIOUSLY? For YEARS never had a issue. NOW in addition to checking the box. I have to write it out?? ridiculous
They “updated” their system for what seems like the 10th time since I started banking with them which not only left me in the dark on my balance for 3 days but when it finally came back online and I updated the app the “preview” of my account that shows upon opening the app displayed an incorrect available amount that caused me to spend near all of my money prematurely on a trip out of state that not only left me embarrassed at a restaurant but almost caused me to be stranded without money for a flight home. Terrible, switching banks when I get home. This is not why I bank with credit unions.
Holy crap. I used to dread opening this application. It was slow, sometimes wouldn’t load at all and it wouldn’t allow odd dollar amounts. It was frustrating. I opened the app today and it’s a total 180. You can see current and available balances, the screen loaded in 10 seconds instead of 2 minutes and the layout is much nicer. Very happy with the changes!
Pretty serviceable app! Clearwater should spend some resources improving this app though. There could be some updates to the UI and certain features, such as the support bubble being able to drag smoothly instead of static positioning only in the corners. Face ID functionality is nice. The Clearwater logo is a low resolution, so it looks pixelated.
The mobile experience with my favorite credit union just keeps getting worse! On top of being the most clunky, out-of-date banking app, now the ability to register a device to use faceID is completely broken. No matter how many times I go through the steps to register my phone, the app can’t remember. Please start over, scrap this app, start from scratch and build a simple elegant app worthy of the quality of the credit union!
Seems like many people have had poor experiences with this app. I’ve had it for a few years through several updates and it’s never been that bad for me. A little pokey, but it serves its purpose. Could be that it’s bad for some and not for others. It’s worth trying and seeing how it works for you.
I used to not have any problems with the app, but I don’t know what has happened within the last month or two, but this app has completely fallen apart and become such a pain to use. The app just acts like a shortcut to a webpage that never wants to remember you or your name or anything associated with you. Having to constantly be putting in information every time I want to look at a statement is incredibly tedious.
By “minor bug fixes and improvements” do you mean “broke the whole app”? I’m getting stuck on the loading screen and then receive a message telling me my connection is too slow. This is happening on cellular and on WiFi. I’m not having connection issues with any other app nor was I having any trouble with this app before the update. When will you create a decent mobile app?
Great app now! I can see all my accounts with one login. I can move money around and make payments in seconds. It reads my face and gets me into the app quickly. I use it all the time.
My experience has been overall good with the app. My only complaint is it has some tedious waiting times (‘wait while we fetch that for you’ or something). Just seems to be a lot of loading even in high speed WiFi.
Clearwater needs to seriously invest in designing a new mobile app. This one is riddled with bugs, the most annoying of which forgets I’m using my personal device and wipes my saved login credentials and FaceID preferences. This happens at least once a week and I need to “register” a new personal device each time. It’s incredibly annoying and slows me down.
Holy cow the app keeps getting worse. My quick view doesn’t update so it’s worthless. Logging in is all screwed up as I keep getting kicked back to the quick view screen. So the app is useless. At what point does someone high enough in the MFCU lose their job for this stuff to work? It hasn’t worked correctly ever and updates keep making it worse.
I love this app. It’s simple and quick. Very user friendly. I work out of state and use this app for basically everything and it has never let me down.
Was fine for the past year, now the application doesn't control the photo process correctly, sometimes kicking me to the phone's camera function. It also often chops the check images off, causing the credit union to cancel the transaction. Garbage. Very frustrating for this business owner.
Banks make a lot of money. They can afford to hire a professional designer and a professional software developer to build an app for them. Banks, like Missoula Federal Credit Union, continue to cut corners and bring down the entire experience for their customers. This was supposed to be an upgrade but I see nothing intuitive or easy to use about this app.
Currently live in Seattle but kept MFCU because I really like them as a bank but for the past couple of weeks this app has been extremely slow and won’t let me login to review my balance. Hope they can fix this or else I’ll have to switch to the other 1,000 millions options I have in Seattle.
The app only exists so they can say they have an app. The mobile deposit is completely unfunctional and, as such, an unintentional lie by Clearwater: They are unable to offer mobile deposit. Don’t join this bank for either of these reasons.
It was a decently working app for a while, but now it won’t even work on my phone, and I live in a different town now, meaning I have to put my checks in at atms now which takes up to 10 days to process.
Everyday it's freezing. Blank screen or just sits there loading. Very frustrating after I log out it will go to a blank screen. I have to shut my phone off to get it to reload!
Painfully SLOW, crashes, not user friendly at all, takes forever to even log in and then it crashes. Absolutely needs bug fixes and updates. At the very least add biometrics like my other banks and that would solve the log in problem! Slowest app ever used!!!!
Glad the bank spent the money to change the name and color scheme but can’t keep the app functional. Had an update a week ago and haven’t been able to access the app since.
This app is just terrible!! Get with the times and hire a professional mobile developer to make this app look and function modern. It’s so dated and hard to navigate. We’re almost in 2025 and it looks like it’s from 1900s! 😡
This app is so horrible I’m about to change banks since they probably won’t fix it. Can no longer use Face ID. Remember me function no longer works. Extremely inconvenient
I have never had any trouble with this app. You just have to know how to navigate through it. And it’s not rocket science. This is THE BEST Credit Union I’ve ever worked with!
The app is unresponsive and is unreliable. Online banking on mobile browsers is difficult to get through all the prompts, but I was able to transfer my remaining money out to one of my other banks while overseas. Next time I’m in the states I’m closing out my accounts.
In the process of closing my Wells Fargo account and completely switching to MFCU. However, this app is horrible and not at all user friendly. Incredibly slooow and looks like it’s from 10 + years ago, it’s almost enough to make me want to stay with Wells Fargo. Come on, MFCU.
Honestly pretty happy with the app until it suddenly stopped working this month. It makes me wonder what’s going on over a Clearwater, they don’t have an amazing track record with regard to online security.
The past 8 weeks has been ridiculous dealing with this app. As soon as possible I’m switching to Wells Fargo. Hate to do it but my husbands account is with them and NEVER a problem FACT the app keeps getting better Who knew 🙄
I really wish they would fix this app. It rarely loads. I used to use this app a lot, but now it basically doesn’t work. There’s no point in a mobile app if it’s inaccessible.
Cannot get this app to load and it’s vital since I bank long distance (Billings, MT). I usually end up deleting and downloading it again. Pain in the rear end! Pleeeeesee fix this app for members!
This app takes at least three days to update while the site is up to date right away. With the old app I'd transfer money and it should in my account, or someone else's right away. It's not just transfers, it's everything - transactions, deposits, everything! It's a shame the app had to change just for a new color scheme when there was nothing wrong with the old one. Oh, and how they didn't even notify us that there was a new app available. Just had to find out when the old one would not work anymore.
Last week a teller let me know that their new app could deposit checks. It's a free feature, unlike some banks that charge per check. I just tried it out, and my deposit was approved within the hour. Awesome! Login is the same as you use for the website. I haven't explored the new ATM finder yet, but it looks like they improved that too from the old app.
As a member of our credit union, you can access your accounts online any time, at home or on the go, from your desktop or mobile device. Check balances. Deposit Checks, Make transfers. Pay bills. View statements, and more.
