DTA Connect

Ever since the new update this year now requiring you to put in your email and password it’s annoying and is not like any other apps that are out in 2023. We should be able to use our face to open up the app or fingerprint and not have to type an email and password every single time. Or at the very least give us an option to save our email and password so it will remember it when we go to log in. Saves a lot of time especially when your in line trying to buy groceries and you have to check quick what your balance is - it’s just not as easy as it should be especially that we’re living in 2023 - it’s almost how all major apps operate. One other thing that would be a huge improvement would be allowing us to see what money is going out and where it’s being spent at. Should be able to see all your transactions just as you would on a debit or credit card. That would help people and family’s manage there money better if they saw were it was actually going. Please take these things into consideration. They are very small and reasonable changes that should be easy enough to make happen on DTA’s end. Thanks

As an IT professional, I’m compelled to bring attention to critical compatibility and accessibility issues with the DTA Connect app on iPhone 14 and subsequent models, including the iPhone 15. The app’s interface design does not seamlessly align with the display characteristics of these newer models. This misalignment is particularly challenging for users who depend on accessibility features. Key functional elements like the ‘Submit’ button are obscured by the iPhone’s status bar, including cellular, WiFi, and battery indicators. This overlap significantly hampers usability, especially for those with visual or motor impairments. The ‘Cancel’ button, masked by the time display, further exacerbates accessibility challenges. Additionally, the stretched layout of the bottom section disrupts the app’s visual integrity, potentially affecting users who utilize screen readers or magnification tools. These interface issues are not just inconveniences; they represent a significant barrier to inclusivity and accessibility. An update to enhance compatibility with iPhone 14 and later models is urgently needed to ensure the app is accessible and functional for all users.

When it first was introduced it worked great…but since this new update, and the new login username/password implant, it’s impossible to even login! the only thing that makes it useful now is being able to upload documents they need so you don’t have to spend all day waiting at the office! It’s so unreliable the past month, it’s insane…i even somehow was logged into some 67 yr old man’s account out of nowhere using my info, I was able to see all his information and I was appalled!!! Contacted them and no response about it 🤷🏼‍♀️ I haven’t been able to even log in for over 3 weeks because Error “we are experiencing technical difficulties, try again later” smh…when I’m waiting in line at checkout, I do not find it convenient to call the number on the back of the card, type in long numbers ect etc, I have major anxiety to begin with after going grocery shopping lol

I have used this app with no issues for a few months, but today, the day i write this review I literally logged in to the wrong persons account at complete random, and it shows me their balance and information. I do not know if this was a glitch, or I accidentally entered the wrong social and they just happened to have the same date of birth, regardless perhapse a 4 digit pin or something could help prevent issues like this from occurring.

Update: Recent update not only didnt add anything new or security for log in, but it downgraded the app. It use to work in landscape mode on ipad and now it doesnt, and the layout is bigger and bulkier, it looks like one of those old apps now. I dont understand why anyone would downgrade app features like this. Please fix it and please add security pin for log in as mentioned below. Prev review: I really do love this app, it works great and makes things so much easier, my only concern and its becoming a big one is how unsecure the log in is, it only needs your social and birth year wich in my case my ex husband knows both and he and his girlfriend log on and see all my personal info, letters sent, ect.... I really cant believe they dont let you set up a pin or password for this app. There is no way to safegaurd your privacy because the only 2 things you need to log in are things that can not be changed. They need to add a password or pin to make this secure. That is the only thing keeping this from a 5 star review to me. I have not had any of the other issues others have mentioned. The lack of ability to store your log in to Face ID or a keychain of any kind is obnoxious. Now people have many passwords and log ins and keeping them straight is a pain if you have to write them somewhere to look back on or keep resetting thing if you forget. Face ID should be allowed or at least a phone number pin sent for verification something that keeps up with security but also ease of access. Also you can not see what you paid for or if there is pending transaction or refund to card or even if you get money back incentive for buying healthy food. It should be straightforward to allow an app to show money movement etc.

One would think they would update this app to be more easily able to login without needing to re-input your login info every single time. That’s the biggest downfall. The only good thing about this app is that you can upload documents directly to a case manager for review. So I keep the app for that purpose alone but I have found a better one in the Apple App Store just in order to check my daily EBT balance without constantly needing to re-login. It’s called “Propel” formerly called (Providers). It has an orange circle 🟠 for the app icon and is filled of good info on a bunch of other resources as well. So I highly recommend downloading it.

I can’t even get logged in. When I put in my SS# and DOB it keeps saying “device not authorized”. Not sure what that’s about. It’s an app and it’s available on the platform for download. I thought it was because my case was still pending, but once I got approved, I still can’t use it. I deleted it and re-downloaded it and I still can’t get logged in. I’m not sure where the issue is, but if I have to call and get permission to use the app then that’s madness because the personal info that’s requested should link up to my account. Oh well! I’ll try calling again and if the hold time is ridiculous, then I’ll just delete the app. I can log in online, but not the app. 💁🏽‍♀️

The app is of very poor quality. It’s usefulness & convenience goes without saying. However, 7.5/10 times I try to sign in & get the “We’re experiencing technical difficulties”. I receive that message more than I’m allowed to log in & I swear that’s not an over exaggeration. I don’t know if I’m consistently unlucky & happen to always try logging in at the wrong times; but it’s extremely annoying & I’ve been considering just removing the app entirely lately since I always have to end up calling to check my Balance & relying on the mail to send/receive documents. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling multiple times.

Not sure why this app has been giving other folks problems. I downloaded it, took pictures for the upcoming certification and 2 days later everything was processed and done. I like that it’s super easy and gives me the current status of my case so I’m not waiting around wondering if they have received my stuff or not. Definitely my go-to method for submitting forms in the future.

I have been using this app for years & have never had a problem. Now the app is changed & supposedly better for us but for me it’s been totally worse. I cannot sign in at all. I put my social security # in then my date of birth & absolutely nothing happens. I’ve tried at least 50 times. Sometimes things are better left alone. If it’s not broke-don’t fix it. I have no idea what to do. It’s definitely gonna be a pain in the neck to have to call the toll free # on the back of the card to get my balance. I feel like we’re back in 1950. Plz fix the problem.

I jus got so much trouble since the update of this app, it’s crazy stupid login in errors and it must be vertically viewed now what is worse called on phone was on hold 45mins a live person picks up says hold on please as she disconnects my call and now office is closed! Mailed my resort to Chelsea DTA 2weeks latter p.o. stamped not accepted! Re mailed to Taunton DTA 2 was latter still got nothing! Uploaded as it states not too do! Jus how messed up is the state of MA ? People count on the workings of our state this is very upsetting for needy folks and I feel so sorry that many are worse off than we know of!

Sounds like state needs to invest in more tech help. I have used this app for years. Never a problem. For the past few months I have not been able to login at all. Zero. My app is up to date as is my OS, no issues with any other apps. At first I thought the site was down so I would try occasionally but it never allows me to login. Always says “ We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later”

Ever since the update I am using the phone the check my balance so much there’s no point in having the app. I put in the same information everytime I use the app and it tells me it can’t figure out the information provided. Idk why you changed the sign in settling a either. To make security better? We use an email and password now. It was safer when we had to use our ss# no logic. This app is not helpful anymore it is a headache.

Usually I have no issues logging in but sometimes there will be an authentication error randomly even though I have the correct information typed. Even if I close the app and go back to it I still have issues. Would be nice if the app worked when I need it.

A while back I opened the app to check my status for SNAP benefits and when I opened it the app logged me into someone else’s account. My main concern is privacy , I was logged into someone else’s account without doing anything , lots of important documents are uploaded to this app including social security numbers ,addresses, bills and other things . This is insanely unsafe considering that the app just LOGGED me in to someone else’s account , it makes me question how safe my information is on here .

Not accurate , I have called the actual card number and the number it told me I’ve had was off by 200$ never had an issue with this app until a couple months ago and what they tell you is the available amount is incorrect even waiting a couple days after wards it does change but it is till incorrect information . You have better luck calling the number on the back of the card or looking at receipts for your available balance . Very disappointed in this app that should be accurate.

I have had no problems with the app! Maybe it’s the phones etc I always check apps to be sure everything that needs to be on is on! That’s just my opinion! Maybe it didn’t load right! I would reload it! Just a couple of advices!

This app is helpful but I have a huge privacy concern. My information can be accessed by anyone who has my social security number and my year of birth. The other day I went to report an income change and my district landlord (Springfield Housing Authority) showed me a letter that my case worker sent ME! Why is this even possible. It’s an invasion of privacy on their end. please do a pin or a password like the online DTA connect has.

Serious Security risk using Social Security number and Date of Birth for login. If someone obtains that information they can sign in and view not only your information but other family members information as well. Not sure how this was allowed to begin with. Not like can close the account cause anyone with your SSN and DOB can sign in and view. Should be a password for sign in. Serious violation of Privacy as well. No other government online or mobile have you sign in this way. Please update for password sign in instead of SSN and DOB.

I’m giving this a 4 star because I’ve never really had a problem with this app , I’m super glad I don’t have to go into the actual office and be there for so many hours, and get all my things done , just upload pictures and bam it does it for me but sometimes it doesn’t work and it’s frustrating but I really love the app !

Ever sense the new update I can't access my account because sense I first made my account years ago my phone number and email have changed and I don't even know what to anymore and haven't been able to log into the app it says that my information is either incorrect or wrong and now it's a complete hassle up upload the verification documents or check balance , anything . Please change this !!!

Needs to go back to pin access. The email and password login in is way too inconvenient and time consuming. I know they want to protect your personal info but a hacker is gonna get it either way weither your pin it your email/password combo. Please use pin again thank you.

The app itself seems to work fine but you shouldn’t need your SS# to log in every single time. The DTA connect website uses a regular login it doesn’t make sense that you can’t just use that same login and password. Please fix this security issue.

When I went to the grocery store I checked my receipt and found out I had a lot more on my EBT card than what the app said. I also noticed that I had log in issues. Usually the error message “cannot connect to server” I give the app 3 stars, because I have no problems uploading documents.

I have downloaded the app but can not figure out how to add documents such as pay stub images and utility images. It is just a big loop sending to the website to download the app. This is so frustrating!!! You need a tab to download payroll images and another tab to download utility bill images.

I see everyone has the same problem. You go to sign in with your email address and password now and nothing happens. Now the only way I can check on my balance is to call and enter info there. Fix it.

So, there tends to be a stigma about most (if not all tools) made by the federal government. However, to my surprise app works well and has never given me any issues. On top of that, it’s well-designed from a UX point of view. Kudos to DTA!

I’ve been using the app since the pandemic started and have had no issues. I go on and try to see what my balance is but it continues to tell me that my birth year and social are wrong. It’s not a mistake I’m making. I called the help desk. It’s fine there. It’s something with the app

There never used to be a problem with logging in, but now it takes you to an external page that doesn’t even let you log in 90% of the time. A mess. The point of this app was so that I wouldn’t need to go to the website, now there’s no point if I have to sign in there anyway. I might as well just open the website in my browser.

When I go onto the App, a box pops up saying there is a new update. I then click on it and it brings me to the App Store but there is no update. Just says open. When I try to bypass the pop up and just try to login it won’t login now

I uploaded the newest version and now it constantly crashes. Most of the time it crashes right after I enter my information. I can’t even get to the first screen. It never crashed before. I gave up trying to use the app for anything important.

Your login is simply your ss# and your date of birth … how is that secure?! Not only does that compromise my personal information but that of my children as well. As a single mother, I also don’t want my ex-husband having access to my login … which of course he does considering my ss# is on all of our old tax returns. PLEASE require a PIN or password for access to such sensitive information!

All of the sudden in order for me to be able to redownload the DTA connect app it’s making me put my credit card information in? I’m not going to do that so now it won’t download! Please tell me why they need my credit card information when there’s absolutely no reason for this app to have it. Super frustrating.

I’ve been using this app for about a year and it’s been great! Saved me lots of time trying to find fax machines or driving the the DTA office. Now it is not working giving me wrong information. There is no technical support and DTA doesn’t know anything about how to fix it? Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but doesn’t work???

This app is so primitive, I can’t believe they called it an update. Putting in your email and password every time you visit an app, makes an app unnecessary as you can do the same on the site. Upgrade your app for real.

I enjoy this app because it allows me to keep track of my card and balance. But today I’m having trouble, can anyone explain why..

After this most recent update where they changed the way you log in, it stopped working. You enter your info, but it sits there for a long time before saying it can’t log you in because authentication failed. App is useless now.

Even if you had an account before you have to make a new one. It will require your Dta agency ID (Which is not supplied to you) Or the ebt card on file, which also didn’t work even though the card is under my name. extremely disappointing

I had no problem with it up until yesterday.i e been using the app for a year with no issues. Now I can’t log in. Yesterday It said my info didn’t match any cases with the DTA. Now I’m getting a message saying server could not process my request. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3x to no avail. Please fix. Super frustrating!!!

I’m new to DTA CONNECT and downloaded the app just now. The app barely works! The “next” and “submit” buttons are not working properly if they can even be accessed. :/ The app doesn’t appear to be anything like the one in the App Store PREVIEW. :( I’m not meaning to be so critical but the app is basically unusable.

For an app called DTA CONNECT you would think you’d actually be able to connect to your account, but every time I use it it seems to be “experiencing difficulties “. Great app when it works but you cannot rely on it at all.

It is worse now that they changed it it crashes and dosent let you sign it! Takes longer to sign in they need to come up with a pin so you dont have to enter your info everytimw tou log in to the thing! Or even the face or finger reconition phones come with!

I just updated today to latest version and when I sign in it does not do anything so now I can’t check my info etc….and when I call I never get anyone. They say too many calls going on or however they state it. I am very frustrated!!!

I love the process on the website, but been waiting a month for an EBT card. I’m sure due to Covid19 things are behind but it be nice to get a voice to help with this issues

I can’t see any information on the new updates. When clicking on a notice it usually says “could not retrieve information from the server”. It’s driving me crazy. I can see certain things, but if it’s a notice sent to multiple people, I can’t read it. Please fix.

Followed the prompts on the app for recertification and thought yay this is wonderful and super easy to recertify. Got a confirmation it was done. A month later, I get a letter saying I never recertified and now my benefits have been cut off. I printed and uploaded a copy and it’s been pending status ever since.

Since the update I can’t login. I’ve tried a million times.I’m worried about going to the store and not having enough money because I don’t know how much is on my card. And I don’t own another email so I couldn’t have logged in before.
