Love the service, not the app
First and foremost, the service has been great and generally works as expected. The app, however, struggles. Lately I’ve been getting sensor push notifications for doors opening and closing that aren’t actually happening in my house. I log in to the app to look at the activity and it’s not listed and the same lack of activity is reflected in the base station’s log (it’s ONLY showing up in the push notifications and isn’t actually happening - I even got a push for a sensor name that doesn’t exist in my home - is my account somehow tied to another?). We were promised an awesome overhaul of the app a couple of years ago - is that still happening? If so, any way I can be added to the alpha/beta (I’d love to try it out!)

Terrible customer support
Have been contacting cove support for quite some time. I was hoping to get a system that would let me know who was coming and going from my business. It says who disarms it, but it’s only my name when it’s armed so I never know who’s the last person there. Contacted support. Was given the run around for about 4 months. Then was told they can’t help me and gave me a number to contact to cancel my service. Their service support has not authority to help you so customer service falls flat. None of their service team even care to help. Now all of a sudden my system has stopped entirely giving me notifications of who’s arming and disarming the system entirely. I doubt anyone is going to be able to help me so I’m looking at other options. I’m so disappointed I wasted so much time and money on this company. I looked up the CEO on linked in and he has set himself set up to be completely inaccessible to anyone using his service. It is not the way to do business now. CEOs of companies that make themselves available are extremely impressive. This guy is hiding because he knows Cove is lacking and there many unhappy clients. Very disappointed. Would never recommend cove to anyone.

Good but not great
I’m likening cove so far. The app does need a major rework. It’s needs to be faster and less laggy. Camera load times should not take forever since the end user should be able to see the feed almost instantaneously. Also, there’s a notification marker that has not gone away indicating that I have “1” notification when in fact I do not. I’ve clicked every single menu option to try and get rid of it and even uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no success. All in all, the security system is great where the app is really bogging down the true success of the overall security system. So much potential for improvement. I only hope that the CX, UX and dev teams are looking at these reviews to ensure that the product meets the end users needs. Also, the external eufy cameras should be directly built into the app by now. More automatio/routine features would be nice so that we can program certain things to work without setting alarms off all the time. Anywho, giving the app a solid 3/5 until improvements are made.

Exactly What I Wanted
I almost let the negative reviews talk me out of purchasing this security system, and I am SO glad I didn’t. I never write reviews, but Cove deserves some love on this one! The most important thing to me is being able to control the system from my phone so I don’t scare my dog coming home (that alarm is LOUD) and response time from the security team. Cove provides you with the phone number for their security team so that you can add them to your contacts in case you have spam blocker. We had one alarm so far (luckily, a benign one due to miscommunication with our landscaper). The security team called at 2 minutes on the dot after the alarm was triggered, they dispatched the police to thoroughly check the property, and I was getting a response call within 20 minutes. Cove has everything I was looking for: easy DIY installation, easy to use app, reliability, quick response, and peace of mind.

Non-functional System
I am on my third panel, which means I have reconnected my 19 sensors 3 times over the past 2 years. I know how to do a soft and a hard reset. I can disconnect the battery terminal. As a customer, I shouldn’t be doing any of that. Add in the fact that the app does not work with the panel most of the time, and it’s largely a waste of money. About 4 months out of the year, things work as they should - set routines (arming house at night, disarming in the morning) will work. The panel does not automatically adjust for daylight savings time, so the app and the panel do not sync and trigger the routine. It takes customer support weeks to correct the time on the panel. Now, I do not have a true activity report showing which sensors have been triggered - I used to have that ability. So, if you’re like me and travel a fair amount, have people in and out of your house, and want to be sure no one has broken in or burned it down, Cove is not the system for you. I’m thousands of dollars into it at this point and looking at other options.

App isn’t reliable
I’ve had this system for about a month, it isn’t bad it “does the job” I guess, but 8/10 times the app stops working for me…kicks me out, says it’s armed when it’s not, says it’s disarmed when it’s not or cannot connect to my system at all. This caused a false alarm on our home the other day because of the miscommunication with the app to the actual System. If the glitches can be worked out then this has a lot of potential but to have so many issues and only a month into service has me feeling slightly concerned I invested in the wrong product. I also have an indoor camera that never works, and when it does it is insanely slow running so it is unplugged and useless really. I wasn’t looking to spend a fortune on a mobile system and the price on cove sold me but I wish it was a little more consistent with efficiency. Pro-Set up was insanely easy but the app temperament really has me frustrated especially because the app is what we rely on when we aren’t there to “watch our home”

Better than expected for sure
These reviews on here are not accurate. The reviews made me nervous that I bought this whole system! I hate that. This system is excellent, I bought good internet so I have had no connectivity issues at all. I think a lot of people don’t have high enough mbps for all the WiFi connected things in their house. Also, the indoor and outdoor cameras/doorbells are great, and have a clear image, the door sensors work every time. I really appreciate that it’s not alerting me anytime someone walks by the doors. And it’s SUPER loud when the alarm does go off. Lol bad guys would leave just to escape that high decibel! Im excited to get more security supplies for my home. It’s just so cool, living in the future over here! No complaints.

If you’d like to continue throwing $ down the drain…
…install this system! 100% agreed with all other reviews. Hence this is the first app review I write. I’m the one to blame however that month after month I continue paying for this system; the app never works although I pay the extra fee for this function specifically. I attempt to activate the alarm from the app while sitting 2 feet away from the panel and the Wi-Fi router and it still doesn’t function due to “network connection error.” The worst is when you attempt it multiple times, it then activates 30 minutes later when you think it didn’t go through, which can trigger the alarm. Completely unreliable. After almost 2 years with the system, we’ve actually had it armed less then 10 times because I never know if it will function or trigger false alarms when I don’t know it’s on. Why is this company even in existance?

Unreliable Security Company & A Rip Off
From the very beginning, my Cove monitor kept losing its signal and the company made promises they never kept. Customer service is horrible and when I wrote a negative review of their services on their Facebook page, they banned me from their page! Imagine banning a paying customer instead of just trying to resolve the issue. One customer service rep told me that if I did not stop calling them with complaints every time my service went out, he would cancel my account AND not refund me what I had paid for my equipment, as well as force me to finish paying it off! I even filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs to which they lied to CA and told them the matter had been resolved. Do not trust a company that has not updated their unreliable app in over a year, that tells you all you need to know about this rip off company.

Service is acceptable; App is sub-par
The service is acceptable, but the app has little to no functionality. According the the website, one should be able to disable/bypass sensors from the app. The smart home (Google/Alexa) integration that comes with “Premium” monitoring (also requires to use the app) is non functional. There is even a disclaimer that says the following: “ We are in the development phase of implementing full home automation for Cove customers, so currently we cannot offer all the services displayed on the App Store or Google Play store.” That was buried deep in the website. Im short, this means that the Google integration is non-existent. TL;DR - they’re good people, but they are over-selling their capability. Pieces are ok. Service is above average. Use ability is lacking. As of this review, you’re better off spending the money on simpli-safe and getting a fully operational AND user friendly system.

Terrible App
I realized I was initially paying for this app and the Kami app but had always used Kami to view my camera action. Decided to drop Kami and stick with one app, cove, which was less inexpensive anyway. Well, you get what you pay for. The time it takes my apps to refresh when I get an alert is ridiculous. If there was danger, the act would be committed and the perpetrator out of sight. Same settings with Kami but this ones drains the battery so fast. This is going to be the third time I have to charge this year. I only had to charge one time in a year with Kami. Also, the company started using different cameras and software and has no plan to switch me over without me having to purchase a new set of cameras. You just cannot do as many things with this app and doesn’t work as well as it should or could.

Functional, but lacking
Update: the latest update completely broke the app and has locked me out. I’m now paying $120/year for a broken app. I’ll gladly change this rating if they get their act together. They pretty obviously have no QA department. The app does the most important things, it lets me remotely monitor, arm and disarm my system. In this regard I’ve had very few issues. As an app, though, and for an extra $10/month (think about that.. I’m paying $120/year for this mediocre app), I do expect much more. I would expect to be able to manage my system from the app almost the same as from the panel. If the app was free I would give it more stars, but as it is I’m paying significantly extra on my Cove subscription for the ability to use this app, and I’m not sure that the value is anywhere close to what it should be.

Stick with better camera systems
Worst security camera system ever. They use 3rd party equipment. Outdoor cameras never work. Won’t connect properly. Constant customer support tickets created, I’ve stockpiled 3 of their “replacements”. Excuses are regarding this app that shows the outdoor camera as offline. If you have to deal with this company, you too can become a customer support tech just about anywhere. Because you’ll be well-versed in the same cookie-cutter responses that every tech customer support gives, from Apple to Cove. “Have you tried deleting and re installing?” “Have you reset the __?” “Was that a soft or hard reset?” “Have you restarted the ____?” “Is the firmware updated?” “What software version are you using?” “Let’s try one more time!” Don’t waste your time. The product is cheap and you get what you don’t pay for.

Quality Home Security
The security system itself is Amazing! Like with any App there's going to have a few bugs that need tweaking, not everything will be perfect, so don’t let the negative reviews deter you from purchasing this home security system. Another thing I love is the promptness of customer service even if it’s a false alarm (better safe than sorry). This system is affordable and very easy to set up, unlike other companies that charge an arm and a leg for everything! If you have any doubts, don’t you will be satisfied with your purchase.

Alarm is ok, App is not ready for prime time
Went with Cove on recommendation, and wished I hadn’t. While the alarm works ok (there are issues that others talk about); the app just plain doesn’t work close to well. Won’t connect, won’t disarm, shows armed or disarmed when in fact it is something else. Customer service is as expected from a internet company. Hung up on them several times after trying to explain the situation. I refuse to blame it on a language issue; they don’t know their product. Not sure how much longer I will use.

Very much regretting my purchase
This review is just about the terrible app, not even all the bugs I’ve encountered with the system. Good thing I have 60 days to return. Constantly boots me out of the app and takes a full minute to load, even on wifi, which means I’m essentially locked out of my house until it decides to cooperate and I can log in to disarm. Says that it’s armed when it’s not and visa versa, so unless I’m home and can see the panel, I never know which it is. Constantly says my doors are open when they’re not, and has a nagging notification badge that won’t go away even though I’ve checked everything in the app and uninstalled and reinstalled. Can’t even report bug issues properly. Don’t waste your time.

Great system for us investors
We’ve been using Cove for years now. We do have the basic system & love it. We purchased 1 systems & put it on every home while it gets rented out. The availability to just move it from one property to the next is priceless. After we set it up in a new property, we call Cove with the new address & they know exactly who to call for emergencies. My only thing with Cove is that I can not turn on & off the system thru the app. Hopefully this will be added soon.

ok but needs some features
The app works well enough. You can view cameras in real time, arm/disarm the system, and do some maintenance. Some of the deeper features are only available on the Cove console itself, which brings me to my complaints/suggestions: the app and the console have completely different UX and workflows. In particular, i really would like the same "night mode" option (instant alarm, no delay) that the console has, in the iOS app. I also would love to see Shortcuts/Siri integration so we could arm/disarm the system with voice control.

New Customer - Huge Red Flags!!!!!
24 hrs in to my service and have already ran in to two critical issues. 1. The Outdoor Cameras - they have not been picking up motion thus not recording to the cloud unless I put my face right in front of the camera. Tried to play with the sensitivity and turn on the people detection setting but they will not save. Upon talking to customer service it turns out the people detection is actually a capability that the camera and software do not have even though it’s advertised. 2. Have not been able to log in to the app for 7-8 hours. Spoke to customer service agent based overseas again today and they claimed it was a firmware update and it wouldn’t be up again for another 24 hours. It’s troubling that a security is ok with having some of their core services down for this extended period of time with out warning their customers of service interruptions. This does not appear to be a customer service based company that is truly concerned with home security. Will give it 24 more hours to see improvements before testing the money back guarantee

Poor connectivity and interface
While I appreciate the cost, the Cove cameras are regularly "down" while our internet is working just fine. For the first year, one of our CO2 sensors regularly alerted despite there being no issue, almost getting the fire department dispatched. The app constantly (since installing) has a notification as if something is happening/has happened, but no, that just never goes away. Every time you open the app, it acts as if you have either enable or disable your alarm. For the price their service is passable, but the app is terrible. Hire a decent programmer, Cove. Also, why is it my $5 a month credit didn't count for over half a year?

App does not work
I’ve had Cove Security for the last 3 years and have had no issues. However, over the last month or so, my app has stopped working. It constantly gives me errors, tells me my doors are open (they are closed), and refuses to allow me to set my alarm. It always tells me that there is “no connection,” despite the fact that my panel works fine. Has this company given up on their app? Other reviews seem to signal that this is a widespread issue. Why has it not been addressed? I, along with Cove’s other customers, require a fully-functioning security system. Please fix this non-functional app.

If I could leave 0 I would
App is terrible, cameras won’t even connect anymore. I contacted support, they sent me new equipment which isn’t even supported in this app. They have a new app, cove connect, but want you to upgrade your system with all new equipment in order to use it. I’ve only had mine for a little over a year, it’s ridiculous that I might have to switch to a whole new company and buy even MORE equipment just to get the features I was supposed to get with cove. I will not be paying to upgrade every piece of equipment I own to stick with cove and get the use of the connect app. Super disappointed in this company.

Awful app
Nearly every day we have multiple issues with this app. Sometimes we can’t even login and other times we can’t arm/disarm from the app. In addition to that, the outdoor cameras are almost useless. The only reason we chose Cove over simplisafe was because Cove’s outdoor cameras can withstand AZ heat. That was a huge mistake. I stood in front of our outside cameras for minutes while waving my arms (sensitivity on max setting) and it would not recognize motion. Ended up returning the cameras and purchased Ring cameras instead. We deeply regret not purchasing simplisafe over cove. At this point it’s too much of a hassle to return everything. Hopefully Cove improves.

Lags and loads forever
This app could be good if it would perform better. The menu lags when selecting cameras or any devices. Just today it was telling me that there is movement in the living room but doesn’t let me access the app and doesn’t show me a recording. It spammed notifications for an hour just glitched out. No evidence of movement or anything. Please fix this app. We pay for the service, I would like a better experience or I will consider moving companies soon.

Save your money….
The cameras may or may not pick up people passing in front of them. The sensors may or may not pick up that you’ve opened/closed a window or door. Which makes it very, very irritating to set your alarm because you then have to override the open sensor to set your alarm- that negates the purpose of the alarm since you obviously want that door/window monitored if you placed a sensor on it. The key ring may or may not work to set or disarm your alarm which makes for a fun game of will you or won’t you set off the alarm when you come home and open your door??!?! Who knows! Not you because you can’t trust it to work right every time. The glass break monitors and the fire alarm sensor also have played games of “we’re monitoring….oops no we’re not, we’re offline with no explainable reason”. So, you might be safe when you go to sleep at night and set your alarm….but maybe not. Who knows. Not you and not Cove.

App doesn’t work
Worst security system app ever! App is super slow and stops working for long periods of time. I received a few notifications last night from my doorbell camera that someone was at the door and I ended up having to walk to the door to see of there was a burglar because the app was not opening. To be able to check a camera it takes a long time to load; which means that by the time the burglar is already inside the house is when you will be able to see the live video from the camera. Fix the app please!!!!!

Not the best app
App is pretty bad, keep hoping it will improve. If you call be ready to uninstall the app and reload. Camera drops connection fairly often, lately it keeps sending me motion alerts when nothing is there. I am not a household with kids and all kinds of devices connected to Wi-Fi so no reason the app should be slow. My connection is good strong with good speed the app & system seem to have a communication disconnect. If you only try 1 or 2 star it will keep telling you the nickname has been used. Basically they have it set for no bad reviews

Very disappointing
This app and associated hardware runs poorly, is buggy, and the Cove tech support is very weak. I’ve added SIM cards and each camera they still record only six second bursts. I can’t hear the doorbell through my phone, also it’s incompatible with my wired doorbell. They take orders for parts not in stock without telling the customer. I can’t name the sensors as I like and must accept the Cove naming. There is no comprehensive user’s manual, just simplistic pamphlets. I don’t think they care or will contact me after reading this to help. In total, a very poor system and company. Avoid.

App is terrible
On the occasion that the app works it’s so frustrating and glitchey. Camera setting don’t work when setting an activity zone, it just won’t record anything. When I do want to pull up a recording in the cloud the video loads for about a second then just freezes so I can’t actually see the recording (yes my internet connection is great). App freezes all the time and is terrible. This is unacceptable coming from a “security” company where it’s so important to have this information easily accessible for the safety of my family.

Disappointing
At first I was excited to use this system. It’s a bare bones type of system. The app is slow. You get an alert from on of the cameras. Hit the pop up alert that launches the app. By the time the app loads whatever triggered it is long gone. So very frustrating. If you just want to go check the cameras, it takes forever to load a camera. You can’t remote lock or unlock doors and it is not compatible with ring. I switched from Vinint which I had for almost 20 years, kinda which I had just left well enough alone.

Cove Outdoor Cameras Improving
The new “Generation 2” outdoor camera functions much better than “Generation 1.” The new version appears make a stronger Wi-Fi connection, and has new “firmware for recognizing people & movement. Cove has not been clear in its literature about the amount of Wi-Fi “Bandwith,” both upload and download, which is necessary to properly operate their cameras. I needed more bandwidth to properly connect several cameras.

Worst F…..g App I have ever seen
I’m going to send back the whole system and get a refund because the app is the most important part of the system and I can never login. I have never seen an app that constantly gives you an error message and you have uninstall it to possibly get in. I’m want to throw my phone against the wall. It’s sooooooooooo bad. I regret buying this system. And it’s not easy to login in on the website. I can’t find the correct link when I search for Cove Security System Login. The search results won’t come up. Advice to everyone. Don’t buy Cove.

No video
No one can explain why the cameras on my system haven’t worked for weeks, so I finally decided to call it a loss and just cancel my membership. I told him the cameras weren’t working and the representative said “yeah that’s been an issue lately.“ He didn’t offer any solutions. And then instead of canceling my monthly subscription immediately, he said I had to pay for an additional month. I’m extremely disappointed. I spent a lot of money to get this system, and it has been extremely frustrating and now it is useless.

Terrible
I don’t understand how this company can stay in business. I purchased a system and it’s been a nightmare from the start. Sensors lose connection to the panel. The panel mysteriously restarts itself over and over. They promised to send me a new panel one 7 weeks ago and nothing. Given the issues I’ve read with others I have no confidence this will solve anything. In addition this app is terrible and has not had an update in well over a year. If you are looking for a pretty bulletproof alarm option this is not your solution.

App doesn’t notify us/resets Detection zones
This app worked great…initially. After 6 months, the app stopped notifying us when someone rang the Kami doorbell, when sensors were open or closed and when there was any activity on our cameras. This is the main point of the application for us! To get notification of activity at our home when we are and aren’t home. We have teenage children and this gives us piece of mind when they are home alone. We are reconsidering COVE services based on the inadequacies of the app. The system is basically useless.

Not Worth the Risk
Similar to a majority of the comments here, my panel does not remain connected to Verizon cell tower. Requires reset daily if not more often. Frankly, this defeats the purpose of a security system. Called tech support perhaps 30 times and had the system less than a year. I canceled my subscription after receiving a replacement panel with no improvement. They still continue to try to bill me after canceling. Any rating above 1 star is likely their employees trying to raise their score. Cove- You guys are DANGEROUS and should not be in the security business.

Waste of money
The worst alarm system I have ever had. Unreliable and faulty. The app doesn’t allow me to arm or disarm, it says I’m not allowed access. I changed the settings to allow myself access to my home in the settings and nothing changes. I also set up recurring arm stay, and it just decided to stop arming when it worked fine for a few weeks! The app and the system are both not user friendly, and significantly behind on technology. I am very disappointed I spent this money on an alarm system with cove.

Great Security System, Flawed App
Love the security system. It works very well. The touchscreen panel looks pretty. No problem there. But, the app really needs a huge update so badly. It’s too simple and intermittent. Perhaps the app dev could redo the app interface. Add widgets where we can arm and disarm from the homescreen. I know HomeKit and Siri integration take a lot of work for the dev, but it’s a plus point if they can add that to the system. I still recommend the system if you can get past the app limitation.

Nice people. But…
The support staff are plentiful and try to hel with problems. But the underlying product is weak. The problems are that the software, including g the app, “crap out” frequently. That is, it says you are offline. The other problem is that you cannot name users; they are just User1, User2, etc. Another problem is there is no log of which user armed or disarmed the system. This product is just not ready for any serious use. Keep working guys. I have given the tech support personnel my suggestions. I think the developers are AWOL.

Love Cove, but
Desperately needs an app refresh. I’m not getting notifications I should be receiving such as camera activity and area activity; the app times out while changing the settings; the camera takes way too long to load. This is our home safety we’re talking about here—hire a dedicated app team to work on continuous upgrades (being able to arm no entry delay from my phone would be nice) and improvements to the app.

Cove System is Great, the App is Not
Long story short: we have enjoyed our cove system so far despite lacking some functions and/or devices and/or smart connectivity.. all in all very happy with it.. but the Cove App is VERY lacking. It lags, it has app badges that cannot be removed, the camera feeds I have to tap a few times to load the feed, sometimes the app flat out won’t work… BUT the response and customer care team are great and I hope to continue using Cove and return to update this review to a better rating.

Install is very easy but app is garbage
We bought this system to manage a distant property. When we are on site it works fine and has dispatched alarms as intended. However when we are remote, the app almost always fails. It will not allow us to arm or disarm,etc. it’s says no network connection. Very difficult to do hours away. The fact it works when we are there means it does communicate. It is just the app that completely defeats the purpose of this system for remote management.

Cameras still not working
For an extremely simple app with minimal features, you would think fixing the camera feature would be pretty easy. It’s been down for well over a week. Customer service only said they were aware and to try it again in 24 hours…that was 4 days ago. Our entire Cove system has been subpar. Looking into other security options, this is not worth the money or hassle of trying to fix it all the time.

Installation was a breeze. Door cam, exterior cam and an interior. Door window sensors, glass breaking and motion sensor. All worked well until I asked Cove to add my wife access with her own number. I lost all video. Sign out sign in, delete the app reinstall the app. Multiple calls. My wife has video but I don’t. “Take your phone and reinstall the QR codes with your phone.” This is the phone I installed everything with. The call takers are pleasant people but don’t provide results. Remember 60 days! It’s going back!

Terrible customer service - Broken panel
The equipment is actually good overall. The customer service it’s a nightmare. Their team identified my touch panel as bad one and send me to another team to get it replace. However, that teams sends me back to the same team to more testing and it never ends. They do a great effort to find excuses not to replace my panel. They clearly cant make it work and yet state their system said its ok. They are by far the worse team to work. Apparently they dont have supervisors available…

Great system
I’ve had my system for about three years now and I love it. I was able to name all my sensors and cameras. I have dealt with customer service and never had a problem, they’ve always been courteous to me and answered all my questions. Great system for the price.

Cove system ok, app buggy and unreliable
Over a two week duration I’ve spent 20+ hours on the phone with support. I’m on my 3rd control panel - and I have a 4th coming. The sensors communicate with the panel well, and I received one actual flood alarm when a p-trap under a sink leaked. The app is horrible and buggy. Unable to arm disarm from the app about 90% of the time. The cameras are disconnected from the app about 50% of the time. Takes multiple app force close and reopen to make them work. Camera notifications are not configurable and very buggy, and cloud recordings work for a little while and then stop - have had to delete and readd inside and outside cameras many, many, many times. Customer support is 97% fluff and wasted time. Just an overseas call center with a poorly written script.

Garbage app
Really rudimentary app that’s full of bugs. Doesn’t even offer face recognition login, like most decent apps do. The security system itself is also really basic. Don’t like anything about the app nor the product. For the longest time there was an annoying notification badge that wouldn’t go away. Finally I got rid of it by reinstalling the app and resetting notification settings but now I can’t sign back in. I’m going to start looking for other security options.

Horrible Service
I often have issues getting into the app, it would try it login and just keep spinning. When I eventually get in, the app and physical console are not in sync because it’s telling me that a sensor isn’t working on the app, but the console is saying everything is working. I also have issues activating or deactivating the alarm; it would just spin and spin. I’ve contacted support and they don’t know what they are doing. I wouldn’t recommend Cove to anybody I know.

My app works perfectly and I’m very happy with the system!
I read all these awful reviews and was really wanting to cancel my subscription but then I just gave it a shot and it works perfectly. I have no idea what everyone is crying about.
