Amazing game, excellent port
Divinity 2 is my favorite game of the last decade, and I couldn’t be happier they made it available on the iPad. The writing is the perfect blend of adventure, satire, surreal, and moving. I loooove the flexibility of the world - there are so many ways to take care of quests and advance to the next step. Beyond that, the sandbox they let you play in is extraordinarily well crafted - it’s on par with Red Dead 2 in making you want to explore every crevice and interact with every character before wrapping things up. I also just ADORE that they made this game multiplayer. There are not enough games that offer a world with this kind of depth and nuanced character building while also allowing multiple people to play together. If you are going to play with other people, I STRONGLY recommend laying down some ground rules on how you interact with NPCs. Otherwise you will often run into moments where one person accepts a quest, and another inadvertantly turns it in without a lot of clarity around what just happened. I really, really hope Larian makes this a regular thing - I would love to see Baldur’s Gate 3 eventually make its way to the iPad.

it’s a good game, but not a great one
This game is loaded with great features that takes gaming on the iPad to a new level of interactive RPG gaming. I have been playing this game on my new iPad pro 5th gen 12.9 with the M1 chip for a while now and, although the game itself is enjoyable to play, there are some issues that make this experience a little disappointing. First, if you play the game on touchscreen mode, there are some delayed reaction issues when interacting with the game where I had to tap some buttons on the game multiple times before the game reacted. Secondly, there needs to me a more user-friendly interactive map in which you could tap on a specific location on the map and make the party move to the desired spot instead of having to exit the map, then scroll around the immediate area all the time to move the party (I’m not referring to fast-travel, which is also a nice feature); and finally, this game needs to allow the user to set different graphics levels; during game play, my iPad tends to get overly warm. I’ve played many other games on my new iPad and this is the only game that causes the warming issue; switching to a lower graphics setting may remedy this problem. Although the game is a good RPG gaming experience, I’m giving this three stars based on these concerns. For the hefty price this app demands, I think these issues should be considered.

Perfect game, but needs further improvement
It is flawless when it comes to the game, the plot, scene, music and all its content is just among the apex quality. But except all those good sides, the iPad edition is functional most of the time but the chances of CTD are increasing as the plot goes. I am using an iPad pro 2018 for this game and I finally made my way to the arx city, and each move I make demands careful thought because when you are saving your game in a crowed place, the game crashes. When you are in a massive combat, the game has high chance to crash. And even when you want to talk to a merchant, it crashes for no reason as well. Besides, some of the skill is buggy. Like Adrenaline, if you slide away the bar that skill is in before the animation is finished, then it won’t work but the action point is still costed. Another obvious bug is Nether Swap, it just won’t work and you won’t switch the positions of you and the one you selected. It is either you are moved to them or the other way around. And there are some frauds about the touching control as well but they doesn’t influence the whole gaming. Overall, I want to say, I know it is a quite demanding game since it is originally from PC, and that Ipadpro 2018 might be old for this generation, but I hope you can optimize the game and then it would be the best one ever the iOS store has.

What the iPad really needs.
I have been using an iPad as my portable computer since 2013. The hardware has come a long way since then, but we don’t have a lot of developers taking the platform seriously for “real,” high-quality games. A big release like will hopefully change that trend. This is an excellent port. The graphical quality is outstanding and the framerate is incredibly stable. It’s excellent that full keyboard and mouse control has been implemented; there are a bunch of games already in the app store that could benefit from this, but almost no developers have taken advantage of this since Apple introduced mouse support more than a year ago. As far as the gameplay is concerned, I think people know what this game is by now. If you want a spiritual successor to old school crpgs with some modern updates (combat is way more engaging than in Baldur’s Gate, for example), that’s what’s on offer here. If you’re at all interested in that kind of experience, then $25 is a bargain considering the amount of work that’s gone into this title, the length of the game, and the replayability that’s inherent to these kinds of games. Just buy it.

Amazing!!!
It’s just like the pc game!! It runs really smoothly. You don’t need a internet connection to play unless you are wanting to save to the cloud so you can cross save. Speaking of cross-save, it works perfect. I currently have 3 profiles and 4 games saved and I have access to all of them . I don’t know what the max number of profiles you can have but I’m not sure there’s a limit. There are so many options for game play you want to try all the things which leads to multiple builds. There is so much more I could say about the story and characters and the very fun Gift Bags you can use to enhance your game play. But… The most important thing that makes this app the best is there are NO IN GAME ADS an NO IN GAME PURCHASES… AMAZING!!!! Once you buy it you are done paying. I love you Larian Studios!!! Thank you for giving this to us on iPad, you are beautiful people! 🥰❤️💕

Great Game
This game by far has the best quality graphics on this type of platform. Divinity 2 has run flawlessly on my 2022 IPad Air 5th generation. This game is well worth the investment with no extra money grabs. I have played this from beginning to end without experiencing a single crash. Some have complained about excessive heat. I eliminated this problem by running my IPad Air directly on a high quality metal cooling pad. I can run the game as long as I like. The cooling pad dissipates heat so quickly it’s barely noticeable to the touch. I played this with & without a PS5 controller & both ways worked fine.

Great story and game; mildly clunky mechanics and a battery eater
Overall, I am genuinely enjoying the experience on the iPad! came to this game after Baldur’s gate 3. As someone who has no PC, but a Nintendo switch and an iPad, I chose to play the definitive version on this. overall, they did a pretty good job with implementing it on a touchscreen device, however, there are a few issues and glitches along the way. nothing game breaking, but does warrant a little bit less than five stars. Another issue I have come across is that this game takes up battery like no other. I can have the iPad charging, and it still takes more battery than it receives from the charge. The content of the game itself is brilliant. If you enjoy Baldur’s gate 3 for its story, and don’t mind a lack of cut scenes, this is the closest game to it.

Great game, but a crash on startup will brick the game and require re-install
This game is great when it works. I am running the game on the latest 12.9 M1 iPad Pro so it should run great. Every once in a while though the game will crash on start up while it is generating the shader cache and if it does crash during this start up it is impossible to reopen the game without an instant crash. Restarting the ipad does not help I have had this happen to me four times already, every time I have had to delete the game and reinstall completely. Thankfully I have been backing up saves through iCloud, but this is very annoying. This game would be absolutely perfect in my opinion if not for this issue.

Controller can not open map, please add a map option !!!!!!!!
Dear developer. I’m sorry for 1 star but I have to report a really annoying issue about the map button of this iPad version of DOS2. 1 star is only for better noticed by you and I will change it to 5 stars once I received your response. Since most of the third part controllers will emulate a DualShock 4 wireless controller, and this is the problem! Because they don’t have touch areas to open the map!! I have a 8bitdo sn30 pro+ which is really comfortable to use but it cannot open the map in DOS2. I also bought an ipega PG-9083s for iPad mini 6, but it also cannot open the map because all of them are emulating a DualShock controller in IpadOS. I’m really loving this game and loving playing it in ipad, please add a custom map option in setting to remap the map button. Really thank you!

Cross-Save is Ponderous
First, the devs deleted my original review where I was confused about the ability to cross save between my PC and iPad. Now I understand this is possible, I also understand it is like I am in the 90’s with the process that you have to use. For those that do not know, you have to use iTunes, cables, and drag and dropping of files. I have the original Divinity, Divinity 2 on the PC/Switch/iPad, as well as the new Baldur’s Gate 3, so I am absolutely a fan of this studio and the product they put out. But I absolutely not a fan of the archaic cross-save process that is needed from the iPad and PC. This should be automatic and wireless the same as the Switch. Larian should use the Steam Cloud API at the very least. Because of this, I will only play this game on my iPad and Switch as it is way to much hassle to fire up my PC, grab a cable and go find save files and use iTunes (which is horrible for file transfers) to drag and drop. Again, this solution that has been put in place downgrades the overall experience with this game.

Exceptional optimization but slightly buggy.
This is easily the best turn-based RPG on iPad platform, for they made a current-gen triple a title playable on mobile platform, which is incredible. However, note that minor but annoying bugs exist. First, there are false alarms on storage. The in-game downloaded seems to ignore the already downloaded parts while calculation space, causing players to make up more room than the game needs. Second, there are random occasions where touch control does not respond. A game worth buying but would be perfect if bugs could be fixed.

Decent Port, Bad Battery Drain
Brand new M2 iPad Pro 12.9 1TB - Battery drops ~50% / hour. It would be nice if there were a few options to tame the graphics or kill effects for better battery life. I think at its current drain rate, it is possible to damage your iPad battery if you play a lot. My iPad was also pretty darn hot after a short while. There are issues when using keyboard shortcuts to open menus. You'll lose mouse input. The only way I've figured how to get it back is to go out of the game to the iPad home screen then go back into game using the mouse. While I prefer to play games with a mouse and keyboard, I tried using just touch controls and they are honestly pretty bad. Its hard to select items (seems you can almost never tap what you are trying to). OK, all that bad stuff outta the way, I AM so glad they ported this game to iPad. While still rough around the edges, it does show other devs that newer iPads are pretty capable gaming devices (I mean, for something this portable its pretty cool). I will certainly update my review as updates improve things.

In first 2 hours of play it crashed 8 times.
Updated from 2 to 4 stars. Crashes stopped after completing the opening boat section. I still find it odd that the Apple Pencil isn’t supported, hopefully the developer fixes that with next update, considering every device the game is compatible with supports the pencil. Otherwise this is an excellent AAA game. Not a promising start for this game. Also it is still true that the input lag isssue has not been solved. The Apple Pencil is useless as it registers maybe 1 out of 20 taps… using a finger registers maybe 1 out of 5 taps. I wish I would have saved my $25 now. Needs work. Playing on M1 iPad Pro.

Just superb
Played this on PC when it came out. When I saw it was on iPad, I gave it a shot but didn’t really didn’t expect much. Been playing on an 11inch Pro with m1 and the game just runs beautifully. There are certainly interface annoyances at times, though they are both rare and to be expected in a touchscreen format. I’ve had maybe 4 crashes in three and a half play through. This game has really revealed what’s possible with the tablet. I want, and will buy, more of this sort of thing…can we get a Pillars of Eternity port next?

Crashes on start on iPad Air 2020
My iPad is listed on the list of compatible devices, but it crashed a couple of times upon initial start. Even after rebooting my iPad, it still won’t start: gets stuck on the “Steam cross- save” dialog. Not happy at all…. UPDATE: it turns out that the game was crashing because of the Logitech Folio Touch keyboard connected to my iPad. After deleting the game, reinstalling, disconnecting the keyboard, and starting the game with no keyboard attached, everything seems ok now, even after re-connecting the keyboard. So if anyone if having the same issue, try to disconnect any peripheral upon initial start.

Needs better touch
Couple problems with touch made me ask for a refund yo buy it on a switch, the controller controls are find, but i didnt buy an ipad to play controller based games….. The touch controls could have been far superior but they didnt do that, they gave use the console controls or the pc click based controls (on touch based device) it feels like if you put windows on an iphone if you know what that means great, if not well windows is made for a mouse it not a touch screen. Fixes touch d pad for movement, the click and move just doesnt work on a ipad, it’s not immersive or responsive enough. But if you add a dpad please do not remove the touch and move, let us decide to keep it on or off. Sometimes it be cool to click across the distance and walk but in combat the touch controls f stuff up, trying to click near a fire and a safe spot isnt easy enough so thr dpad can help for combat. Let us decide to make it small or bigger and adjust its transparency and weather if resets when we touch or if it stays in the same spot

Good game, map button on controller broken
Edit: Updated my review to five stars because the developer fixed the issue i mentioned and responded! I see a review from someone with a Nimbus controller who can not open the map with the select button. I have the same issue with a 8bitdo SN30 pro+. I really hope they fix it. I can’t open the map with touch control because controller connected overrides touch inputs... Otherwise it is really a charm on the iPad Pro 2020. Leagues above switch on graphics. Quite nice to set up at a cafe and get some D:OS2 in.

Error: FIXED
After the tutorial I keep getting an error “resources exceed maximum limit” on the download screen and it won’t download the rest of the game.. FIX: To fix this, play the tutorial for 1-2 hours. The main download will run in the background. If you complete the tutorial, it will open the download screen and stop downloading. You can just start the game and leave it open for a few hours. It’s a big download 20+gb.. So take your time in the tutorial.

Game good but I quit before finishing
The game itself is great, especially for iPad. This should be the example of what iPad gaming can accomplish. It’s a very well-loved and played game and will most likely go down as a classic. BUT there are absolutely massive bugs in the last act. As other reviewers have mentioned, the game crashes regularly when in the last act. Most of the times it crashes when you save the game, which after completing a very challenging 1 hour long fight, becomes extremely frustrating. Like I said, the game itself is very good, and the first 3/4 are amazing, but there must be a fix to the constant crashing.

Great Game!
The great is a great experience. Love the story and different variations based on character. There are a few bugs when it comes to the iPad: occasionally touch becomes unresponsive for about 15 seconds, sometimes you hav to turn the camera angle to be able to highlight something, occasional lag. The one feature they really need to add is the ability to create custom characters from the start of the game by yourself, not relying on someone else to join your game. This is a feature that has been requested for years and they blatantly ignore it.

Great game, but crashes upon switching to other apps
This is an excellent iPad port of one of the best RPGs out there. Great story, graphics, with challenging combat. The only complaint I have is that the game crashes whenever I do a full-screen swap into certain other apps like Messages or Firefox browser. If you’re having this issue and wish to avoid it, I noticed that crashes don’t happen if you’re doing app overlay (e.g. using those apps as a window over top of the game). This prevents lost progress and having to sit through the boot up screen over and over again.

Can’t advance past the very first dialogue
Once they game starts, there is a small windows that opens up where Magister Siwan says “ Still a little bit groggy, are we”. Underneath it, it shows the picture of the Red Prince and 1 (Continue). Ive spent over an hour now trying to navigate past that. I clicked the number 1, clicked around the screen, zoomed in and out, pressed every tool. Not possible to move forward. The instructions say it wont work with certain iPads, but that’s about all the prerequisites that are shown. I do have an IPad that this game will work on. Do i need a controller too? If so, why is it not specified? No instructions on then developer’s website either. For $25, purchasing this was a big leap of faith that didn’t pan out.

Wow
Just an FYI, I promise I am one of the 400 nerds and not a review bot. But this is amazing! It is crossplay with PC so I can play from bed, the graphics are better than that of the Switch (yes I bought this game 3 times, shut up), the controls are easy to get used to, my only 2 complaints are summoning on smallish surfaces feels bugged when it comes to blood/fire/water/etc surfaces, and I still have no clue how to share my inventory in online play. But I recommend for the small niche of divinity fans who own a moderniPad

Great game, buggy controls and crashes
Running on a 2018 iPad Pro. Load times take a while but it’s understandable given the hardware. I crash to desktop more and more it seems and there’s some severe frame drop/stuttering in moore populated areas or battles with lots of AoE stuff going on. Also touch controls can be pretty abysmal at times. Trying to tap on fast moving animals like squirrels and rats is way more difficult than it should be. Also items in menus from vendors just straight up don’t register clicks. Fantastic game hampered by some issues that will hopefully be patched going forward.

Wonderful game, glad it came to the iPad
I’ve loved this game on PC/Mac for a long time and always hoped it would come to the iPad. I’m glad to see we are getting the full experience, and the modifications for touch seem pretty well thought out, though keyboard/mouse still provides a smoother experience even on the iPad (on the other hand, touch is good and would be ideal for on-the-go gaming.) I do wish we had a gamma slider, that would be a great thing to see in a future update.

I’ve heard it’s great but I can’t play it
I’ve heard absolutely amazing things about this port, but I literally cannot leave the tutorial because the option to "throw" items doesn’t exist, and I can’t control which direction I drop something, so I am completely unable to get through the bottom decks and open the door to the prisoner cells. With how absolutely stellar the reviews are for this port, I am figuring I’m missing something simple but I have looked high and low, and I can’t find the controls on how to do this with a touch screen, nor does the internet have anything to say about it. Please help, I want to give a good review but as of right now, I literally can’t play the game and I just wasted $30.

Well...
seems to be some memory issues- I have over 30gb free, and it fails to occasionally load sounds for skills. Also, upon leaving tutorial boat, it wouldn’t load act 1 because it said I need 1.32gb download and didn’t have enough space, which with over 30gb free, i certainly did. After clearing up some space anyway, it turns out it was actually a 13gb download (which i still had space for)...but now it works?

This version needs some more work
I absolutely love DoS2, one of the greatest games ever made. However before I can rate this app five stars, Larian will need to do some more bug fixes. My audio bugs out, sound effects for a lot of combat maneuvers don’t play, and some self targeting abilities will not function unless I attempt to target another creature first. There are a few other things I’ve noticed, and this has just been on the tutorial ship. Once they get these things matched out, I will be the first person to come back and change my rating to five stars!

Great game but inappropriate port, iPad Air heat issue
Game is good, voice, story, spell system, map explore and especially graphics (but the biggest problem is also caused by advanced graphics). Being a classic RPG lover I would give the game five star. However I don’t think iPad is a suitable port for the game. After two hour game play, the iPad almost felt like a brazier. I have to pour some water on it to cool it off. I think the game will severely shorten my iPad Air’s life span if I continue to play. I played many other games,Wild Rift, Baldur’s Gate 2,Gacha games… but no game makes my iPad into a heat pan like this one.

Such a beautiful port!
This game looks and runs every bit as good on my 2018 iPad Pro as it does on my expensive gaming PC. Definitely a huge improvement over the Switch version; though it’s certainly a battery hog if there ever was one. Small price to pay to have current gen AAA gaming on mobile. Exciting times ahead for iOS gaming, with this as a new benchmark. It’s convinced me that no modern game is too demanding for this amazing platform.

Excellent port, some interface issues
(Played on iPad Air 4 primarily with touch controls) The game is beautiful and runs smoothly, it really is a “no compromises port”. There are few other games of this caliber available on iPad, it’s great fun as a tactical RPG. The touch controls are pretty good, though I’ve run into a couple interface glitches so far: - getting stuck in “searching” mode for loot that prevents you from moving (saving and restarting the game resolves this) - finicky spell targeting if you tap vs tap and swipe a bit - apple pencil seems to only control camera not game interface, which is a shame because it would help with smaller tap targets I expect they’ll fix the issues eventually since the game has only just been released. Magic keyboard works fine and but you seem to need to reload the game for it to be recognized.

Beautiful
This is easily one of the best looking iPad games on the App Store. I bought the game for the new M1 12.9 inch Pro and I’m blown away with how this game looks. The screenshots don’t do this any justice. With that said, be prepared for your iPad to get hot fast. This pushes what even the new iPad Pro can handle. The touch controls can definitely use some more work. The controls can be unresponsive at times. All in all, it’s a fun game. I hope we can eventually get newer AAA games on the iPad which is desperately needs.

Fix Mirror Respec Glitch
There is a glitch if you use the mirror respec at the bottom of the Lady Vengeance in Act 2. It happened the second time I used it some 47 hours into the game. Your character portrait gets these weird black splotches that won’t ever go away. Searching online, this has been a known bug since 2017. The workarounds are available for the PC only, and they involve toggling some graphical settings off and on. The iPad version has no ability to change ANY graphical settings, so there is no way around this bug. If you use the respec mirror, your character portrait looks like you have the plague. Fix this 7-year-old known bug!

No Compromises is a bit of a stretch.
I like the game a lot, but it crashes constantly. I’m on the M1 iPad Pro 12.9, and it turns my device into a space heater as well as causing frequent crashes. There is very real potential here, but the crashing issue is concerning, among other small complaints that other people have brought up like fiddly onscreen buttons and slow scrolling. In short, it needs work. I admire the ambition inherent in the fact that it exists on the iPad at all, but at the moment it’s very full of compromises.

Love this game but 2 issues..
I’ve played this on PC and loved every minute of it. This was an instant buy. Giving 4 stars because the cursor speed is unbelievably slow and key binds do not work when the iPad is connected to the Magic Keyboard. There is an option in the settings to change the bindings but all keys are not recognized in game unless you are typing in chat. Hopefully this is a bug. Solid 5 star once cursor speed and key binds are fixed.

The game itself is amazing. However, trying to play with touch is frustrating. You have to have a controller or keyboard and mouse to really enjoy this and I’ve had issues with the mouse changing from the game cursor to the iPad cursor so the game stops responding or it shows both and the controls are off and only responds half of the time. It REALLY needs Apple Pencil support. If that could be just treated like another finger as opposed to it responding but not selecting anything that would make this port immensely better.

Do you like Baldur’s Gate 3?
If you have played Baldur’s Gate 3 and love it, you will love Divinity 2. This is the game that re-defined the turn-based genre. You will find many of the elements in BG3 here in D2. This is an amazing game. An even more amazing game to play on iPad. I have purchased this game on PS4, Switch and now my iPad Pro. By far my favorite way to play this game is on iPad. Great game. Constantly crashes during fights.
I can still get through fights if I make very liberal use of Quick Saving during. Crashes seem to occur more often when there’s lots of fire or other effects. Crashes are always preempted by the sound cutting out, giving me just enough time to save. Additionally, this is the first game I’ve ever seen that still drains the battery, even when the iPad is plugged in. I’m using the latest iPad Air (2020) with 64 GB storage. With the crashes fixed, it’s a five out of five.

Except for one time, I have not been able to start the game. Won’t get passed the launch screen. After a 2 hour session, saved and went to play again later that same day- app won’t even launch. Since the new update, my iPad has been feeling as if it’s on fire when playing. Also, the double tap isn’t working when trying to do anything. IT’s making it difficult to play. When trying to buy or sell anything I am having to close out of the game and go back into it to sell on item. I’m not sure what’s going on, but I sure wish I could fix it.

Game Claims I Need Free More Space
Love the game but I can’t get passed the first act (ship tutorial) as the game claims I need free up more hard drive space to download 13GB more; I have 190GB free!!! I proceeded to offload 15GB of different games. When I restarted the game and arrived at the same point, it claimed I needed to clear even more space! Very frustrating as I can’t play more than 10 minutes of the game due to this glitch! (2018 iPad Pro 12.9 with 512GB of storage)

Not for me
I am a real-time strategy guy but this game looked so good I figured I give it a try. Graphics are excellent. But I failed badly. Couldn’t get out of the tutor because I could not open the doors. I found 1 key and it opened 1 door. Could not seem to use it for the other doors and could not find anymore keys. So I am already stuck. Almost bought it on Steam for PC. Probably should have as there are a lot of tutors on Steam. Hey Larian Studios. Help me with this and I will change my rating. Thanks.

Tempted to refund
To be fair I have only played the intro ship bit but I am unable to progress because the download which happens afterwards won’t complete. I’m playing on an iPad Air 4 and the latest Xbox controller. Nice, but don’t touch the screen or it may kick the controller; no option to restore in-game, that requires a trip to the main menu. Maybe I should just download the game again… I can tell if it worked as intended this review would be ringing in at 5 stars.

I want to like this but the controls are trash
The battle controls are the worst in this game. Any icon on the hot tray is almost never usable. Want to cast a spell or have a special attack? Too bad. You can drag the icon, but you can’t use it. It ruined the game so bad for me I deleted it twice. Same issue with bartering. Dragging items into the sales pane is a pain..it works about 15% of the time. Until these are fixed, I’ll never know how the game itself is.
