In theory this is an awesome concept. Can track and watch competitions in real time along with all competition info in one place. The livestreams are just horrible; constantly buffering and losing connection. The live schedule is also always off of what number is actually on stage. I get that delays and things happen but to actually keep the live schedule accurate or close to accurate doesn’t seem that difficult. It was 15 numbers off at one point, saying that #360 is on stage and the live stream is showing the 340’s. What’s the point of this feature if it’s so inaccurate? The app has come a long way since it’s inception but still has a lot of work to be done
The app is great in theory but wonky in execution. When my child attends a comp, I cannot save that competition and have to go in each time to search for the competition and date to see the schedule or live stream. I also cannot save her dances to our profile so when I want to go back to view/purchase photos or videos I have to search through all the options (date, studio, name, DOB, etc). We attend another competition who uses their own app which executes beautifully. It would be nice for DanceBUG to catch up. We have used this for years with the same issues.
So my mom told me to download this because this because I’m at a competition but can’t see because there’s someone blocking my vision I got it set up, then I got on the livestream for the competition I’m at, but the thing is, there’s a delay, and I don’t mean a 1 or 2 second delay, I mean I was watching it then went back to a part that happened like HALF AN HOUR AGO and I can’t even watch it because of there not being any sound because I can already hear it because I’m at the competition and I don’t want the echo effect or for the sounds to be moshed together so I barely know what’s going on and when watching it randomly paused and I couldn’t unpause it, and it took forever to get on, don’t even THINK about getting this.
The livestream is probably one of the worst functions of this app. Besides videos uploading from the competition taking a while to upload the livestream is by far the worst thing you can sign into. Constant glitching and audio coming in and out as well as the app just crashing. It’s quite terrible when you’re trying to watch and cheer on when not being able to be there in person. Very disappointing for how much money is spent for the purple membership as well as all access to photos and videos from the competition. You would think the livestream would be included with that with it being functional but unfortunately that is not the case.
I don’t normally leave reviews on apps but I really enjoyed using this app. I got Covid and couldn’t attend my daughters dance competition so I watched the entire competition through the app and I didn’t have any issues with the quality. The streaming was live and wasn’t behind at all. I am very pleased with their streaming service! Thank you for making me feel like I was still a part of her day even though I wasn’t there! :)
I’m giving it a two-star rating just because the promise here is actually a good one, and I believe their intentions to set up a really great app is great, but let me comment on the livestream experience: absolutely the worst I have ever, ever seen. The livestream is so, so bad, so poor it shouldn’t even exist!! It reloads and glitches every two or three seconds. It is impossible to watch anything. What a shame! Meanwhile, many competitions have their own set up for livestream, and it works perfectly well. Please, do some thing, DanceBug. What you offer is just awful.
Hello so I’m a competitive dancer and I saw this app I thought it will make me see my friends on stage while I’m in the dressing room. So I downloaded Dance bug and it’s not loading and there’s way to many glitches, lots of people say it’s a really good app but in my opinion I feel like it’s to much glitches I will rate this at least 4 stars if these stuff weren’t happening I really appreciate the hard work and effort but the app isn’t working as well as I expected, I appreciate your time reading this but overall it’s 2 stars.
I was excited to see this app this morning because I couldn’t make it in person today. I out all of my daughters’ dances in the schedule and I was also checking the “live” schedule. However, none of it is accurate and the app is reminding me of dances “in 15 minutes” that happened a while ago. I totally get that comps run early and late, but the app (or the people at the comp perhaps who are supposed to be keeping the app updated) needs to improve.
I LOVE DanceBUG but the only thing is, sometimes your competition doesn’t use DanceBUG so you have to buy a $15 program to see the schedule ect. Another con is, if your competition is running late or early DanceBUG’s schedule won’t catch up. DanceBUG shows you where you are, food places around you, coffee shops, hotels, your routines, the full schedule, and routines that are on stage and routines that are about to go on stage.
This is a great app for everyone but it seems as if you can only watch about 20 minutes and then it loses signal. It stays in we will be right back mode and you can’t watch any other performances.
This apps concept is awesome; You can look at your competition, get photos, watch live stream and see what dance they’re on but it’s kind of hard to do that when you can’t even get in the app. I spent a good 30 minutes figuring out how to login then when I finally logged in and tried to get photos It said my date of birth was wrong so I spent over an hour trying to login and I didn’t get single photo. And I heard from my friends that live stream sucked and it was off timing for when dances were.
This app has been so helpful at competitions to see when the team is checked in backstage, if the competition is running ahead of schedule and to see how many routines before the teams next performance. It also helps family watching from home.
It’s a little confusing at first but you can save your child’s dance information and it notifies you as least 30-15 minutes before your child’s dance (depending on the settings). It was also easier to get to the livestream though this app and was truly helpful.
So my friend has this app so we can see our studio dance from the past, and it worked for her. So I downloaded the app, too and when I went into sign up, put in the information, it said that someone had already made that account. So I went into login, put in the info again, and it took like a minute to load, but it lagged me out of the app. So I tried again, and it said “invalid credentials provided” please fix this and I would actually appreciate the app.
I have been emailing and calling because I cannot access my photos and videos from a comp we attended. They were quick to initially respond however, I’ve spoken to three people via email all three asking the same questions and when they got to asking me what competition she attended all three never responded after that. My phone call was left with it needing to go to a different unit and 5 hours later no communication back. Was hoping for a quicker response.
Don’t waste your money on their packages, horrible!
They make “photography not allowed” at all events to make sure you pay for the picture and video packages…. You buy it and the pictures and videos are HORRIBLE, and not only that but they LOSE YOUR VIDEOS and all they say is “sorry…” but you can’t record at events for memories YET when you buy the package they lose your videos/pictures. Terrible app and service for dance competitions.
Dance bug needs to do some debugging to fix their streaming. It constantly freezes or buffers. We missed dances and parts of awards because the live stream just went out and kept buffering. Please take the time to fix your app especially since it’s the only way for some people to see competitions live. So frustrated and disappointing. I rated this a 1 star only because there’s no way to select none!
I was trying to watch my friends dance competition and when I go to click on the live stream it ethier says the live stream hasn’t started or it just puts me on a loading thing. I’ve sat on the loading thing for about 10 mins and it still hasn’t loading and continued to refresh multiple times and it’s just shows me the same thing. I ended up missing the performance at a whole. 0/10 app FIX THISS
App stopped working today and I tried everything to make it work. I shut my phone off twice, kept clearing the page and restarting the app, and even deleted it all together. All it did was it kept saying error or that I needed to check my connectivity. The website wasn’t working either. My luck being it probably couldn’t work in my favor for the whole week of nationals. It worked perfectly yesterday though.
This app is absolutely amazing! The pictures show up SUPER clear. I can access any of my completion photos, and I can livestream other dances and routines! I would definitely recommend this app!
I was only able to watch a couple of my grand daughter's dances on the live stream. Kids can live-stream on their phones!? Why is it so difficult to turn on the camera and keep it on!? Seemed to work great, then cuts out and says "event will begin shortly". The competition does not allow taping or live streaming the dances, so this is the only way I can watch and it is so frustrating!
This app drives me nuts. I couldn’t make it to most of my daughters competitions due to an injury. Virtually every competition uses this app and I cannot for the life of me understand why. It glitches, freezes and completely shuts you out multiple times. Doesn’t matter if your on cell service with 5 bars or WiFi. Seriously this needs to be fixed.
I was trying to watch my teammates so their solos through the live stream and it wouldn’t load. I had good internet connection. Later I went back on to watch another teammate and it said that the competition will start again at 8:00am. I check again within about five minutes and awards had started. Awful and needs to be fixed
Daughter and I tried to watch her former teammates dance at a Starpower competition. App kept crashing, multiple times we deleted and downloaded again. Finally got notifications to start but the times were off because we’re on the east coast and they’re on the west and the times all came across locally. I was never able to get a link for a livestream either. Literally the worst app ever.
This app is very annoying it had me yelling for atleast 20 minutes I missed so many dances I wanted to watch because of this app and it has terrible service. It was also very slow and I don’t recommend it to anyone that wants to watch dances on time. P.S.(this was my facial expression 🤬) P.P.S.(giving this a one but only cause you can’t do a zero)
I downloaded this app to watch my friend’s dance completion. Overall, the live stream was SUPER glitchy but, when it when it was working, was ok. They def need to fix that because oml it is so annoying. #ENDGLITCHYLIVESTREAMS
There is no reason that in 2021 that you should have a mobile site that is next to impossible to enter any data. I couldn’t even buy my all access pass via the mobile site because my key board covered the last of the information I needed to buy something.
I like the idea of being able to see all of your pictures and videos, but i could watch any of the award ceremonies. I was really looking forward to seeing what place my studio got only to find out that the livestream had an "error". I am disappointed.
This app works some of the time. I cannot access any of my child’s pictures (can’t even get to that option). Everytime I delete the app, download and reneged log-in information it freezes up on me. Great idea, poor quality.
The concept here is great but the delivery is horrendous. The livestream is so bad and cuts out every few seconds making it impossible to watch. I see the same complaint has been made for years and yet there appears to be no improvement. Very disappointing.
The app does not work well with an Apple phone, you actually can view more on the website. You cannot purchase individual pictures! This app was extremely aggravating, save yourself the frustration.
I’ve never written an app review, but I had to share how awful this app is. It’s worthless to purchase your dance comp pics and videos from. You have to use the website. The app is essentially worthless. Don’t bother with the app, just go to their website.
I love that I can watch my friends dances the days I don’t compete but I felt like I missed there dance it loads for so long and then says bad connection
Great if you’re not at the competition, know every routine by name, and are ok with being updated about an upcoming dance that was danced 10-15 minutes prior…. Recommendations: - Add studio names - Don’t offer upcoming dance reminders unless you can ensure those reminders come before the dance.
These photos and videos are very important to parents and the live feed is how many friends and family are able to view. Act like capturing and delivering these memories to us actually matters to you please.
My daughter competes in about 10 dance competitions a year with a few streaming services. This is by far the worst service ever. Constant disruptions to ever routine. Will repeat one part over and over again then skip to the next dance. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
If I could give it ZERO stars I would. We don’t live in same city as granddaughter so it’s only way to watch her competitions. Let me rephrase…we couldn’t watch her competitions!! Guess it forces parents to buy videos at an astronomical price. Ridiculous!!
I’ve been literally trying to load a live video for a hour and nothing is working. I tried deleting the app, restarting it, and even restarted my phone. Please fix this, it’s annoying and frustrating!
I’m trying to watch the Nextstar livestream, but it keeps buffering. I’ve watched many livestreams from other sites and this is by far the worst. I missed one of my grands’ dances and now can’t watch the awards. Ridiculous! 😢👎
Can’t access any live event info. Message says ‘check your connectivity’ even though I’ve got a perfect WiFi connection and every other app on my phone is connecting fine.
The app would not let me view my dance videos even after I added them to my dances. Then the app said I was already logged in when I wasn’t. 0 stars for me
I tried to use it to watch my sister dance on NexStar but it kept crashing and I tried to restart it this app is total trash and worthless of this app this is what it is 🗑🚮
After I loaded the app could not view live stream. Kept hitting button and all it said was please select the city. I did, would not do anything, kept repeating the same message. Worthless app.!!!
