Flawless flight on 11 acres. Watch that landing!

I’d like to get my drone up in the sky at elevation before I start the flight plan. Put the camera down focus take a picture then start the flight plan. Everything went great today even with 10 mile an hour breeze. Changing batteries on the first landing the drone was off by about 20 feet and landing and some brush. I’m sure it would’ve stopped but, why wait. I took control and brought it over to the landing point manually. Changing batteries was no problem, put the drone up to altitude once again and continue the flight. Now it’s all in the processing.

Automation; be careful.

First time user thoughts. The app is pretty easy to get into. There are some weird bugs with battery swapping. The app gets a brain freeze and there is no on screen notification of what is going on. Some times the drone would just sit there after i selected go fly. At one point i knelt down to pick it up to bring it to the bench and the propellers spun up. So some sort of app feedback on what it is attempting to signal to the drone would be an improvement. Second issue i had, the app would crash or go to my phones home screen during a flight. When this would happen i couldn’t get the app back on and displaying anything. The app would just load to a blank blue screen. One time the app opened and stated asking me survey questions. All while my drone was flying. That was my biggest concern. Once the flight is complete uploading the photos was pretty easy. Seems like patience is key here. Just have to wait a day or so for the terrain model and map to generate after uploading the photos. The result is fabulous. My favorite part of the system is choosing AGL altitude mode where the app automatically flys a set height above the terrain. This is great for hilly areas and avoiding flights that might be too high otherwise. Overall this is a snap, but be very careful with your inputs and keep your finger on the mode switch or you could end up with a automatically crashed drone.

One start just because there aren’t a lot of other options

I’ve been using a Mavic 2 and GSPro for a while, but with the recent firmware update with Remote ID, it was no longer supported, so I had to use DroneDeploy. This app fails on numerous fronts…It FAILS to resume a mission if more than one battery is required. When I try to exit automatic landing, it still persists, even if I close the application and disconnect my iPad - PILOTS BE WARNED OF IMPRECISE AND AGGRESSIVE LANDINGS!! Be ready to manually catch a fast descending drone. I attempted to set the camera settings in DJI GO4, but drone deploy overrode the parameters anyway and used a shutter speed WAY too low for mapping that resulted in my imagery having motion blur. It also fails to capture the required images at the preprogrammed overlap, which makes basic mapping unbelievably challenging. I used an iPad Gen6 running the latest iOS, but the app is extremely slow if I’m lucky enough for it not to crash at all. I’m not sure how anybody is having any success with this application. Unfortunately Pix4D capture just doesn’t have a lot of settings to control…

Decent but I have issues

I love the usability of the application and I like the desktop-tablet interface. I like the outputs also as most of them have been pretty high quality. Issues: 1. Application crash while using IPad. I usually have between 10 and 15 minutes of flight time in mission before the application crashes. When Inget it up again it’s doesn’t allow me to jump back into my active mission, which is not as big of an issue as the crashing itself. Due to the application crashing periodically (sometime multiple times in a 20minute window) I have crashed multiple drones. 😡 2. The other issue is related to my ability to edit my missions on my iPad out in the field. For whatever reason it 80%of the time it will not let me move my flight mission boundaries. I also find this extremely frustrating as I have also crashed 2 drones because of this. I make make of forest land and if I can’t adjust the boundaries then the likely hood of me flying into branches from trees outside of the boundary is very high. If your are not flying in a forested area, this application seems like it would be amazing. But with the weird things I have run into in my field of work have severely frustrated me. I wish drone deploy would update these issues so that I can have a trustworthy and reputable application to work with.

Great app and company

I’ve used Drone Deploy several times now. The software is very intuitive and easy to use even for a beginner. What sets them apart is their customer service and investment in education. Their reps are proactive and very helpful by reaching out and making sure you have what you need. They’re also very receptive to questions and feedback. The company and software system is top notch!

Won’t work with iOS 14

I had a mission to run after the iOS 14 install. All set up as usual in the website version to push to my devices. I tried to get the app to open on both my iPhone X and iPad Pro. It just keeps staying on the blue screen startup and then stopping and shutting the app down. This is even with the new update from yesterday. I have tried reloading and rebooting my devices with the same results. Very disappointed as I have used this app for over 3 years for sites and farming inspections. This is a very bad time for it to not work and I am going to have to look to other software if not fixed quickly with current agriculture work I am doing.

Drone flight losing gps signal

Recently I have had issues with the drone stalling out and losing signal during the flight. It lets you bring it home but it won’t let you finish the flight. The app used to be perfect and by far my favorite but it has bugs with the new updates. Another problem I keep having is the app freezes during flight so your not sure where you are or where it’s taking pictures. It still takes the pictures but it be nice to be able to know where you are on the map and how much battery you have left, etc...

Best Flight App

I have been using the DroneDeploy app for over 3 years. I manage a large group of pilots and being able to plan flights on my desktop and then have my pilots in the field automatically sync the plan is amazing. I have flown with all of the flight apps out there and have always come back to DroneDeploy for the simplicity and reliability. Great job!

One issue

When you fly multiple projects per day, sometimes one project will not fully upload and will put each following project on hold. There should be an option to see which jobs are pending instead of having to manually search each individual project until you find the one stuck uploading

Needs work on bugs

As a professional drone pilot this app is really useful and I’ve used it over the years. It’s always had bugs and glitches and they seem to get more frustrating time goes on. The resume feature almost never works I’ve had it just stop on mission right in the middle for no reason and just hang up. It’s not always clear on exactly what it’s doing. When it works it’s great but it needs polished

Satisfying

Dronedeploy has a sleek interface making it extremely easy to use for all users. They offer many tutorials as well to help out those who may not be as familiar. It pairs well with all DJI products and allows you to do more than you would have ever dreamed of. I am very satisfied with Drondeploy.

Unsafe on P4P

If you have to do multiple maps and one flight this app does not WORK. Trying the second flight freezes the app to the point where I have to restart all systems. So many bugs that will not recognize the drone. On top of that I had a situation where the drone completely lost GPS signal mid-flight/mission and lost control. This is never happened to me with any other mapping app. Also, there is no way to manually land the drone once you’re mission is complete. It defaults to automatic landing which can be dangerous. I will be using a different app from now on.

Awesome capabilities horrible reliability

I have used drone deploy for many years now and have really enjoyed the capabilities of this app but there are times when the app crashes, freezes and other times where we have had drones fly away or fall out of the sky. This has never happened while using the DJI go4 app which makes me believe that the drone deploy app it’s self has an issue. There are many bugs that can be fixed and improved.

Missing flight logs and live view

The app functions well enough. However, I’m having two issues: 1)when flying there is usually no live view. It only shows a black screen, but it is still taking the photos. 2) I use Airdata to sync my flight records and recently DroneDeploy has not been able to sync my logs as they do not seem to exist. Help? Thanks!

Solid and dependable

We’ve used DroneDeploy for over 100 flights - for Mapping, Video, and Panos. The app sets the overlap automatically and I process and share with my team using the cloud software for site progress reports. Recommended you take a look. Meets my needs well - you get what you pay for.

Flight

The best flight planning, mapping and analysis software I’ve used. Very easy to program flights and export data to AutoCAD. Easily create profiles, Point clouds and it even can auto tag GCPs. Have not regretted the move from previous software.

Needs more drone options.

I love the ease of use of this app but I set up my route for my drone to fly then I hit go and it said “controller unsupported” or something like that. So I go to their supported drones list and my DJI Spark is not on there. I would change this to 5 stars if it supported Dji Spark. If the creators are seeing this PLEASE add support for it. I manually took photos and it turned out pretty good but it would definitely be better if the app could autonomously do the mapping its self. PLEASE add support for the DJI spark.

DroneDeploy app

I’ve used Drone Deploy for a year and the mapping is really easy and precise. Over flying a construction site or a row crop for visual progress analysis is amazing. To be able to pre program the flights with your desktop is a game changer. I highly recommend Drone Deploy.

Poor investment

Unfortunately, I have had a very poor experience with DroneDeploy since I became an Enterprise client in May of 2020. I encounter more issue than not when flying linear routes. I brought up that the Matrice 210 V2 is no longer supported by DJI on IOS and their support team is still telling me it’s supported. My account manager ignored my calls and emails for almost a month now... I had to call the main line to get a response. This has been my worst experience with a tech company in over a decade.

Falling short

Too many changes to the app. Hard to keep up with the changes. Some changes have been for the worst. Once a great app.

Camera view doesn’t work with Mavic 2 Pro

I would give 5 stars because it’s a great app, but whenever I use it with my Mavic 2 the camera view is always just a black screen and nothing I do resolves the issue. It still takes the pictures just fine but I can’t see the camera view.

Ok for beginners

The app runs smooth but lacks in ability. Sales people over promised and refused refund. Be careful. * update* Observe their response below, this is all the customer service you will get. All flattery but no real action. Save yourself the headache. Buy agisoft metashape or pux4D to stitch your own images. Then work directly with the other companies that provide the apps you see in drone deploy App Store.

GPS Sinaloa lost error

Drone deploy sent out a signal saying GPS lost. Drone still returned home and had gps signal

App just keeps crashing

Trying to fill out section collecting information about name, business etc. but the app seems to just crash and revert back to a white screen before showing an"starting" screen before repeating the behavior. Never even got a chance to try out the app.

Best in Class

Actually there are no other flight apps in the same class. Even the other solutions that fly and process do not allow for the functionality that DroneDeploy has on the apps for collaboration and analysis on the website.

Updates

Depending upon what update version DD distributes, you could have very useful app, or you can have an app that reloads if ever in the background, doesn’t reload, or simply freezes on video and location feedback. Once upon a time this worked quite well, but now I am forced to waste 1/4 to 1/2 a battery struggling to get back to my maps.

Very limited support. Good luck getting a person to actually talk to. Does not work with all drone models. When it works with your model it works well.

Broken with last update

Has always been the best drone control app, but it is unusable after the last update. I’m flying a Phantom 4 on an iPad mini 4, and the software starts slowing down as soon as I take off. Within a couple minutes it becomes totally unresponsive. Please fix this as soon as possible! I hope drone deploy returns to glory soon!

DO NOT USE

This software will run an autonomous flight of your drone to collect data. However, it bypasses the ability to create a trackable flight log. My drone was lost due to a software issue on their end. The support team offers no support and I am out of a drone. Stay away if you want to keep your drone.

Ok, first off, I just want to sign in. But they ask for my company. I don’t own a company but I wanna sign in. So now I can’t sign in for this, since I don’t work for or own a company. So now I’m stuck with a terrible app that barely works for my drone, all cause I can’t sign in for this. I can’t log in cause I haven’t tried this before, so now I can’t fricken use it.

Air 2S issues

No matter what I do, my Air 2S keeps freezing during a mission - saying “Calibrating Camera Focus”. I’ve been in contact with DJI support for over a week going through all kinds of tests and even calibrated with DJI Assist to no avail. They his app is now useless to our needs. Really disappointing.

Inconsistent - not reliable

Camera view frequently does not work. Randomly freezes or glitches. Missions will glitch halfway through creating mismatched maps.

Pretty Disappointed

Yes there is a data crunch for stand counts but cmon…. The cloud is slow, the iPad quits the app with no background apps, it has been problem after problem these 2 years… do better please.

Over Heats Newer IPad

I have been a user for 5 years and every so often, I have to fully delete the app and reinstall to alleviate the overheating. Today I reinstalled 3 times but just keeps getting hot. Have to fly with iPad on an ice pack
