I’ve been using the app for awhile and think this app is great with amazing but needs two thing. the double touch to stop and knowing when you’re recording or not and it all being customizable is cool. Although I would like the “press this to record” sign to be little more discreet it’s a great function. I also think being able to record videos or with the volume button would be amazing, I find myself being able to use a lot and would definitely use the app even more! I have a iPhone 12 and I know the .5 zoom isn’t available which I wish it was but I have no idea if this is the same situation
This app WOULD be excellent for capturing domestic violence situations without alerting your abusive family member that you are recording. Unfortunately the gesture for turning video recording on and off is the same (tap the screen once to begin recording and once again to end recording) so it’s impossible to know whether you are recording or not as the tense situation unfolds. In such a situation is just not possible to take your eyes off the situation and check your screen. To be useful, the gesture for turning the recording on and off needs to be different; perhaps swiping up over 2/3rds of the screen would turn the recording on and swiping down would turn it off, and repeat swiping in the same direction would have no effect so you could swipe up several times and be assured that it is recording. Otherwise as I have unfortunately experienced, the whole situation can be over and you find that the only part you recorded was a few seconds that didn’t even matter. I found a way to contact the app author, and he may be able to address my concern… if so, I will change my review to a full 5 stars.
I am not a fan of the showing the video while recording. The point of this is to be able to record and show them that my phone is not recording. This only happened recently as the front of my screen shows what is recording in a small view. Only being nitpicky otherwise best app I have come across except for my accidental pushing of the stop recording button when I didn’t mean too lol.
Before downloading the app, I was not aware the video feature was only available once your purchase the “pro” version. HOWEVER, In my opinion I believe it was worth every penny, thanks to the app I was able to successfully film pranking my little brother. The only complaint I would have is that for iPhone users who have the slide bar, it shows very faintly on the bottom of the black screen which could potentially defeat the whole purpose of being discreet. Hopefully the developer could solve this issue though I personally don’t think it’s TOO much of a big deal.
This app is discreet just as it says. Can record video with a black screen up. Video quality is good and it saves to a private gallery. Getting in an out of recording is easy. For some reason the video stabilization feature will not stay turned on though when I turn it on in settings.
The app is great with both discrete photo and pro video options. My only hope is that they update the app so that the field of view(FOV) of the camera can be changed since many of us are using iPhones with multiple cameras and the default camera can be too narrow sometimes. Having the ability to use your wide angle lens and camera zoom would be great.
As I couldn’t find a way to contact the developer, I’m using the review to give some suggestions, both are for iPhones. More specifically 15ProMax 1. Add the option to delete a photo or even make small editing options like cropping and changing orientation while viewing a photo you have taken. The only option to delete is when you look at all the photos at once. 2. It’s awkward to hold the camera in a way to get the photos you want while tapping the screen. While the app is open it would be nice to take photos by pushing either the up/down volume buttons. If these additions were made to the app, I would quickly upgrade, but for now, I will just be using free features or looking for another app.
This app is genuinely useful. It is wonderfully simplistic and easy to use. You can use your camera in complete private without the embarrassment of getting caught taking pictures or videos. It is some thing I never knew I until I heard about it from someone. Highly recommend.
The issue I've got is that apparently if you hit the Lock Screen button mid recording it closes without saving. My suggestion is repurpose the button to save while recording is in progress so that the recording isn't lost. Would be a 5* app with that fix
The app works flawlessly on the iPhone and it works on the IPAD. I had private galley on by accident on the IPAD Pro , and its not allowing me download the video. I dont have the same issue when recording into private gallery on the iPhone. Is there any way you can help me figure out how to export the video? Thank you!
I’ve been using this app for a long time now, but only recently after the new update, the video seems to be very very blurry and a bit laggy on 1x zoom as well as the rest except 0.5x. Everything was fine before the update, not sure if I’ll continue using this app ) : Please fix this problem.
I am trying to record but if phone call comes through I lose video. Also if in my pocket and it bumps it stops without recording. Would love to see it record in real time and if it gets turned off it keeps whatever had been recorded.
Sorry to have to write a review because it’s not possible to write to support. I have the latest version of OS and it’s impossible to get the « stabilizator » to stay on. Tried everything and re-installing but the video will never stabilize. Thanks for this great app. I upgraded to Pro.
Even after pro purchase shows pop up "needs photos access permission" every launch and swipe (between gallery and camera) every time. Very dysfunctional. And desceet photos stored in the regular photos app makes them visible to other apps. The decreet gallery is adequate and seperate, and uploads to the files folder app. There is no need for photos app access. Please loose the message or issue a refund ty.
The app is great! is there any chance we could receive an update for the newer iPhones that includes an option to select .5 zoom out option for cameras?
I've tried several times and there are times I find out that it's not even recording. Test it out and it works. When it comes to the real event, it does not work. Maybe an Apple Watch companion that shows whether the recording feature is on...
Even if I rapidly tap-burst on my iPhone, it still struggles to take pictures equivalent to the amount of times I tap the black screen. I could tap 4 times and feel the distinct vibration effect, but when I look into the gallery I only see like 1 or 2 photos and they’re all so blurry. Please fix this in the future so that photos are more clear. Overall, this is a great discreet camera app and I still highly recommend it even with its faults.

App works well but it’s lacking the ability to zoom out and zoom in. It’s a standard feature on an iphone why not incorporate it? When you are recording something up close the ability to zoom out is a must
you read the description and it shows all these fancy stabilizers and other options available, it tells you that you can record camera AND video, and then after you download & install the application and try to switch it from camera to video, it tells you that you have to purchase a “Pro” upgrade just to use the video function. I mean not even for fancy functions but just to use the video function whatsoever, you have to purchase it from this dude. Stop being a slimeball and simply put in your description that to use the video function you have to pay for the app. Man I’m tired of sleazy developers. Uninstalled !
This is an awesome app and it works flawlessly in the pro version. I have it 4 stars. To make this a 5 star app woul to make a motion detector record option. This would truly blow all other black screen camera recorder apps out of the water.
The free version only allow you to take a picture. You need to buy the pro version to be able to record videos. I Astor alone the app to get access to camera, gallery and microphone you will see the actual app and see if you like it or not
At first it was really good the video recording worked and the pictures now the only thing that works is the pictures. But when I record videos it shows them in the gallery but when I open them it won’t load.
Works great except for the fact that pictures and video quality is about 20% lower than using the camera app. For this reason, I won’t be using it. I’ll just dim the screen and use the main camera app.
Make it easier to know when the app is recording and when to stop. Maybe a button on the screen that when pressed the recording begins and screen goes black. If you fix that i will change my review to 5 stars. Thanks.
Have to pay for pro upgrade to test the video recording. I needed it to keep the flash on continually during video recording. Since it showed a “flash on” option in settings, I had to trust that would do it, but pay for pro just to find out. Nope. Flash on does not turn the flash on continually, during video. 1 star is well deserved.
It says in the set up to block shutter sounds, turn volume off or use headphones. Well I don’t have headphones possible here. And I turn the sound completely off but it keeps making the noise. I’m trying some basic stop motion animation, so the camera noise is very distracting. Is there any other way to turn it off? I have an old iPhone 8 and soon a bit newer iPhone 12. Thatnks! the whole purpose I got it was for the video. So I can catch someone in the act. But you have to pay for that… at least let someone use the feature but say maybe only let them record for like 3 mins and unlimited for 5.99
This application is a rip-off. I paid for the subscription and it never worked. I wrote and they never answered. They are thieves. I do not recommend it at all. They just want to keep your money. They are in bad faith.
I’d give this app a better rating if I didn’t have to pay to record video. We all know that’s the real reason why people want this. At least offer a free trial; I’m not willing to throw my money away especially if I don’t even know if it works well.
Video recording for front or rear camera didn’t work after purchasing pro. App stated that video recording works only on pro. I purchased pro and it doesn’t work!
Was just about to purchase the pro version, but there is no option to record with the ultra wide camera. Guess I'll look for a better app to buy today.
everything seems great the app run but the quality a bit choppy on video. is it possibly to support 4k video quality on the back camera on compatible devices such as the iphone 14 pro max?
All the footage i took was unusable by the fact that you need ultra i mean ultra steady hands when shooting a video. i tried enabling stabilator on the settings but after exiting settings it just goes back to off.
