Uhm, so your app seems more geared towards news articles—and that’s great, don’t get me wrong, presenting stuff such as wars are very difficult to do and disclose very important information to the public so it’s great to have stuff like that. Just . . . as an author, it’s not as good. I was wondering if maybe the title thing could sorta flip-flop between story and news, perhaps? Also, the third-grade reading level offends me T^T (I’m half-teasing). It’s nice to know that nine-year-old’s would be able to understand it though. I was also wondering if it could be possible to have more than one document at once; and if mayhaps it’d be possible for the font to contrast more with the background, as it makes the scene more difficult to read. Other than that, I absolutely adore the app. I hope that whoever’s tasked to read this has a great day/night and can get a raise for dealing with Karens’ like me. Also, I don’t mean to be rude, but it seems that there are other apps that do similar things for free, and I was wondering if it was said in the synopsis of the app that this isn’t, because if it is, then I certainly missed it.
As a professional writer I've been using Adam and Ben Long's Hemingway Editor for some time and the concept and look and feel of this here editing app could be closely enough modeled on that app that one could maybe say that it's suspiciously close to being a possibly close to maybe might possibly be a knockoff. But I may believe I might like it maybe. Ok, real talk. I ran the above paragraph through this poor excuse for an editor. The app labeled the reading level as post-graduate. It failed to pick up even one use of the passive voice. As you can see, there is a comical use of the passive. Not a single misspelling was underlined. Not sure if that's something this app does though. It only highlighted 3 adverbs: 1 maybe, 1 possibly, and suspiciously. It did highlight the sentence as hard to read so I guess that's something. What bothers me most is Adam and Ben's Hemingway editor has been a life saver for me. I'd hate for anyone to buy this app for any reason. But I'd further hate for them to think it is in any way affiliated with the real HE. Seeing the developer's response to another negative review it's clear he doesn't have a good command on the English language. Sir, please take this embarrassing farce down. I've alerted the Long's to it's existence so maybe you better get on that chop chop before the cease and desist actually slaps you in the forehead.
I like the app, I’m pleased with the whole app but one think I hate how I can’t undo, like when you accidentally deleted something. And all you want to do it undo it so you can get it back. Yeah, accidentally deleted all my work, though I save it and then accidentally deleted it.
Now I’m not able to buy the pro version right now so I can’t really review it, but I have been using Hemingway site on my pc for a while now and it has been very useful. I feel it could benefit from adding suggestions to fix things like passive voice and examples of forceful verbs for those who are not familiar- though that could be a thing in the pro version. Anyways, Hemingway is very useful and I do plan to get the pro version when I get the money I can afford to spend.
If I paste more than 1,000 words, at a time, it crashes about half the time. Plus it lags really bad, when making corrections. Overall it is a pretty good app, but buggy. Also, they need to brighten the fonts. Unless it is highlighted, the areas that do not need correcting, are difficult to read. There are no adjustment settings either.
I am writing this review for the sole reason that this app is just amazeballs and I cannot help but scream how wonderful it is as far and wide as possible.
I downloaded it thinking it was free for the basic features, but you literally cant do ANYTHING unless you pay for the subscription. At least clearly advertise you cant use it without the in app subscription, before people download it and waste their time. I’m just disappointed because the website is free, but frequently deletes all my progress because there is no way to save.
An imposter app that steals the look and intellectual property from the Hemingway app, a free web page and inexpensive desktop application that was not created by this developer. While “free”, the Ernest app has zero functionality: every touch raises an IAP message box asking for payment to unlock the pro features. I suspect if you fell for the scam, Ernest will be a bitter disappointment. I’m doubtful any of the functionality from the Hemingway app found its way into this worthless and dishonest cash grab. Avoid!
I purchased app but it doesn’t work. At all! To begin, you must delete their sample by backspacing. This is time consuming. Then I was was unable to copy and paste to the app so I opened the web version. Here I was able to copy and paste, correct my passage but then I wasn’t able to copy and paste back. I was then offered to purchase the web version for another $20. Waste of money!
