I've enjoyed other VPN apps, and this one is barely serviceable. But it does work sometimes. The problems are threefold: 1) The app will periodically log me out (once every week or two), requiring me to log back in. 2) The password field does not accept PASTE (?!), and because I use a password manager with long passwords, I have to manually enter that very long password every time. 3) This really doesn't reliably work for P2P and most of the servers are known servers that get blocked.
I got this VPN back in 2021 and barely used it. I ended up getting a "lifetime" plan which ideally should have allowed me to connect to servers for lifetime. The developers however, are unaware of what lifetime means. With every update, they remove previous working servers and other capabilities. When I used it today to stream something, I realized that from three servers of a country they moved back to having one server which also no longer works. Seems like the initial lifetime plan was just a publicity stunt and a way for luring users in. They enabled all servers and when users signed up they removed servers. Now they have new thing called Pro subscription and they expect me to pay again on top of lifetime plan to get this garbage. After paying I am pretty sure they are gonna deprecate old servers and have Pro where you have to pay again. Soon you will realize you have paid them 100's of dollars for so-called lifetime plans and still are not able to access the VPN. LOL. I could have given 0 stars but unfortunately you can't. BUT OVERFALL DO NOT BUY THIS VPN. SAVE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY.
I bought in early to the "Lifetime" license and don't regret it. My results have been very good. My primary VPN is ProtonVPN, of which I also bought in early, establishing a "Lifetime" discount for their Premium set of services. FastestVPN isn't the actual fastest. But it works fine for my purposes, especially when ProtonVPN is evidently being hit with a DDOS attack, etc. I'm glad to have both! I'm VERY pleased to see the new additions to Fastest's features. It's progressing, which is what I want to see in VPN security! And again: I've never had it fail. I'm on a MacBook Air M1 running Sonoma v14.5.
This VPN has served me well for over couple years now, had some issues that we easily fixed for a specific use case by the customer support that gave me all the help needed. I do have the Lifetime plan and pay for the extra Pro servers for $2 a month and is well worth the cost for the convenience and works all the time. The other reviews claiming it doesn't work are simply not following the instructions. Don't pass on a great deal!
I purchased the lifetime subscription and recently wanted to use it on my Mac Mini. Needless to say upon launching I get an error message: “FastestVPN” will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash." and I'm not able to even launch it. This is unacceptable and a horible experience for a product that I frequently used for my VPN needs. Don't waste your time downloading or paying for this one!!
A few years back I baught into thier "Lifetime Deal" Now they introduce a "Pro Version" and spam me for an upgrade. I paid for a lifetime sub and littarally cannot connect to ANY servers. When I rey to connect it tells me I need a Pro subscription. The servers that were once available to me are now "Pro" and I cannot connect at all. Wonder if they are based in the US as we have laws about this type of thing.
When it works, it works great. However, it is down more than it is up and tech support usually just claims to open a ticket. I stopped reaching out for support as it would be on a daily basis. Thankfully, I also have a very reliable VPN I use as well, just slower, but has never had any of the issues I get with FastestVPN.
I purchased a lifetime sub way back when and my friends said it was dumb because they would close in a year... I trusted them and believed in their product. Now they take every chance they can get to downgrade me to "free" and try to force subsctiptions on me. Thanks for treating me so terribly when I believed and put my money into your project.
Fine when it works, very frustrating when it doesn't
I've been using fastestvpn for a few years. It's fine - usually. Recently, I've had to switch servers more frequently to remain connected, and most recently, it's become impossible for mail.app to send or receive messages while I am connected to a fastestvpn server. When I can connect, it seems to work as advertised - as least, my IP appears to be different from my known home IP - but troduct support is pretty thin. Perhaps someone here will be able to help out.
The latest version for MacOS is completely broken! If at all possible, DO NOT update to this new version! With the new version, you can click all you want in the app but you won't be able to switch servers or start the VPN. I repeat... DO NOT install the latest version!
This VPN is horrible and each update tries to remove prior capabilities. My "lifetime" membership looks like I have to pay a monthly fee now. So terrible. Each site I click on even in the US makes me pay now (streaming or not).
I download quite a lot and it has been working just like a charm - no issues at all. If one location gets a little slow, I just change the VPN location and voila - speed is back up. When I travel internationally, it works especially well with Amazon so that I can make product orders that will be shipped to my home. Got the lifetime subscription and it has paid for itself over and over.
