I like the game a lot. What I noticed over the past week of playing is that I can play the game with a weak internet connection (perhaps airplane mode even) but then my pop-up “helpers” for the game are ads to buy in game currency. This was the only game I could play the last two days when we lost power and cell coverage was messed up (hurricane Ian) so I did experience frustration of needing to restart a whole batch of puzzles when I ran out of health due to mistakes. However after full cell service was restored, the pop-up helpers come sporting offers to watch ads for help. And if I’ve just run out of cones, a cone helper comes up and if I’m low on health, a health restorer comes by. Do I like watching ads?! Nope. But after spending thousands on other “free” games, I’ll watch the ads. If you like this type of game, the developer makes another like this without much “story,” called Riddle Stones. And if you like Crimo but want more story, Crimo Stories has a bunch of reading / background story. I found these games because this developer originally made Treasure Madness, the most epic game on Facebook for years. I was so sad to see it go. I hope to see them revisit a similar app for mobile. In the meantime, hooked on this one.

Ads not constant, could be slightly more clever
This game is perfect for when your brain needs a break for a few minutes. If you are paying attention you can usually figure out the number pattern. One small suggestion would be to make the clues more logical. For example, in one game finding a broken bone ruled out blunt force trauma (the wrench), but left open to speculation poison, gun, knife, molatov, or chainsaw? I understand that this is most likely random, but if not.... Another suggestion is to offer the option to make a guess like in Clue, but if you are wrong, you forfeit (or have to watch comercials). A final suggestion is to steer clear of the commercials with forced sound. If I need my volume on, which I frequently do, I can't play your game for fear of the disturbance to others (or silently watch your commercials, which is your profit). I do enjoy the game for what it is.

Fun take on logic puzzle, but silly restrictions make it frustrating
This is a fun take on the picture logic puzzle. However, as a long time player of those puzzles, I find a few of the ‘features’ to be highly annoying. The limit on the number of traffic cones you have (to block of spaces that you know can’t be filled) seems arbitrary, slows down the game, and makes the puzzles more tedious than they need to be. Having to ration these markers forces you to keep more in your head unnecessarily. It is like making a sudoku game where you are only allowed to make tentative ‘pencil’ marks for odd numbers. Sure, it makes the game more challenging, but not in a fun way. I also dislike the instant health loss for a mis -click. If you are dragging to fill a group of 8 and accidentally drag a square too far on your small screen, you are immediately penalized. As someone experienced with this type of puzzle, I could zip through the early puzzles easily but have to go much more slowly than I should have to in order to prevent this. I realize that the mechanic of hiding extra things behind boxes made the developers not want to only have this check only at the end of the puzzle. However it currently has been a great annoyance to me. Perhaps consider something like allowing users to lock in individual rows or columns and penalize them/reveal items at that time.

I love this game but can only give 3 stars because
First off I do love this game... it has The Who done-it and puzzle solving , it’s great. But after you’ve solved like a couple of cases, you can no longer watch a video to continue on after making a slightest mistake. There is no undo button to avoid this, you are held hostage to either put more money in for coins (so far I think the only way you get them is to buy them I don’t think you earn them) or go back to the beginning of the section losing all the clues you solved the puzzles for. Oh and if you want to X out the unusable squares you have to use cones. Those aren’t free either after a few rounds. I have spent more in this game than I have other games because I like it but I don’t like the fact that I am having to constantly buy more coins just to enjoy the game. When you have to do 5 grids or more to get through the section it’s a little difficult to get through them error free especially when there is no undo button and your fingers sometimes register the wrong square you intended in the seventh grid of seven that is 90% full either pay 85 coins or go back to beginning . It gets old after a while. I’m sad I may have to delete it I just can’t afford it . But it was a great idea though . That’s the only reason I gave it three stars .

Decent game, terrible gameplay choices
This game is decent, at least it was, until I completed the tutorial. In the Academy missions, the game is simple: check boxes, place cones, solve cases; but after completing the tutorial, everything changes. Now I only have a certain amount of “energy” (I don’t know what it’s called in the game) to actually play the game and I only have a certain amount of cones/flags. In a game where placing cones is so you don’t accidentally click a false tile and to help reveal the answer, having limited tiles doesn’t really make sense. And in a game, having a certain amount of “energy” doesn’t make sense either. As a developer you want people to continuously play your game to make the most money. But with “energy”, once I run out I have to wait to play and I already have to wait when I try to analyze a clue. The third problem I have with this, is health. In the academy missions, you are ranked by stars. You start with 3, and every time you get a wrong tile, you lose one. But in Miami, I click two wrong tiles and my health is now gone and I have to restart. Not three like normal. Two. Health, along with everything else, is what games like this shouldn’t have. You shouldn’t have timers when other features already are timed. You shouldn’t restrict us from playing if we ever run out of “energy.” And you shouldn’t just change the amount of tiles we can get wrong out of nowhere. Decent idea, terrible execution.

Fun Gamplay, Still Has Issues
Edit: I'm reading other reviews and seeing a lot of the same complaint regarding the orange cones. Also at one point the development team responded to a complaint about ads by stating "if you watch reward ads then less forced ads will pop up" which is....not a great thing to admit. While the puzzles themselves are fun, as is the storyline of being a detective, this app has a few issues. Of the most annoying are the orange cones used to signify X on the puzzle board, for some reason this app has decided in order to get more cones you have to either pay or watch ads which is strange to me seeing as how they're used to avoid making mistakes on the board so you use them pretty much EVERY SINGLE MATCH. Another issue is the apps inability to determine if I'm selecting the cones option or not, multiple times I've failed levels because the app itself fails to acknowledge that I've pressed the cone button and instead penalizes me for making a non-existent mistake. With a few tune-ups and adjustments this would be a fun game, the issues are just so obnoxious right now.

Great fundamental game, aggressive monetization
Nonograms are always fun, and this game does well to make doing them smooth at enjoyable. The premise is sound and the game plays well. I’m about ready to delete it anyway due to hyper-monetization. Forced Ads, limited (but can buy more) cones, ads for hints and coins, timers on clues for no reason other than to try and get you to pay or watch an ad, the health mechanic in tandem with the star mechanic, an attempted weekly subscription (not with new content! Just to play the bass game mind you), ect. Usually these types of games limit themselves to ads or selling power ups and continues. This game instead moves into the territory of blending all of them together. It’s not fun and hinders enjoyment, as I’m constantly reminded of the monetization. Your work is good and a less aggressive model would’ve likely enticed my to purchase say an ad-free version, but I’m wary due to seemingly more layers of monetization. Knowing that even if I pay you to remove ads that I’ll find myself without the ability to play at times from another direction leaves me buying nothing instead.

Fun game but super greedy devs, don’t bother!
I’m a huge fan of pictogram games so I was excited to see a version that includes a solving crime aspect instead of just completing the puzzles. I was having a lot of fun until I realized how greedy the devs are! They use “cones” as the way that you mark blank spots, a necessary aspect of any Nonogram puzzle. During the tutorial they are free, but after that your have to pay for them using coins. Coins are ONLY attainable via real money! Get this - the only way to get unlimited cones is to pay $2.99 a WEEK!!! That’s the price of an MMO for a silly little app! Are you kidding me devs?! I would gladly watch ads for you to throw a few coins my way, but no option for that. Forced to watch ads anyhow but I will say they weren’t very invasive in my opinion compared to some games. My biggest turn off is the cones/coins issue. They apparently only want paying customers for this game and I don’t play apps consistently enough for any type of subscription like that. If they had offered a one time $5 for unlimited cones I probably would have paid it. But $12-15 a month is INSANE. Good luck greedy devs, I’m deleting your fun app.

Great game
This is a great alternative to picture type puzzles of this sort. Very few ads is a huge plus. The levels are very well thought out. I have found one yet that I needed a clue on, even though many of them are a challenge. Some picture type puzzles are tossed together with no thought whatsoever about the puzzle being able to be completely solved with logic only. I haven’t found that to be the case here at all. I can see that these are very well thought out. I like the challenge of not using cones to solve. I often challenge myself in picture types by not X-ing out unused squares so I used to that challenge. The story lines aren’t that great but I really don’t play for them. You can often solve the crime long before you’ve finished all the levels in a section. Overall this is a great game.

Challenging and fun
I’ve played a lot of strategy games but this one I could play forever. It’s very challenging at times but never impossible, and I’ve never felt it to be unfair (so much as me being a big dummy or trying to rush through levels). It has a lot of playability, and while I wish there were more ways to get energy, the energy system isn’t at all like other games where it’s totally rigged and you have to wait for days if you play for free. The energy regain speed is fine to me, and encourages me to take my time while also making each completed level feel like a big success In the past it has been buggy but it’s pretty smooth now and I haven’t noticed anything awry. If you want a fun, fair yet challenging strategy game you’ll keep on your phone for months, this is the one

The Best Nonogram Game
I’m a huge fan of this genre of games, and of the ones I’ve played, I’d have to say this tops them all. The game needs to make money of course, so while playing for 5-10 minutes and having to leave until your energy replenishes can get annoying, it’s understandable. A few small gripes: -I wish there was a little bit more story for each case. Explain who the victim was, yadda yadda ya. This would help with the realism. -The energy seems incredibly random. I get that it charges you more energy for a grid with more puzzles, but why 273 vs 154. Just seems odd to me. -I don’t need someone coming to tell me that this is an FBI grid every time. I got it. -Just have a button instead of a pop up asking if I need help. I don’t need help every time I pause for five seconds. -When there’s only one option left for motive, suspect, or weapon, it takes a long time for the glowing animation to finish. Just let me tap and speed it up. Obviously these are suggestions, and none of these things tarnished this game’s rating. I appreciate that the devs are giving us something inventive with this genre, and fully support it. 5/5

It’s P2P Nonograms
If you’ve ever played Nonograms, that’s what this is, wrapped in a detective “story” and with all the usual ads/p2p gimmicks thrown in. There are limited “cones” (markers to identify fields that aren’t active) and if you run out you need to wait, watch an ad or pay for more. There’s a subscription option. The mystery part is pretty underwhelming tbh. Solving a puzzling gives you a “clue” which you then have to click on and either wait or pay/watch to speed up the “analysis” on so it can eliminate a weapon, motive, or suspect. There’s no actual deduction on your part. Just an additional opportunity for them to try and get you to pay them. Look, it’s playable. It’s fine if it’s what you want to play, but honestly, I’d just go get one of the free or one time purchase Nonogram apps. You’ll probably get better puzzles without the gimmicks trying to get you to spend more money.

Tutorial was better than the actual game
When I was doing the tutorial, I thought this game sounded so fun! I was actually enjoying myself! That was until I got past the tutorial and had all of these unnecessary road blocks thrown at me. Why the limited number of traffic cones? That makes no sense and is so incredibly tedious and unnecessary. I also HATE the “health” bar. One mistake and you go down to like 34% health. Why the health bar?? Why not just take away the stars for mistakes like in the tutorial? It’s so much more logical and doesn’t make me as mad when I miss a couple. Why make the tutorial feel so casual and then give us a game that’s hard for no reason? I hate the way this game is managed and I don’t see myself keeping it for much longer if this issue is not resolved. Nonogram is the same game with no unnecessary hardships. Anyone reading this, get that game instead! Definitely won’t be recommending to any of my friends.

Fun and addicting game!
This is such an original game with a cool concept! It pairs well with the current idle style gaming where you play for a time and then wait while your energy recharges and your clues are analyzed. You can of course spend money to get those things faster which I've done more than once because I wanted to play longer- it's so fun! They made the nonogram game play nice because it greys out the numbers once you've solved a line, the hints are clever, and having limited cones to mark the blank squares greatly increases the challenge! It's improving my nonogram skills because I have to do more of the logic in my head to save cones. I highly recommend you try this game!

Paying for cone restrictions tanks otherwise fun picross variant
Ton of free-with-in-game-app-purchases picross games on the App Store. This one is a standout in terms of the presentation, clearly a lot has been invested in graphics and giving a sense of “story” in a game format that doesn’t really need it but makes the visuals more appealing. That all said, I don’t hate most of the push to pay tactics like gating progress on a recharge timer, or offering more levels if you pay money, those things make some sense to me. Having users have to pay for the “cones” the in-game mechanism of marking tiles you know shouldn’t be filled in ultimately caused me to uninstall. It adds an unnecessary level of difficulty in the resource management that I think undermines a lot about what I enjoy about picross. Wanted to like this more but ultimately uninstalled because of it.

Great puzzle game
This is one of those rare games that is very challenging, but it is not impossible if you keep thinking it through. You actually look forward to the ads because the reward will often help you solve the puzzle. I can’t speak for the harder levels because I haven’t gotten to them yet.

Updates are worse and worse
The game is starting to lose me and I’ve been playing it for a while but it’s going downhill. From the start you can only play 2 or 3 levels at once which is horrendous and should be changed. That doesn’t hold me there. Second, a recent update changed the location of the button for watching a video for rewards. It changed it to be in the way of the game! I’ve lost levels bc I couldn’t move it out of the way and then a fire took the number away. Ridiculous. It was fine in the corner and they had to prove it trying to force you to watch the video. Close to deleting the game. Give us more lives & move the video reward back.

Fun but typical money grab...
Love the puzzles and story. Concept is nice. As usual, takes a ton of energy to play puzzles, so you can only work a few. One mistake depletes almost entire life and the food to replenish barely adds life back. Also, limited “cone” markers to mark squares is unrealistic. 50 really?! One difficult puzzle uses them up quick. I find myself taking a screenshot and work it by hand, then go back to game and fill in the correct answers. It is really fun for a few minutes, until you run out of energy and cones that of course you can purchase. Ads are looooong and frequent, at least it is fairly inexpensive to purchase ad free.

Almost Perfect
This is a fun game. I play daily. Not giving it 5 stars for a few reasons. The clues, weapons, motive, and suspects never change. Boring and pointless since we should be allowed to guess in these categories, rather than just waiting for the process of elimination. Also, there are no incentives. Extra coins or extra lives for passing milestones. (Actually, I’ve no idea what the coins are for.) At this point when I have a wrong guess I just stop the game rather than having points taken off. I wind up with a perfect score for every case. Good for me, but boring and predictable. Base game is fun, but could be a better experience overall.

Okay Overall
Overall, it is a very fun game. With that being said, I do have a few issues. When you make a wrong move, it takes MOST of your life, but when you collect food to refill your life it takes so much bc it BARELY refills life. Also, there is NO way to receive coins unless you buy them. So after you run out of coins that the game offers you, the only way to try again on a level after you die is by watching an ad but the issue with that is the fact that your life refills with less than 10%. The game is cheap, but I refuse to pay for coins in a game when I have so many financial responsibilities in real life.

Cute, but too long to get results and too costly
The logic grids are fun to solve, but the video intervals (commercials) come too quickly and it takes too long (well over an hour) for the “analysis” to come back from the “lab”. It costs $2.99 per week to play the game to speed things up without annoyance and commercials... and that’s too much. For this I’ll go back to sudoku. I’ve already played two levels and can’t complete either because I’m still waiting for the “analysis”. I also can’t continue on to the next level until one of the two are completed. And that’s just not fun.

Could of been great
The concept of the game is great! I don’t mind waiting for the evidence to process BUT the farther u go I feel like it’s nearly impossible to figure out the puzzle without a tool and of course u gotta watch ads for that or buy more. U only get 50 cones a day which goes by quickly oooor u can buy more. If you tap the wrong square 90% of ur health is gone so sometimes it’s a one hit kill. Then you can watch an ad to revive or pay with coins which means…. You have to pay. So it’s definitely a money grabber . I wish there was like a daily login reward or something. Cool concept of a game but just not worth it

So many ads
Such a great concept, I love a good mystery, especially with a fun brain game. But my god the ads are atrocious. After completing the tutorial I’ve been bombarded with ad after ad after ad. I literally open the app and I’m forced to what a 30 second clip. And constantly being asked to spend the 5.99 to get rid of ads. But seriously? 5.99 just to get rid of ads, that doesn’t even include having to wait to analyze clues, or a limited number of traffic cones that run out in one level. 5.99 only to remove ads. So sad but had to delete it wasn't worth my time.

It’s good at first but then gets unrealistic
First of all the tutorial was ok but then when you out of it things change and gets unrealistic. Like being in Miami when starting a crime you have to do the thing blah blah blah but when it says when getting a tile wrong. Your hp goes down like how did I get hurt like if I get tile wrong someone shoots me? That makes no sense and eating food to gain hp? Come on what are we playing a kids game like every kid game is “Eat food to gain hp!” Lets not forget this is a game for 12 y olds and me? Oh 12 not 6 playing a kid game at least make it realistic when gets a tile wrong.

$3 a week? Seriously?
$3/week is a ridiculous ask to be able to play this game ad-free and with unlimited cones (an inherent feature of the type of puzzle the game is based on) and energy. That's almost double what I pay for my NYT crossword subscription, and this game is simply not worth double the value of the NYT crossword. Assuming you want people to continue playing the game, you're asking almost $150/year for a phone game, which is hilariously overpriced. If this game were like many other F2Ps and offered an ad-free, unlimited cone/energy version for, say, $5? You'd have my money already. As it is, it isn't worth a dime.

Another energy-based puzzle game
Just as you’d expect, a game that requires “energy points” to play levels so you can’t play more than a few levels per hour. This can be circumvented by watching multiple ads, waiting, or, of course, paying a weekly subscription. Limited “cones” which are part of every level and power ups that you’re really better off without, which cost coins you can mainly get through, you guessed it, real money. Ads are just about as common as any other app, but with the tedious nature of this game, it’s better to just watch them on another game.

holds your hand like you’re a toddler learning what squares are
the concept of this game seemed so fun… until i played the first three minutes and was trying to skip through everything as fast as possible. it teaches you every single thing including all of the strategies to play a perfect game your first try instead of letting you try anything naturally. oh and then i got the intrusive ad and deleted it. im not going to play a game that hand feeds me everything like i’m a child and then immediately hit me with an ad the first time it lets you loose. there’s no way to skip the tutorial and i just hate them. i don’t care if i fail i just want the option to learn on my own. there’s no point now if i know all the strategies. even if it gets more complicated if your going to give me the answer the puzzle takes 30 seconds to complete instead of 10.

Pay to play
This is a fun logic game. Visually pleasing brain exercise. Beware though, once you pass the trial stages you will soon realize that this is not even a pay to win, this is a pay to play. You have to buy stars to heal because errors hit you like a freight train. Like 1-2 errors and you’re dead. I wish there was a way to get stars through ads periodically. Not sure I will keep going after I use these last stars.

Ad glitches lose progress
Love the game play and range of puzzle difficulties. But probably about 30-40% of the time the ads (either required at the end of levels or ones for gaining extras) freeze and glitch so I’m stuck. The only way out is to close the app and I lose all progress in that level and the coffee used to start it. Descent game, story line lacking
The Nonogram part is fun and yes you can play and solve without using the cones. The story line and the solving of the nursery needs work. Why are there two level choices, but the game automatically takes me to one but no the other? Why don’t I have to solve all the puzzles in the section to since the murder? Overall, takes some analytical processing and good for a change of pace but this could be a phenomenal game if there was bit more flesh to the murder solving.

Disappointed
This was my first time playing this type of game so once I learned it, I was itching to get into solving puzzles. Everything was going fine til about the third case...the puzzles became unsolvable w/o using a ‘hint’. The game states that every puzzle can be strategically solved but I didn’t find that to be true...it turned into a guessing game. I’d work through them and find multiple options w/o a single clear answer....and I was just starting to get addicted 😜 Anyway, I gave it a second star due to fixing the bugs & changing the energy system

Glitch Restarts Cases
I REALLY want to love this game, but I may have to delete it due to a recurring glitch that makes it far more frustrating than fun. Every time I close the game, I lose whatever progress I’ve made on the current case (or even the tutorial). It took me six attempts to get through the tutorial because it kept resetting back to the start. Once the tutorial ended, I thought I might be through the glitch. But I was most of the way through the first case and ran out of energy. I closed the app and when I opened it again, all my progress was lost. Even more frustrating, I was still missing the cones and energy I had used on that case. So my items were gone, but I was starting from scratch. As it seems to be impossible to progress in this game with this glitch, I may have to delete, which is disappointing.

Love this game. Has always been one of my all time favourites. Puzzles are fun and keeps me thinking. Recently though I’ve been having a problem with the little popups for you to watch a video if you choose to. They get in the way of the numbers on top and it’s very annoying. The team that put this together is great to talk with when you have a problem too.

Thumbs up.
It’s one of the better games out there. The infrastructure is good and someone put a lot of effort into the “help” options as they are neither too plentiful or scarce. The only thing I found a bit odd was the solving of who did it and with what weapon. There isn’t any thinking to that part. And you don’t really know when to stop playing the regular part of the game to solve the whodunnit part.

Would like to actually solve crimes
The crime portion of this game is stupidly simple. You find clues, wait a certain amount of time to process them, and then the game decides what the clue means and what the answer is. This game would be infinitely better if you could solve any portion of the crime yourself. Even if it was just like found a long hair, cross off all short-haired people. Anything that actually makes you interact with the crime portion of the game. The nonogram game portion is good though. I like the limited cones (Xs) and the losing health with mistakes.

Okay, but definitely an ad farm/ptw
The concept of the game is pretty fun, and I love these types of puzzles, but after a few hours of playing, you start to realize that some of the puzzles require you to either guess or use the “power ups” to progress. That, combined with the limited number of cones made me delete the app after a week. I don’t want “puzzles” that can’t be solved without power ups that you sell for real money.

I love this game and I’m a phone game snob! Once you play regularly you almost always can figure out the level with a little luck too. But one of the biggest flaws is how easy it is to lose a level (your heart) in addition to not being able to earn coins or cones during regular play.

Great game but ads are making it not worth playing
I love Nonograms so I was really enjoying this. As a rule, I don’t mind watching ads, but lately the ads have been 30 secs long which is as long as a television ad. That is ridiculous especially when they occur between every game. I am getting so bored I am ready to delete the app. Why they have chosen to destroy apps with these long ads is unfathomable.

Pop up “help”
It’s really annoying and distracting when you have coins and there’s pop up “help” to give you clues and cones etc while mid game I wish you had the choice to turn it off. Also an undo button that gave you your star back (once per attempt maybe) would be helpful cause I’ve had countless times where the game mistook where I wanted to press and the place it thought I clicked was wrong. Very frustrating.

Game is great, ads screw it up
I think this is one of the more challenging versions of picture logic games out there. However, the ads sometimes have no exit — currently it’s the one for Stihl chainsaws. So you cannot proceed past that ad, and must quit. Every time. This has happened before with a different ad, and really ruins the game play.

Good game just one small issue
I love this game it took me a while to figure out how to play but now that I know it’s my favorite! There’s just one problem, whenever I watch an ad for coffee, coins, cones, and fire sometimes it doesn’t give me what I watched the video for as if I never watched one. I watched an ad for cones and when the video was over it never gave me my cones :( other than that the game is great.

Cool but...
It’s a really great challenging game but in big squares it’s really difficult and outstanding that you don’t have unlimited security cones plus no chance to select wrong! In my opinion, for next update Give unlimited cones for big squares or at least give player more chances to select wrong! If not it would be kinda impossible to solve it without a booster Thanks(if you read this )

Decent premise. Lousy execution.
Basic logic dots sort of puzzles, dressed up as a series of murder investigations where wrong guesses injure you, often requiring you to watch ads in order to heal. Biggest complaint is that traffic cones (used for marking empty spaces) are very limited after the tutorial, which makes puzzles much harder. Secondary complaint is that spaces got too small for my fingers on my phone after I progressed a bit. Game often thinks I tapped the wrong square, which injures me... Look elsewhere for fun.

Intrusive “help”
Please cut down on the amount of bubble that pop up offering a video to help a stuck player. It’s way too frequent, sometimes coming seconds after the previous one. It eats into the flow of solving a puzzle and (for me personally) is a source of frustration. Let me be stuck for a little bit. That makes solving the puzzle that much more rewarding
