Honestly one of my top 10 favorite indie app games ever. It’s poignant, existential, and completely free, which seems unbelievable given the visuals and storytelling?? Sometimes when I try these story-based games they move really, really slowly and aren’t super accessible, but this one just throws you into the story. It might make you cry, it will definitely make you smile, and it could very well provoke intense dramatic feelings regarding the place of our lives in the universe. It’s also the perfect length—not too short, like some other story-based games, but you can also finish it in one relatively short sitting. Just a perfect piece of storytelling. (It’s ridiculous to be a stickler on this given the absolute beauty of this story, but in the English version there’s just one typo in one of the letter sections at the end—it says “time has past” instead of “time has passed”—although this could be a pretty great intentional word play? Honestly I don’t even care about the typo everything else was utterly flawless. I am in such awe.)
Just as the title says, this game is SO SOO good, but not seeing it in any of the charts makes me really sad. Most games you see hit the charts are just not as well-made as this. I can feel how much love the people behind this had placed into it. The art is very simple, but in a good simple! AND oh man I LOVE story-driven games, it's so hard to find any good ones that just really makes you feel emotions! Many other developers can take a lot from this game. Plus the animations and movements in this game is phenomenal. This game makes you go travel, it makes you go to the Naples Museum, not only do you have an amazing game, you also get to appreciate the art. I may not have went there yet, but I hope I get the chance to now! This game is absolutely incredible! I hope to see more from the creators, and I know they won't disappoint!
That was honestly breathtaking. The art style is beautiful and the storyline is charming! Though, I felt extremely bad when I had to take money from that poor man whom I totally forgot the name of. Yes, I cannot get over that. The way one was able to make choices in the game was very amazing! I also absolutely loved how you can see the lives of other people while you play the main character (hope that made sense). I totally recommend this game to others as it is very heart touching and gorgeous. I don’t see why this game does have more people checking it out! It is amazing for a free game!
I like the idea of the story, but unfortunately I can no longer move forward. I’ve gotten stuck at the part where the guy meets a girl after his last day in the museum. Unfortunately none of the mechanics previously shown are working to make him stand or move. What I saw of the game was beautifully put together, though even if I could have played more (if I hadn’t gotten stuck), I wouldn’t have been able to play the whole thing. You have to actually visit the museum in Naples to complete the game, which is something most people financially cannot do unless they live in or near Naples (or at the very least in the same country). Overall this game was very frustrating, because it had so much potential but fell short due to glitches and my inability to teleport.
Hey y’all! If your parents/guardians are causing any harm to you—physically, mentally, through neglect, etc. you should call something called childhelp where you can talk to professional counselors anonymously. If you call, be sure to call on something that isn’t a smartphone, mobile phone or cell phone though, or it’ll show up on the phone bill. Someone else can also call for you. Also, if that doesn’t work, or you need help for other issues, if you google “r/serious conversation resources” and click on one of the first results, there’s a list of resources, helplines and advice subreddits that can be helpful for you.
I don't write reviews on the AppStore unless complaining but that was a beautiful app. The story line the music and the scenery all just fell together very well. But what I really love about it is that the intrinsic emotion of an artist was really brought out. It showed how artists create a lot of beauty but they also face a lot of heartbreak and sadness. Although I wish the main story was longer, I assume that this app would need more funding. I hope people get this app and support it so the story can be added to. Again, I cannot put in words how creative and great this app is.
It's a really pretty story. You could finish it in one go, it took me a little less than an hour with one break. It's a little slow so if you're not into that, you might not like it, they do add transportation for you. It's a very touching story and I recommend anyone struggling with lost love or a gone parent to read it because I think it'll invoke the most feeling. The locked museum features aren't important and are really unneeded for the story, there's only two that Ive seen.
I absolutely loved this game!! It had quite amazing graphics especially for the backgrounds and attention to detail is prominent. The game was a bit short and I finished it within 2 days about 2 hours of gameplay maybe. Also the walking mechanism is a bit odd and I might have preferred something that could be used with one finger to control where the character went.
I was quite amazed by this game, The Art, The transitions, Everything about it was beautiful. The fact that it’s a full game, No needed In app purchases To play the full game. They gave you a full game that was sincerely amazing! I’m quite amazed, Very amazed. Though, I was kinda sad when it ended. It was such a beautiful game and it had to come to an end, but oh well. A beautiful game is a beautiful game.
This game is awesome I like the storyline where is shows what happened in the Father’s view and you can switch to normal, anyways part 2 would be awesome I would the first that would want to play it. By the way you don’t have to make part 2 you could make another game like this, just saying.
I absolutely loved this game, it was the perfect length, I think it took me an hour to get through and I loved it. The art was amazing and I loved the 2D/3rd person perspective. All the stories are so sweet and amazing, the old man scene was probably the hardest decision but I still loved it, I can’t say it enough. Please play it! I would love to see what happens next in the story!
The plot line for this game is fantastic all in itself, but it cannot go without saying that the art for this game is one of the best I’ve ever since especially for an IOS narrative game. Playing this game was such an experience and I would 100% recommend it to anyone who wants to delve deep into a short and great narrative story.
Pity it doesn’t work if you’re actually in the museum…
I was actually at the MANN (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli) when I downloaded and started playing the game. Right at the start it said it was checking the GPS to unlock parts of the game if I was in the museum… that didn’t work. I even tried using the museum’s WiFi. That didn’t help. The app never asked for permission to use the location services so it was likely due to a bug in the iOS version as I do have location services enabled. Too bad.
This game is so criminally underrated. I haven’t even finished playing yet and i just had to write a review. The graphics are beautiful, the storyline is unique for a game but so realistic and relatable. The creativity is just.. wow. I hope to see more of the creators’ work down the line and i hope they get their flowers for this masterpiece of a game 💙.
The creators of this game must be artist themselves. That was artistic enjoyable lovely journey . I enjoyed every moment.. the places .. the art.. the music. Fantastic. The only problem i think is that the game is short in story. I finish it about 1 hour. I wanted the story go on an on... i loved it.. felt emotional .. this game is a real touching story❤️❤️❤️
I deeply enjoyed this game. It was so beautiful and heartwarming. I felt like I was watching a movie or reading a novel. I was so into the storyline that time flew by quickly. This game made me feel so many emotions. I was just so awed by this game. The art style was so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It made me want to start painting and writing poetry again.
This is a beautiful work of art and passion. This is very underrated and that is criminal the game music is incredible and awesome. The team behind this game earned 10/10, this is why I still Love people who still have their passion in making video games this also reminds us that game are a art form.
So sweet and beautiful. I’m glad to play it, I feel more relax after this. If you want to change your sad mood and feelings you have to play it. It bring you happinesse, forgiveness and satisfaction ♥️
Me myself is still young though I have a dream to write and make movies and stories. I would recommend making a script for this, this game is very creative and inspiring that it is restored as such a beautiful story in my mind.
Father and son is a beautiful game. The graphics and imagery is stunning, and so is the music. One problem I had with the game was the controls. You have to hold in a specific spot at an inconvenient place in the bottom of the screen. It makes it hard to move.
I love this game and all but when I go to the room where the closet is and I want to change the clothes he has on it says something about the Naples real life or something like that any who I think they should explain what that is but other then that the game is perfect
It was honestly perfect and I loved every part of it and I really cried at parts I’ll love this game to the bottom of my heart and now this memory is stuck with me forever.❤️
Nice slow moving game. I love how you can have a glimpse of the history of the art, and it’s heartfelt story. Overall, it’s a beautiful app and has an amazing story.
If you enjoy watching characters slooooowly walk around and have sloooow, awkward, misspelled dialogue while you try to figure out what exactly you’re supposed to “do,” this is the game for you. Despite the slowness, it gets to the end pretty quickly.
So 'sorry' I am not wealthy and have zero opportunity or chance to visit a museum in another country, much less another continent. Why would you create something that is engaging and then suddenly mocks because the user can't physically be there in order to move forward?! You could have done so much more to introduce and inspire and instead you crushed a story to a physical parameter that 99% of the population will never experience. Not just dissatisfied and disappointing, frankly it's dumb. It does nothing to advance or inspire. 'Deleted'
I downloaded the game by accident. Then I began playing and immediately it pulled me in. The artwork and transitions between time periods is breathtaking. I loved the themes and subjects it explored. I’m so happy I downloaded the app. 5/5 stars for sure.
The game is fun and I don't see a problem with the Controls but I hate that you have to go to the museum!!! Because I live in the America 🇺🇸and the museum is in Italy 🇮🇹 so it can't get the other features that make the game FUN!!!! It Ended to soon in the game!!! Please fix this museum😬
I absolutely love the art style, the music, and the beginning of this story. I wish I could play it, but sadly the left and right controls don't work. When your character sits down, he is stuck there forever. You cant move. I really hope they fix this game.
Father & Son has a unique storyline about mending a broken relationship between an archeologist (father) and artist (son) after the son learns of his dad's passing and final wishes. The gameplay is relaxed and easy. It's mostly two button controls with some objects to press in between. Other reviewers think the left/right controls are broken -- it is just difficult to know where to precisely press because they cannot be seen on screen past the initial tutorial. I was able to play the game, but I had to do some "screen mashing" to guess where the left and right controls were at times. I think the developers were trying not to detract from the game by showing on screen controls, but it's clearly not working in this case. It would help to have a settings menu that allows users to toggle the controls on/off. Or perhaps they need to widen the field where the invisible controls are pressed (or let users do it from the settings). I also did not see a way to return to the main screen and save my progress, so I was forced to play through as much as I could (see below) since I was worried that closing the game would erase everything. The reason I took away one star isn't because of what I said above. To me, those are minor details that can be easily addressed with an update. Father & Son is evidently a game that's trying to get people to visit the museum that's featured within the game, which is located in Italy, by unlocking the content via GPS to prove that you're on location. I think that's a great concept, as I live in NYC and love to take advantage of my local museums. However, there are worldwide players like me who won't be able to go to Italy any time soon -- and that means I can't progress in the game. The developer needs to create a way for non-Italian players to unlock the rest of the game, whether sharing the game on social media, IAP as a donation to the museum, and/or by visiting a nearby museum that is similar to the one in the story (i.e. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, etc.). While I was able to reach the end of the game regardless, there were several wings of the museum that I could not explore -- and so, I felt like I didn't totally understand the full message that the father was sending to his son as there was likely crucial details in those wings. (And I hope I won't have to start all over again once you update the game -- it would be nice if we could select the chapter from which to continue.) Moreover, I'm left wondering whether the story would change if I would play again and choose to say other things to the characters. It would help if this would be made clearer. Overall, I love the game. It just needs a bit more refining and polish in the above areas. I'm looking forward to an update. I'd even love to see a sequel and a prequel! :-)
