Dobby for your home

Dobby is simply fantastic. After moving into a new house, I was exasperated by how long it was taking to get projects done, in large part because it often wasn’t easy to post a job to a marketplace of thoroughly vetted pros, and even in cases where that was possible, communication wasn’t usually very good. I’ve now done a half-dozen jobs with Dobby, and every professional I’ve contacted through Dobby has been outstanding, and really easy to reach. Alex and her team from Dobby actually check in to make sure that projects are moving along swiftly and to see if you need any help. Their personal customer service is fast and outstanding; it truly feels like they care about solving any problem you have. Basically, most of the annoying stuff about home projects is streamlines with Dobby, and the prices have been cheaper than I expected. I’ll be a loyal Dobby user for a long time. Dobby is more than a home maintenance app, it’s a community of experts that can help you with almost anything you need for your house. I’ve been using Dobby for over a year now and I’ve been impressed. I’ve been impressed with those that operate the app who are responsive to homeowner concerns and questions, and I’m impressed at the quality of the people they have in their system. To date I haven’t had any issues with any of the things we’ve needed done on our house. The prices that the contractors charge are pretty fair and dobby doesn’t slap you with a crazy high % for using their services. Additionally, the admins at dobby will be honest and if there’s nobody in their system designed to handle the project you want, they’ll let you know. That doesn’t happen often, but they won’t just send some guy to do work they aren’t trained or knowledgeable in. The app is easy to use and they continue to update it with new services and abilities. The only thing that I would like to see integrated would be the ability for multiple contractors to provide estimates on your project, if it’s a big project. That way we don’t need to ask for multiple quotes, it’s something we could select in the project submitting process. I highly recommend this app to any homeowner that has trouble doing housework themselves.

I was reluctant to hire through a referral service after mixed success with three different ones over decades of home ownership, but the reviews were good on and my time is scarce. I used only one of the three referral services a second time, but the cost is double and I have returned to hiring an individual directly for this routine bi-monthly service. I would definitely use Dobby again. Dobby is different because the cost was reasonable, compared to hiring on my own, and I had two people helping me, not just the one to do the work, but also another to schedule the work. Dobby is available not only to communicate issues like delays in arrival, but also to troubleshoot during the service itself.

For me, the most annoying part of getting things done around our house is having to research all the professionals in the area who provide the service, contact them, get quotes, and actually schedule the work. Dobby does all of the hard parts for you! If you want to be able to compare multiple quotes, you can’t do that with Dobby. But if you have an idea of around what you’re willing to pay for something and you want someone quick and professional picked for you, Dobby will help you get it done! We have used this app for multiple projects — tree stump removal, TV mounting, and a plumbing project — and have had fantastic and quick service every time!

I’m not even sure where to start, we needed a tremendous amount things to be addressed. And we were very fortunate to find Dobby. They took all of the stress of organizing, strategy, and execution and simplified it with just a few clicks. The folks at Dobby are one of a kind, and the technology behind it was next level. We successfully were able to get an entire kitchen remodeled, outdoor deck squared away, bedrooms updated, and bathrooms all transformed to our liking. Dobby steps in and figures out all of the difficult parts of owning a house. When something goes wrong (and it always does) all you have to do is open up the Dobby app, send a few photos and tell them what you need help with. Dobby figures out the rest. You can communicate with a contractors, schedule, and Dobby sets everything up. You even pay workers through the app—no awkward cash or credit card exchanges. Seriously love this app. Makes my life so much easier. I’ve done a ton of jobs and have been happy with all of the work too.

Dobby is clearly the best way to do home services and renovations. Such a helpful team, best of the best pros, cutting edge with tools like check the price that not only gives an Ai powered price insights - but educates me about the job. And Dobby gets things done for me without my thinking or doing or worrying about anything. They literally manage everything from start to finish with quality guarantee. Also love that I can request any small jobs like mirror mounting as well as big projects like bathroom upgrades on Dobby.

I have used Dobby for many home projects and repairs like electricity, curtain, HVAC…Dobby provides everything I need. And I love the transparency and customer-centric service. They are always there to answer my questions, and do everything to make sure I receive a high quality service. I don’t need to worry about any hidden fees. Dobby could also solve potential issues on the projects. What’s more, the team is extremely helpful with complex and urgent requests, like looking for a rare part of HVAC. I am the type of person who likes to shop around for quotes but also hate making phone calls. Dobby makes it so easy to get quotes with just a few clicks, and scheduling and communication is a breeze. Every contractor they’ve sent has been great in terms of getting the job done at a reasonable cost. Also, I recently learned that Alex is a real person — she’s so quick and responsive that I was sure she was AI!

I had an ok experience with one rep, but I was able to find multiple much better referrals from friends and neighbors. If it were a service I couldn’t find from friends or neighbors or if I were new to an area and didn’t know who to ask yet I think this would be great. The one thing I really didn’t like though was that it connected me to the fastest responding person, rather than giving me options with reviews. I did not like having the app choose for me. More importantly since I decided this wasn’t for me I want to delete my PII data from their system and delete my account, and I can’t find ANY documentation to figure out how to do that. Very concerning.

Staring down the barrel of home improvements and house work…I thought the entire process would be difficult. Working with the Dobby team was anything but. They were knowledgeable, insightful, patient with my silly questions, and found local businesses to work with who were within my price range. 10/10 overall and will use again!!!

We’ve used Dobby to hire for five jobs so far and will keep on using it to find pros for home projects. Since the pros have lower overhead than with a big company (all those customer service reps and fancy trucks and websites to pay for!) they can charge a fairer price. They also have more control over their schedules so the techs who’ve come to my home seem happier and more motivated to do good work.

We’ve used Dobby for many jobs around our house and I’ve found it so easy to use. It is never easy to find a handy man, especially one willing to do smaller jobs that I need help with. This app has been really helpful since we started becoming homeowners. Usually there’s a lot of back-and-forth with negotiation. You’re not sure what kind of work the person will do. Dobby helps kind of cut all of that out and you pretty much know what you’re going to pay upfront and all the service workers have been been pretty good. Definitely recommend trying it.

I’m not very handy and it is so convenient to have Dobby arrange for someone to come fix what needs fixing. I’ve used them for everything from painting to drywall fixes to adding a new bedroom door, removing something that went down the drain and more. Definitely recommended.

This is a referral and payment app. The price estimation, documentation, and messaging features in the app are lacking. They charge 3% service fee… for a referral. No reminders to pay until I received an email at 1030pm from the COO (on a MLK holiday): “Can you please submit that payment today? We will be sending any outstanding payments to collections by EOD tomorrow.”

Once they have your information you will never be able to stop the incessant mailings! They finally responded and removed my information, thank you.

The Dobby app itself is tasteful and very user friendly, however the contractor sent to my home (flooring) was subpar. Consumer beware: when you put a request through the app and they do not have a vendor for it, they keep you waiting (days) and send someone out with minimal experience, but write a decent sounding bio for the “pro”.

They rely on the mis-classification of contractors and avoid labor laws by doing so. Very misleading and dishonest just like Task Rabbit, Thumbtack , DoorDash, Turo, Lyft etc. they exploit and mislead the 1099 contractors that work for them. When I asked about the TOS they promptly deleted my account. Do not get in bed with these scammers! They treat contractors like employees and pay them like independents
