Addictive!

I too love playing this game. It is very addictive and thought provoking trying to think of a connection shared by four words. I also agree with the reviewer who shared her frustration about sitting through ads in order to get one more “heart.” I found paying 5 coins for a hint usually was enough to get me thinking in the right direction. I reached out to the game developers about an issue I had with the game and they responded and worked with me to fix the problem. I was so impressed that they first, responded and secondly, looked into the problem, took my suggestion and made the correction! I give the game 4 stars because it is fun, but the outstanding customer support bumps it up to 5 stars.

Arbitrary faulty reasoning

This game is fun in the beginning, but as you progress it becomes simply a vehicle for advertisements. This is accomplished by creating arbitrary correct choices where it is not about the words but the faulty thinking of the creators of the puzzle. These puzzles include multiple (more than 4) correct choices. Grouping logically correct words are indicated as incorrect by the puzzle creators. This forces the player to use “hints” which eventually are exhausted, and force the player to view ads, to try to figure out the thinking of the puzzle creators. For example, one puzzle requires matching NFL team nick names. The words provided include actual parts of the team names and there are more than 4 possible correct choices. To make matters worse some of the choices are not “nick names” at all. Another example is the puzzle with words having two words imbedded in one word. The same puzzle includes words with fruit imbedded in the word. The problem is that some of these word choices are applicable to “connecting words” for both the former and the latter intent of the puzzle maker. I suggest you don’t waste your time on this one, I am deleting it.

Love the game

Absolutely LOVE the game, but are very frustrated when there’s eight squares left. (And they’re all very similar.) I have no more coins, and then I have to sit through ad, after ad, after ad, (and they’re all pretty long) and I have no other choice but to leave the game or buy coins, which I can’t afford. It forces me to leave the game and try the next day or (maybe win a daily game so I can get a few more coins.) Why is there no option to leave the game and go to the next one, if you’ve tried so many times and just can’t get it. I would love to play this game more… But sometimes I just can’t. As you reach more levels, of course the game gets harder which I really do like… But sometimes it’s just so hard that you just can’t get it! It would be great if you could fix that.🤷🏻‍♀️👍🏼

Fun But Could Use a Couple of Tweaks

I am a new player and am enjoying the game. I did notice that there were a few repeats, and I’m only on level 65. It might also be nice if as you make a selection if it is wrong, it is indicated right away rather than after you complete all four choices to find out they’re incorrect. I like the fact that the boxes scramble if you get an incorrect answer. It makes it more challenging. being able to get a hint by only ‘spending’ five coins is a plus. I agree with what someone else wrote that I would like to make the choice as to when I move on so I could look over all of the answers. The way it is now it moves too quickly and sometimes I don’t get a chance to read the category of the last row.

Font Size

Edit - I have changed my review to 5 stars. I contacted customer support about the font size. While they are not able to change the size due to technical issues, they did change the font style. It is much easier to read now. I applaud their customer support for addressing an issue, and their timely response! I really enjoy this game. It’s challenging but you can use hints if you get stumped. My only major issue is the font size. It is so small that’s hard to read.

Game is fun but I have a few issues

First of all, there is a category that is synonyms of the word “example word here” and one of the four words will be that word. For example, I had one game where one of the categories was “synonyms for the word challenge” and challenge was on of the answers. THAT’S NOT HOW SYNONYMS WORK. Second of all, they will have categories that are so closely related that its nearly impossible to differentiate. I just played a game where it had one category that was things associated with fall and the other was holidays in November…… it was frustrating to say the least. But other than those things the game is usually fun, I’m just aggravated on those accounts.

Two quick improvements until perfection

Such a fun game! However, I would love to be able to go to the next round on my own as I often like to take in what the categories are, especially the final one. With the current model, I barely have time to register the category, let alone reflect on what I missed. I would also love to be able to skip rounds/go back to them. There are some categories (like golf) where it takes research that I have zero interest in doing, just to move on. However, I highly recommend this game as it is very clever and fun to ponder.

Love it, but…

This is a great game! The only thing that I’d like to see changed is when I get to the last 4 tiles, I don’t get a chance to look them over, and see why I couldn’t figure out the category. I wish there was a button for me to click, so I could decide for myself when to move on. Other than that, I love the game! Thank you for your friendly reply, in which you stated that there was now more time to look over the finished puzzle, but if that is true, it just isn’t enough time. Why not make a ‘go back’ button? That would solve the problem!

Fun-ish, but many groupings questionable

There are frequently categories like “words that rhyme with ‘xxxx’” or “synonyms of ‘xxxx’” where ‘xxxx’ is one of the words in the grid. Like, does ‘puzzle’ rhyme with ‘puzzle’? Or is ‘trivia’ a synonym for ‘trivia’? I find these frustrating in a way that detracts from gameplay. There was also a category about vegetables where half the words in the group were fruits 🤷 and another with words from different languages that didn’t use the proper characters (ie ‘n’ rather than ‘ñ’). Then there was the puzzle with two categories of Christmas-related items. This one felt like. Trap to keep me watching ads since the difference between groups wasn’t enough to solve it except by random luck, even with hints. And why, oh why, must the text be so microscopic?

Nice

I really like this kind of word play. Makes me think. I also appreciate that most ads are the quick easy ones, just click on the double arrow if it appears and the x comes up quickly. The only ones that I don’t appreciate are the 30 second plus 5 second ones that come up when I am most frustrated because I ran out of lives and have to play an ad to get one. I could do without those! 🤣 Thanks for a new way of playing a word game!

Good game!

I play this game daily and really enjoy it. The only time I had a problem was on Valentine’s Day when there was a “mess up” with the puzzle itself. I emailed for help and got an incredibly speedy reply (which is amazing these days and much appreciated!!) I also got an apology (which was icing on the cake,unnecessary, but also appreciated!!) Today, the developers gave us extra coins to make up for the mess up. That was really nice! I think it’s acceptable to pretend that my “winning streak” has not been interrupted, right?! 🤣

So so

There are frequently errors. For example, this morning, one of the tiles was Morays. I finally had to use one of the clues to tell me what the category was. It was social norms, which means it should’ve been spelled Mores. It’s also annoying that often the link is something like words spelled in alphabetical order. This is particularly annoying when there are two batches of them in the same puzzle. the “lives” don’t reset with time. So if you are stuck and run out of them, the only way to move forward is to buy more with stars, and if you run out of stars, you have to pay money to buy them. lastly, the experience points mean nothing.

When connections makes me feel stupid I play this game

A much more laid back version of the NYT Connections game. I feel way less dumb playing this one, probably because you can try again even if you run out of lives. My favorite but is that you can get extra coins by sharing the game, so it’s easy to rack up coins to ensure you always have the chance to buy more lives. Definitely my current favorite word game.

Fun, but has glitches

This is fun but it would be even better if some glitches were ironed out. After spending coins to get 1 life back and solving the puzzle and moving on to a few more - when I reopened the app to play later, it had sent me back to the one I had to spend coins on and had it unsolved with no lives left. Other times, I’ll spend coins to get one more life but not play right then and there. When I come back to it later, my coins are gone and so is the life I hadn’t used yet. It’s frustrating. I may just play the daily puzzle and let that suffice so I don’t lose so many coins unnecessarily.

Fun….with 2 changes

Fun game and play it daily. Like that it’s more thought provoking than many other games. Needs two small fixes to improve the experience: 1) allow users to give up and see the solution to a level they can’t solve. 2) allow the user to trigger the advancement to the next level. Currently, this happens automatically and very quickly once you solve the round. I often want to look at the last category and answers before I move on. Thanks!

Give us more help !!

I like the game but it’s not fair that they don’t even give us a clue as to what each row should be !! We just have to guess randomly from 16 tiles and pray you get them right or you’ll lose the 3 lives they give you! Then u have to keep watching ads to get 1 more but still no hint ! Don’t have enough coins to buy hints and I so rethink we should have to spend our money on that !! The game developers need to give us clues to the rows, how y’all make a game but make it so hard to play! Will probably delete and try again after a few newer versions come out and fix these issues !

Great Brain Game … Revised…

Update: After writing the review below…the developer emailed me and shared some changes … and now…. Easy to close the app…start again…and you don’t have to watch the long video. Changed from 4 stars to 5. Thank you!! Really super brain game but when you run out of lives the video to watch is ridiculously long and repetitive and a waste of time. I silence the video and ignore it. Makes a great game boring!

Commercial after commercial

I really like this game, but the downfall is that you don’t earn that many points if you win, no way to pick up extra points by spinning a wheel or something. If you run out of points…you are stuck like chuck until you figure out the puzzle. Super annoying and I can only take so many commercials in order to get another chance to guess. Not good. Not user friendly at all. So far I’m hanging in there, but I am not sure how long I can keep watching 60 second commercials in order to keep playing when I run out of points.

Getting too hard, not as fun anymore

When my wife and I first started playing this, we really enjoyed it. While we would struggle occasionally and have to look things up to get the right answer, it was very achievable and very fun. It has been getting increasingly harder to the point where we can’t play a single puzzle without spending extra time, googling words, using clues, or just making multiple wrong guesses. Make it easier, or give the option of various levels of difficulty.

Love playing, very addictive

This is a fun game and I have spent hours playing it. That being said, there needs to be new categories as I am seeing lots of overlap. I would also like something to spend the 14,600+ xp I have earned. Yes I have played a lot! Maybe I am missing what the xp is for? Recommend this game, it is great to pull out when you have some free time and enjoy learning new things!

Great Balance, no ads yet

I got through the first 10 levels and haven’t had an ad. Good job so far of making some of them a little hard but for the most part you feel like you’re crushing it in the beginning. I believe that’s important to getting into a game.

Addicting!

It's a fun game and sometimes it stumps you, but overall it's not super challenging. I never understand when you get XP for a game and can't use it for anything other than your leveling up, you should be able to trade it in for points or something so you can use your clues and hints more often. Otherwise it's pretty fun! Could have done without the gender connection! Male and female is all there is! Shmeh...😒wish I could remove a star!

I like game but the time in between games takes too long.

I like the game, however, the time in between rounds during which a graphic pops up and awards you coins takes way tooooo long. That takes much for time than playing the actual game. Very frustrating!!! The game should be the focus not having to wait while a chest pops up and coins fly out and are added to your total. It takes seconds to play most rounds, then you sit and wait much longer for the coins/points to be doled out. I feel like I’m playing a game from long ago when things weren’t as polished.

A good game but…

Overall, this is a fun way to kill some time and I don’t think the ads are overwhelming; you can skip through the ads between levels after only a few seconds. If you’re out of lives, then you have to watch the entire ad, so not terrible. While this game requires some thought, I’ve found it can get a little repetitive. One would think that upon reaching higher levels, the game would be harder, but it’s not. My other issue is with errors regarding the labeling of the categories. Quite a few times, a grouping that was called “synonyms for stress”, contained 4 words related to “dessert”. Errors like these have occurred several times. The creators also seem to have a strange obsession with the song “Waltzing Matilda”. Don’t know what that’s all about…

A good percentage of the alleged symptoms are ridiculously obtuse.

Several times, I spent more than 30 minutes trying to discover the common factor. I ended up watching 16 ads plus buying clues to solve the puzzle. The connect of two solutions were ridiculous. Realistically, the game needs to let the player move on without solving the puzzle. I definitely wouldn’t recommend the game until the game addresses the ability to move onto the next puzzle without solving the first. I would recommend that after five or six mistakes the next puzzle should begin.

Fun, but…

Sometimes a puzzle will generate that’s almost impossible to just reason out, e.g. they’re all just numbers. Once your lives are exhausted there’s no option to reset the puzzle or skip it. The only option is to spend coins (eventually real money) to keep trying. So when it gets to that point I’ll have to just uninstall it. Update: it’s happened. I literally cannot progress further without spending money or watching ads. Even after paying to get rid of the ads. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Forces you to watch an ad or use coins

Like the game, but did not like the fact that I couldn’t give up on a game after losing my three lives. Instead, it forced me to either watch an ad or use tokens to buy another life. After watching ad and still getting answer incorrect, it forced another choice of ad or tokens. Why can’t I just give up on that game board. I don’t have an issue watching the ads, but I should be able to decide to move on from that game board. Uninstalled game.

Commercials

Your games overall are very good…..however being forced to watch hundreds of commercials is extremely annoying! Sometimes 3 or 4 at a time right after each other. I have come very close to stop playing this word game because of that. If I want to play any of those games I will, I don’t need to see them every 30 seconds

Do it on my own

Love the challenge but sometimes I want the option to give up and move on. I too, would like to move forward to the next level at my pace. I want to have time to read the results and study them. Also, when the words in the boxes are longer they are so small, difficult to read. Overall great game!

Great game but needs some tweaks

I downloaded this app as it was similar to the New York Times Connections. Unfortunately, if you have no idea of a connection in a round there is no way to just lose the round that I can see. You must use up coins or watch a video just to painfully try to get out of that puzzle. Also, if you have made a guess and guess the same thing again you lose a life. It does not give you any notice that you’ve already made that attempt.

Fun Game, But …

I enjoy this game a lot. It really keeps the mind sharp looking for the connections and thinking of variations. One thing I would ask, however. For those of us with vision issues, could you find a way either to generally make the font larger or make it stand out more? I find myself getting headaches from trying to read some of the tiles. Thanks!

That being said. I gave it a four. It would be nice if. — When you get the last 2 that it pauses for 10 more seconds longer. To have time to see and read the last 2 titles of what it was. It disappears to fast!!! Be able to have a enuf time to read them. And celebrate in your mind. You got it!! lol

Please Use Larger Fonts

Really enjoy this game and can play for longer than I should. Requesting that the font be changed back to the larger basic text. It’s currently in a bold and cramped font that is difficult to read. Words look like they are floating in the boxes they are so small.

Great game!

Love this game! And the creators are actually responsive—I found myself stuck on a round in which two of the categories were indistinguishable from each other, and someone actually got back to me on the issue and fixed it. Amazing!

Error has stopped progress

One puzzle presented similar words as those of a friend, however matches were impossible due to errors. In checking with the friend there were two missing words that would have provided the match on my board. These different words never matched no matter how many times I watched ads or used points to make matches. This ended with a dead end which still impedes any further progress.

Manipulative tricks now

I loved the game for many months, but now that I amassed lots of bonus points and done over 600 rounds or levels or whatever, they’ve been throwing tricks in where words will fit two categories causing player to have to watch ad after ad after ad. I’d have gladly paid for the game so as not to have to watch the ads. Time to find a new favorite game to do before bed.

Great game - and educational!

Based on how many hours I’ve put into this game, and I’m not a big game player, it has to be good! The categories are diverse, and often I have no idea but have to use process of elimination and logic to home in on a solution. But I now know more about such things as movies with certain stars, languages in India and China, Cy Young award winners, Olympic medalists, famous chefs, and more.

Poor font choices (letters).

The game can be fun if you’re able to actually read the words. Most of the font sizes are way too small to see clearly. Plus, when you finally finish a puzzle, it doesn’t stay on the screen long enough for you to see the last solution. Finally, when you take a clue, it’s printed in faded orange ink color which is also vary hard to see.

Frustrating at times

There are some category repetitions but there but overall I like it. That is…until I got to level 385. I was able to solve 2 categories easily enough but the last two are factually impossible. I have tried every combination multiple times and continue to be marked wrong. Please fix this otherwise I’ll be deleting this game.

Screens

I love this game! My issue is the multiple fonts. Some are large and bold, others are small and hard to read. It would be nice if they were consistently large and bold. Thanks for your attention to this recommendation.

Stuck

This game is fun until you get to a level where 8 words have a clear connection (Christmas) and the only way to narrow it down is to use up lives. If you don’t have enough coins, you can’t buy hints. The hints I used were useless since it told me the common connection I already knew (Christmas). You shouldn’t be forced to buy coins. Game will sadly be deleted.

Lack of options

Just downloaded the game, and am stuck in a puzzle I just can’t solve. I’m not mad that I can’t solve it, but that I don’t have the option to give up with a penalty if necessary, and move on to another puzzle. I’m not going to keep wasting time looking at ads for another life indefinitely. This could have been fun and challenging, but where’s the FUN in being trapped on a level with no other way out? Deleting.

Let us lose, we’ll be okay…

The game is fun unless the subject is so specific that someone unfamiliar with it can’t win without googling all the options. It’s okay to let me lose a turn if I can’t complete the puzzle. Buying more guesses won’t help me understand the connection between auto parts (or some obscure subject) so I won’t. If I lose but still advance to the next puzzle, I might be inclined to buy more turns.

Love this game

The only word game I enjoy because of the thought process that is used to solve each puzzle. Helps me a lot on keeping my brain active and improving my thought process. It’s educational and lots of fun. I recommend it!

A bit too easy…

This game is fun, kind of like the New York Times “Connections” game… but not as challenging. They repeat a lot of categories, and one puzzle had 3 different anagram categories. They need to step up the challenge a bit… winning every time with no loss of lives/points gets boring quickly.

Too Hard

Some of the “connections” are way too obscure for the average person. Also giving only 3 points for completing a level is ridiculous when it takes a minimum of 5 pts to get a hint. If you use just one hint per game you go backwards. That’s not a challenge or fun. It’s discouraging!! I go days without playing it because you’ve made it a very low reward for too much effort.

Fun but challenging

Most of the time the patterns are identifiable but sometimes the associations are too far out. The hardest puzzles were when foreign language was used and the Star Trek puzzle. I had to rely on assistance from google search and then it was still extremely difficult.

STUMPED and can’t move on!

I’ve been stuck on a level for 2 days now. I have half of it solved, and have 8 words left, 1 category is pizza and 1 is sauce. More than one word overlaps into 2 categories (ex. Pomodoro) and I can’t seem to solve this. There should be an option to watch ads for hints, not just lives (one life at a time is also frustrating!)

Frustrated

My big complaint is that if you use all your lives you can't take the loss and move to the next puzzle. You have to either buy more lives or keep watching adds until you get it right. Buy lives is not going to help if you don't know the answer.
